The Dan Bongino Show - The Bongino Brief - Sep 18, 2021 Aired: 2021-09-18 Duration: 11:31 === Winning the Cold Civil War (04:28) === [00:00:00] Dan Bongino. [00:00:02] Welcome to the Bongino Brief. [00:00:03] I'm Dan Bongino. [00:00:05] This is a really profound article I read this weekend. [00:00:07] I want to get right to it. [00:00:08] It asks a pretty bold question. [00:00:11] Are we already in a cold civil war with the left? [00:00:14] And if we are, why haven't many on the right woken up? [00:00:18] To that effect. [00:00:19] Now, I don't think that's many in my audience who've been woken up to this a long time ago, but there are many in the DC swamp who still believe that the left views us as just people with bad ideas. [00:00:28] They don't. [00:00:29] They don't. [00:00:29] How many times do I have to say this? [00:00:31] The left does not view us as people with bad ideas. [00:00:34] They view us as bad people with ideas. [00:00:36] There's a huge difference. [00:00:37] Bad people with ideas. [00:00:39] They don't care what your ideas are. [00:00:41] They see you as bad people. [00:00:43] That is important. [00:00:45] You must understand the distinction. [00:00:48] Here's the article by Thomas D. Klingenstein at American Greatness. [00:00:53] It's called Winning the Cold Civil War. [00:00:56] Goes through the steps. [00:00:59] And step number one is Cold Civil War. [00:01:02] We have the American left and us. [00:01:04] Folks, first step is recognizing that we are in a Cold Civil War. [00:01:09] It is zero-sum. [00:01:10] You have one side, us. [00:01:13] When I say zero-sum, that means that whatever is right on one side has to be wrong on the other side. [00:01:19] Whatever is taken here has to be given there. [00:01:23] These things can't exist at the same time. [00:01:26] Okay? [00:01:26] There is no overlapping of the circles here. [00:01:29] Does everybody understand that? [00:01:31] This is not the Democrat party of the 50s, where the overlapping circle between the right and the left was what? [00:01:37] Well, we all love America. [00:01:38] We all want our kids to grow up in a prosperous country. [00:01:41] That is not what's happening anymore. [00:01:44] Maybe for some Democrats who are moderate, but the liberal left hates this country and wants to see it go away. [00:01:50] Stat! [00:01:51] They just do. [00:01:53] You must accept that. [00:01:54] It is critical you accept that. [00:01:56] Because we believe in things like liberty, free and fair elections, judging people by their character, not their skin color or their religion. [00:02:04] The left does not believe that. [00:02:07] Those two things cannot exist. [00:02:09] Here, getting back to the piece, from this American Greatness piece. [00:02:13] He says, winning this cold civil war requires two fundamental understandings. [00:02:18] First, you must understand that you are, in fact, in a war. [00:02:23] Wartime requires very different rhetoric, strategy, and people than peacetime. [00:02:28] Trump is a wartime leader. [00:02:31] Second, you must understand your enemy, what it wants, and how it goes about getting what it wants. [00:02:38] What our enemy wants is the destruction of the American way of life. [00:02:42] It goes about it by trying to force everyone to say, America is systemically racist. [00:02:47] If it can convince us of this falsehood, it will be well on its way to overturning the American way of life. [00:02:56] Folks, we got to recognize we are in a cold civil war for liberty and freedom and the future of this country. [00:03:02] There are people that want to take the liberty and freedom of others away. [00:03:06] Everything from mandates to teaching our kids CRT, which is the taking away of their freedom because they're not free. [00:03:11] They're supposed to be treated differently if they're white because they're oppressors. [00:03:15] You treat an oppressor differently than you treat someone who's oppressed, whether they're oppressing or not. [00:03:19] They want to take your liberty and freedom away. [00:03:21] We have to recognize we are in fact in a war for the spirit of this country. [00:03:25] We still have people up in Congress and the Senate, the Mitt Romney types, this loser up in Illinois, Adam Kinzinger, a total zero, who just don't get it. [00:03:35] They believe if they play tiddlywinks with the left and roast s'mores with them around a campfire and sing campfire songs, they believe the left will leave us alone. [00:03:43] They really love America too. [00:03:44] They don't! [00:03:46] A lot of moderate Democrats, yes, do, and just see the world a little differently. [00:03:51] That is not the radical left. [00:03:52] They hate you. [00:03:54] They see you as bad people with ideas. [00:03:58] There's a difference. [00:03:59] That's why I'm constantly saying new rules, folks. [00:04:02] The new rules are we win, you lose. [00:04:05] You want to play by the old rules? [00:04:06] Oh, let's sit around and discuss the debate, the value of liberty and freedom. [00:04:11] They don't care. [00:04:12] They don't care. === Order Henry Repeating Arms Catalog (03:07) === [00:04:14] We have to just vote these people out and get rid of them in the political ecosystem. [00:04:18] They're killing and destroying this country. [00:04:22] We got to recognize their motives, too. [00:04:26] Recognize it's a war and recognize their motives. [00:04:28] Their motives on the left are totalitarian power. [00:04:31] That is their motive. [00:04:32] Stop pretending it's anything else. [00:06:37] I used to say on this show, you can go find it yourself, my episodes and my entire library are still there, that I really believe the free market would find the solution to corporate censorship and elsewhere. [00:06:48] And I used to use the line often and I meant it. [00:06:52] I used to say, I'm not willing to trade the power of corporations I can get away from for the power of a government I can't. [00:07:02] This is a little deeper than I intended this section, but. === Shift From Libertarianism (04:25) === [00:07:05] My logic there was, I don't want the government to try to do anything to stop YouTube, Twitter, or Facebook. [00:07:12] That was my position. [00:07:14] I'm not here to run away from it. [00:07:16] I'm not here to pretend it didn't happen. [00:07:18] But that was my position for a long time. [00:07:21] I had a very libertarian leaning. [00:07:22] The free market will figure it out eventually. [00:07:27] You know, with discussions with people I've had, like Michael Knowles and others, Other, you know, thought leaders around the movement. [00:07:35] Ladies and gentlemen, I've changed my position significantly. [00:07:39] Because the government now has taken a subordinate role. [00:07:43] The government now avoids complications of violating the Bill of Rights, your right to assemble and your right to speak, by deputizing private industry and letting them do it themselves. [00:07:54] They wink at a nod to YouTube, Twitter, and Facebook, and they've ushered in a new era of censorship addressed in this piece. [00:08:00] And that must be stopped. [00:08:01] And if that's with government power, then we have to do it. [00:08:05] And I'm sorry to many of my friends who think that liberty is in letting the free market try to solve an existential human rights problem. [00:08:16] It's not. [00:08:18] It isn't anymore. [00:08:21] Here, from the piece. [00:08:23] This addresses this, from the American Greatness piece. [00:08:25] In a traditional totalitarian regime, the government uses arbitrary violence to control every aspect of public and private life, all the way down to little league. [00:08:33] In America, the government does not control everything. [00:08:36] Pay attention here, it's important. [00:08:37] But today, through the power of the purse and the courts, the government influences a lot. [00:08:42] And where the government leaves off, the cultural business complex takes over. [00:08:45] Yes! [00:08:46] Yes! [00:08:47] Here's how the left is doing it now. [00:08:49] And why traditional, you know, straight, you know, air quotes, liberty, because it was not liberty. [00:08:54] I was wrong. [00:08:55] Where the traditional, oh, leave the government out of it, the free market will figure out, has totally failed us. [00:08:59] The government has figured out they can practice a new form of socialism. [00:09:02] They don't need violence. [00:09:04] They don't need to steal your business straight out the government like they would in the Soviet Union, right? [00:09:09] The government's figured out, if they regulate your business to death, And they tax it to death. [00:09:14] They own it already. [00:09:15] It's what Kevin Williamson in his book, uh, what is it? [00:09:18] The Idiot's Guide to Socialism or whatever it was. [00:09:20] I forget, but it's a good book. [00:09:22] It's not a huge fan of mine, but I don't care. [00:09:23] Good ideas are good ideas. [00:09:25] He says, we don't need to practice old style socialism in the United States where we, the government just takes your business and controls the means of production. [00:09:33] If it imposes a bunch of rules that make no sense and then taxes all of your income, it owns it anyway. [00:09:40] And then, When you start a business that they don't like, what do they do? [00:09:44] They just use the private sector to take you down. [00:09:48] That doesn't happen, does it? [00:09:50] I used to be involved with Parler a long time ago. [00:09:53] It's funny, I remember the government didn't come in like communists and get rid of Parler. [00:09:59] They just used the private industry to do the dirty work for them. [00:10:02] Remember AOC and Ro Khanna tweeting out, hey, AWS, Google, Apple, be a real shame if you got rid of Parler, we get a nod. [00:10:12] And they did. [00:10:13] You think the free market's going to solve that? [00:10:15] The free market in this case was not free and the free market were accomplices to the crime. [00:10:22] Here's the third part of this piece. [00:10:23] It's fantastic. [00:10:24] Again, covers the new rules, I've said. [00:10:26] The new rules are we win, you lose. [00:10:28] Put aside your old, oh, we can't use government to fight back. [00:10:32] Government's an inherently bad thing. [00:10:34] It usually is. [00:10:36] But what else do you want to use? [00:10:37] The free market that's allied against you? [00:10:39] Do rights matter or not? [00:10:43] The piece says, how should Republicans respond? [00:10:45] What should we do about all this? [00:10:47] The essential thing, as I've tried to stress, is for Republicans to understand that we're in a war, and act accordingly. [00:10:52] War is not a time for too much civility, compromise, or for imputing good motives to the enemy, like Adam Kinzinger and Mittens Romney do. [00:11:01] I threw that in there. [00:11:02] Our generals must fight as if the choice were between liberty and death. [00:11:08] This is no time for sunshine patriots. [00:11:13] Amen, Brother Thomas. [00:11:16] You either understand that this fight is critical and existential or you don't. [00:11:22] You want to sit down and, you know, write white papers all day? [00:11:25] You go right ahead. [00:11:26] We're going to go out and win elections and take our government back. [00:11:29] The Dan Bongino Show.
