The Dan Bongino Show - The Bongino Brief - May 01, 2021 Aired: 2021-05-01 Duration: 05:28 === Clinton Surplus Hoax (02:18) === [00:00:00] Dan Bongino. [00:00:02] Welcome to the Bongino Brief. [00:00:03] I'm Dan Bongino. [00:00:05] So we played this video yesterday of Joe Biden doing what every liberal Democrat and every, really every Democrat does, promoting the biggest economic hoax in the last hundred years. [00:00:16] It's been going around for a century. [00:00:18] The hoax of trickle-down economics. [00:00:20] You doubt me? [00:00:21] I'm sorry to replay this, but it's important in light of some updates I have for you. [00:00:24] Here was Joe Biden during his joint address where he again promotes the trickle-down hoax. [00:00:29] Check this out. [00:00:30] My fellow Americans, Trickle down. [00:00:34] Trickle down economics has never worked. [00:00:36] It's time to grow the economy from the bottom and the middle out. [00:00:42] Trickle down. [00:00:43] There we go again. [00:00:44] Now, I know many of you listening, some of you know I beat these things to death. [00:00:49] Like I used to beat to death the infamous Clinton surplus that never happened. [00:00:53] The Clinton surplus? [00:00:53] Clinton surplus is no such thing. [00:00:54] Remember that? [00:00:55] I used to get my older, you have to be an older listener. [00:00:57] I used to discuss it all things. [00:00:58] It drives me crazy. [00:00:59] It's just not true. [00:01:00] There's no Clinton surplus. [00:01:01] Ladies and gentlemen, I'm bringing this up again because it really... [00:01:06] I don't want to say it. [00:01:08] It pisses me off, if you get it. [00:01:10] There's no such thing! [00:01:12] There is no trickle-down. [00:01:14] Here's Thomas Sowell again. [00:01:15] We played this yesterday. [00:01:16] I'm playing it again today because it's going to be important. [00:01:18] Thomas Sowell saying, this is a total fairy tale. [00:01:20] There is no trickle-down. [00:01:21] Check this out. [00:01:22] Where does this phrase trickle-down come from? [00:01:24] Oh, I don't know. [00:01:25] It was as far back as the Roosevelt administration. [00:01:31] It is an incredible thing. [00:01:35] There is a non-existent theory that is constantly being attacked. [00:01:39] Some years ago in my newspaper column, I challenged anybody to cite any economist outside of an insane asylum who had ever made that argument. [00:01:47] Nobody ever, ever, ever came up with a single person. [00:01:50] So when Barack Obama says in this past July, quote, we were told that prosperity would- Ask him who told him. [00:01:56] Nobody told him. [00:01:57] Nobody told him. [00:01:58] No economist has ever held that, no politician has ever said it. [00:02:01] I don't know of anybody who's ever said it. [00:02:02] In fact, when I put this out and I went out, a nationally syndicated column. Various people wrote me and === Two Words Misused (03:24) === [00:02:09] said, "Well, so-and-so said that so-and-so said it." Find me the person who said it. I don't [00:02:14] want to hear how A said that B said. [00:02:16] Find me B and show me where he said it. [00:02:19] This Thomas Sowell is a legend. He is irreplaceable. [00:02:27] There are two words that are used inappropriately in the English language I hate. [00:02:32] I can't stand. [00:02:33] And I'm gonna say this in the opening of my radio show, May 24th, Monday, May 24th, when we start, so make sure you listen. [00:02:38] Two words, literally and unique. [00:02:41] People use them wrong all the time. [00:02:43] Literally when they mean figuratively, and they say unique when something's not unique. [00:02:49] Thomas Sowell is literally unique. [00:02:50] There's never another gonna be another. [00:02:53] There's no trickle-down. [00:02:55] He says it right. [00:02:56] Everybody goes, no, no. [00:02:57] Obama says, people tell us. [00:02:58] Nobody told you there is no trickle-down. [00:03:01] Here, you want the proof? [00:03:02] Hat tip again, Cole, who emailed me this last night or this morning. [00:03:07] Here's another leftist magazine, or semi-leftist magazine, trying to pretend trickle-down exists. [00:03:14] Here, headline. [00:03:15] Why trickle-down economics works in theory, but not in fact. [00:03:19] By Kimberly Amadio and Eric Estevez. [00:03:21] You may say, Dan, TrickleDown exists. [00:03:25] TheBalance.com is writing about it right there. [00:03:27] No, no. [00:03:28] Look at the footnote. [00:03:29] Look at the footnote. [00:03:30] This is important. [00:03:31] This goes to show you how liberals propagate myths and suckers believe it. [00:03:35] The first footnote. [00:03:37] Wharton School of Business. [00:03:38] Does trickle-down economics add up, or is it a drop in the bucket? [00:03:42] You're like, wow, trickle-down exists, Dan. [00:03:44] They said it in the headline, and they footnoted the Wharton School of Business. [00:03:47] So Cole was kind enough to actually go to the Wharton School of Business and read the article. [00:03:52] Here it is. [00:03:53] Does trickle-down economics add up, or is it a drop in the bucket? [00:03:55] Dan, Wharton's talking about trickle-down. [00:03:57] It exists. [00:03:58] Does it? [00:03:59] Because when you scroll down in the piece, you get this. [00:04:02] Awesome. [00:04:07] Many others have pointed out the folly of using the term trickle-down economics. [00:04:11] That no real economic model or serious school of thought stands behind what has long been a term of art at the intersection of politics and media. [00:04:21] Here's a professor from Wharton, Mr. Gomes here. [00:04:25] I have a little bit of a hard time with the terminology and the idea of trickle-down economics. [00:04:30] Although everyone in the popular press has a somewhat different characterization of what this means, this is not something we have tested or seriously theorized about as economists. [00:04:42] This is the greatest moment in the history of the Dan Pongino Show. [00:04:47] I know my standards may be low. [00:04:49] I'm sorry. [00:04:50] You know I love economics. [00:04:51] It's my passion. [00:04:52] There is nothing I like more than proving a point through liberals who think they're proving the opposite point. [00:04:59] There's no trickle down. [00:05:02] They write an article on trickle down and their first footnote is an article saying there's no trickle down. [00:05:09] This may be one of these things, I get it, that I think is funny and literally, literally, not figuratively, no other human being on the planet thinks it's funny. [00:05:18] Just me. [00:05:19] Just me. [00:05:19] It's unique to me. [00:05:20] But that's okay. [00:05:23] Great job, Cole. [00:05:25] Awesome. [00:05:25] The Dan Bongino Show.
