The Dan Bongino Show - The Bongino Brief - Mar 06, 2021 Aired: 2021-03-06 Duration: 07:43 === Why Assault Weapons Matter (07:27) === [00:00:00] Dan Bongino. [00:00:02] Welcome to the Bongino Brief. [00:00:03] I'm Dan Bongino. [00:00:05] Here's an article by the Washington Examiner being the show notes today. [00:00:09] Biden's quote, common sense gun law reforms make no sense by Tristan Hood, where they address the fact that Biden again wants to get rid of, here we go, Joe, assault weapons. [00:00:19] So what do they mean by assault weapons? [00:00:21] Yeah. [00:00:21] Nobody on the left knows what assault weapons means, but that's intentional. [00:00:25] Why? [00:00:25] Why, why, why, why? [00:00:27] The reason is the term sounds scary. [00:00:29] Oh my gosh, we don't want assault weapons in our community. [00:00:31] Who wants that? [00:00:32] That sounds terrible. [00:00:34] But then when you ask him very simple questions like, well, golly, what does that actually mean an assault weapon? [00:00:42] Because you want to ban it. [00:00:43] I'd kind of like to know what it means, right? [00:00:46] It's weird that they never really have a perimeter around what that means. [00:00:50] Why? [00:00:51] Why would that be? [00:00:52] Because they want it to mean everything. [00:00:54] An assault weapon will mean your slingshot. [00:00:56] Remember wrist rockets when you were a kid? [00:00:58] Remember that? [00:00:58] I had one of those. [00:00:59] Loved them. [00:01:00] Those were great, I know. [00:01:01] Caused a lot of trouble. [00:01:02] That'll be next. [00:01:04] That'll be an assault weapon. [00:01:05] That's why they never put a fence around what it means. [00:01:07] Now, I found this video. [00:01:09] Don't ask me how. [00:01:10] I have been talking about this on the show for five years and I've never been able to locate it. [00:01:15] When I was a Maryland political activist and candidate in the liberal, soon-to-be communist state of Maryland, Sadly. [00:01:24] I used to go on local shows and just debate the snot out of people and it was so much fun. [00:01:31] So this is a show I did with a guy Joe Armacost knows, a liberal activist named Billy Murphy. [00:01:36] Oh yeah. [00:01:37] And another guy who was a state senator at the time and later went on to be the attorney general of Maryland, a far left radical leftist, Brian Frosch. [00:01:46] This was a classic. [00:01:47] I got two clips here. [00:01:48] I hate putting up clips of myself. [00:01:50] I know self-praised things. [00:01:52] But here's an example how to debate leftists because they're going to start coming for your assault weapon soon. [00:01:58] Just ask them what it is. [00:01:59] They have a really hard time. [00:02:00] Check out clip one from this debate and watch this guy get really pissed as I ask him, hey, can you define an assault weapon? [00:02:07] He has no idea. [00:02:08] Check this out. [00:02:08] Look, the assault weapon ban, when it was national, saved lives. [00:02:14] Maryland's assault weapon ban will save lives. [00:02:16] There's no need for these military style weapons for civilian use. [00:02:21] Well, Senator Farage is a lawyer. [00:02:22] I'm assuming he's looked at the data. [00:02:23] The DOJ's own study says the exact opposite. [00:02:26] I suggest you take a look at that. [00:02:28] Mr. Murphy said something completely inaccurate. [00:02:31] Automatic weapons are not legal to purchase. [00:02:34] You need a class 3 federal firearms license, so that's not an accurate statement. [00:02:38] Semi-automatic weapons are legal, so that's just not accurate. [00:02:40] And as for assault weapons, can you define what that is? [00:02:43] Is there a non-assault weapon? [00:02:45] I'm unsure as to what exactly you're talking about. [00:02:47] Come on, man. [00:02:47] Let's be real. [00:02:48] you go in a gun store and you ask for an assault weapon, the man's not gonna have [00:02:51] any problem understanding what you're saying. Really? It's only, it's only [00:02:55] right-wing gun nuts that are taking this debate to an extreme level. [00:03:02] Let's don't argue about things that are obvious. [00:03:07] Listen, I hate, you should never, there's a, would you agree Paul? [00:03:15] Let's take it, sir. [00:03:15] Joe, isn't the golden rule of you never play your own clips? [00:03:18] You just don't. [00:03:19] It looks like a, hey, look at me. [00:03:21] Pat yourself on the back. [00:03:22] I'm sorry. [00:03:22] I have to break that rule this time. [00:03:24] That was one of my favorite. [00:03:26] When I got off that set, that guy was so pissed. [00:03:28] Joe knows him, by the way. [00:03:29] Not a bad guy. [00:03:30] These aren't bad guys. [00:03:30] They're just totalitarians. [00:03:32] They want to take, but you know, they just, you know, maybe they are bigger. [00:03:35] Who knows? [00:03:35] But Joe knew him, whatever. [00:03:38] It's fascinating. [00:03:39] He wants government power to use it to take away an item he can't even define. [00:03:46] And then he's mad at me because I ask him. [00:03:49] He's like, you're the right wing gun nuts. [00:03:51] You know exactly what it means. [00:03:54] It doesn't matter if I know what it means. [00:03:55] You want to take it away. [00:03:57] What do you want to take? [00:03:58] I don't know. [00:03:59] Go to a gun store and ask them. [00:04:01] Huh? [00:04:01] What? [00:04:02] I have been looking for that clip forever. [00:04:10] You have no idea. [00:04:12] The guys, the Attorney General of Maryland, or the other guy, not Billy Murphy, they want to ban something they don't even know what it is. [00:04:19] Then they cite studies that cite the opposite. [00:04:23] The Department of Justice study on assault weapons conducted in the Clinton administration said the opposite of what Frosch was saying. [00:04:31] That it had no effect on crime, the assault weapons ban. [00:04:34] Just look it up! [00:04:35] It was Clinton's Justice Department. [00:04:36] It's not hard to find. [00:04:38] Use the interweb. [00:04:40] I mean, that's why it started with, I'm like, this is hilarious. [00:04:43] You're running for attorney general. [00:04:44] You didn't even read the study you're citing. [00:04:49] This is why as a conservative, you only need like an IQ of 101 to beat a liberal in a debate because their IQs are 56. [00:04:57] They just don't know anything. [00:04:59] Here's part two to this. [00:05:02] By the way, this was like an hour show. [00:05:05] It got more hostile. [00:05:07] I'm telling you, after it was over, they hated my guts. [00:05:09] They couldn't get out of there quick enough because they were embarrassed. [00:05:12] I want to ban an assault weapon. [00:05:13] What is an assault weapon? [00:05:14] Hell if I know. [00:05:15] Go ask a gun shop guy. [00:05:17] But you want to ban it. [00:05:19] Here's part two of this, check this out. [00:05:21] Do you notice what I said at the beginning of the show, you were going to use emotion, [00:05:23] not reason? [00:05:24] Do you notice how the emotion kicked in? [00:05:26] Never defined what an assault weapon is. [00:05:27] No, this is important. [00:05:28] And then resorted to the right wing nut job. [00:05:30] But never answered the question. [00:05:32] They can't define what an assault weapon is because it's based strictly on cosmetics. [00:05:35] You're the only person in the United States who takes the view that you can't define what [00:05:41] The federal law defines it! [00:05:42] The federal law defines it! [00:05:43] You still haven't defined it! [00:05:44] It's defined in the state law. [00:05:46] It's defined in state law as well. [00:05:47] What's the difference between an assault weapon and a non-assault weapon? [00:05:50] Who cares? [00:05:51] There is a difference. [00:05:52] The people who use their right to carry arms care. [00:05:54] Oh, give me a break. [00:05:55] You're taking their rights. [00:05:56] Look, all you have to do, all you have to do is read the statute. [00:05:59] All you have to do is read the statute. [00:06:01] Yeah, I definitely have. [00:06:02] Well, tell us what it is. [00:06:04] Why do I have to tell you if you don't know? [00:06:05] We're going to go look for that statue. [00:06:07] We'll be back in a minute. [00:06:13] I'm laughing at myself like it's not me. [00:06:15] Like I wasn't there. [00:06:17] I can't believe it. [00:06:18] He wants to ban something at the federal level citing a state statute he doesn't even know. [00:06:23] He doesn't even know what it is. [00:06:25] And then he says to me, Why am I laughing at myself? [00:06:33] I need to retract this segment of the show with my own. [00:06:38] I'm giving myself, thank you, the retraction alpaca. [00:06:41] You should never laugh at your own jokes. [00:06:42] Retract this with me. [00:06:43] I can't help it. [00:06:45] He says to me at one point, Joe, Reverse tautology. [00:06:50] He goes, you must be the only person in America who doesn't know what an assault weapon is. [00:06:55] After not knowing what an assault weapon is, did he miss that? [00:07:01] Maybe there are two people in America, me and him, because he doesn't know either. [00:07:06] Someone. [00:07:07] Should ask the cognitively compromised Joe Biden to lay out the perimeter of what exactly an assault weapon is. === Ask Biden About Assault (00:30) === [00:07:15] Just a suggestion, if Joe Biden ever answers a question, ever, during his entire presidency, if he ever does a press conference again. [00:07:24] Someone should probably, yeah, I'm just gonna throw that out there to the media. [00:07:27] You know, the sane media, not the totalitarian C2PA cousin to C3PO media. [00:07:33] I mean like the real media, journalists, Like Peter Doocy. [00:07:37] Maybe you want to ask him that. [00:07:38] Like, what exactly is an assault? [00:07:39] Can you define that exactly? [00:07:40] The Dan Bongino Show.
