Davis Aurini - Fallout: New Vegas - Part 1 Aired: 2020-09-28 Duration: 28:09 === Canon Playthrough (03:35) === [00:00:39] Welcome, folks, to Fallout New Vegas. [00:00:44] Let's play with Davis Orrini. [00:00:55] Probably the best game ever made. [00:01:02] So, while we watch these intro slides, let me tell you what we're going to be doing with this playthrough. [00:01:08] It's going to be a couple of things. [00:01:10] First of all, this is going to be the Canon playthrough. [00:01:19] Nothing weird, no murdering important quest characters. [00:01:23] This is going to be if they ever make a sequel to this, and I'm not including Fallout 4. [00:01:30] If they ever make a sequel to this, this is going to be my version of the Canon playthrough. [00:01:38] All the important events, achieving every option, exploring everything, learning everything you can about the Mojave Wasteland. [00:01:48] We're going to be doing that. [00:01:51] As well as doing the best ending that we can, the best out of a bunch of bad options. [00:02:03] Second of all, we're going to be playing my version of the Courier, which is also the Canon version of the Courier. [00:02:14] He's from up north, Montana, Alberta. [00:02:19] He's from somewhere up there. [00:02:23] He knows California, he knows the Mojave. [00:02:26] Never been to Vegas. [00:02:28] The guy's in his mid-30s. [00:02:32] Never had a wife. [00:02:37] Knows how to use guns, knows how to use bladed weapons as an act for science. [00:02:44] And he's very pissed off that he got shot in the head. [00:02:47] Let's get started. [00:03:18] Without a love of my own. === Platinum Chip Delivery (15:57) === [00:04:14] War. [00:04:15] War never changes. [00:04:20] When atomic fire consumed the Earth, those who survived did so in great underground vaults. [00:04:27] When they opened, their inhabitants set out across the ruins of the old world to build new societies, establishing villages, forming tribes. [00:04:39] As decades passed, what had been the American Southwest united beneath the flag of the New California Republic, dedicated to old world values of democracy and the rule of law. [00:04:54] As the Republic grew, so did its needs. [00:04:58] Scouts spread east, seeking territory and wealth in the dry and merciless expanse of the Mojave Desert. [00:05:07] They returned with tales of a city untouched by the warheads that had scorched the rest of the world, and a great wall spanning the Colorado River. [00:05:17] The NCR mobilized its army and sent it east to occupy Hoover Dam and restore it to working condition. [00:05:28] But across the Colorado, another society had arisen under a different flag. [00:05:34] A vast army of slaves forged from the conquest of 86 tribes, Caesar's Legion. [00:05:43] Four years have passed since the Republic held the dam just barely against the Legion's onslaught. [00:05:50] The Legion did not retreat. [00:05:53] Across the river, it gathers strength. [00:05:56] Campfires burn, training drums beat. [00:06:01] Through it all, the New Vegas Strip has stayed open for business, under the control of its mysterious overseer, Mr. House, and his army of rehabilitated tribals and police robots. [00:06:16] You are a courier, hired by the Mojave Express to deliver a package to the new Vegas Strip. [00:06:24] What seemed like a simple delivery job has taken a turn for the worse. [00:06:32] God, what the hell, my head. [00:06:36] You're crying in the rain, Pally. [00:06:39] What the hell is this? [00:06:45] Who the hell are you? [00:06:49] Will you get it over with? [00:06:51] Maybe cons kill people without looking them in the face. [00:06:54] What the fuck are you talking about? [00:07:00] You other assholes, what the hell is going on? [00:07:03] That's my chip! [00:07:05] That's my delivery. [00:07:10] From where you're kneeling, must seem like an 18-carat run of bad luck. [00:07:15] You poetic piece of shit. [00:07:18] That game was rigged from the start. [00:07:52] Where am I? [00:07:52] What? [00:07:54] What's that? [00:07:55] Platinum chip. [00:07:58] Why? [00:07:59] The platinum. [00:08:00] Platinum chip. [00:08:05] It's low there easy you've been out cold a couple of days now I've been much less relaxing Get your bearings. [00:08:14] Let's see what the damage is. [00:08:17] How about your name? [00:08:19] Can you tell me? [00:08:22] Parents, they had data tapes. [00:08:27] Data shapes, they, what were they? [00:08:30] Half-gun will travel. [00:08:31] Paladin. [00:08:34] This old cowboy story. [00:08:39] Cowboy story on data tapes. [00:08:41] Half Gun Will Travel. [00:08:43] name was paladin you can't say it's what I'd have picked oh me neither that's your name that's your name I'm Doc Mitchell Welcome to Good Springs. [00:08:56] My Good Springs. [00:08:57] I know this place. [00:09:02] Wait, what? [00:09:03] Shit, I take pride in my needlework. [00:09:05] It was real. [00:09:09] The bullet was real. [00:09:13] How'd that do? [00:09:15] Alright, folks, I have a safe game. [00:09:18] Right after this, I'm just going to skip over the facial animation. [00:09:22] As I said, I'm playing my courier, my descendant, and 200 years. [00:09:30] We're just going to skip all this and be UGMO for a few minutes. [00:09:34] Then we're going to load the game. [00:09:36] Anyway. [00:09:40] Well, you're most of it right anyway. [00:09:43] Stuff that matters. [00:09:44] Okay. [00:09:45] No sense keeping you in bed anymore. [00:09:48] Did a good job. [00:09:48] Good job, Stockholm. [00:09:54] I'm on them. [00:09:54] I'm on them. [00:09:56] Why don't you walk down to the end of the room? [00:09:58] Over by that figure tester machine there. [00:10:02] Take it slow now. [00:10:03] It ain't a race. [00:10:05] These things. [00:10:08] I thought these were Carney's sideshows. [00:10:10] is this thing looking good so far go ahead and give the figure tester a try all right quick if you get back all your faculties Alright, alright. [00:10:24] I mean, you're the doctor. [00:10:27] Alright, guys, we are min-max in this game. [00:10:30] We are doing Strength of 5, Perception of 5, Endurance of 5, we are doing... [00:10:36] Now Charisma is a dump stat in this game! [00:10:38] It is basically useless. [00:10:42] But there is one event that requires a charisma of seven. [00:10:48] So we are going to increase charisma to seven as the game goes on to achieve that one extremely minor event. [00:10:55] But for now, we'll leave it at five. [00:10:57] Going on, intelligence of eight. [00:11:03] Agility of five, and luck of seven. [00:11:07] This is a game in Las Vegas, after all. [00:11:11] We're gonna be nine by end of game. [00:11:15] That said, There we go, Doc. [00:11:19] That's uh, yeah. [00:11:22] That's where we are. [00:11:25] Got a weird machine here, man. [00:11:29] Look at that. [00:11:30] Maybe them bullets done your brain some good. [00:11:33] Yeah, you got some interesting bedside manner. [00:11:48] Oh, we can, Doc, I... [00:11:50] I wasn't uh I wasn't that smart to begin with, though. [00:11:55] A lot of people think I'm nuts. [00:12:00] All right. [00:12:02] I'm gonna say a word. [00:12:03] I want you to say the first thing that comes to mind. [00:12:07] Dog. [00:12:09] Cat. [00:12:11] House. [00:12:12] Um, shelter? [00:12:14] Night. [00:12:15] Day. [00:12:16] Campfire. [00:12:16] Sure, campfire. [00:12:18] Enemy. [00:12:19] Target. [00:12:21] I mean, Swiss cheese. [00:12:24] Light. [00:12:26] Dark. [00:12:27] Mother. [00:12:28] Saint. [00:12:29] Caretaker. [00:12:32] Okay. [00:12:33] Now I got a few statements. [00:12:35] I want you to tell me how much they sound like something you'd say. [00:12:39] First one: conflict just ain't in my nature. [00:12:43] Well, Doc. [00:12:49] I'm not saying I'm an asshole. [00:12:50] I'm just going to disagree on that one. [00:12:56] I might start things sometimes. [00:12:59] What the? [00:12:59] I ain't given to relying on others for support. [00:13:03] I know that one I can doc, this is weird. [00:13:09] Shoot. [00:13:11] Where. [00:13:11] Yeah, yeah, strong lickery. [00:13:13] Strong lickery. [00:13:14] I'm always fixing to be the center of attention. [00:13:17] Well, shoot, Doc, look at me. [00:13:19] I mean, let's be frank. [00:13:20] That scar, that's that just. [00:13:22] I look even better with it. [00:13:23] So, I mean. [00:13:25] Alright, yeah. [00:13:26] Yeah, I got a bit of an ego. [00:13:28] I'm slow to embrace new ideas. [00:13:31] Well, I suppose it depends on the idea, don't it? [00:13:33] It's I mean, good ideas are strongly disagree on that one. [00:13:37] Good ideas are good ideas. [00:13:39] I charge in to deal with my problems head on. [00:13:42] Yeah, yeah. [00:13:44] Shoot, is that how they sandbagged me? [00:13:48] That, yeah, yeah. [00:13:51] Yeah, fair enough, fair enough. [00:13:53] You got me. [00:13:53] Almost done here. [00:13:55] What do you say you have a look at this? [00:13:57] Tell me what you see. [00:13:59] I don't know. [00:14:00] It's kind of like a chemical reaction or something like that. [00:14:02] Okay. [00:14:03] How about this one? [00:14:06] I looks like something technological. [00:14:12] Last one. [00:14:14] Oh, now that right there, that's two bears high fiving. [00:14:17] That's two bears high fiving. [00:14:18] We both know that. [00:14:20] Well, that's all she wrote. [00:14:23] I don't have nothing to compare it to, so maybe you'd better just have a look at the results. [00:14:28] See if it all seems right to you. [00:14:32] Alrighty, guys, we are doing science, guns, and speech. [00:14:42] And we are going to be doing secondary lockpick and melee weapons. [00:14:50] With, of course, some lockpicking and all that other very good stuff. [00:14:56] But guns, science, and speech. [00:14:58] This is the courier that we are going to be playing. [00:15:04] Smart guy that knows how to sling a pistol. [00:15:10] Before I turn you loose, I need one more thing from you. [00:15:13] Wait, I got a form for you to fill out so I can get a sense of your medical history. [00:15:17] Okay, just the formality. [00:15:19] Ain't like I expect to find you got a family history of getting shot in the head. [00:15:25] Well, Doc, I ain't gonna argue with you. [00:15:28] Doc, I owe you. [00:15:30] Alright, once again, my courier is four-eyed, like me, and good-natured, like me. [00:15:39] They do have the Wild Wasteland down here, but we're gonna be vanilla with this game. [00:15:44] Wild Wasteland's a little bit of fun. [00:15:46] There's a little bit of extra lore in there, but nah, we are just gonna be. [00:15:53] This is my courier. [00:15:55] This is my descendant in 200 years' time. [00:16:00] All right, I guess that about does it. [00:16:03] Come with me, I'll see you out. [00:16:09] Funny, this courier actually looks almost exactly like the guy I was shooting crossbows with earlier today. [00:16:18] Doc, I owe you so much. [00:16:22] I what do I owe you, Doc? [00:16:24] What do I owe you? [00:16:26] Here, these are yours. [00:16:29] Was all you had on you when you were brought in? [00:16:31] I hope you don't mind, but I gave the note a look. [00:16:34] I thought it might help me find a next of kin, but it was just something about a platinum chip. [00:16:40] Well, if you're heading back out there, you ought to have this. [00:16:43] They call it a pip boy. [00:16:45] I grew up in one of them vaults I made before the war. [00:16:48] A pip boy? [00:16:50] Ain't much used to be now, but you might want such a thing after what you've been through. [00:16:55] I know what it's like having something taken from you. [00:16:59] And put this on too, so the locals don't pick on you for lacking modesty. [00:17:04] Never was much my style, anyway. [00:17:07] Doc, I can't even begin a pip boy. [00:17:11] Doc, Mitchell, I can't even begin to thank you for all for patching me up for geez. [00:17:20] What the hell happened to me? [00:17:22] Doc, thank you for patching me up. [00:17:25] Don't mention it. [00:17:26] It's what I'm here for. [00:17:28] You should talk to Sunny Smiles before you leave town. [00:17:30] She can help you learn to fend for yourself in the desert. [00:17:34] She'll likely be at the saloon. [00:17:37] I reckon some of the other folks at the saloon might be able to help you out too. [00:17:41] And the metal fella, Victor, who pulled you out of your grave. [00:17:45] Anyway, you ever get hurt out there, you come right back. [00:17:48] I'll fix you up. [00:17:49] But try not to get killed anymore. [00:17:52] I'll make a point of it. [00:17:54] And yes, folks, we are going to be doing hardcore mode because it's just not worth playing this game otherwise. [00:18:01] Hey, Doc, one last favor. [00:18:03] You didn't have to find a pair of glasses on me when. [00:18:11] Let me see. [00:18:13] What are these? [00:18:16] Oh and... [00:18:17] Hey Doc, can I borrow the magazine? [00:18:19] I'm going to borrow his magazine. [00:18:22] Oh, thank goodness. [00:18:24] Let's. [00:18:28] We are going to load the game right now, folks. [00:18:32] And we are going to go grab Doc Mitchell's magazine and reading glasses. [00:18:49] Thank you very much, Doc. [00:18:50] That was mighty neighborly of you. [00:18:53] Mighty, mighty neighborly. [00:18:56] Now let's get dressed. [00:19:02] We are going to put on this. [00:19:04] Yes, we got a bunch of stuff. [00:19:06] We're going to put this lightweight leather armor on. [00:19:10] And there we go, reading glasses. [00:19:14] Now, there we go. [00:19:23] A cowboy named Paladin. [00:19:28] And let's... [00:19:31] Thanks for getting me upright, Doc. [00:19:34] I'm headed out. === Still Looking Fit (08:26) === [00:19:42] Ugh! [00:19:45] sun is brighter than it needs to be. [00:19:50] Okay, where the hell am I? [00:19:52] Good Springs, he said. [00:19:53] Good Springs. [00:19:54] Good Springs. [00:19:55] I've heard of this place. [00:19:56] This was. [00:19:59] Shoot, where'd I hear about this? [00:20:03] Wait, what the... [00:20:06] what the hell is that? [00:20:07] What the hell is that? [00:20:15] Howdy, partner! [00:20:17] Might I say you're looking fit as a fiddle? [00:20:20] Well, I feel about 20 bucks right now. [00:20:26] Wait. [00:20:28] You're that robot that dug me out of the grave, aren't you? [00:20:31] I think I owe you some thanks. [00:20:34] Don't mention it. [00:20:35] I'm always ready to lend a helping hand to a stranger in need. [00:20:39] Well, that explains that white hat you got right there. [00:20:44] Partner, how'd you happen to find me? [00:20:47] I was out for a stroll that night when I heard the commotion up the old bone orchard. [00:20:53] Saw what looked like a bunch of bad eggs, so I laid low. [00:20:57] Once they had run off, I dug you up to see if you were still kicking. [00:21:01] Turns out you were. [00:21:03] So I hauled you off to the dock right quick. [00:21:06] Bad eggs is one way of putting it. [00:21:09] There's this clown show man. [00:21:10] He's wearing this flashy suit. [00:21:13] Flashy suit in the middle of, uh, we're not in Vegas right now. [00:21:19] A bunch of great cons behind him. [00:21:22] Do you know who those guys were? [00:21:23] Can't say that I'm familiar with the rascals. [00:21:26] Some of the fine folks in town might be able to help you out with that. [00:21:32] Alright, I guess I'll look around a bit. [00:21:35] Say, Victor, how do you wind up in this place? [00:21:37] Good Springs, right? [00:21:39] I wasn't in town, oh, 10, 15 years ago. [00:21:44] Before that, I. [00:21:48] I can't quite seem to recall. [00:21:51] Ah. [00:21:52] Anyway, it's a right, peaceful town, and I reckon it's as fine a place to settle as any. [00:21:59] I'll be frank, Victor. [00:22:00] My noggin's still aching, so can't blame you for not remembering things. [00:22:06] Do appreciate you digging me out, like I said. [00:22:09] say just one last question I've never seen what sort of model robot are you anyway I'm a securitron. [00:22:17] Rob co-secured the model 2060B. [00:22:20] If you ever see any of my brothers, tell him Victor says, Howdy. [00:22:24] Well, I'll make a point of doing that. [00:22:27] Goodbye, Victor. [00:22:29] Thank you. [00:22:30] Thank you. [00:22:30] You have a good afternoon. [00:22:32] Happy Trails! [00:22:36] Alright, so... [00:22:37] What did the doc say? [00:22:39] Sunny Smiles? [00:22:42] Sunny Smiles. [00:22:44] Over at the bar. [00:22:47] Now, alright. [00:22:50] Folks, funny story for you. [00:22:54] I've actually been to this bar. [00:22:58] Good Springs is a real town. [00:23:01] It's mostly a ghost town. [00:23:02] It actually does not look too dissimilar from this. [00:23:07] I have been to this bar. [00:23:08] Drank there with a very beautiful girl. [00:23:10] Then I drove up into the hills north of the city. [00:23:15] I saw a checked out some satellite arrays, saw a herd of wild horses, I saw some burrows. [00:23:24] Might have spotted a drug compound, actually. [00:23:27] It was a good fine time southwest of Las Vegas. [00:23:33] But anyway. [00:23:36] Easy Pete, you say. [00:23:37] Greetings to you, sir. [00:23:38] How's it going? [00:23:40] What can Easy Pete do for you? [00:23:43] Well, I tell you what, I'm looking for those. [00:23:45] I'm the guy that just got shot up on the hill. [00:23:47] You know anything about those folks who attacked me? [00:23:50] The one in the fancy suit seemed to be calling the shots. [00:23:53] Yeah? [00:23:54] That's as much as I know. [00:23:55] Other folks in town might know more. [00:23:58] Word of advice, though. [00:23:59] If you ever catch up with him, watch out. [00:24:02] The man's got cold eyes like a snake. [00:24:05] Can't be trusted, I'd say. [00:24:08] I'd say you're about right about that. [00:24:11] Easy Pete, you said. [00:24:12] Why'd they call you that? [00:24:14] Was a prospector until I decided to settle here to get away from the NCR. [00:24:20] Now we'll just take it easy and help out with the Brahmin and Bighorners. [00:24:26] Prospector, like gold and silver? [00:24:29] They're still doing mining out here? [00:24:32] Nah, nah. [00:24:34] Means I poke through old buildings looking for working tech and such. [00:24:39] Some folks just call it salvaging, but never like the term. [00:24:44] Way I see it, salvage means it's broken, near worthless. [00:24:48] Me, I look for the good stuff: guns, chems, spare parts, good money in it. [00:24:54] They call them drugs where I come from, but uh, anyway, you ever find anything good while you were prospecting? [00:25:00] No. [00:25:01] Had a pretty good claim once, way out east by the river, but got off raiders. [00:25:08] Eventually got too old to keep going out. [00:25:13] I feel that. [00:25:14] I can't believe I'm vertical right now. [00:25:17] Hey, you're mentioning the NCR. [00:25:19] Like, I know a bit. [00:25:20] I've been out to California before, I think. [00:25:24] What's wrong with them? [00:25:26] Don't get me wrong. [00:25:27] The NCR's got a lot of decent folk in it. [00:25:30] It's just that they make you part of them, whether you like it or not. [00:25:34] Towns like Good Springs and Prim don't stay independent for long. [00:25:39] Not if you've got something the NCR wants. [00:25:42] Still, the NCR keeps the Legion away. [00:25:45] Wait, wait, the who? [00:25:48] They keep the Legion away? [00:25:49] They're slavers, led by a guy named Caesar, or Kaiser. [00:25:55] Not sure how you're supposed to say it. [00:25:57] A couple of years ago, they tried to take over Hoover Dam, but the NCR beat them back. [00:26:03] The NCR didn't or couldn't finish the job, though. [00:26:07] The Legion's got its strength back and is getting ready for another round at the dam. [00:26:13] My money's still on the NCR winning, but you never know. [00:26:17] We've been hearing stories about Legionaries on the Nevada side of the river. [00:26:22] So keep a gun handy. [00:26:24] You don't want to get caught by them. [00:26:28] Well, keep that in mind. [00:26:29] No offense, ECP, to try and avoid getting involved in local politics, you know what I mean? [00:26:34] But Hoover Dam, I read about that once. [00:26:38] That's something pre-war, ain't it? [00:26:40] What's so important about it? [00:26:42] The dam powers a lot of New Vegas. [00:26:44] And then there's all that clean water lying in Lake Mead, too. [00:26:48] Anybody who owns the dam owns the territory. [00:26:51] I can't believe we're still fighting over ancient history, but yeah. [00:26:57] Same anywhere I go. [00:27:00] You said ba bighorners? [00:27:01] I know a brahmina. [00:27:02] What's the bighorner again? [00:27:04] Meet and hide mostly. [00:27:07] Can't put it back on them. [00:27:08] They just lay down until you take it off. [00:27:10] I gotta respect that. [00:27:11] Find a bunch of wild ones high up in the hills, but gotta be careful around them. [00:27:16] They can put up a decent fight if wanted. [00:27:20] I like them already. [00:27:22] Say, that robot that dug me out of my grave. [00:27:28] You know about him? [00:27:30] The machine? [00:27:32] Harmless. [00:27:33] No matter what Trudy says. [00:27:35] She thinks it's hiding something. [00:27:37] But I think it's just a broken down relic with no place to be. [00:27:42] Probably why I like that thing. [00:27:43] And probably I like you, Easy Pete. [00:27:47] It's been a pleasure chatting with you. [00:27:49] Thank you for the advice. [00:27:50] Keep your gun handy if you go poking around some of the abandoned places around here, like the schoolhouse. [00:27:57] Critters move in there sometimes. [00:28:00] Well, keep that in mind. [00:28:03] Stay easy, Easy Pete. [00:28:06] And folks, I'm just gonna do a quick save.
