[00:01:22]  The White House saying that the President is dispatching his negotiating team led by JD Vance, his vice president, Steve Wickoff, his U.S. Special Envoy, and his son-in-law Jared Kushner.
[00:01:35]  There was plenty to talk about today in the wake of that two-week ceasefire agreement announced last night.
[00:01:41]  Caroline Levitt, they're going for a little over half an hour with reporters taking mostly questions back and forth after a brief opening statement.
[00:01:50]  We want to hear from you your thoughts on the latest on the ceasefire with Iran, the latest on those comments from the White House briefing room.

[00:02:17]  Chuck Schumer, the Senate Minority Leader, announcing that he will be forcing a war powers vote in the Senate next week.
[00:02:25]  C-SPAN's Craig Kaplan quoting Chuck Schumer from his press conference from earlier today, saying Republicans will once again have the opportunity to join Democrats and end this reckless war of choice.
[00:02:37]  Three other attempts to advance the Iran war powers resolution in the Senate were blocked mainly along party lines.
[00:02:45]  And so we'll see what happens next week.

[00:02:55]  The vice president, we noted, is headed to Pakistan for those negotiations.
[00:03:00]  They're set to begin on Saturday today.
[00:03:02]  He was in Hungary.
[00:03:03]  He's been having meetings in that country.
[00:03:07]  And he was asked about the ceasefire much earlier today.
[00:03:11]  Here is JD Vance talking about what he called a fragile truce.
[00:03:16]  I have the opportunity now to ask you about Iran.
[00:03:19]  There are latest developments, I think very positive developments during the night that we received that there is a ceasefire.
[00:03:27]  What can we do no more about the latest developments in the Middle East?
[00:03:32]  Yes, that's why I was a little late this morning.
[00:03:34]  I was very up very late last night and talking about that.
[00:03:37]  Look, I do think there are good developments here.
[00:03:40]  And let me just say a few things.
[00:03:41]  First of all, what the President set out to do was decimate the Iranian military, decimate their ability to wage conventional war.
[00:03:50]  And that military objective, as the President said yesterday, as I said yesterday, has been achieved.
[00:03:55]  And because of that, what the President did is he basically issued an ultimatum to the Iranians.
[00:03:59]  He said, open up the straits, stop trying to hold the world's economy hostage, and we'll engage in a ceasefire.
[00:04:06]  And that's exactly the agreement that we came to last night.
[00:04:09]  The Iranians have agreed to open up the straits.
[00:04:11]  The United States has agreed to stop attacking.
[00:04:14]  And that, not just the United States, but also our allies, have agreed to stop attacking.
[00:04:18]  And that is the basis of this fragile truce that we have, which is now eight to 12 hours old.
[00:04:24]  Now, here's what I'll say about this.
[00:04:26]  I've learned a lot about the Iranian system and a lot about the way the Iranians negotiate.
[00:04:30]  Because the president told me last night the Iranians are better negotiators than they are fighters.
[00:04:35]  I'm sure they don't like to hear that, but it's true.
[00:04:38]  But here's a couple things.
[00:04:39]  So, one, just in the response that we've seen from various segments of Iran, you have on the one hand, people within Iran who have responded very favorably.
[00:04:49]  The foreign minister who said, look, we agreed to the United States' terms.
[00:04:54]  We'll do a ceasefire.
[00:04:55]  We'll do a negotiation.
[00:04:57]  We'll open the straits of Hormuz, and then we'll see if we can come to more agreement down the road.
[00:05:02]  So some of the people have responded favorably and have said the right things.
[00:05:06]  And then you have some people on social media within their system who are basically lying about what we've accomplished militarily.
[00:05:15]  They're lying about the nature of the agreement.
[00:05:17]  They're lying about the nature of the ceasefire.
[00:05:19]  And so you have just even within their system, and this is why I say this is a fragile truce, you have people who clearly want to come to the negotiating table and work with us to find a good deal.
[00:05:28]  And then you have people who are lying about even the fragile truce that we've already struck.
[00:05:33]  And that's just an interesting thing about their system.
[00:05:35]  And the final point that I'll say about this is the President of the United States has told me, and he's told the entire negotiating team, the Secretary of State, the Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, he said, go and work in good faith to come to an agreement.
[00:05:49]  That is what he has told us to do.
[00:05:51]  If the Iranians are willing in good faith to work with us, I think we can make an agreement.
[00:05:56]  If they're going to lie, if they're going to cheat, if they're going to try to prevent even the fragile truce that we've set up from taking place, then they're not going to be happy.
[00:06:08]  Because what the president has also shown is that we still have clear military, diplomatic, and maybe most importantly, we have extraordinary economic leverage.
[00:06:17]  So the president has told us not to use those tools.
[00:06:20]  He's told us to come to the negotiating table.
[00:06:22]  But if the Iranians don't do the exact same thing, they're going to find out that the President of the United States is not one to mess around.
[00:06:30]  He's impatient.
[00:06:31]  He's impatient to make progress.
[00:06:33]  He has told us to negotiate in good faith.
[00:06:35]  And I think if they negotiate in good faith, we will be able to find a deal.
[00:06:37]  But that's a big if, and ultimately, it's up to the Iranians how they negotiate.
[00:06:41]  I hope they make the right decision.
[00:06:47]  Vice President JD Vance from earlier today, he was talking about the nature of agreements, the nature of the ceasefire.
[00:06:54]  President Trump taking to his truth social page to talk about reports about what is and isn't in the agreement.
[00:07:02]  This is what the president said just after noon, saying numerous agreements, lists, and letters are being sent out by people that have absolutely nothing to do with the USA-Iran negotiations.
[00:07:13]  In many cases, they are total fraudsters, charlatans, and worse.
[00:07:17]  The president is saying there's only one group of meaningful points that are acceptable to the United States, and we will be discussing them behind closed doors during these negotiations.
[00:07:27]  He goes on from there.
[00:07:28]  It's Vice President JD Vance who will be meeting behind closed doors starting on Saturday morning.
[00:07:34]  It is Steve Wickoff, the U.S. Special Envoy Jared Kushner, part of that team that will be participating in these negotiations in Pakistan.
[00:07:43]  We're taking your phone calls this afternoon, and we are waiting to see if President Trump will chat with reporters ahead or perhaps after his meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Ruda.
[00:07:57]  That's happening, expected to happen at 3 p.m. today.
[00:08:00]  You heard Caroline Levitt in the White House briefing room say that one of the things that the president will at least be talking about or has contemplated is the idea of withdrawing from NATO and having that conversation with the Secretary General today here in D.C., the Secretary General met earlier today with Secretary of State Marco Rubio here in Washington, D.C., and is headed to the White House this afternoon.

[00:08:39]  I'm amazed how few people understand the history of Iraq.
[00:08:45]  The United States had the CIA depose an elected government in 1957 and imposed the Shah.

[00:08:59]  I'm amazed how few people understand the history of Iran.
[00:09:03]  They had a democratically controlled government until 1957, who was considered pro-Soviet, possibly.
[00:09:12]  The CIA orchestrated a revolution and imposed the Shah of Iran, for which the Iranian people have never forgiven us.
[00:09:20]  After we've bombed them, they will never, ever forgive the United States or Israel.
[00:09:25]  Secondly, historically, no war conducted solely by air power has ever been successful.

[00:14:08]  The reporting from Bloomberg, according to ship tracking data compiled by Bloomberg, just three ships were observed leaving the region on Wednesday.
