And we'll continue on talking about some of these states we've gone through the Virginia, New Jersey.
We'll look at New York City in a little bit and that Proposition 50 measure in California.
We'll hear from you during the course of our time together.
202-748-8000 for Democrats.
Republicans 202-748-8001.
Independents 202-748-8002.
Derek in Wisconsin and Milwaukee, Independent Line.
Thanks for waiting.
Go ahead.
unidentified
Yes, sir.
Good morning.
pedro echevarria
You're on.
Go ahead.
unidentified
Yes, I would just want to make a quick comment and to ask the question.
How can someone support the shutdown?
I mean, support Donald Trump when he's not for all Americans, whether you voted for him or not.
And how can you open up a government if you don't negotiate with the other side of the party?
And how could it be a KR if a bill has already passed with a permanent tax break for the rich instead of the hardworking Americans?
Can someone explain that part to me?
pedro echevarria
Kurt joins us from New Jersey, Independent Line.
Go ahead.
unidentified
You're next up.
Good morning, America.
Anywhere else in store checkout line, we're all best friends and love speaking to each other, but when politics are involved, quite dangerous.
As far as the shutdown goes, they had to stop Trump.
He's on a roll.
So they just took a month out of his 10 months of success.
And sadly, that's how I see it.
I'm an independent.
You know, this way I keep my head down when people start shooting.
I think they're described right now the process of defining our Civil War is socialism against the Second Amendment or something.
But the truth is, okay, so New Jersey.
pedro echevarria
Who are you voting for for governor?
unidentified
Oh, Citarelli.
I voted the first hour of early voting.
I just saw that they're casting out bomb threats in northern New Jersey now and closing down polls, which is, I hope the FBI finds out.
pedro echevarria
Well, about Mr. Chitterelli specifically, why are you voting for him?
unidentified
Well, because he's not a Democrat.
He's got Trump's support.
You've heard that.
You know, I believe that MAGA is the only alternative to Democrat and Republican.
So he's something new.
He's going to lessen gun regulations, hopefully.
Hopefully he'll come in and get rid of the windmills, which are killing everything.
Can't even catch a fish down at the beach anymore.
pedro echevarria
Okay, that's Kurt, New Jersey.
Let's hear from Lorraine in Maryland, Republican line.
Good morning.
unidentified
Good morning.
I just doubted a number.
I am actually a Democrat.
pedro echevarria
I'm going to ask you to hold off then and please call in again and call the line that we have set aside for Democrats.
It's 202-748-8000.
And if you wouldn't mind only to keep people on the correct lane when they call in, that's the line for Democrats: 202-748-8001 for Republicans and 202-748-8002 for Independents.
Randy in New York, Democrats line.
unidentified
Hello.
Good morning and happy election day.
pedro echevarria
You're on.
Go ahead.

What I wanted to talk about, the shutdown, specifically, there's one topic that hasn't come up in the shutdown and negotiations, and that is with the amount of deficit that's going to increase with the billionaire tax break, there's going to be a point where we're going to meet this threshold for a thing called sequestration, which is automatic cuts across departments.
