[00:00:07] Woman seek recognition. [00:00:09] I ask for the yeas and nays. [00:00:16] The yeas and nays are requested. [00:00:17] Those favoring a vote by the yeas and nays will rise. [00:00:21] A sufficient number having risen, the yeas and nays are ordered. [00:00:23] Pursuant to clause 8 of Rule 20. [00:00:25] Further proceedings on this question will be postponed. [00:00:29] Pursuant to Clause 12A of Rule 1, the chair declares the House in recess for a period less than 15 minutes. [00:00:40] The House is in a recess and will continue with our live coverage when lawmakers return to session. [00:01:02] South Carolina Republican Congressman Ralph Norman joins us. [00:01:05] He is joining us two days after Speaker Johnson was picked to lead House Republicans in the 119th Congress. [00:01:11] And Congressman Norman, do you expect him to have any issues winning the speaker vote on the House floor on January 3rd, that first vote of the new Congress? [00:01:22] Well, I think it will be an interesting time. [00:01:25] I think people are rallying behind Mike Johnson. [00:01:29] I think the president, that's his choice, and I think we'll give Mike the leeway he needs to really promote the agenda of what this president was almost overwhelmingly elected to do. [00:01:43] So I'm excited about it. [00:01:44] I've read an Associated Press story this week. [00:01:46] You were quoted as saying Speaker Johnson's challenge is what it's always been, but with Trump in charge, it'll be easier for him to deliver. [00:01:53] What do you mean by that? [00:01:55] Well, you know, what we faced with the Biden administration was sure vetoes on anything of substance that we wanted, that the conservatives wanted to push. [00:02:04] With President Trump, it's a whole different day now. [00:02:07] And I think President Trump will be a backstop for getting this country back on track. [00:02:11] Look, the last four years have been dismal. [00:02:14] This country responded the way that I'm glad they did, which is we can't keep going like this. [00:02:21] And the fact they gave Donald Trump an overwhelming vote of support, I think will carry through the new year and the next four years, honestly. [00:02:30] After that speaker vote, it gets less attention, but it's the vote on the rules of the 119th Congress. [00:02:38] You tweeted this week regarding the proposed new House rules. [00:02:41] We have absolutely no room for error in the 119th Congress. [00:02:45] Why are we already seeking to punish members for voting their conscience? [00:02:48] What are you talking about there? [00:02:50] Well, that never came up. [00:02:53] The amendments that we considered yesterday, they withdrew those. [00:02:56] Look, then. [00:02:57] What were those amendments about?
