	Speaking of ground zero, since pandemic is the very reason we started this podcast, we always seem to circle back to Mickey Willis.
	Today, we're going to review a recent webinar he put on entitled Stronger Than the Storm.
	And it features Rebel Lions own Mickey Willis, his wife.
	Nadia and Chris Roy.
	I see what he did there, but he's kind of inversed the meaning of the storm in QAnon lore, right?
	Because it's actually a bad thing.
	yeah.
	Yeah.
	Yeah.
	Derek, it's difficult for me to say thank you for drawing this webinar to my attention.
	I mean, it's good that we're covering it, but I have to say, it was painful to sit through.
	And the reasons for that pain will become apparent as we proceed.
	But I also want to say how disappointing it was to see Chris Roy on camera with Mickey and Nadia.
	He's someone I used to know here in LA years ago.
	He's a really nice guy.
	It's a shame just on a personal note to see that he's involved with Mickey so closely.
	And I know you knew that already.
	Yeah, it is disappointinting.
	I didn't know Chris well, but I did work with him closely on a project.
	I was the creative director of the Tadasana Festival in 2012.
	It's how I met you.
	It's how I initially met Mickey, who I do not know well, but we did have a few meetings.
	And Chris and I worked on all of the marketing collateral and the website and everything around this project.
	Him and his wife ran an interactive company and really only good interactions with him all the time.
	So seeing the pivot to Austin and now he's also one of the founders of Rebel Lions was very disappointing.
	Mickey opens with a 9-11 anecdote.
	And he often uses this as a sort of origin myth.
	Like a lot of people, like myself, I was there on that day.
	He was in New York on that day.
	He was apparently helping out at Ground Zero.
	I don't know for how long, but I will say that he uses this every time he has a project or a fundraiser.
	He talks about it and it's become a very malleable tale.
	He kind of segue it into whatever piece of content he's producing at that moment.
	Yeah, it's all very self-aggrandizing.
	I mean, in some tellings of the story, he goes into this like visionary altered state where he's seeing like all the ghosts and he's just having this very powerful experience.
	And no doubt it's a traumatic, hugely impactful moment for anyone who I imagine was actually there.
	But the way that he uses it as part of his myth of how he became the person he is today is pretty disturbing to me.
	At one point, he says during this webinar, I made a choice while standing on the rubble to look beyond this material world, right?
	And find out what's really, really important, what's really going on.
	He paints himself as this heroic figure who, you know it appears has a spiritual destiny to learn the deep truths by being present then at multiple disasters as he kind of unfolds through this webinar yeah there's a very deeply religious aspect to this webinar and a lot of the content since COVID that him and his team has have produced we didn't clip any of the deep religious stuff but we will talk about it a little bit because it was disturbingly evangelical in a lot of ways
	yeah He also brings that in because in this webinar, he's talking about dealing firsthand with the catastrophic flooding in Texas that occurred recently.
	Him and his family now live there.
	And he mentions the sort of Hollywood.
	He's a filmmaker.
	He comes from Hollywood.
	He invokes the Hollywood villain story that we all seem to be enduring right now as a society.
	Now, from there, and this is leading into the first clip, he discusses how he wants to use his craft of storytelling.
	And as I flagged, it gets very religious very quickly.
	I realized very quickly that I was selling products through hollywood that i wouldn't even use myself nor would i dare allow my children or my wife to use and really passing on their stories, sharing their stories.
	And the stories we tell really become the story of our lives.
	And so we have to be careful when we're sharing the history of, for instance, so many Hollywood stories view humanity as a parasite, as a problem, as a failed experiment.
	And just that mindset alone is what has driven us and so many people to be so destructive.
	Because once you buy into that and you've missed out on the truth, which is that we are brilliant and resilient beyond words and that we were placed here.
	here by an intelligent creation, creator that matters and that we matter and that what we do and everything we think do and say really does make a difference on this planet and so that's what this webinar is about today about what we've witnessed being on the front line of these disasters We'll tell you some stories, some heartbreaking stories, and also some very inspiring stories.
	The confidence he has just to kind of riff like this in a way that actually makes no sense whatsoever just never fails to impress me as well as disgust me.
	But hold up a second.
	He's talking like he had some kind of career in Hollywood.
	And you kind of mentioned it that way too.
	But really, he had a little independent film company in Santa Monica that tried to make spiritual filmal films called Elevate and he aligned with Michael Beckwith and his Agape Church.
	And, you know, he's sort of positioned himself as a documentary filmmaker.
	He also did some fundraising projects that films never came out of, but he kept all the money that he raised, you know.
	So it's a huge stretch that he had a career in Hollywood.
	And then second, what are the products that he's talking about selling through Hollywood?
	It seems like there's some sleight of hand in there where he's actually talking about as a product the corrupting stories of Hollywood, starting to use this Christian rhetoric about how they tell us, you know, that we're just a parasite and we don't have meaning and we're not endowed with divinity by our Creator, right?
	I did notice that product thing.
	And if you were to listen to this full hour webinar, if you wanted to break your brain and actually transcribe it as we do when we're looking at these things, there's no actual logic going on.
	You'll just notice he jumps from thing to thing throughout it.
	You know, you mentioned the Christian rhetoric placed here as if we were put here for some reason.
	That is always the tell, right, that you're dealing with some deeply metaphysical ideology.
	Also notice along with Christian rhetoric, allow my wife to use.
	I'm not a parent.
	If you say allow my children to use, I get that.
	I get that.
	You know, depending on their age and their young sons, that's fine.
	But allow my wife to use jumped out at me.
	And speaking of his wife, Nadia, let's hear her intro.
	And again, just remember as we go through this, this is all a sales pitch for a supplement.
	All of the stories they're telling.
	is really just about giving you that discount code at the end.
	Yep.
	See if you can pick that out in her rhetoric.
	As Mickey said, we are going to share some incredible stories about our own personal experiences with the flood.
	We also are here to give you practices and protocols to really stay immune to all of this crisis that is happening and unfortunately will continue to happen and what we can do as individuals and as a community to empower ourselves to be able to have strength through it all and thrive through it all.
	But I know before we want to really get started, we just wanted to put up a disclaimer because we are talking about health products and also health practices.
	And of course, we're not doctors.
	We have to say this.
	We're not treating, curing or healing anything.
	Just wanted to put the disclaimer, give everybody that disclaimer first.
	Yeah.
	Yeah, the whole way through that, Mickey kind of puts his chin in his hand and he's just looking at the camera with the smile on his face like, yeah, this is all bullshit that we have to say.
	And they're just kind of waiting for it to be on.
	They're like, yeah.
	Okay, now we've done that.
	We've gotten that out of the way.
	And we can just circle back later and make a bunch of unevidenced claims about the supplement we're here to sell because that is the protocol that she's mentioning is a supplement.
	And I guess the practice is like lifting it up to put it in your mouth.
	Well, did you get it?
	Stay immune.
	How can you stay immune?
	They're very slick.
	The other protocol that she repeats throughout is actually prayer.
	That's where they fall back to repeatedly.
	They say prayer is an important part of staying healthy.
	It gets a lot more twisted than that, but we'll get there.
	Let's move on to the next clip.
	So after mentioning the Texas floods and most of the story throughout this webinar is about the flooding in Texas.
	They then assure everyone that if you are at this webinar, you are a sane, healthy human because you chose to watch them instead of watching Netflix, which is draining our lifeblood, Mickey quickly gets into it from there.
	Yeah, okay, I'll be a little controversial here.
	I believe that the weather is being manipulated and I know that a lot of you do too.
	And it's proven, it's out there, these things are patented.
	And so how much of it is, some of it's natural, some of it's not, we really don't know and I don't know if we'll ever be able to tell that.
	But it certainly appears that these things come up at very interesting moments, very interesting moments, and that they're always the record setting, that historical hurricanes and earthquakes and all these things happening.
	And it's an interesting thing to ponder.
	It's an interesting thing to ponder, Mickey, because of course stacks of evidence going back decades about climate change couldn't possibly be the explanation.
	No, there has to be a group of elites behind the increasingly extreme weather disasters.
	He's so close and yet miles away.
	And why would they be doing this to Texas when Texas just gerrymandered the shit out of the state to secure five more congressional seats?
	It makes absolutely no sense if there is this nefarious agent.
	You think they probably live in Texas.
	They're not going to be doing that to Texas.
	Yes, there are some weather modification programs in China, there's been a the weather modification department since the 1990s.
	Yeah.
	It generally hasn't worked very well when they've tried to do it.
	Yeah.
	And essentially, what they've been trying to do is increase their crop yield by increasing rainfall.
	And there've been all kinds of scientific attempts to do this and they've largely failed.
	And they've tried to clear up weather during the Olympics and there's stories about that as well.
	So that's usually what becomes the brainworm in the conspiracy theorist's mind.
	Yeah.
	The idea that the U.S. is doing this writ large and specifically the deep state is just utter bullshit, but it feeds into just the conspiratorial narrative that drives everything that he does at this point it really becomes apparent you can just see it in his face yeah and this was a very big thing during the hurricanes last year too is that all of the maga sort of q on adjacent people and rfk jr and a lot of his associates got into this idea that the hurricanes were being deliberately steered and controlled by like satellite you
	know secret weather whatever manipulation and it's Yeah, it's just, it's part of the narrative now.
	The chunk of this webinar has to do with the Hammond family.
	So a little bit of context.
	And it's a very sad story.
	The Hammonds were on their way to a Christian summer camp because their daughter, Maleya, was going to be a counselor at it.
	She's 17 years old.
	The flooding began as they were driving and they drove over a washed out bridge.
	At just that moment, the bridge collapsed.
	They got the door open and the family escaped, but Maleya.
	got pulled into the current and she drowned.
	Yeah.
	And there's a very important little piece here that I wanted to interrupt you to say, which is that they did not have adequate, correct, timely information about how bad the flooding was.
	And I would wager that that is directly tied to a lot of the cuts that have been happening with this new administration, where there's just like a complete lack of communication, lack of correctly monitoring and getting the word out to people about where they're going to be in this kind of calamitous and tragic danger.
	Right.
	So the deep state is in the communication systems that's supposed to help the citizens, not the actual rainfall that caused the flooding.
	Be very clear on that.
	It is a tragic story.
	I read up on it while I was going through this webinar.
	Let's listen to where.
	Mickey takes this horrible story.
	I will say that the Hammond family, which many of you know our story and our connection with the Hammond family, because they keep in really good health, healthy family, that makes healthy mind.
	And a healthy mind makes good decisions.
	And a good decision then helps you through these tragedies in such a way that it doesn't necessarily have to become PTSD or something that takes you years to heal from.
	And I know this simply because when I was at the World Trade Center, a lot of people I was with didn't fare as well as I did.
	But it was a conscious choice I made while on the rubble to make sure that I looked at this environment with gratitude as horrible as it was to find a purpose and what I call divine consciousness in the situation.
	And that mindset, that perspective is what got me through that without dealing with what a lot of people that I was with that are either dead now or very sick are dealing with.
	And so we've created this because as most of you, we actually for that purpose, we created an immune formula that we're we have an offer we'll extend later, but we're going to try to find some way to make sure that everyone involved in these critical crises is protecting their health.
	I have never extended a fuck you as big to anyone as I will right now to what Mickey Willis just did.
	did throw 9-11 firemen, police officers, volunteers under the bus like that.
	I don't know how long he was down at ground zero.
	I don't think it was the months that other people spent clearing up the rubble, the people who died and who got very sick that he's referencing.
	Maybe it was a day, maybe it was two.
	Who knows?
	Who knows how close he was or what he did because I don't trust anything he says.
	But just to use that to then pivot to sell your fucking supplements and to use their friends because what I found in local Austin reporting was that they were friends with the Hammond family as you'll hear, they do go on the search and rescue mission, supposedly with them.
	They go on to tell the story for another 20 minutes after this point.
	So you hear about all of this stuff, but then you hear them talk about how amazing it was to find Maleya's body in pristine condition three days later.
	I mean, again, it's a horrible, horrible story.
	But why are you fucking telling it to sell supplements?
	If these people were really your friends, how are you honoring them by using their deceased daughter in this context?
	Yeah.
	Yeah.
	And, you know, it's for me, it starts with the self-aggrandizement of like, I did much better than other people because I had the right mindset and I could see it through this particular spiritual lens.
	And, you know, having a healthy mind leads to good decisions.
	I don't know if driving out on that bridge was such a great decision.
	He's talking more about like ways of fooling yourself about painful emotions.
	This is the point in the webinar where I just found my stomach.
	tightened and it stayed that way all the way through the end because the cognitive dissonance, the shameless self-serving exploitation really disgusts me.
	And honestly, I just have to say this is one of the lines of religious thinking I detest the most because I find it deeply dishonest intellectually and emotionally, the impulse to find miracles and evidence of God all around the most senseless and devastating loss is just ludicrous to me.
	Like I guess I just don't have the gene that does that.
	I know it's so common, right?
	You'll even hear news reporters refer to like the one child who survived in a terrible accident where ten others died and they'll say, well, this is obviously a miracle.
	I don't know.
	In this case, it's an even worse example because this poor teenage girl was washed away.
	She drowned.
	But supposedly the only way to explain how her body was found in a not mangled state like everything else around her is that god decided to let her die but keep her body in good condition and then somehow the implication is that if you take your supplements you'll heroically withstand something as absolutely awful as this and in the case of the parents right we share our sentiments around religion in general around the idea of god and you know,
	I want to be very clear as I always am is if you find something of value that helps you become a better person or a calmer person through religion, I would never criticize that.
	I don't really even want to get in those debates because people find help in different places.
	But my problem is someone commented about a recent episode just today and they said they see God as a unified field of energy or something of that nature.
	And from my perspective, it's like if you have this thing that can't be defined, it's defined differently by everyone.
	I don't really understand the utility of the discussion, of even having a discussion around it, because if you can't find a common term to talk about it, then it's not very useful and it's only going to end up being circular all over the place.
	I will say that the way that they're using God in this webinar, though, is the more malicious and disgusting ways that I really do have a problem with for some of the holes that you pointed out.
	There's another moment where the parents supposedly said after they went back into the river when they found the daughter's body and they said something like, you know, now she's on to her better existence, something of that nature while in the moment.
	If that's going to help comfort them.
	Again, I have no problem with that.
	It's an improvable thing to ever think.
	But the fact that Willis is leveraging it to say how amazing God is because he wants to sell you a supplement, that's what we're really doing here.
	And that's where I have a real problem with how religion is used.
	Yeah.
	Yeah.
	And it's also this.
	It's this way of interpreting reality that says, I had this experience.
	In the midst of the experience, I realized something metaphysically undeniable, that this is proof of God.
	And it's like, what?
	Like any of that kind of thing.
	It's like, yeah, sure.
	something gives you solace, I'm not going to knock it.
	I do have a psychological sort of...
	But that's different than this kind of rhetoric that goes down this road of like actually claiming to have discovered certain facts about the nature of reality and why things happen the way they happen.
	And that just always, I find it very unbelievable and intellectually dishonest.
	Yes.
	And you just segue to the next clip.
	We're off script here, but you segue perfectly because the next up, we are going to have one of those revelatory moments.
	And just for context here, Matthew is the father.
	Matthew comes up with his head wet.
	He just yells Malaya.
	And now this is in this canyon, this beautiful canyon that looked like it was straight something from Bali with vines and everything.
	And it echoed through this canyon.
	And now we hadn't seen the sun for six days.
	And the moment he yelled her name, the clouds literally parted.
	Now we can say, Okay, whatever, just a coincidence, but too many of those things happened.
	And I'm not one of those guys.
	Nadi will tell you.
	Anyone who knows me will tell you.
	I'm, I have to be skeptical in my work.
	So I don't always, I don't buy into things right away.
	And I hear people, they see signs everywhere.
	And I say, Maybe, it's possible.
	I don't shut it down, but I don't subscribe to it immediately.
	We saw so many things that strengthened my faith and just gave me that solid foundation to know, as I said at the beginning of this webinar, we're not alone.
	And there's an incredible natural force that is there sustaining our lives.
	And I think the people behind these agendas, and again, we don't know how much of it is agenda, how much of it is a natural occurrence, we don't know.
	But there are definitely bad people on this planet who have gone bad, who have lost their connection with God.
	And that's the only way that you can do horrible things like this.
	Yeah, I wish you would have applied some of that skepticism before you platformed fucking Judy Mikowitz.
	Yeah, he's super skeptical.
	You know, it's this framing that it's really interesting.
	It's really, really interesting because it's classic, right?
	All of the good things that happen, they're undeniable proof of this invisible force of God that sustains all of us.
	The bad thing that we're being traumatized by that is just devastating and senseless and overwhelming in its power.
	That's obviously being caused by evil human beings.
	Like that's not a quote unquote act of God.
	So this is very interesting.
	And it's a very classic way of trying to make sense of.
	just the intensity and the trauma of what they're going through.
	So clearly they've been through something very powerful.
	He's talking about these moments that he has where you're in this altered state and, you know, you remember things very vividly.
	He's really good at telling the story.
	The head comes up.
	The head is, the hair is wet.
	He cries out into the void, the name of his daughter who he's never going to see again.
	The clouds part and the light comes down.
	Yeah, that's when you're in that heightened state of adrenaline and who knows how else we can explain it in terms of brain activity and neurotransmitters and emotions, everything is charged with this powerful sense of significance because you are trying to survive.
	And so everything is really, really significant.
	And I just wish he had better tools.
	We talk about Mickey's conspiracy propaganda film Pandemic as a key part of this podcast's origin story.
	But I think here we see the full fruition of one of my central contentions in my work on the show, which is that conspiracy logic and religious ideation rely on very similar forms of motivated reasoning.
	You know, there are no coincidences.
	The world is full of signs that can confirm both your worst fears about the cabal that's behind everything and then your deepest faith in an unseen reality that we can all wake up into if we can sort of interpret the signs correctly.
	Well, Julian, do you think it could get any worse than what we've heard so far?
	I mean, I'm hoping not, but I have actually listened.
	Well, guess what?
	Perfect metaphor for it is we all understand at this point the importance of border security.
	We saw what happened during the Biden administration when ten million plus people poured in.
	We're now dealing with it.
	We see what's happening in the UK with allowing open borders to happen.
	It's changing the demographic.
	It's creating a lot of turmoil and chaos.
	And the native people that were born and raised there no longer feel safe and connected with their own homeland.
	And it's very similar to what goes on in the body.
	Our immune system is our border security.
	And so when that is not built, then we allow all these invaders to come in and attack and to attack.
	Yeah.
	When he's just riffing like that man, he said the demographic thing, which is like great replacement theory, bullshit.
	And then he refers to the native people who are the people, the white people who were born and raised in this country.
	You know, we've talked about knowing Chris Roy.
	And I just have to say, like, it's one of the first things I noticed, because you clipped this part for our Instagram.
	And I was like, wait, wait, that's Chris Roy.
	And he looks deeply uncomfortable.
	Like, what the hell am I doing here right now?
	And where is Mickey going with this?
	And Nadia kind of has a similar look in her face, like, oh, wait, we're talking about border security now.
	What the hell's going on?
	She jumps in after the moment that I clipped to try to clean it up.
	And you can almost look like Mickey being a little chastised because it's just like, he does say after this, of course, of course, immigrants aren't all bad people.
	Something very trumpy.
	And directly after this, and then Nadia comes in.
	But even just to suggest any of that, and again, it's to sell a fucking supplement.
	Let's not forget the real thing that's going on here.
	You're going to love where he takes it next.
	This is very much an aside from.
	most of the content I've clipped so far, I really did clip this one just for you, though, Julian.
	Oh, thank you.
	Just before I came into the studio to do this webinar, we're actually working on a movie right now.
	And a big chunk of the movie is about the way that our music in the 1950s was tuned away from hertz, like 432 hertz.
	It's known as a harmonious, unifying frequency.
	And it was tuned to 440 and different frequencies that are more chaotic, more divisive.
	And you have to really look at that and understand there's actually an organization that controls the standard of music.
	I didn't even know this.
	And they came out with their bulletin of this is what music should be tuned to.
	So everybody, we need a unified standard music tuning.
	And then all the composers and people started tuning to this chaotic frequency.
	And that's again another tidbit of proof that there are forces that don't want us in our natural state of being, that don't want us harmonizing.
	What happens when we're in a harmonious state?
	It's amazing.
	It's amazing how this particular way of thinking can turn anything into a diabolical conspiracy that's about robbing us of our true nature.
	I got so kind of nerdy about this because I'm into this kind of stuff on a real level that I missed that he said this is a big chunk of the movie.
	This is going to be part of their movie is talking about the shadowy cabal who standardized the chaotic frequency that is just making us all lose our harmony.
	It's amazing.
	Look, A440.
	is not a chaotic frequency it's just it's a mathematical convention agreed upon to standardize tuning across instruments and orchestras like let's all agree that the note a refers to this specific sound so we're all literally on the same page when we're looking at a musical score.
	The page of the deep state.
	Some of This Mickey simply has to do with the physics of woodwind instruments in heated concert halls so they can play in tune.
	And it's also about singers who travel around the world and need the music they've practiced to not be higher or lower pitched when they actually get into the performance setting.
