"Biohacking expert" Kayla Barnes recently published a 31-minute video about her morning routine, filled with EMF-blocking shields, grounding protocols, and 40 different daily supplements. Good if you can afford it, but then she sells questionable protocols at her Cleveland, Ohio-based clinic, Lyv Wellness, despite having no clinical training. Derek watches what she says, then watches what she sells.

Today I'm gonna be showing you my full morning routine.
We've done a full video on kind of like sleep optimization and some of the stuff that I use, but my morning routine is not only gonna improve my health span and longevity with all of the different activities we're gonna do, but it's also setting my mind for the day.
So it's putting me in a positive headspace, giving me more energy and focus throughout the day.
So I'm gonna take you through the whole thing.
Sleep is the foundation of health and And I do so much to ensure I have optimal sleep from this EMF blocking Faraday cage, we turn the Wi-Fi off completely at night, the phone is on airplane mode, and I also have a 100% organic got certified mattress, so no VOCs, no off gassing, all organic sheets, a grounding mat on the bed, and so much more.
So come on and we're going to start the That's self-proclaimed biohacking expert Kayla Barnes, who is also the co-owner of an optimization space called Live Wellness in Cleveland, Ohio.
I'll get to her center in a little while.
That clip is from a 31-minute YouTube video that she recently posted called, My Morning Routine for Optimal Health and Longevity.
And indeed, that's what she's presenting herself to her 377,000 Instagram followers as an expert in what she calls in all capital letters, Health Optimization and Longevity.
Now I'm going to lead you through some of this video and then I'm going to get into some of what Live Wellness offers.
I will note that in the short clip that you just heard, the EMF blocking Faraday cage is the first red flag you're going to hear there because There's really no evidence of EMFs having any sort of impact on our body or that this exceedingly expensive line of products that has been appearing over the last few years.
You might remember I covered Luke Story who wears EMF blocking boxer shorts for example, there's EMF blocking hats.
The artist M.I.A.
announced on Alex Jones' InfoWars earlier this year that she has an EMF-blocking clothing line that's now out.
Well, there's no evidence that that actually does anything, but you probably won't be surprised by that.
But I do want to give a little context here.
By saying, if you want to spend all of this money on these products and services that you're going to hear in this video, I have no problem with that.
I don't really care how people spend their money.
But the problem, and this is what we're going to get to, is what she then sells.
Because I've been reviewing her content for the last couple of weeks.
And all of the actual advice is really rather benign.
It's all the stuff we already know.
Get good sleep, try to eat whole foods, exercise on a regular basis.
You can't really monetize that sort of information.
So as we've covered for years, what wellness influencers do is first they create these
demons that exist in the world that are holding us back and then they sell you the solutions.
Of course, my heuristic, watch what they say and watch what they sell.
So that's the framework for this bonus episode that I've titled waking up with the biohackers
because this 31 minute video very much reminds me of this Tik Tok trend called wake up with
me or get ready with me.
I will admit my age right now.
I'm 49.
Yet I also really just don't understand the appeal of watching somebody get ready through their morning routine.
Again, I'll own that.
I don't know if it's actually an age thing or just a proclivity of using the internet.
People have different things that they like to watch and content that they like to consume.
That's fine and that honestly isn't my concern here, although I am going to go through a few parts on her video.
What concerns me are the claims being made.
So let's dive in.
