"Human Biologist" and life coach Gary Brecka's star rose after biohacking UFC President Dana White's health. Yet Derek has a few questions this week: Is someone with a degree from a chiropractic college qualified to talk about seed oils, GMOs, depression, tinnitus, fluoride, detoxifying through water fasts, and diet plans? Is it concerning that his 10X Health System cofounder is a fervent Scientologist? And what happens when you actually read the science Brecka is linking to?

Hey guys, I'm Gary Breka and this week, let's talk about seed oils.
Oh no, Gary, let's not.
One of the most requested figures to cover that I've received this year is Gary Breka.
I hadn't heard of him before this year, but with 1.9 million Instagram followers and 187,000 people following his Ultimate Human podcast on YouTube, a lot of people have.
And the more I've searched through his content over the past few weeks, the more I realize that he falls squarely between the Andrew Huberman-Dave Asprey optimization space and the magical thinking pseudoscience of Joe Dispenza.
So today, I want to briefly look at who Gary is, where he came from, and then dissect a recent podcast episode he produced on GMOs.
Because, as often happens in these spaces, someone who claims to be all about the science is anything but.
You're listening to a Conspiratuality Bonus Episode and I'm Derek Barris.
Now, let's actually open with a clip he recently published on his Instagram feed that comes from a 10X Health conference, which is a company that he co-founded, and I'll get to all that in a moment.
You know, I've always believed that we need more of what God gave us than what man makes us.
I've always believed that human beings are not as sick or pathological or diseased as we think that we are.
We are raw material deficient.
You know, our food supply is depleted, our soil is poisoned, our air is polluted, and our water is full of chemicals.
And the body can't defend itself.
The body has, you know, it needs nutrients.
It needs raw materials.
It needs what God put into the earth, and the ocean, and the skies to defend itself.
Not chemicals, or synthetics, or pharmaceuticals.
It needs raw materials.
Amen.
You're my kind of audience.
I love you guys.
You're always my kind of audience.
God bless you.
And, you know, I've had a lifelong pursuit as a human biologist, you know, up against some of the largest forces in the world pushing back on me because I deeply believe in humanity and our ability and the body's ability to heal itself.
OK, there's a lot going on here from the slipping in of the anti-vax, the pharmaceutical aspect to the sort of Elon Musk there.
They said I couldn't do it.
They're coming after me, but I'm fighting for you guys.
I mean, we've seen all of these patterns before, especially this one.
You know, everything around us is toxic, which is not what God intended.
Never mind that we're inside a climate-controlled building speaking through amplification, which is all being recorded, and which he'll share later through wireless networks on computers that are in his pocket.
And yeah, I'm being a bit facetious, but I'm also not.
Because this pattern is common among wellness and fitness influencers.
Blame technology for certain things, yet turn a blind eye to all the advancements technology has afforded us.
And all of this makes the God argument even more disingenuous.
Humans bad for this tech, but God granted us this other tech for the good of humankind.
And look, I agree that we have serious problems.
On the day that I'm writing this episode, the American Lung Association found that roughly 40% of Americans live in places where air pollution is a health risk.
Of the top 9 worst cities to live in, 7 are in California and Oregon, which is for numerous reasons, including industry and wildfires, with those fires coming with a very complex history dating back two centuries.
But here's the thing.
Air pollution gets better with regulations, just as it did when the Clean Air Act was signed into law in 1970.
But is Brekka calling for Americans to mobilize and affect political change through on-the-ground work and voting?
Of course not.
This is what accompanies the video on the post.
This is a text he wrote to give you an insight into what he's really pushing.
