Four members of the Florida-based Grenon family were recently sentenced to between 5 and 12 years of prison for selling bleach. The problem? They claimed that bleach, known as Miracle Mineral Solution, cured Covid-19—as well as cancer, autism, AIDS, erectile dysfunction, and over 90% of the world's ailments. The elder Grenon, Mark, had founded the Genesis II Church of Health & Healing alongside of MMS's founder, Jim Humble, who left the church in 2017.
How did the Grenons profit from industrial-strength bleach for 13 years before finally being convicted? And why are so many people sprinkling bleach crystals in their morning glass of water to "detoxify?" Derek investigates.

Two weeks ago, four members of the Grenin family were sentenced to prison for selling bleach.
The problem isn't that they packaged and sold chlorine dioxide, which is basically industrial-strength bleach.
The issue is that they said it cured COVID, among a whole host of other diseases.
Now to understand how we got to this place, we need to talk about Jim Humble.
Getting an exact read on this character is pretty difficult, mostly because his website is pretty ambiguous and the videos that I've been able to find of the man speaking seem rather ancient and often sound like they were run through a washing machine.
Now he's still alive, he's not that old, but there's not a lot going on with him these days, at least from what I can tell.
So basically, Humble is a former Scientologist who claims he can talk to aliens, and he also believes himself to possess a healing touch akin to Jesus.
Now, this origin story on his website offers a few clues, however, and it represents much of the thinking behind the naturalistic fallacy, which is the idea that anything natural is good.
And we've talked about that often because it often leads to conspiritual thinking.
Here it is.
I want to tell you about a breakthrough that can save your life, or the life of a loved one.
In 1996, while on a gold mining expedition in South America, I discovered that chlorine dioxide quickly eradicates malaria.
Since that time, it has proven to restore partial or full health to hundreds of thousands
of people suffering from a wide range of disease, including cancer, diabetes, hepatitis A, B,
parentheses, high PSA, erectile dysfunction, and the list goes on.
Yes, I had to read that all for you.
He goes on though, this is by far not a comprehensive list.
I know it sounds too good to be true, really Jim, but according to feedback I have received over the last 20 years, I think it's safe to say MMS has the potential to overcome most diseases known to mankind.
Okay, MMS, Miracle Mineral Supplement, but it's really known as Miracle Mineral Solution.
Now that was written in 2017, so you'll notice that among the by far long list, that COVID is not mentioned.
Now this brings us back to the Grennan family, which is led by the patriarch, Mark.
And he really prospered, the entire family did, after this incredible moment in American history.
Right, and then I see the disinfectant, where it knocks it out in a minute.
One minute.
And is there a way we can do something like that?
Yeah, that really did happen, in case you forgot.
almost a cleaning because you see it gets on the lungs and it does a tremendous number of the lungs
so it'd be interesting to check that so that you're gonna have to use medical doctors with
but it sounds it sounds interesting to me. Yeah that really did happen in case you forgot and
once the idea that injecting disinfectant poisoned the American mind it wasn't long before people
began drinking bleach. Well I should say that more people began drinking bleach because plenty had
had been knocking back MMS for a while.
Now, Humble says it's hundreds of thousands, but elsewhere on the website I found million, or over a million, and I also found tens of thousands, so I'm not looking for consistency here, and neither should you.
Now Humble is no longer involved in sales of MMS, but his site qualifies his long origin story that I just read by assuring the reader chlorine dioxide doesn't cure disease, that would be illegal to state, but it kills pathogens and destroys poisons.
According to Humble, MMS lines things up so the body can heal thyself, which is just another convenient conspiritualist leap of logic that's often used to justify selling untested products like most any supplement that we've covered on the podcast for the last few years.
Now on the FAQ page of Humble's site, there's one question that asks, does MMS cure?
Now here's the reply.
Many people say MMS cures this or that.
But in fact, MMS does not cure disease.
MMS kills pathogens and destroys, parentheses oxidizes, poisons.
When pathogens and poisons in the body are reduced or eliminated, then the body can function properly and thereby heal.
The body heals the body.
MMS helps to line things up so the body can just do that.
Yes, we've heard about this often.
This is actually the exact logic that so many of the wellness influencers use, right?
Because they're always saying, you don't need a vaccine, you don't need pharmaceuticals, because your body has an innate wisdom in which it can cure itself, oh, by the way, by this product or this service, because that will actually help the body do what the body is originally supposed to be able to do.
Try to make sense out of that.
I've been trying for years, but that is exactly how the sales pitch goes.
Now on HumbleSite, it gets even better.
So when asked about side effects, he writes, anytime large amounts of pathogens are being killed off in the body quicker than the body is able to eliminate the toxins that the dead pathogens produce, it may cause nausea, vomiting, headaches, diarrhea, or other distress.
Such as excessive tiredness.
This is called Herxheimer reaction and is common when going through a detoxification program and the healing process.
That's a stretch.
Okay, he goes on.
Please note that although the experience may not make you feel particularly good for a time, experiencing a Herxheimer reaction is usually a sign that healing is taking place.
It's amazing.
This is exactly what happens with vaccines, right?
You give your body a little bit of something in order to fend it off down the road, and you sometimes feel shitty after a flu vaccine or a COVID vaccine for a day.
Now he's applying the exact same logic to it, only to drinking industrial stank bleach.
Let me finish this part.
Other than that, there are no side effects except to get well.
He's quite a writer.
Having said this, the idea is not to get sicker than you already feel.
If one will follow the three golden rules of MMS, as outlined in the MMS Health Recovery Guidebook, A Herxheimer reaction can be greatly minimized and or avoided altogether.
Two words all together, not exactly how he'd spell it there.
On another note, the above-mentioned discomforts pale in comparison to some side effects of chemotherapy and other pharmaceuticals.
There's so much in that paragraph.
So, of course, he has that reflex to say, bad pharma, and it's always used as a deflection, in his case, to the fact that drinking bleach does in fact have side effects.
One of them is death.
Another is crippling people for life.
These were all invoked in the Grenin court case because that really happened.
In fact, you never really know what's going to happen inside of your body when you drink bleach, the dose makes the poison, and in any amount, drinking bleach won't heal a thing, although it may very well destroy your insides.
Last part, let me just point out where he says, many people say, Makes a lot of sense, given who else talks about drinking bleach.
I'm sorry, injecting disinfectants.
Now, let's move on to the precautions FAQ.
How about those, Jim?
Chlorine dioxide has been used safely for a hundred years in hospitals, food preparation, water purification, and for many other things.
It has been used in recent times very safely by millions of people to improve their health with great results.
There are, however, a few instances where caution needs to be applied, you think?
We want you to have the most pleasant experience possible while regaining your health.
Do not be put off by these precautions, but be aware of them before you begin your journey to optimum health.
You can find all the precautions in the MMS Health Recovery Guidebook.
