[00:00:03]  I take that back. My husband sent me a story this morning and I couldn't believe it.
[00:00:06]  Actually, the heroes are this grandma and grandpa, two retired Australians who spent almost 500 days at sea after booking 51 straight cruises.
[00:00:18]  Why? Because they realized that permanently living on a cruise ship Is actually less costly than a retirement home.
[00:00:26]  Yeah, it is cheaper to live on a cruise ship.

[00:00:35]  Well, it's more to do with the two years without cruising, I suppose, than catching up on the cruise we've missed.
[00:00:43]  The couple has been cruising for decades, but jumped at the chance to hit the water again post-COVID. And eventually I said to my agent, look, I said, whatever, can't just book it.
[00:00:54]  And that's how it got to be such a long cruise.
[00:00:57]  51 back-to-back cruisers, it's easy to say the great-grandparents simply love cruising,
[00:01:05]  with all their meals taken care of and room cleaned daily.
[00:01:09]  A cheaper alternative, they say, than being in a retirement home.
[00:01:14]  Among the perks of their lifestyle, well, they say there's always something to do,
[00:01:19]  from dancing to dinner. It comes with a maid to clean your room. They start each day playing
[00:01:24]  ping pong and enjoying cracking open a couple of beers to sit on their balcony and take in the
[00:01:28]  views. They also have been an on-board family with the crew, who love to see the pair every
[00:01:33]  single time that they board for another cruise. Even those just popping on for a single cruise
[00:01:38]  have heard about the well-traveled pair and want to say hi.
[00:01:41]  The ship's hotel manager says that they have basically become celebrities on board.
[00:01:45]  They are the grandma and grandpa of the cruise line, essentially.
[00:01:49]  And they're doing all of this because, well, they realize that it is cheaper than living in a home and also likely more fun because they get to meet new people every time new people embark onto the cruise.
[00:02:00]  So yeah, they are heroes.
[00:02:02]  They are legends. I love to see people beat the system.
[00:02:04]  I'm going to do this. I'm not going to go to a retirement home.
[00:02:06]  I'm just going to be permanently on a cruise just like these two legends.
