The Media Is OBSESSED With Kanye
| Copy link to current segment

Time Text
Kanye West, or at least the artist formerly known as Kanye West, he goes by Ye now, has been on quite the journey with the media, I would say, especially since the end of last year.
It feels that not much time has passed since he and I premiered our White Lives Matter shirt.
At his fashion show in Paris.
But so much has transpired in terms of his reputation.
Obviously immediately followed by the anti-Semitism scandal.
Calls for him to be cancelled.
Letters written from Ari Emanuel, the most powerful person in Hollywood.
Actually lost a lot.
I wouldn't say a lot, but a bunch of people said, I will no longer listen to you, Candice, because you won't come right out.
And condemn him.
I chose not to add on to the pile.
I didn't see how that would be helpful.
He was canceled by literally everyone, including his own wife, who made a statement against him.
You had Adidas. You had Gap.
They both dropped him. No agent in Hollywood would touch him.
He was essentially the most hated person in the world last November.
That's not a stretch. He was the most hated person in the world.
You were told that if you wanted your brand to survive, you had to say something against
him.
And his wife did it.
His wife acquiesced to that, which I thought was a tremendous act of cowardice.
I wouldn't have done the same to my husband.
I wouldn't have said anything in support, but I probably would have hoped that the world
would understand that because of the closeness of the relationship, some things are better
dealt not in the press.
Anyways, I don't need to make this about Kim Kardashian.
So Kanye listened.
He got the message.
Everyone said, shut up and go away.
And Kanye shut up.
Stopped speaking to the press.
Stopped doing media hits.
Stopped speaking on podcasts.
And he went away with a girlfriend, Bianca Sensori.
I have no idea who she is.
I'm learning about her in the press.
Only because they are covering their actions minute to minute.
And these aren't extraordinary actions.
These aren't things that are necessarily controversial.
They're going out to dinner.
They've been in Italy for a very long time.
Essentially, it seems as though they've been on vacation in Europe for many months.
So it's odd that suddenly the press is trying to problematize them being on vacation.
You ask the man to go away, he went away.
You ask the man to shut up, he shut up.
You ask the man to just leave Kim alone, that was also part of it.
Just leave Kim and the kids alone.
It seems that he's leaving Kim Kardashian alone.
He's moved on another relationship.
So what's up with these headlines?
Here's one headline that ran in the Daily Mail.
Is Kanye West controlling?
Poor girl.
She looks miserable.
Another headline, calls for Kanye West's wife, Bianca Sensori, to be punished by Italian police for public indecency as she steps out in outrageous transparent catsuit and is forced to cover her nipples with a bag.
Now, I want to be clear. I find their outfit choices to be eccentric.
Definitely not something I would ever wear.
I talk on this show the entire time.
I speak, rather, on this show the entire time about how I think women should cover up always.
But I also understand that I am speaking against the mainstream narrative when I say that.
You watch any other show, you read any other headline, if you had scrolled even just on the Daily Mail or TMZ and heard them speaking about any other woman, they would be literally saying, Emily Rajkowski slays half-naked at the Fourth of July party.
Kim Kardashian wears barely nothing top on Instagram and she looks amazing.
So why the strange obsession with flipping the narrative with how women can dress when it comes to Kanye West's new wife?
Here are some photos so that you guys understand what we're talking about.
Here she is wearing, it looks to be, the jumpsuit.
They seem to be indoors at this time.
And she is holding on to him, not dressed unlike Kim Kardashian, because, well, Kanye West did, in fact, used to have a lot of the styling decisions in their relationship.
Here's another. She seems to be wearing nude leggings, going for a walk.
Again, this is not something that I would ever wear, but the media has never cared about this.
So why are they suddenly pretending to be outraged?
Why are they pretending that, of all people, the Italians are outraged by Kim Kardashian?
They're outfits. Do you know how many nude beaches there are in Europe?
Nudity doesn't really seem to upset the Europeans too much.
So what is really at root of all of this is my question.
What is really at root of all of this?
You asked him to go away.
You told him he was persona non grata.
Why do you care if he is in a foreign country with his girlfriend bothering no one and not speaking?
It's bothering me because there seems to be astounding hypocrisy.
Now I know people will say, well, Candice, you always defend Kanye.
I think... Last year, you pushed the man to his absolute brink.
Mentally, you pushed him to his absolute brink.
I'm not saying that he wasn't a willing participant.
I'm not saying that he didn't do things that obviously inspired outrage.
But you wanted him left with nothing.
You didn't want him breathing. You took his money.
You locked down his bank account.
You took his deals. You said he's no longer a billionaire.
He's no longer allowed to be in Hollywood.
He's no longer allowed to marry to Kim Kardashian, who is properly owned by Hollywood.
We get that. He took that.
Blow after blow.
So where are we now?
What is the problem?
And I'm going to tell you what it is. I'll tell you exactly what you're examining right now.
It was the reason why I did not add on to the chorus of voices who all felt the need to condemn him, to kick him when he was already drowning, to step on his head while he was already drowning.
It's because what you're witnessing right now is a form of Of a sadistic nature that the media has, right?
There is something that exists, and I recognize this in the public sphere the entire time, that when you see somebody falling and when you see somebody struggling, people want them to die.
They want them to suffer a death of sorts.
They do not want to think that a person can survive an onslaught of media attacks, because that removes power from the media, it removes power from the individuals, it removes power from the organizations.
That say that this person is gone, that I never want to see this person again.
So you are—we're talking about a political sadism, right?
I want to see this person suffer more.
Is he still breathing?
Is he still happy? Is he still laughing?
Well, that's not going to do.
And I think it's sick, and I think it's disturbing, and I think we are now getting to a point where I can say the media needs to leave Kanye the hell alone, just like you asked Kanye to leave the media the hell alone.
He's acquiesced, so why don't you?
Alright guys, did you like this video?
Well, you're going to like the full episode even better.
