The Charlie Kirk Show - The Great American Gaslight—White Supremacist Hispanics, Beloved Subway Schizos & Closed Border Invasions with Mark W. Smith Aired: 2023-05-08 Duration: 34:13 === The Invasion of Our State (08:35) === [00:00:00] Hey everybody, welcome to the Charlie Kirk Show. [00:00:02] This is Andrew Colvett, executive producer of the Charlie Kirk Show, filling in, also known as Producer Andrew, and Relief Factor fan. [00:00:10] But we had a packed show. [00:00:11] Lots going on in this country, especially coming off the weekend. [00:00:15] We go through it all. [00:00:16] We talk about what's happening in New York City with Jordan Neely. [00:00:19] We talk about the Texas mall shooter. [00:00:21] We talk about the end of Title 42 and the invasion happening on our southern border. [00:00:26] And then, guess what? [00:00:27] We bring in Mark Smith to talk about the gun debate and how this inevitably will always come back to the debate around guns and the left trying to strip us of our Second Amendment, our foundational rights as Americans, our God-given rights as Americans. [00:00:44] Every time there's a crisis, and they will use any excuse to do so. [00:00:47] We talk about all that and more. [00:00:49] Don't go anywhere, buckle up. [00:00:51] Here we go. [00:00:52] Charlie, what you've done is incredible here. [00:00:54] Maybe Charlie Kirk is on the college campuses. [00:00:56] I want you to know we are lucky to have Charlie Kirk. [00:00:59] Charlie Kirk's running the White House, folks. [00:01:02] I want to thank Charlie. [00:01:04] He's an incredible guy. [00:01:05] His spirit, his love of this country, he's done an amazing job building one of the most powerful youth organizations ever created. [00:01:12] Turning point USA. [00:01:13] We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country. [00:01:22] That's why we are here. [00:01:25] Brought to you by the Loan Experts I Trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific Mortgage at andrewandTodd.com. [00:01:35] Hey, everybody, welcome to the Charlie Kirk Show. [00:01:37] This is Andrew Colvett, otherwise known as producer Andrew and Relief Factor fan, filling in for the one and only Charlie Kirk. [00:01:44] He's going to be taking this week to get some rest and relaxation, gearing up for what will prove to be a tremendously grueling, exhausting year as we move into the summer, into the fall. [00:01:58] I've seen the calendar. [00:02:00] It's tremendous. [00:02:01] So I am all in support of Charlie getting some rest and relaxation. [00:02:04] He needs to decompress. [00:02:06] Also, I will tell you: if any there are any massive stories, let's say a Trump indictment or even maybe a Hunter indictment on Wednesday, which we're going to talk about in just a second, I have it on good authority that he will be back in. [00:02:20] But nevertheless, we have a busy and packed show, lots of guests coming at you, and a ton of information to go over. [00:02:27] We got reparations in California. [00:02:29] We've got this New York City subway story with Jordan Neely, the gaslighting, I call it the gaslighting of the American people underway. [00:02:37] We've got the Texas mall shooting in Allen, Texas, and we've got this ABC WAPO polling that is just absolutely dismal. [00:02:46] It is a historic, and when I say that, I'm not using hyperbole here. [00:02:51] It is a historic dumpster fire of a poll out for Joe Biden. [00:02:57] And then, of course, we have Title 42 coming to an end on Thursday. [00:03:01] We have 700,000 illegals. [00:03:05] We call them illegals on this show, folks. [00:03:07] Everybody wants to call them economic migrants. [00:03:09] They want to use all these euphemisms. [00:03:11] Listen, I'm sure some of them are great people, but as we've seen in Texas, let's just call a spade a spade. [00:03:18] They're not sending their best, folks. [00:03:20] And yes, we do have compassion for people that are fleeing, certainly, but let's be very clear about what's going on here. [00:03:27] This is incentivizing a mass migration of what even Secretary Mayorkis, head of the DHS, has called the largest migration in the Western Hemisphere since World War II. [00:03:39] I mean, it's absolutely out of control. [00:03:42] We're already, and I'll play this tape in just a second. [00:03:44] We're already being told everything's at capacity. [00:03:47] I mean, we've been being invaded. [00:03:49] We call it a soft invasion, a cold invasion since Joe Biden took office. [00:03:54] That much is clear. [00:03:55] And what we're about to see unfold at the southern border is a humanitarian catastrophe of epic proportions. [00:04:03] And it's not funny. [00:04:05] It's not, there's nothing, there's no upside. [00:04:08] It simply is the fact. [00:04:10] And it's a self-inflicted wound. [00:04:11] You can see that right now if you're watching some of the B-roll from the border. [00:04:16] Joe Biden is sending 1,500 troops to the border to basically push paperwork. [00:04:22] They're not allowed to interact with migrants. [00:04:24] They're not allowed to do any of the actual work that you might associate with border patrol activities. [00:04:31] They are just there, I guess, as a PR ploy. [00:04:35] And they're being brought in from South Carolina all the way to El Paso. [00:04:39] 1,500 is not enough to do anything. [00:04:41] If you might remember, Texas had about 10,000 earlier. [00:04:45] And again, 1,500 is basically a PR move. [00:04:49] Nothing's going to happen with that. [00:04:51] And they're not even on the border. [00:04:52] They're stationed miles away from the border. [00:04:54] So let's play some tape here. [00:04:56] I want to start with the Texas invasion because it's, I think the theme today is the gaslighting of the American people. [00:05:05] You've got a white supremacist Hispanic shooter. [00:05:08] You've got a beloved subway performer in Jordan Ely who had 42 prior arrests, including hitting a 64-year-old grandma and attempted kidnapping of a seven-year-old. [00:05:18] And then you've got our border is closed, myorcas, even though it is wide open and we all know it is wide open. [00:05:25] Now, let's play some sound here. [00:05:28] Let's go to cut one. [00:05:29] This is, we're broadcasting live out of Phoenix, Arizona. [00:05:32] This is a little close to home. [00:05:33] This is Kirsten Cinema on how the DHS has not communicated properly with the state of Arizona. [00:05:40] Now, Arizona, New Mexico, California, Texas, they are going to receive the brunt of this invasion. [00:05:46] So her words are very important here. [00:05:47] Play cut one. [00:05:49] Just today, I was on the phone with the sheriff of Cochise County. [00:05:55] He has gotten no information from the Department of Homeland Security or the federal government about what the flow is going to look like, about what they can expect for processing in terms of how long it takes to process migrants. [00:06:06] He's gotten no information, neither have I, about how many buses there will be available to transport migrants. [00:06:12] Either the administration has that information and they're choosing not to share it, which is a problem since we're the ones who are going to deal with the crisis, or they don't have it. [00:06:21] And that's even more concerning because how do you prepare for an inflow of migrants when you don't know what you're going to expect? [00:06:29] Now, that is Democrat turned independent senator from the state of Arizona, Kirsten Cinema. [00:06:35] She goes on to say in cut nine that the Biden administration has had two years to prepare for this and they did not do so. [00:06:43] Play cut nine. [00:06:44] The Biden administration had two years to prepare for this and did not do so. [00:06:49] And our state is going to bear the brunt. [00:06:51] And migrants will be in crisis as soon as next week. [00:06:55] It will be a humanitarian crisis because we are not prepared. [00:06:58] We are not prepared, but that's not what DHS Secretary Hack Alejandro Mayorkis said on CBS. [00:07:05] He's saying that, guess what? [00:07:07] You know, we are prepared. [00:07:10] We've got all these legal pathways for these people. [00:07:12] They can use apps. [00:07:13] They're just going to get on an app. [00:07:15] Play cut eight. [00:07:17] But we also have additional lawful pathways that already have existed for people to access. [00:07:23] The phone apps. [00:07:25] Yes, the parole program for Cubans, Haitians, Nicaraguans, and Venezuelans. [00:07:30] We are expanding our family reunification programs. [00:07:34] Yeah, see, that's their messaging. [00:07:36] Everything has to be humane. [00:07:37] So remember, let's play the tape back here. [00:07:41] Now, I'm not actually going to play tape, but let's put the timeline together here. [00:07:46] We had the most secure border in our history, at least modern history, under President Trump. [00:07:51] Joe Biden comes in, dismantles everything. [00:07:53] Remain in Mexico, now Title 42. [00:07:57] This is, we had 1.7, I believe, in 2021 migrants crossed the border. [00:08:02] We had 2.3, almost 2.4 in 2022. [00:08:06] And now already, we're in the beginning of May, and we already have about 1.3 million that have crossed just so far. [00:08:14] And we have 700,000 that are about to mob the border on Thursday. [00:08:18] When this Title 42, the COVID era rule from the Trump administration that was, that the Biden administration has been trying to revoke since they got into office, but the courts have blocked. [00:08:30] Well, that's no longer the case. [00:08:32] It is now going to be revoked on Thursday. === Why Migrants Are Crossing (03:29) === [00:08:35] We have 700,000 all at once. [00:08:38] The footage is just horrible. [00:08:40] Bill Melusian from Fox News was providing us with some aerial coverage of this. [00:08:47] I believe it's cut 200. [00:08:51] Let me just put this in perspective. [00:08:54] Cut 25 is another image. [00:08:56] Now, 700,000 people, 700,000 people is a tremendous amount of people. [00:09:04] It's bigger than the city I live in. [00:09:07] It is probably about the size of San Francisco, actual San Francisco proper, not surrounding areas, but actually the city. [00:09:14] I mean, just look at those. [00:09:15] Those are seven stadiums that all hold 100,000 people. [00:09:20] And that's just to start kind of helping you to wrap your mind around just what a sea of humanity is about to pour over the southern border. [00:09:31] And what we're being told is, again, by folks like Secretary Mayorkis, that this, everything's secure. [00:09:40] The border is perfectly secure. [00:09:42] They have apps that you can get family reunification. [00:09:44] Folks, I want to remind you: 85,000 unaccompanied minors have been lost in the system. [00:09:52] 85,000 unaccompanied miners have been lost in the system. [00:09:58] We can't find them. [00:09:59] They just went into the interior. [00:10:01] They said they had an aunt or an uncle living in Washington or Minnesota or Iowa, and they just poof, vanished out of the system. [00:10:14] Hey, everybody, summer is here. [00:12:01] Play cut 29, Secretary Mayorkis. === Root Causes of Migration (05:30) === [00:12:04] The border is not open. [00:12:06] It has not been open, and it will not be open subsequent to May 11th. [00:12:13] Ah, it won't be open, except for those 700,000 illegals that want to rush the border. [00:12:20] Now, this is, again, I said this before. [00:12:23] The theme of today's show is the utter, absolute, ridiculous gaslighting of the American people by the left. [00:12:30] I hate to say it. [00:12:31] Our border is wide open. [00:12:33] Everybody knows it. [00:12:35] That's why they're coming in record numbers. [00:12:37] The Biden administration, by virtue of their lax border policies, has created a powder keg, an incentive strategy, basically luring these people in here. [00:12:49] There is clip after clip of migrants, illegals, that are saying, listen, we know Joe Biden is going to let us in. [00:12:57] That's why we're coming. [00:12:58] They're wearing Biden for president shirts. [00:13:01] This is destructive. [00:13:03] It's intentional. [00:13:05] And it's absolutely horrendous. [00:13:07] And it's a disrespect to our entire nation, folks. [00:13:09] This is probably, and Charlie will tell you, this is probably one of my top three issues all the time, the border. [00:13:16] I've watched as the country has been transformed over my lifetime because of our lax immigration policies, our failure to enforce basic, common sense border security. [00:13:29] Trump, we got close. [00:13:31] He needed four more years to get the job done. [00:13:34] The wall was getting constructed. [00:13:35] Remain in Mexico was tremendously effective. [00:13:39] There was a deal with the Northern Triangle countries that were basically he, here's what Trump did. [00:13:45] And this is, of course, not what Biden's doing or borders are, Kamala Harris, is hanging our trade, the weight and the strength of our trading partnership with these countries over their head and saying, you will not get another dime. [00:14:02] You will not get another dollar. [00:14:04] You will be tariffed and taxed into oblivion if you do not stop these people from coming. [00:14:09] And guess what? [00:14:10] They stopped. [00:14:11] And then as soon as you say, oh, we have to do the humane thing, this is what happens. [00:14:15] So let's talk about gaslighting, okay? [00:14:20] Let's just play cut four. [00:14:21] This is California rep Pete Aguilar trying to gaslight you, the American public. [00:14:27] We need an orderly process. [00:14:29] I agree with you, Joe. [00:14:30] That's absolutely something that we need to do. [00:14:33] What House Democrats want to also make sure that we focus on are these root causes of migration. [00:14:38] You know, people are fleeing in difficult and dangerous conditions. [00:14:41] They're fleeing economic issues. [00:14:43] They're fleeing because of climate change. [00:14:46] Oh, gosh. [00:14:47] They're fleeing because of climate change. [00:14:49] I dare you, Mr. Aguilar, to go down to the border and ask how many of those 700,000 illegals that are about to rush over the border are coming because of climate change. [00:14:58] Absolute joke. [00:15:00] Okay, this is like the liberal, progressive, Marxist version of like neocon sickness. [00:15:10] It's a brain sickness. [00:15:12] The neocons thought they could go into Iraq or Afghanistan and transform those countries, and it only took 20 years to figure out that you couldn't. [00:15:18] Meanwhile, we've got an absolute urgent right now crisis on the border, and these guys are still talking about dealing with root causes. [00:15:27] You cannot play God with countries that don't want to be run or governed or orderly. [00:15:33] It does not matter what the United States of America does. [00:15:36] All it takes is looking at El Salvador. [00:15:39] El Salvador was not being run very well. [00:15:42] Let's just say that. [00:15:44] And then you get a new president in who institutes law and order, deals with the negative headlines the world over, calling him a tyrant and saying that he's stripping all these criminals of their civil rights. [00:15:54] Well, guess what? [00:15:55] Murders are down almost 90% in El Salvador. [00:15:57] That's a country that you can work with. [00:15:59] The Northern Triangle countries are being managed poorly, poor economics, poor rule of law. [00:16:07] The cultures are not ready for us to deal with the root causes in many instances. [00:16:11] And yes, I feel terrible for some of these people that are living in absolute destitute situations. [00:16:16] I completely understand that. [00:16:18] I'm all ears. [00:16:19] But to think that we are going to just turn a blind eye to the border and say, hey, we're going to deal with these root causes. [00:16:24] And guess what? [00:16:25] Kamala Harris is going to be the one to deal with it is an absolute joke. [00:16:28] And it's an insult to your intelligence, you and the audience. [00:16:31] But of course it is. [00:16:32] I think I got enough time for this. [00:16:33] This is Joe Scarborough calling him out. [00:16:35] Play cut five. [00:16:37] But we've been saying this for three, four, five, ten, fifteen years. [00:16:42] There is a massive crisis at the southern border right now. [00:16:45] I'm not telling you anything you don't know, but it's only getting worse. [00:16:51] And it's going to continue to get worse over the next two, three, four, five years unless we do something now. [00:16:58] So. [00:16:59] Guess what, folks? [00:17:00] Joe Scarborough, being honest for once, got to call it out every so often. [00:17:07] Look, it is time to consider a rollover of that 401k into an IRA. [00:17:13] The investment world is completely different in 2023, and you cannot do the same thing as last year. [00:17:18] Woke companies are aggressively implementing ESG. [00:17:22] Interest rates are going up and inflation is still lingering. [00:17:25] If you have over $150,000, now is the time to move your money to a biblical responsible investing strategy with my friends at PAX Financial Group. [00:17:33] Here's how you can connect with PAX. === Protecting American Guns (15:24) === [00:17:34] Text Charlie to the number 74868. [00:17:37] That's it. [00:17:38] Just take out your phone. [00:17:39] Text Charlie, C-H-A-R-L-I-E to 74868. [00:17:47] So take out your phone. [00:17:48] Text Charlie to the number 74868 for biblical responsible investing. [00:17:53] Text Charlie to 74868. [00:17:58] I want to play this cut. [00:18:01] Okay, let me set the stage here. [00:18:04] Terrible tragedy happened in Texas, in Allen, Texas over the weekend. [00:18:10] Absolutely horrific. [00:18:11] Eight people dead, seven wounded, three critically. [00:18:14] The gunman is also dead. [00:18:16] He was killed by a brave police officer that was actually at the mall for a completely separate reason. [00:18:22] He was on a separate call and he was there to respond. [00:18:25] Thank God he delivered the fatal shot to this gunman. [00:18:30] Now, here's the big controversy. [00:18:32] And then there's actually two controversies. [00:18:34] So he had an AR-style weapon is what they're saying, an AR-15 style weapon. [00:18:39] It is their gun of choice. [00:18:40] Now, folks, the gaslighting of America is real. [00:18:44] It continues, whether they're talking about an open border that is actually closed or they're talking about gun deaths. [00:18:51] Now, you're going to see protests. [00:18:53] You're going to see the moms against, you know, this issue or that issue. [00:18:57] Now, I believe their feelings, their emotions are real. [00:19:01] I'm not trying to discount the horror that some families have lived through. [00:19:05] But if you stacked up all of the gun deaths in America from the inner city that have been perpetrated by black-on-black crime, gang-related crime with handguns or shotguns that are used at close range versus AR-style military rifle, military grade, whatever euphemism they like to use and throw in there. [00:19:26] And by the way, they don't understand the definitions of guns. [00:19:29] And they always get this wrong. [00:19:30] They just think assault rifle. [00:19:32] Nobody should have an assault rifle and they can't define it. [00:19:35] If you stacked up all the handgun deaths in America in our inner cities against shootings like the horrible thing that happened in Allen, Texas, that inner city shootings with handguns would dwarf by many, many magnitudes. [00:19:50] And we're going to actually put that data together because I want it. [00:19:53] And we've looked it up before. [00:19:54] I'm just not super current on it right now, but I know for a fact it would blow your mind. [00:20:00] Now, do they talk about that? [00:20:02] Do they talk about these handgun deaths? [00:20:07] You know, I don't think they do. [00:20:08] And actually, I'm told that we have Mark now on the line. [00:20:11] Let's go ahead and bring Mark Smith in. [00:20:13] He is the author of the new fantastic book, Disarmed. [00:20:17] And it's actually sort of related to Ukraine, but it's completely relevant to what we're talking about. [00:20:22] What the Ukraine War Teaches Americans about the right to bear arms with Mark Smith. [00:20:27] Mark, welcome to the Charlie Kirk Show. [00:20:29] Thank you for joining. [00:20:29] Hey, thanks for having me on today. [00:20:31] Well, you know, we had a little tech snafu, it sounds like there, and I was getting on a roll there. [00:20:36] So I apologize for getting in a little late here. [00:20:38] But, Mark, I'm so glad that you were available today because, you know, this gun issue with every one of these shootings that we see happen, especially in these public places, it just, the left goes crazy. [00:20:52] Now, we're all sad about the tragedy in Allen, Texas, but, you know, there is this issue about an armed citizenry that our founders understood very, very well, especially given the context of their historical moment. [00:21:07] Make the case to us why the founders were so wise in the way that they set up the Constitution and the Second Amendment, the Bill of Rights, and make the case to the American, the people watching and listening why we need to protect this sacred right. [00:21:23] Well, the founding fathers, when they constructed the Constitution and the Second Amendment's right to keep and bear arms, they read every single thing on the planet to give them guidance about how to best create a government that would not only govern effectively, but most importantly, would protect the freedoms and individual rights of the American citizens because they were very concerned that they didn't want another king or some sovereign that would take away rights in the name of public safety or, you know, to just take over because of control. [00:21:52] So the founding fathers codified the right to bear arms, which is a pre-existing right, right? [00:21:57] The Second Amendment, right to keep and bear arms, does not create anything. [00:22:01] It simply memorializes a preexisting right to self-defense, a preexisting right to keep and bear arms. [00:22:08] Now, we know that arms is the best way to protect humans, human lives, and human freedom away from evil. [00:22:17] Evil has been with us since Cain killed Abel. [00:22:20] It's not the guns, it's the humans. [00:22:22] Remember, the founding fathers, when they talked about the adoption of the Constitution, specifically said that if men were angels, there would be no need for government. [00:22:33] The point of government is to protect our fundamental human rights, including against those who are criminals and evildoers. [00:22:39] Now, there's a very important philosopher that the founding fathers look to extensively that doesn't get nearly enough credit. [00:22:46] And I've written extensively about this Italian Enlightenment philosopher by the name of Cesar Beccaria. [00:22:52] He literally wrote, he literally wrote in his book that the Founding Fathers read and Thomas Jefferson and John Adams wrote down that any kind of gun control or arms control does absolutely nothing to stop criminals and bad people from doing bad things to good people. [00:23:08] It only makes it easier to target good people in the law abiding. [00:23:13] That was Cesar Beccaria, a philosopher who literally wrote what I just said before the adoption of the Second Amendment. [00:23:20] It's not an NRA slogan from the 21st century. [00:23:22] It's actually a philosopher from the 18th. [00:23:25] And the Founding Fathers understood this when they wrote the Second Amendment. [00:23:27] And of course, we know from our lived experience today that the best way to thwart evildoers is with guns, which is why we protect our royal elites at the coronation with guns. [00:23:39] We protect our political elites like Joe Biden with guns. [00:23:42] We protect Times Square with police officers carrying AR-15 style firearms. [00:23:47] We protect our financial elites with guns and so on and so on. [00:23:50] The only people the left doesn't want protected with guns are the ordinary American citizen because they don't want us to be citizens. [00:23:56] They really want us to be serfs or subjects at the end of the day. [00:23:59] Yeah, that's really well said, Mark. [00:24:00] And I didn't do your intro justice here. [00:24:03] You know, you're also a constitutional attorney. [00:24:05] You're a member of the U.S. Supreme Court bar and a New York Times best-selling author, among all those things. [00:24:10] And, you know, your bona fides really shine through when you're talking about this issue. [00:24:15] I'm going to play a clip here from one of the largest, biggest blowhards on planet Earth, Roland Martin, who couldn't keep a job at CNN. [00:24:24] And we could discuss that at another time. [00:24:26] But he's just, he's just awful. [00:24:28] I mean, I hate to, you know, I'm not trying to be mean here. [00:24:30] He's just awful. [00:24:31] But listen, he's echoing here a sentiment, especially after each one of these shootings, especially the school shootings. [00:24:39] These mall shootings are horrible. [00:24:41] I totally. [00:24:43] But it is, this is a potential weakness. [00:24:47] This is a potential for conservatives heading into future elections. [00:24:51] This gun issue. [00:24:52] Let's just have you respond to it here. [00:24:54] Play cut two. [00:24:56] The only way to change any of this is to completely wipe out the Republican Party. [00:25:02] Somebody has to say it. [00:25:03] Greg Abbott, the governor, is sick and demented. [00:25:06] He has literally done nothing because they are so in love with guns and so in love with the Second Amendment crowd that they do not care to see bodies piled up on the sidewalk. [00:25:19] All right. [00:25:19] So, Mark, I'm going to play devil's advocate here, and I'm going to pose a question that you'll often hear. [00:25:25] Mark, why can't we just have some reasonable, very popular gun control measures passed? [00:25:32] Why aren't you willing to look at any of it? [00:25:33] Maybe can we just get rid of the AR-15s, these assault-style military-grade rifles? [00:25:39] Can't we just get rid of those? [00:25:40] Because that's what they were using at this Allen Mall, this maniac, this 33-year-old Hispanic white supremacist that the media would say. [00:25:48] Can't we just have some sensible gun control measures, maybe deal with the magazine capacity? [00:25:53] What's your answer to that, Mark? [00:25:56] Well, when people commit violent crimes or they misbehave, they should be put in prison, right? [00:26:01] But the one thing we do not do about constitutional rights is we do not punish the millions of Americans that lawfully own firearms because of the misconduct or the misuse of a handful of psychopaths. [00:26:13] At the end of the day, if Americans do not like the right to keep and bear arms, they have an option. [00:26:19] They can try to amend the Constitution using Article 5. [00:26:23] Remember, the Constitution has been amended 27 times in American history. [00:26:28] So you can amend the Constitution. [00:26:30] The reason why it's not doable is because Americans overwhelmingly support the right to keep and bear arms, especially now more than ever before, because all of these tragedies basically teach us one thing, that when seconds count, the police are minutes away. [00:26:46] The police are not able to protect us, whether it be in the 2020 riots of the summer, whether it be in the post-Katrina, you know, after a catastrophe like post-Katrina, where the civil authorities can't show up. [00:26:58] The reality is, no matter how earnest police officers are, the government is not going to be able to protect you, which means you are your own first responder. [00:27:06] And again, there's nothing that's gone on in American life that suggests that the wisdom of the founding fathers is not accurate, which is the most important thing is to have armed citizens to thwart all forms of tyranny, which I talk about in my book about Ukraine, which it's interesting that the anti-gun left in America wants to take guns away from us and give them the Ukrainian citizens. [00:27:26] But what's the point of the guns in Ukraine? [00:27:28] It's to thwart a form of tyranny no different than what we have here in America. [00:27:31] You're making a great point, and actually two great points. [00:27:34] One is, you know, we love the hunters. [00:27:37] We love the conservationists. [00:27:39] That's, you know, my family background is very much that. [00:27:42] But that's not why the founders created the Second Amendment. [00:27:45] The founders created the Second Amendment to fight tyranny, a tyrannical government. [00:27:50] And you said something earlier. [00:27:52] You said they use health crisis, public health crisis. [00:27:55] Now that was COVID to take away our rights. [00:27:58] And now it's going to be this mental health crisis, which is causing various people to just shoot up schools and malls. [00:28:08] They're going to use that to take away law-abiding citizens' rights. [00:28:11] And the final, the point in that is that Americans don't want this. [00:28:16] This is what the left doesn't understand. [00:28:17] We don't actually want this because guess what? [00:28:20] We keep electing people that block the revocation of our arms. [00:28:24] It's just simple. [00:28:25] It's democracy. [00:28:27] Now, Mark, I wanted to zero in on something. [00:28:29] You said, it was just so clear when you said it. [00:28:31] You said, guess what? [00:28:33] Americans don't want this. [00:28:34] You can throw all the tantrums you want, leftists, but Americans do not want to be disarmed. [00:28:40] We keep electing these people that have told us that they are going to defend this sacred right that our founders enshrined. [00:28:48] And you'll often hear this as well. [00:28:49] People don't like democracy or representative democracy, which is a republic, right? [00:28:55] That it's muddle-headed. [00:28:57] It takes a long time to move anything. [00:28:59] Well, that's a good thing that they can't just strip our rights away. [00:29:02] If COVID taught us anything, it's that when they move with quickness, a ton of disasters follow in its wake. [00:29:09] What's your thoughts on that, Mark, as we think about this democratic struggle that actually we're winning? [00:29:16] Conservatives don't take victory labs very often, especially this day and age, but we are winning this fight. [00:29:22] Why do you think that is? [00:29:23] Well, I think that the Americans understand that government is not able to protect them. [00:29:30] I think there's countless examples of this. [00:29:32] And every time there's another so-called mass killing, remember yesterday there was a mass killing with a truck down in Texas, too. [00:29:39] So it's not just guns. [00:29:40] People use all sorts of means to kill other people. [00:29:43] And the government is realistically not in a position to protect you most of the time. [00:29:48] We got to keep in mind, though, that this is the one cultural issue that the conservatives have been tremendously successful in and are on the march. [00:29:55] I think there's many reasons for that. [00:29:57] One, of course, is that you have a Second Amendment that's actually in the text of the Constitution that says we have the right to keep and bear arms. [00:30:03] Then you have a Supreme Court, thanks to President Trump's nominations of three justices. [00:30:08] And when people ask me, what has Donald Trump done for the Second Amendment? [00:30:11] I say Neil Gorses, Amy Coney Barrett, and Brett Kavanaugh, who made up the majority in the Bruin case that, of course, re-vindicated the right to keep and bear arms just last year. [00:30:21] So you have a Second Amendment that's being robustly defended by the courts now, including the Supreme Court. [00:30:25] And then as a practical matter, we now have today 27. [00:30:29] Let me repeat that number, Andrew. [00:30:31] 27 states allow people to carry handguns without a permit because their handgun permit is the fact that they're American citizens. [00:30:40] And that is 27 states. [00:30:41] That is the majority of the states. [00:30:43] And that number just, you know, we just added Nebraska and Florida. [00:30:46] So obviously, when it comes to the states, the gun issue is a winning one. [00:30:51] And you see where the anti-gun, and I talk about this quite frequently, the anti-gun movement is doubling down in the states that they control all the organs of government. [00:30:59] So they're doubling down and going crazy with gun control in New York, California, Oregon, Washington, these places where they control all facets of government. [00:31:08] That's where they're making headway. [00:31:10] And they're not really making headway on offense. [00:31:12] They're just doubling down in the home territories that they control. [00:31:14] But they're in retreat all across America because even in those states, a lot of those have already been enjoined or at risk of being enjoined and thwarted by courts that are enforcing the Second Amendment against that massive resistance we're seeing in certain blue states that don't like guns. [00:31:29] Well, you know, you bring up the Supreme Court, and last week, obviously, we saw this massive attack on Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas. [00:31:36] There's been other attacks on Neil Gorsuch. [00:31:39] Then, meanwhile, we find out that Soda Mayor is guilty of not recusing herself from Penguin Random House cases in which Penguin Random House was at risk of losing millions and millions of dollars in copyrights. [00:31:56] So, I mean, there's this whole battle here. [00:31:59] And we always say, don't listen to the noise, get above the noise. [00:32:03] What's really going on? [00:32:04] And I think you hit it right on the head. [00:32:06] I think it's abortion. [00:32:07] I think it's gun rights. [00:32:08] I think this attack on the Supreme Court of the United States is about gun rights and abortion, gun rights and abortion. [00:32:15] They want to pack it. [00:32:16] They want to delegitimize it. [00:32:19] And they want to control it because it's the last thing standing in the way of the left stripping so many of our rights away. [00:32:26] Mark, one minute, final thoughts. [00:32:29] Well, yes, remember, going all the way back to Greco-Roman times, there are three essential components to being a citizen and not a serf. [00:32:36] That is the right to have property, that is the right to vote, and it is the right to have firearms, or I should say, the right to have arms to be able to defend yourself. [00:32:45] If you don't have those three essential components of being a citizen, the right to arms, the right to property, and the right to vote, you're a serf. [00:32:52] The left in America, as far as I can tell, doesn't want us to be citizens, and they certainly want us to disarm. === Defend Your Citizenship (01:14) === [00:32:59] It's a lot easier to bully people when they're disarmed, as we see all across the country. [00:33:05] Or I should say all across the world, but I should say that the Ukraine thing, as I write about in my book, Disarmed, really does illustrate the importance of an armed citizenry. [00:33:12] Because 10 years ago, the Ukrainians had an opportunity to adopt the Second Amendment and give themselves the right to bear arms. [00:33:18] They chose not to do that. [00:33:19] And now, when they're invaded, of course, they're handing out weapons to the citizens to defend the country. [00:33:23] 10 years too late. [00:33:25] They were disarmed. [00:33:25] They shouldn't have been. [00:33:26] And they learned their lesson. [00:33:27] Well said, Mark. [00:33:28] Thanks for joining the show. [00:33:29] That's Mark W. Smith.
