[00:00:53] We will not embrace the ideas that have destroyed countries, destroyed lives, and we are going to fight for freedom on campuses across the country. [00:01:02] That's why we are here. [00:01:04] Brought to you by the Loan Experts I Trust, Andrew and Todd at Sierra Pacific Mortgage at andrewandTodd.com. [00:01:14] Really fun topic here. [00:01:15] And I've been saying this for quite some time. [00:01:17] I've been visiting Aspen for the last decade, and I've said for a while that Aspen is a perfect example of the oligarchic hellscape that the left wants to bring to America. [00:01:30] A book makes the argument better than I can. [00:01:32] It's Glenn K. Beaton. [00:01:35] He was the token conservative columnist at Aspen Times for seven years before being fired. [00:01:40] By email, on one Christmas Eve, to their dismay, he has become one of the most popular columnists in their 140-year history. [00:01:46] The newspaper, he now has millions of readers on his blog, theaspenbeat.com. [00:01:52] He has a really interesting new book called High Attitude: How Woke Liberals Ruined Aspen. === The Aspen Times Columnist Story (02:02) === [00:02:00] I'm so interested in this topic, and you should be too, even if you have no idea about Aspen or have been there. [00:02:08] It applies to the whole country. [00:02:10] Glenn, welcome to the program. [00:02:12] Hi, Charlie. [00:02:12] How are you? [00:02:13] I'm doing well. [00:02:14] So, Glenn, I've been visiting Aspen for quite some time. [00:02:17] For people that have not been to Aspen, it is as close to heaven on earth in the summer as you can get to. [00:02:23] And that's one of the reasons why it has been so attractive to not just the billionaires, but the billionaires of the billionaires, the plutocrats of the plutocrats. [00:02:32] Tell us about how Aspen used to be and what these people have done to it. [00:02:38] Well, Aspen has a long and very interesting history. [00:02:41] You know, it started as a silver mine town in the 1880s, 1870s, and it had its boom for a while. [00:02:48] At one point, it was supplying one-sixth of the country's silver supply and one-sixteenth of the world's silver supply. [00:02:55] It was huge. [00:02:57] They had electric lights, they had a trolley down Main Street. [00:03:00] It was really quite an advanced place for the time. [00:03:02] Of course, the silver bus came and they became virtually a ghost town. [00:03:07] And they went through the quiet years up to the 30s and the early 40s. [00:03:12] And then something quite amazing happened. [00:03:14] A prominent, wealthy industrialist out of Chicago called Walter Pepke and his wife Elizabeth got enamored by the place, moved there, and drew with them all these Chicago connections. [00:03:29] And they got acquainted with veterans of the Tenth Mountain Division, the World War II skiing, outdoorsy mountaineering division, who were familiar with Aspen because they had trained nearby. [00:03:43] So they saw Aspen, they saw the snow, they saw the beauty. [00:03:47] They had a vision for it. [00:03:49] And so this industrialist with his money and the Tenth Mountain people with their expertise and their attitude and their ambition started Aspen, re-founded Aspen as a ski resort. === Polarized Wealth and Housing (07:43) === [00:04:03] And it quickly became sort of an intellectual retreat. [00:04:06] These people were really very intellectual, friends with Morterer Adler, and they started the Aspen Institute in 1949. [00:04:15] It took off and it was wildly successful a while. [00:04:22] They had all kinds of terrific stuff going on there. [00:04:25] They started the Aspen Institute, the Aspen Music Festival, which is still in existence. [00:04:30] The Ideas Festival came a little bit later. [00:04:32] The place really became kind of like an Athens of the West or a Chautagua in the Rockies. [00:04:38] It was tremendously successful and a wonderful place. [00:04:42] It all kind of went to hell in the 60s when the Hollywood types and the drug types and the Hunter S. Thompson types moved to town and dragged it down. [00:04:53] But for a while, it was really a fantastic place. [00:04:56] It's still a fantastic place physically, aesthetically, but the people are all kind of screwed up now. [00:05:03] So talk about the wokeism, especially the last decade, and also talk about the flagrant income inequality where ownership of property in Aspen is not possible for the working class. [00:05:15] It's all renters or it's all heavily subsidized. [00:05:19] And but for the rulers, the oligarchs, they have $100 million mansions, no exaggeration. [00:05:24] No place is as income or wealth, great wealth disparity as Aspen. [00:05:30] And that's the incubator of a lot of this woke nonsense that we see permeating the rest of the country. [00:05:38] Yeah, you know, it's not unique to Aspen. [00:05:43] It's extreme in Aspen. [00:05:45] But what you see, I think, is taking over our culture altogether. [00:05:49] You see this polarization of two groups. [00:05:52] Both, interestingly, are really quite woke and liberal and leftist. [00:05:56] There's the billionaires who have driven out the millionaires in Aspen, as you're aware. [00:06:02] And then there's the other end of it. [00:06:04] There's the service class of people. [00:06:06] Well, the service class of people now is in subsidized housing. [00:06:09] 45% of the town is in taxpayer subsidized housing. [00:06:14] It's not just subsidized a little bit. [00:06:16] It's extremely subsidized. [00:06:17] These people have multi-million dollar places. [00:06:20] Sometimes they're slopeside and they pay a few hundred thousand dollars for them. [00:06:25] So there's this extreme subsidy. [00:06:28] They're on the housing dole. [00:06:29] They're on housing welfare. [00:06:31] And you know what happens when people get on welfare, if they're not already tilted to the left, they're going to get tilted to the left in order to justify their welfare existence. [00:06:40] So that class is all extreme left, and it's 45% of the voters, at least. [00:06:46] And then at the other extreme are the billionaire billionaires. [00:06:50] And they tend to be leftist too for different reasons, for more ideological reasons. [00:06:55] It's not so much for their selfishness, but for their sociological bent. [00:07:00] So there they are on the other extreme in terms of wealth, but at the same leftist attitude. [00:07:08] What's interesting to see is how these two outfits, these two groups war with one another. [00:07:15] The service people, the lower income people who are on subsidized housing. [00:07:20] Oh, I have to mention just a parenthetical. [00:07:23] You would think that subsidized housing is reserved for people who are making a few tens of thousands of dollars a year or whatever. [00:07:29] The income cutoff is $300,000. [00:07:32] Are you kidding me? [00:07:34] No. [00:07:34] You can get in taxpayer subsidized housing where you get slopeside, multi-million dollar places for dimes on the dollar and still make as much as $300,000 a year and have a net worth of $1 million a year. [00:07:48] So, you know, these aren't people who really need the money. [00:07:51] These are people who just have their finger in the middle. [00:07:53] But is that from Pitkin County or what is that? [00:07:56] I mean, who subsidizes? [00:07:57] Is that from the Aspen City Council or where does that money come from? [00:08:01] Well, where the money comes from is a wealth tax or a sales tax on housing sales. [00:08:08] They impose a 1% sales tax on the sale of every house in Pitkin County. [00:08:13] 1% on the sale of every house in Pitkin County adds up. [00:08:16] You know, $100 million place, the wealth tax on that transaction is a million bucks. [00:08:21] So they generate something like $20 million a year through their taxpayer subsidized housing sales tax. [00:08:30] So that's where it comes from. [00:08:31] And of course, they borrow money too, because no matter how many millions you have, if you're on the left, you want to get more if you can, and you can if you borrow it. [00:08:40] So you have these two groups at war with one another. [00:08:43] The service people who are not starving, they're certainly not poor. [00:08:49] They're better off than far better off than the average American in terms of wealth, are mad at the billionaires because they envy the billionaires and they want more of the billionaires' money. [00:09:02] So I saw just recently, Aspen decided to double its hotel tax. [00:09:09] If you say at Aspen, like the week of Christmas, you're looking at a couple thousand dollars a night. [00:09:13] It's expensive. [00:09:15] Well, they doubled the hotel tax to 21%. [00:09:19] So add that to your bill too. [00:09:23] There's this hatred of the visitors, but at the same time, they need and want the money from the visitors. [00:09:28] There's a column at my old paper who just wrote a column a couple months ago complaining about the visitors and wishing the visitors would stop coming. [00:09:38] Well, you know, the visitors are the source of all of Aspen's wealth right now. [00:09:43] So I think what he was suggesting is maybe they ought to just mail their money in. [00:09:47] Yeah, and these are the same people that want to open borders in our country, but don't come here. [00:09:52] You know, let's keep ask the Aspen pristine, but we want 5,000 people a day coming across the border. [00:09:58] The book is high attitude. [00:09:59] I have a lot more questions about this. [00:10:01] And I don't say this kiddingly. [00:10:04] If you go to Aspen, it is literally one of the most obnoxiously woke places on the planet. [00:10:11] It is worse than Portland and Seattle, where some Aspen wine mom driving a Maserati is going to lecture you about BLM or trans rights. [00:10:21] It's unbelievable. [00:10:22] I want to ask you about that. [00:10:22] Maybe it is the altitude. [00:10:24] I don't know. [00:10:25] There's something strange happening there. [00:10:29] Hey, everybody, this is Charlie Kirk. [00:10:30] And by now, you know that we save babies by providing ultrasounds with our friends at Pre-Born. [00:10:35] And with Mother's Day coming up in less than a month, can there be a better time than now to stand for life? [00:10:39] When you introduce a girl to her baby by providing an ultrasound, more than 85% of the time she will choose life. [00:10:44] You're also giving her access to a two-year mentorship program and the chance to receive free maternity clothes, baby clothes, diapers, parenting classes, but perhaps most importantly, someone to walk alongside her and be a friend during this most crucial time of her life. [00:10:57] $140 gives five mothers a free ultrasound and saves babies. [00:11:01] $280 can save 10 babies, and just $28 a month can save a baby a month for less than a dollar a day. [00:11:07] And $15,000 gift will provide an ultrasound machine that will save lives for years to come. [00:11:11] I'm a donor to pre-born. [00:11:13] It's preborn.org. [00:11:14] If you are pro-life listening right now, give something. [00:11:18] Give what you can. [00:11:19] Again, $140 gives five mothers a free ultrasound and saves babies. [00:11:23] Go to preborn.org. [00:11:25] Whether you want to save one baby or five or hundreds, this opportunity is just a phone call or click away. [00:11:30] Call 833-850-BABY. [00:11:32] That's 833-850-2229 or go to preborn.org. [00:11:36] That is preborn.org. [00:11:37] $15,000 gift will provide an ultrasound machine that will save lives for years to come. [00:11:41] Go to preborn.org. [00:11:45] Very important book. === Virtue Signaling in Skiing (03:47) === [00:11:46] High attitude, not high altitude, high attitude, how woke liberals ruined Aspen, Glenn K. Beaton. [00:11:53] So, Glenn, I think Aspen has more, let's just say, miserable liberals visit than any other city in America between the months of June and August. [00:12:02] It's amazing. [00:12:03] Aspen Institute Ideas Festival, Aspen Food and Wine. [00:12:06] I mean, it's so incredibly beautiful there. [00:12:08] And I think the beauty is actually the magnet of why a lot of these people come there. [00:12:13] But tell us, what do you think is the lesson for the rest of the country from Aspen? [00:12:17] What can we learn of what they've done to Aspen that they are either applying or will apply to the rest of the country? [00:12:24] Well, there's a couple of things that come to mind. [00:12:26] One is this obsession with race, I think, is very unfortunate for the country. [00:12:31] And you see that to some extent in Aspen. [00:12:33] It's not like there's racial strife in Aspen, but as far as I know, there's not a black person living in Aspen right now. [00:12:40] The only one I know of in the valley is a friend of mine from Down Valley. [00:12:44] But to give you an idea of the wokeness and the virtue signaling that goes on, the president of Aspen Skiing Company, Aspen Skiing Company is, you know, it's not a huge company, but they employ a thousand people. [00:12:57] They're a big deal in the valley anyway. [00:12:59] He wrote an op-ed piece for the Wall Street Journal a few years ago where he decried President Trump's clamping down on illegal immigration. [00:13:10] And the rationale he gave for why this was such a bad thing was that it was costing him visitors in the form of rich Mexican skiers. [00:13:20] And I thought, well, come on now, how many rich Mexican skiers are out there? [00:13:25] And certainly they're not being barred from coming across the border. [00:13:28] But his point was, oh, but they sympathize with these poor, illegal Mexican immigrants. [00:13:34] But I don't think to the extent there are any rich Mexican skiers that they sympathize with the poor illegal immigrants. [00:13:39] But anyway, that was his rationale. [00:13:42] I thought about it for a while, and it dawned on me that what's really going on here is the clampdown is interfering with the pool of low-priced labor that they rely on in the valley. [00:13:54] So in the guise of complaining about the loss of rich Mexican skiers, which interfered with his profits, and calling the president a racist or implying that the president is a racist as a result, what he was really doing was complaining about the interference with his source of cheap Mexican labor. [00:14:16] Another thing from the same guy, he wrote another piece. [00:14:21] Well, he wrote a memo to his employees and sent it to all thousand employees. [00:14:26] He was dismayed that they don't have enough black skiers in Aspen. [00:14:30] Of course, there's not very many black skiers anywhere. [00:14:34] You know, it's not racist to say, but it's not. [00:14:36] It's a fact. [00:14:37] That's exactly right. [00:14:38] Yeah, you know, it's a matter of demographics and statistical facts. [00:14:42] Blacks don't ski that much. [00:14:44] But he thought this was a terrible thing. [00:14:46] But he managed to get a week from the Black Skiing Association. [00:14:51] There is such a thing. [00:14:52] So it was Black Skier Week. [00:14:55] So he sends out a memo to all thousand employees telling them how to behave around black people. [00:15:01] I thought it was interesting that he thought so little of his employees that he had to tell them how to behave around black people. [00:15:08] But he did. [00:15:09] Some of the things from the memo were unbelievable. [00:15:11] He said, you don't want to do anything that might set them off and make them think they're being discriminated against. [00:15:18] For example, if the restaurant doesn't open until 5 o'clock and they show up at 4 o'clock, you can't tell them, sorry, the restaurant's closed and we don't open till 5 because they might think that you're being racially discriminatory. [00:15:33] Special privileges, right? === Ohio Politicians Go Wrong (15:49) === [00:15:34] Yeah, exactly. [00:15:36] If they want to park their car in a no-parking zone, he said, don't tell them no parking there. [00:15:41] Just let them park their car there. [00:15:44] So, I think if they want to go to Prada and just, you know, grab a couple purses, that's just fine. [00:15:49] Yeah, why not? [00:15:51] I'm thinking, where does this end? [00:15:52] Are they going to adjust lift prices in proportion to the darkness of the skin or inversely in proportion to the darkness of the skin? [00:16:01] Oh, no, they'll get there. [00:16:02] Yeah, they will. [00:16:04] So, then you're going to have to have guys putting on blackface in order to get the low lift price. [00:16:09] So, super, super curious, just really quick as we're ending here. [00:16:13] High attitude by Glenn K. Beaton: How many illegal immigrants has the Aspen City Council decided to take in to Aspen? [00:16:23] Do you have a number? [00:16:26] It is exactly zero, so far as I know. [00:16:30] But I will say, Tucker Carlson, who's been in the news lately, suggested on a program last fall, I think, that they ought to, they, being Governor Abbott in Texas and Governor DeSantis in Florida, ought to start shipping the illegal Mexican immigrants to Aspen and see how they like them there. [00:16:48] As soon as they start clogging up the ski lift in Aspen, you will have a revolt of the wine moms that you couldn't even imagine. [00:16:57] Very important book: High Attitude, Glenn K. Beaton, How a Beautiful Place Aspen has been ruined by the Wokies. [00:17:03] Close to my heart. [00:17:04] I could talk about this all hour. [00:17:06] Glenn, thank you so much. [00:17:07] Thank you, John. [00:17:11] Is it a housing boom or housing bust? [00:17:13] Is it a good time to buy or wait? [00:17:15] In times of uncertainty and challenge, you need seasoned mortgage experts with decades of experience that are problem solvers and solution providers. [00:17:22] That's why I want to tell you about my friends, Andrew Del Rey and Todd of Akien of Sierra Pacific Mortgage. [00:17:27] I think the world of these men, they're godly, patriotic, committed, fabulous. [00:17:31] I use them personally for all my mortgage needs. [00:17:33] In fact, they helped solve a very tough issue for me, something very complex, very rare, very unique. [00:17:38] I won't tell you all about it, but I'll just say they were really great to me. [00:17:42] And they're not bankers, they're bankers, not brokers, and they offer non-traditional loan solutions. [00:17:47] Most companies can't. [00:17:48] If you're self-employed, they can get you a qualified based on bank statements, not tax returns. [00:17:52] If you need a private investor loan, they offer non-traditional loans. [00:18:08] They're godly, patriotic, committed, amazing people. [00:18:12] AndrewandTodd.com. [00:18:13] That is AndrewandTodd.com. [00:18:16] Again, if you're using the Woke Bank, stop doing it right now. [00:18:19] Tell them Charlie Kirk sent you. [00:18:21] Andrew and Todd are great men. [00:18:22] They've helped me personally and they can help you with all things: reverse mortgage, buying a home, first-time buyer, or 10th-time buyer. [00:18:28] AndrewandTodd.com. [00:18:32] Do we have Bernie? [00:18:33] Charlie, how are you? [00:18:34] Bernie, how are you? [00:18:35] Welcome to the program, Bernie. [00:18:36] I've known you for years. [00:18:37] I think I met you in an elevator at the Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio. [00:18:43] No, it's the convention. [00:18:44] It was a debate in August of 2015. [00:18:46] Is my memory right? [00:18:47] That's what's eight years ago. [00:18:49] And it was. [00:18:50] And both of us have gotten younger, thank God. [00:18:52] Yeah, that's right. [00:18:53] Exactly. [00:18:54] Well, Bernie, I'm really excited about what you're planning to do in Ohio. [00:18:58] So tell us all about it. [00:18:59] So, as you know, Charlie, of somebody who moved here from South America as a kid, you know, basically lived the American dream, came to Cleveland 18 years ago, built a small little dealership, and turned into a really great company. [00:19:13] And I would never have imagined that would be in political office. [00:19:16] But here we are. [00:19:17] And the reality is it's pretty straightforward. [00:19:19] DC is fundamentally broken. [00:19:21] And the reason it's broken is because we have politicians from both parties that go down there for their own benefit, sell our country out, don't keep any of their promises. [00:19:29] And if we don't send outsiders, business people, people who've done something in their lives, will never fix DC. [00:19:35] So, Bernie, you've built a beautiful business. [00:19:37] It's very impressive, and you're a rock star conservative. [00:19:39] Tell us about the business you've built. [00:19:41] It's amazing. [00:19:42] It truly is. [00:19:44] I put every cent I had into buying this tiny little dealership. [00:19:47] It sold four cars a month. [00:19:49] Our first month in business, we sold 80 cars, turned into one of the largest dealers in the central United States. [00:19:55] I built 14 more dealerships for a total of 15. [00:19:59] We did almost a billion dollars in sales, had thousands of people employed, and sold that business four years ago to start a technology company using blockchain technology to make car titles digital. [00:20:10] That company has done very, very well. [00:20:12] I've just sold my shares in that company to focus on this, which is really my way of serving our country because, you know, again, if we don't step in, if we don't do something, we're going to lose our country. [00:20:23] And I'm not prepared to allow that to happen without at least giving it all I've got. [00:20:27] So Ohio has changed a lot politically, actually, favorably. [00:20:31] A lot of other states have gone the wrong direction. [00:20:32] Ohio's going the right direction. [00:20:34] You're basically running for the right or the ability to run up against Sherrod Brown, who I think is a fraud. [00:20:40] Tell us about him. [00:20:42] I mean, this is a guy who's been in elected office his entire life, literally has done nothing else other than collect a taxpayer-funded salary. [00:20:51] No matter whether he succeeded or failed, and obviously he's failed. [00:20:54] Ohio's lost tons of manufacturing jobs. [00:20:56] We lost the Lordstown plant to Mexico and China. [00:21:01] Did nothing to stop it. [00:21:02] He's wholly unqualified to lead any position of power in Washington, D.C., completely out of touch. [00:21:11] His voting record resembles more Elizabeth Warren and Diane Feinstein, completely out of step with people of Ohio. [00:21:17] We'll expose him for that. [00:21:19] And when we do, we're going to turn the seat from blue to red and recapture the Senate majority, which is the only way we get our country back on track. [00:21:26] And so let's talk about some of the big issues that are happening right now. [00:21:30] For example, what's happening on the border: 5,000 people a day invading our country. [00:21:34] You're a legal immigrant. [00:21:35] You came into this country. [00:21:36] You love, you know, you love America. [00:21:38] And yet, it must be an insult to you to see just these lawbreakers, these vigilantes, 5,000 a day coming into the border across the border. [00:21:45] Your thoughts? [00:21:46] This is offensive to you. [00:21:48] It is wholly offensive to me. [00:21:50] This is, you know, my family came here legally. [00:21:53] We followed the rules. [00:21:54] We did all the right things. [00:21:55] I waited 13 years to become a U.S. citizen. [00:21:58] To reward people that are coming into our country legally is absolutely disgusting. [00:22:03] I actually believe it's treasonous that our elected leaders in D.C. even allow this to happen. [00:22:08] And what we've basically done, Charlie, is we've said, listen, here's the entire U.S. immigration policy. [00:22:14] And we've handed over responsibility for our immigration policy to the Mexican drug cartels, which is insane. [00:22:21] No country on earth would ever do something like that. [00:22:25] It is incredible we're allowing happen. [00:22:28] I want to play your announcement advertisement. [00:22:30] It's very good. [00:22:31] People should check it out here. [00:22:32] By the way, what's the website where people can help you out, Bernie? [00:22:34] Pretty straightforward. [00:22:35] Bernie Marino, M-O-R-E-N-O.com. [00:22:38] That's great. [00:22:38] Let's play CUT 21. [00:22:42] Where are we headed in America? [00:22:44] President Trump put us on a path to prosperity. [00:22:48] But today, China is buying our land, drugs pour through our borders, while our tax dollars flow to foreign countries and our jobs stream overseas. [00:22:58] The country we love is being ruined by insider politicians. [00:23:03] I'm Bernie Marino. [00:23:05] I've always been an outsider. [00:23:07] When I was five, my family came here legally in Columbia because my parents believed in the American dream. [00:23:14] I loved cars and dreamed of being the president of General Motors Meierberg, born in 1981. [00:23:21] And a lot of drive, I worked myself into the auto industry from the outside. [00:23:26] I wanted my own dealership, but industry insiders nearly stopped me. [00:23:30] I spent every cent I had and made it happen. [00:23:34] 15 years later, I owned 15 dealerships and had created thousands of Ohio jobs. [00:23:41] Now, I'm running for Senate. [00:23:43] And you guessed it. [00:23:44] I'd be an outsider in Washington, too. [00:23:47] I'm not a career politician. [00:23:49] I've never held office. [00:23:51] I'm doing this because I firmly believe that career politicians have put us in a ditch and we need outsiders to fix this country. [00:23:58] When my family left our home, it was for a better life. [00:24:02] But today, we're losing our country because corrupt and cowardly insider politicians from both parties sell us out. [00:24:11] We can take out the drug cartels at our borders, China in our economy, the criminals on our streets, and the leftists in our schools. [00:24:19] Only will we take out the politicians from office? [00:24:24] It takes new leaders who are willing to fight to save the America first values we share. [00:24:30] I will never apologize for my beliefs. [00:24:32] I will never apologize for fighting for the middle class to grow and thrive in this country. [00:24:37] When insiders lose, we win. [00:24:40] I'm Bernie Marino. [00:24:41] I'm an outsider conservative running for Senate. [00:24:45] Together, we'll turn Washington inside out. [00:24:53] It's a great ad. [00:24:54] So, Bernie, your life story is amazing. [00:24:56] I mean, so you've come here, you built something from nothing. [00:24:58] And so, Bernie, it must drive you nuts when you hear some of these activists at, you know, Ohio State University or any of these schools say that we're racist, we're an awful country, CRT. [00:25:08] I mean, you came here, you had to build something from absolute nothing. [00:25:12] Talk about this cancer, this virus of anti-American ism that is spreading throughout our country. [00:25:19] It's the most dangerous thing we're facing, Charlie, because the reality is everybody in America has the incredible privilege of being in this country. [00:25:27] This is the true privilege is being American. [00:25:30] And this is the greatest country on earth. [00:25:32] Even with our problems today, we're better than the next five countries combined. [00:25:36] And we've always been a great country. [00:25:38] We've been a beacon of hope for the whole world. [00:25:40] And what the left, the radical left and the media, especially in universities, is teaching our kids that there's something fundamentally wrong with the country when the reality, there's fundamentally something wrong with them. [00:25:52] You know, here's the deal. [00:25:54] You're not seeing Americans fleeing the country going to Mexico and Mexico asking us to put up a wall. [00:25:59] It's the other way around. [00:26:00] We have millions of people that want to come to this country, black people, Hispanics, now Chinese nationals. [00:26:06] This is a great country, but we have to control who comes here in an orderly fashion. [00:26:12] And that shouldn't be controversial, Charlie. [00:26:13] That's just common sense. [00:26:15] Well, and Sherrod Brown, who allegedly represents the working class voter, is doing the opposite. [00:26:21] Perfectly fine with open borders, perfectly fine with all this nonsense. [00:26:25] And he needs to be held accountable to it. [00:26:27] And so JD Vance is doing a fabulous job in the U.S. Senate. [00:26:31] And I think you would be a great one-two combo. [00:26:34] Talk about how you are going to represent Ohio values as Ohio has really become one of the more conservative states, not just in the Midwest, but in the country. [00:26:45] JD and I are good friends, and we both agree on the foundational principle that we have to get our own house in order. [00:26:52] We have to make certain that we're putting America first. [00:26:54] East Palestine being a great example, right? [00:26:57] Our president is out there giving billions of dollars to foreign countries on President's Day, while President Trump is in East Palestine caring for the people, showing empathy, making certain that they knew they weren't left behind. [00:27:10] You know, when JD went there and showed people what was really going on, that's what got the attention to finally happen on East Palestine. [00:27:16] But we have homeless vets. [00:27:18] We have Americans that grow hungry at night. [00:27:20] We have schools that are failing. [00:27:21] We have dangerous cities. [00:27:23] We can't take care of the rest of the world until we take care of America and grow our middle class first. [00:27:30] Again, that should not be controversial. [00:27:33] Everybody should be able to understand and rally behind that. [00:27:36] That's exactly right. [00:27:37] And we should be able to prioritize our own country. [00:27:40] What are your thoughts on America funding the proxy war in eastern Ukraine? [00:27:45] Well, the reality is we have to always remind people, Charlie, how we got into the situation in the first place. [00:27:52] Weakness by Obama Biden, invaded an invasion of Crimea by Putin. [00:27:57] That was one. [00:27:58] The Germans allowing themselves to be taken over economically for energy dependence on Russia. [00:28:05] And the Democrats, including Sherrod Brown, voting to lift those sanctions. [00:28:10] And of course, the horrific withdrawal from Afghanistan showed Putin that America wouldn't stand strong. [00:28:17] And then, of course, Biden ignored the fact that Russia was going to invade. [00:28:22] This war should have been stopped before it started. [00:28:25] And it was Biden that allowed it. [00:28:27] But now that the situation has occurred, we cannot give Ukraine a blank check. [00:28:32] Nobody should disagree with that. [00:28:34] And we have to make certain that we de-escalate this conflict and make certain that we find a way to resolve this. [00:28:41] Currently, China is leading those peace talks, which is just crazy. [00:28:45] It really is. [00:28:46] It's outrageous. [00:28:47] Bernie, website, BernieMoreno.com. [00:28:50] Best of luck, Bernie. [00:28:51] Thank you so much, and come back soon. [00:28:53] Thank you, Charlie. [00:28:54] I appreciate it. [00:28:54] Thanks for having me. [00:28:54] Thank you. [00:28:55] He'll be the good Bernie in the Senate for the record. [00:28:57] Email us freedom at charliekirk.com. [00:28:59] I'm going to play some tape here for you guys. [00:29:01] There's so much news happening today, and we're getting more and more news about the exit of Tucker Carlson. [00:29:10] It's just absolutely incredible. [00:29:12] The type of Republican that's really happy with Tucker Carlson being taken off the airwaves is Asa Hutchinson, play cut four. [00:29:19] So, Governor, you have said there's no point in running unless you're going straight at former President Trump. [00:29:24] You right now, though, in the polling are at 1% or less in all the recent polls. [00:29:28] So, you know, going after him is like walking into a buzzsaw. [00:29:31] Why are you doing it? [00:29:34] Well, because it's important. [00:29:35] What America does not want is another repeat of 2020 where we have Joe Biden and Donald Trump running against each other. [00:29:43] And so I'm running because I think we need alternatives and we need new leadership, a new direction in America. [00:29:50] We need new alternatives, new direction in America. [00:29:52] You see, he's exactly the type of Republican that Tucker Carlson made irrelevant. [00:29:58] Tucker Carlson made that entire genre of Republicans irrelevant. [00:30:04] That attitude, the smugness, the pomposity. [00:30:08] What was Tucker's famous sign-off? [00:30:10] We are the so he didn't do it as much recently, but he used to do it all the time. [00:30:15] We are the sworn enemy of groupthink, pomposity, smugness. [00:30:23] I think that's right, isn't it? [00:30:25] I think I got them all. [00:30:29] Lying, pomposity, smugness, and groupthink. [00:30:34] It was well said. [00:30:36] I'm going to play a chilling piece of tape of an interview I had with Tucker Carlson a couple years ago, where he predicted this. [00:30:45] Let's play cut 22. [00:30:47] Tucker said, they're going to take me out. [00:30:49] They're going to crush me. [00:30:50] He told us that a couple of years ago, play cut 22. [00:30:54] You got to go address all of our thousands of students. [00:30:57] Last piece of advice for young people, get married. [00:31:00] Yeah, get married and have a ton of kids. [00:31:02] I mean, get married when you're too young, have more kids than you can afford. [00:31:05] Take a job you're not qualified for. [00:31:07] Live boldly. [00:31:08] Stop getting high. [00:31:09] Stop doing anything that blurs your vision or makes time go faster. [00:31:13] You're going to die before you know it. [00:31:14] Don't waste a second. [00:31:15] That's the sin is living thoughtlessly and wasting time. [00:31:20] It's the one thing you can't get back. [00:31:21] I've wasted a lot of money in my life. === January 6th Federal Agents (04:13) === [00:31:24] Oh my gosh. [00:31:25] I don't care. [00:31:26] I don't regret any of it. [00:31:27] Every room service meal was worth it. [00:31:29] It was fine. [00:31:30] But any time that I wasted is really bitter for me because it's finite. [00:31:36] And so live as fully as you can. [00:31:38] And you can't control all this stuff that's going on. [00:31:40] You can't control what Google does. [00:31:41] And honestly, they're going to win. [00:31:43] Like, the powers that be will win, at least in the short term. [00:31:46] Ultimately, they'll all blow up. [00:31:47] But, like, we're powerless and hated. [00:31:50] I think this myself all the time. [00:31:51] Are they going to crush me? [00:31:52] Oh, yeah. [00:31:53] Okay. [00:31:54] Oh, yeah. [00:31:55] They're going to crush me. [00:31:57] Today on April 24th, at least his show has been crushed. [00:32:02] According to the Los Angeles Times, says that Rupert Murdoch himself pushed out Tucker Carlson. [00:32:09] Murdoch is also said to be concerned over Carlson's coverage of January 6th. [00:32:14] It's interesting how all these roads intersect, don't they? [00:32:18] Cut two, 60 minutes covering January 6th. [00:32:22] This is all around disruption of a sacred narrative. [00:32:27] Tucker Carlson was able to challenge something that was sacrosanct to the regime. [00:32:34] Play cut two. [00:32:36] One of the things that's now prevalent on the American right is sort of anti-government extremism, this idea that the deep state and the government is colluding against the American people. [00:32:44] This is part of a sort of an extremist ideology that says that the government is out to get the little guy, out to get the right-wingers, the conservatives, and will do anything, including setting them up at the Capitol to do so. [00:32:56] Yeah, it's a right-wing conspiracy to believe that there were federal agents there, even though Christopher Wray and documents have said that there are federal agents. [00:33:03] There were federal agents, and we don't know how many involved on January 6th. [00:33:07] How many informants were there? [00:33:08] How many federal agents were engaged? [00:33:10] We don't know. [00:33:10] That's the question. [00:33:11] We're just asking the question. [00:33:12] Tucker Carlson has done a profound service to the country. [00:33:21] And the left is celebrating because they think that Tucker leaving Fox News eliminates his voice. [00:33:24] That's wrong. [00:33:25] He will be stronger than ever. [00:33:27] He will have a bigger platform, especially in alternative media. [00:33:31] He could end up being a Joe Rogan-style voice. [00:33:34] And I think you want to talk about a popular podcast? [00:33:37] Woo! [00:33:38] Tucker Carlson sits down with people just at length and just chats. [00:33:43] Oof, that will be. [00:33:45] You think he was popular then? [00:33:49] He'll be popular, beyond powerful. [00:33:53] But it goes to show that they go after every one of them. [00:33:55] They indict Donald Trump. [00:33:56] They indict Steve Bannon. [00:33:57] They indict Dinesh D'Souza. [00:33:58] They take out James O'Keefe. [00:33:59] They take out Tucker Carlson. [00:34:02] It's part of their strategies. [00:34:03] It's part of their game plan. [00:34:05] Email here. [00:34:06] Charlie, don't you think the Dominion settlement and January 6th had anything to do with this? [00:34:11] Possibly. [00:34:11] We don't know. [00:34:12] We don't know all the dynamics. [00:34:13] What I do know is that this seems to be a total surprise, an absolute shock to the system. [00:34:19] And if I were to give business advice to Fox News, I would say you're making a big mistake here. [00:34:25] This is not smart. [00:34:27] Don't do this. [00:34:29] It seems that the Abby Grossberg lawsuit might have done this. [00:34:34] I don't know what it is, but we're just speculating at this point. [00:34:40] Tucker seemed joyful and himself on his program on Friday. [00:34:43] Seems like he was totally taken by surprise. [00:34:46] We'll see. [00:34:46] We'll see if they're able to survive. [00:34:48] They've lost a lot in market cap, and there are legitimate competitors. [00:34:54] But we reflect on, yeah, we reflect on the seven years that Tucker was on primetime television. [00:35:00] He was our go-to hedge against tyranny. [00:35:03] He was our go-to voice against totalitarianism. [00:35:10] We'll see where he ends up next. [00:35:12] Definitely one of the biggest news stories of this month and so far this year. [00:35:19] The narrative buster of Operation Mockingbird. [00:35:24] Thanks so much for listening, everybody. [00:35:25] Email us your thoughts as always, freedom at charliekirk.com. [00:35:28] Thanks so much for listening, and God bless.
