Time Text
The last uh 20 years or so, we have we have seen so many immigrants coming to Sweden that they that really doesn't like Sweden.
They don't want to integrate, they don't want to live in this society, you know, working, paying taxes and so on.
The people that come here now come here because they know that Sweden will give them money for nothing.
They don't have to work, they don't have to pay taxes, they can just stay here and get a lot of money, and that is, you know, really the problem.
It's long been claimed by the progressive left that there is no problem with migrant crime in Sweden, particularly rape against women.
Snopes, in fact, has a three-part series.
Crime in Sweden Part 1.
Is Sweden the rape capital of Europe?
False.
Crime in Sweden Part 2.
Are refugee men overrepresented in Swedish crime?
Mostly false.
Crime in Sweden Part 3.
Does Sweden have no go zones where the police can't enter?
False.
Are police in Sweden no longer investigating rapes since migrants arrived?
Mostly false.
It's not that they're making the conscious decision not to investigate crimes, particularly rape, it's that they are understaffed and they can't keep up with all of the crime.
They just don't have the resources.
In fact, they've been demonstrated to be true so frequently that the Swedish police had to stop making excuses.
For example, it's not migrant rape, it's the Nordic alcohol culture and ignorance that's causing rape of women in Sweden.
This came after a Swedish police report suggested that the migrants committing sexual assault were doing so because of Nordic alcohol culture, ignorance and the non-traditional gender roles of European women.
Titled The Current Situation of Sexual Molestation and Proposals for Action, the document seeks to explain the statistics and concludes on page 34 that Sweden tops the new EU statistics on physical and sexual violence against women, sexual harassment and stalking.
And the conclusion is because it's not their fault, it's the Swedes' fault.
On page 20, it explains that the background to the men who commit sexual molestation is multifaceted.
Migrants, it says, might not be able to handle the alcohol, simply feel horny, or have an ignorance of the consequences for the girls, have misplaced feelings, or be expressing anger in this way, or be acting due to peer pressure.
Some argue that sexual molestation is part of bullying, or the means for men to demonstrate their power over girls.
Yes, we call these people rapists.
They seem to be raping for the pleasure of it, because they feel like it, or to demonstrate their physical superiority over the women they are abusing.
But don't tell Snopes that, because they'll have to mark another article as mostly false.
And yes, the Swedish police in 2016 were in fact banned from describing criminals in case they sounded racist.
According to an internal letter, police in the capital city of Stockholm are instructed to refrain from describing suspects' race and nationality.
Local newspaper That I Can't Pronounce has reported that it's seen the letter which outlined how officers should notify the public of crimes.
Crimes that involve everything from live traffic accidents to serious crimes like muggings, beatings and murder.
The letter specifies that for everyday crimes such as burglary, basic information such as ethnicity, nationality and skin colour and height should not be given.
And the reason was to avoid pointing out ethnic groups as criminal.
Criticism is sometimes made against police regarding information about a person's skin colour.
It is perceived as racist.
As the police are not racist, nor shall be constructed as so, this directive now applied.
Sweden's attitude towards migrant crimes has become such a cliché, a Danish comedian has been mocking it roundly.
So last week, it turned out that yes, we can confirm that most convicted attackers are foreign-born.
You know what that means.
About 58% of men convicted in Sweden of rape and attempted rape over the past five years are foreign-born, according to data from the Swedish national TV.
Public broadcaster SVT said it has counted all courts' convictions to present a complete picture in Sweden, something the police will not do for reasons of political correctness.
But Sweden had thousands of more reported rapes, there is no ethnic breakdown for those.
Immigration and crime are major issues in Sweden's general election campaign.
The total number of offenders over five years is 843.
Of those, 197 were from the Middle East, North Africa, and 45 coming from Afghanistan.
The SVT program revealed that in cases where the victim did not know the attacker, the proportion of foreign-born offenders was more than 80%.
A former police officer born in Afghanistan told the program that some young Afghans who had come to Sweden in recent years had views that prepare yourself differed significantly from Sweden's idea of sexual equality.
And to be clear, the number of foreign-born people in Sweden, according to Wikipedia, is 14%.
And as you'll notice from this graph, reports of rapes since 2008 have indeed been going up on average, with the number of convictions going down.
Of course, because it's Sweden, the television station had to justify why they even decided to look up these numbers.
When asked why SVT have decided to produce a potentially inflammatory program ahead of the election, don't worry about the facts, don't worry about reality on the ground, don't worry about the victims of these people.
Why did you do it?
It's not politically correct.
Ulaf Johansen stressed that every political party was tackling issues around immigration, and it was important to give Swedes a better insight into their society.
What's left of it?
Rinkaby is almost like a war zone.
When the police work there, they operate as if they were a D-Army.
Migrants make up the vast majority of the Stockholm suburb of Rinkaby, with almost 90% first or second-generation immigrants.
The district has now been placed in Sweden's most severe category of urban areas with high crime rates.
That's as riots and burnt cars are becoming increasingly common in the areas.
But it's far from the only place developing a frightening reputation.
The city of Uppsala, some 70 kilometers from Stockholm, has been plagued by months of shocking violence.
Criminals have even been using hand grenades to target police stations.
And firefighters now require military-style law enforcement support.
And Sweden's third-largest city, Malmo, has also witnessed a huge rise in crime.
This year already, 59 shootings have left seven people dead and dozens injured.
Almost 80% of the local population say they live in fear, while over a third say they're afraid to even be alone on the streets at night.
Meanwhile, armed police have been deployed to protect nighttime joggers.
And this is something that has been noticed outside of Sweden, of course.
Here's an article from Polisco: Sweden's violent reality is undoing a peaceful self-image.
Politico observed that to understand crime in Sweden, it's important to note that Sweden has benefited from the West's broad decline in deadly violence, particularly when it comes to spontaneous violence and alcohol-related killings.
The overall drop in homicides has been, however, far smaller in Sweden than in neighbouring countries.
Gang-related gun murders, now mainly a phenomenon among men with immigrant backgrounds in the country's parallel societies, wow, that's racist, has increased from four per year in the early 1990s to around 40 last year.
Because of this, Sweden has gone from being a low-crime country to having a homicide rate significantly above the Western European average.
Social unrest with car torchings, attacks on first responders, and even riots are a recurring phenomenon.
Shootings in the country have become so common that they don't make top headlines anymore, unless they are spectacular or lead to fatalities.
News of attacks are quickly replaced with headlines about sports events and celebrities, as readers have become desensitized to the violence.
A generation ago, bombings against the police and riots were extremely rare events.
Today, reading about such incidents is considered part of daily life.
It's all part and parcel of living in a Western country, I would imagine.
Norwegians commonly use the phrase Swedish conditions to describe crime and social unrest.
And the view from Denmark was made clear when former president of NATO and Danish Prime Minister, I can't pronounce that, actually I can.
Anders Fo Rasmussen, I think, said in an interview on Swedish TV, I often use Sweden as a deterring example.
In response, instead of trying to cut the crime going on in their country, because whoa, that'd be racist, the Swedish government has launched an international campaign for the image of Sweden, playing down the rise in crime both in its media strategy and through tax-funded PR campaigns.
Why don't you actually address the fucking crime rates?
The reality is, of course, different for those on the ground, such as the head of the Paramedics Union and his predecessor, telling Polisko that some neighbourhoods are definitely no-go zones for ambulance drivers, at least without police protection.
This is what Tim Poole found out when he went to, I think it was Malmo he went to.
Snopes BTFO'd again.
Swedes are not prone to grandiose manifestations of national pride, but the notion of a Swedish model that the country has much to teach the world is a vital part of the national self-image.
And how ironic that it is true that the Swedes have much to teach the world.
This is how you don't run a country.
This is how you do not treat migrants.
This is how you do not protect your borders.
This is how you do not look after your own citizens.
Smashed windows, cars on fire.
One of Europe's most peaceful capitals, Stockholm, now witnessing its worst outbreak of violence in years.
Hundreds of youths, mostly immigrants, have ripped through the city's suburbs in four nights of unrest.
Swedish authorities are, of course, in a state of complete denial.
The rise in crime is just ignored, and Sweden is considered by their own government to be a humanitarian superpower because it opened their doors to so many immigrants per capita.
In March, labour market minister appeared on the BBC where she claimed that the number of reported rapes and sexual harassment cases is going down and going down and going down.
In fact, the opposite is true, and she later admitted this in an apology.
Why did she need to lie?
Former Prime Minister Carl Bilt for an op-ed for the Washington Post described the country's immigration policy as a success story.
I suppose it depends on what your criteria for success are.
To me, the Swedish model looks like a failure, but that's only because I'm interested in lowering the number of shootings, rapes, and hand grenade attacks that happen in my country.
After repeated attacks on Jewish institutions in December, including the firebombing of a synagogue in Gothenburg, Bilt took to the same paper to claim that anti-Semitism in Sweden is not a major problem.
I suppose it's not a major problem if you're okay with the amount of anti-Semites that you have imported into your country.
The Swedish government is also in denial about the Islamic terror attacks that happen in their country.
On the official government website, Facts about Migration, Integration and Crime in Sweden, which alleges to debunk myths about the country, says, one false claim listed by the government is that not long ago, Sweden saw its first Islamic terror attack.
Must be all that Swedish colonialism, all that imperialism they've been doing in Iraq and Afghanistan and Syria.
Sweden, the humanitarian superpower, is also an imperial project that is causing Islamic State Jihadis to attack their once peaceful country.
Of course, the Uzbek jihadist, I can't pronounce that, has pleaded guilty to the truck ramming that killed five people and swore allegiance to the Islamic State prior to the attack.
But it's not a terror attack.
It's not an Islamist terror attack.
It's something else that can't quite be identified.
Akhilov, who is currently standing trial, has proudly repeated his support for ISIS and stated that his motive was to kill Swedish citizens.
He also had documented contacts with international jihadis.
Nothing see here, folks.
This is just incredible to me, the level of doublethink and political correctness that has taken hold in Sweden.
A recent piece by, again I'm not going to pronounce that in the London Sunday Times, put a spotlight on immigration and violent crime.
The article caused a scandal in Sweden and was widely seen as part of the reason why the British and Canadian foreign ministries issued travel advice about the country, citing gang crime and explosions.
They make it sound as if violence is out of control, said Stefan Sinteus, Malmo's chief of police.
It didn't seem to occur to the police chief that both the travel advice and the article could reflect the same underlying reality.
After all, only a few days earlier, a police station in Malmö was rocked by a hand grenade attack.
Earlier the same month, a police car was destroyed in the city in an explosion.
These are attacks not only on the Swedish people, but on the Swedish state.
They are trying to overthrow your country.
When they start attacking your police stations and your policemen and government institutions, that is the opposite of integration.
That is an attack on the nation.
