Time Text
Hello everyone, welcome to this week in Stupid for the 4th of February 2018.
Guess who's a racist this week?
Oh that's right, it's Jordan Peterson.
He's a racist.
Are we really surprised?
Do we need to listen to a single thing this man has ever said?
No, we don't, because now we've decided he is just simply persona non-grata.
The former chair of Canada's Truth and Reconciliation Commission I don't even know what that is, but it sounds remarkably like a Ministry of Truth, doesn't it?
Says he's not surprised that University of Toronto professor Jordan Peterson posted a tweet that riffs on the old racist stereotypes about indigenous people.
Sinclair was reacting to a Twitter thread detailing Peterson's long history of making discriminatory statements.
That's such a weird thing to say.
Your statement was discriminatory.
Well, yeah.
Otherwise there'd be no truth value to any of it.
If people made statements that weren't in any way discriminating between one thing and another, there would be absolutely no purpose to them whatsoever.
And let me remind you that the problem with say racism, as Christopher Hitchens pointed out, is the lack of discrimination to treat an ethnic group as a monolith and to say that they are all the same.
And of course they have the gall to suggest that Peterson is promoting unscientific claims about the psychology of women.
Jordan Peterson is one of the most widely cited clinical psychologists on the planet.
I think he might actually be an authority when it comes to claims about the psychology of women.
I'm just saying he seems to be the man who actually knows what he's talking about.
And I'm just saying this because the people who are criticizing him for being a racist and misogynist come from the there is no such thing as biological sex school of thought, a school of thought that I find so laughable as to not even need to bother refuting them.
Over the weekend, critics on Twitter questioned CBC News' decision to grant the controversial professor airtime to promote his new book.
Well, of course they're trying to deplatform him.
After the absolute reaming he gave to Kathy Newman, I'm not surprised in the slightest.
Jordan Pietson is the single most effective weapon that we have against social justice.
Of course they don't want him to have airtime.
Of course they don't want him to sell his books.
Of course they want to shout him down as a racist and silence him.
That's why we should ignore these idiots.
One of the reasons for creating the Truth and Reconciliation Commission was to protect the historical record against misinformation and stereotypes rooted in racist belief systems.
Well, now I'm absolutely certain that the Truth and Reconciliation Commission is just a facsimile for Orwell's Ministry of Truth.
In one tweet dated March 24th, 2016, Pietson replied to a selfie posted by author Greg Hurowitz, it's good that you drank the liquor this time instead of letting some Indian steal it.
This is apparently explicit racial bigotry.
Now, I don't know what his relationship with Greg Hurwitz is, and I don't know whether he's referencing a specific incident that happened.
And neither do they.
But this is of course manifest bigotry.
How has this Jordan Peterson tweet anything but explicit racist bigotry?
Pietson of the University of Toronto wrote his doctoral thesis on potential psychological markers for the predisposition to alcoholism.
When he makes racialized remarks on the supposed link between indigenous peoples and alcohol, he's not making some kind of gaffe, this is intentional racism.
I guess recovery.org, a website trying to help alcoholics recover from being alcoholics, are also a bunch of racists as well.
Native American alcoholism facts and statistics.
I have a funny feeling this is going to be really fucking racist.
Heavy alcohol use.
According to the National Survey on Drug Use and Health, nearly 9.2% of Native Americans, aged 12 and older, were current heavy alcohol users, the highest rate of any ethnic group.
Fetal alcohol syndrome.
Native Americans have one of the highest rates of fetal alcohol spectrum disorders in the United States.
FASD can occur when a mother drinks alcohol during her pregnancy.
Overdose.
Native Americans have the highest rate of deaths from alcohol poisoning per million people.
This is such unbelievable bigotry.
How very dare they?
This is almost like Donald Trump pointing out that shithole countries are shitholes.
But even worse, Jordan Pietson was pictured with a guy with a MAGA hat and a Pepe flag.
I mean, that's really racist.
I mean, it's a widely recognized hate symbol and evidence of his appalling character.
Despite the fact that he seems to be massively popular and he seems to be a man of good character.
But hey, don't worry, this guy's holding a fucking flag with a cartoon frog on it.
This guy's clearly a racist.
Following that interview, Pietson was dogged by a video where he claims feminists have entered into an alliance with Muslims because they secretly yearn for brutal male domination.
The feminists, it's got to be because Muslims right now are higher up on the victim hierarchy than them.
So even if it's way over there, they're not allowed to speak out against it.
I think it's their unconscious wish for brutal male domination.
I don't think that's true.
I do.
No, I like that.
That's fun.
Well, where's the lie?
Well, is he wrong or is he saying things that piss off feminists?
Because if he's not wrong, then he's not wrong.
And that is the extent of the evidence that Jordan Pietson is basically the new Hitler.
It's nothing to do with the fact that we want to really damage his public reputation just because he is kicking our progressive asses up and down the aisle under the banner of being a British liberal.
But the thing is, there are much worse ways of dispelling a person's pleasant fictions.
As a Swedish politician who fought for equality and open borders found out after she was beheaded in the Congo.
Now this story was published today by the Gateway Pundit, which is a, frankly, right-leaning site that has a lot of bias.
So I decided to look into it more.
And yes, it turns out that this story was true.
It turns out that in April 2017, two UN experts went to the Congo where they were kidnapped and beheaded and it was all captured on video.
But hey, you know what?
I am totally for Sweden opening the borders to the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Just let them all in.
There are millions of them there who probably would have a better life living in Swedestan.
Maybe you should just open those fucking borders, you lunatics.
The video shown to a group of journalists in the capital on Monday appeared to show the two experts walking with a group of men wearing red headbands characteristic of the local Kumiana militia, according to a Reuters reporter.
Since July when the militia first launched an uprising, the UN estimates at least 400 people have been killed.
The film narrated by a Congolese police spokesman cuts midway through in the two are seen sitting on the ground and then shot.
Catalan is then subsequently beheaded.
Speaking of racists, the American left have worked out that they are going to need the help of the white working class voter if they ever want to win an election again.
Given how they've spent the last five years calling these people racists just because these people are not rich white progressive elites, I think that's going to be a lot more difficult than they think.
I really think that they're going to have a real problem explaining why these people should be sorry for their white privilege as they are struggling to make ends meet.
My job is to listen to the issues.
My job is to listen and be a voice.
And my job is to shut other white people down when they want to interrupt.
My job is to shut other white people down when they want to say, oh no, I'm not prejudiced.
I'm a Democrat.
I'm accepting.
My job is to make sure that they get, that they have privilege.
Following the noteworthy Democratic successes in the 2017 elections, we're once again hearing that Democrats can achieve their electoral goals without any greater success among the white working class.
Indeed, some on the left seem to feel that the democratic gestures towards the white working class would not only be ineffective, but are politically suspect.
Imagine that being your party line.
Not only can we not win over the white working class, but it would undermine our own political goals to do so.
It's the same for the socialist left in Britain as well.
They have found themselves to be very bourgeois parties.
And if there's one thing that the bourgeoisie can't stand, it's the disgusting working classes.
Because the disgusting working classes might wolf whistle at them on the street.
Or they might actually say, gee golly, mister, there might be a problem with mass Muslim immigration into Western liberal democracies, and not because of the colour of their skin, but because of the thoughts that are in their heads.
There's always been something problematic about the Democratic Party's fixation on white working class voters, writes Sally Cohn at the Daily Beast.
After Alabama, it's clear that the obsession isn't just fraught with bias, it's also dumb.
Really, Sally.
Really, it's a massive voting block, and you are systematically alienating them by calling them privileged and racist.
And you expect them to vote for you.
However, popular.
Why would that be popular?
The view that the white working class, as in just the people who are keeping your nation running because of the size of the voting block.
And these aren't like, and these aren't rich people who are getting along in life and who don't need any help.
These are the people who have been suffering most because of globalization.
The people who might actually need some help.
The reason that the Rust Belt went red.
The reason that Donald Trump is in office and you fucking morons think it's popular to shit on them.
I'm just saying I'm looking forward to a second term.
Give me fucking eight years of Donald Trump.
Give me eight years of hysterical progressive whining so I have another eight more years of fucking content to make.
I swear to God, I am going to catalogue the complete destruction of the progressive movement.
But anyway, however popular, the view that Democrats can get along without the white working class voters is simply wrong.
It reflects wishful thinking and a rigid set of political priors, namely that Democrats' political problems always stem from insufficient motivation of base voters.
More than a cold, hard look at what the electoral and demographic data say.
Consider the following.
There were far more white non-college voters in 2016 election than are shown by the exit polls.
A report for the Center of American Progress, synthesizing available public survey data, census data and actual election returns, found that 2016 voters were 44% white non-college and just 30% white college educated.
What a fucking surprise.
The uneducated, poor, working class white voter in a majority white country happens to outnumber the insufferable progressives.
This suggests the exit polls were not just wrong, but massively wrong, especially in the context of the Rust Belt swing states, where errors were even larger and the political implications of a misunderstanding graver.
The white working class vote is still Democrats' critical weakness.
Despite Democratic gains in Virginia, Gov Ralph Northam still lost the white non-college vote by more than 30 points.
That's little better, if at all, than Clinton's performance in the state in 2016.
This is especially worrisome because white non-college voters remain a larger group than white college voters in almost all states.
As in, these are the majority of the people in the United States.
This is a huge voting block, and these people want to be helped.
They want a politician who is actually going to look out for their interests.
Whether you think Donald Trump has done this or not, that's what he sold himself on.
He is a massive class traitor, and as soon as he starts speaking, you can see why.
He sounds just like these people.
Which is why the urban elites on both sides of the aisle both clutched their very bourgeois moralistic pearls.
I can't believe you've got Haiti and shithole Donald Trump.
Let me be clear.
Haiti is a shithole.
When Donald Trump says Haiti is a shithole, he is speaking the unvarnished truth, which is how literally every single working class person in the entire world would describe Haiti.
It is a shithole by every single metric we have available.
Out of 151 countries on the Human Development Index, Haiti is 137.
Haiti is 17 points lower than Zimbabwe.
Haiti is a fucking hole.
It is one point ahead of the Congo where they are beheading UN representatives.
And I'm sorry that it's a hole, but it's not my fault, and I'm not going to pretend that it's fucking not.
It's just the fact of the matter.
Until the Democrats learn how to speak to the white working class, I can say with absolute certainty and a great deal of joy that they are not going to win any elections.
The left seems to be for open borders, partly because they think they can save the third world from impoverishment, but also because they know that these people will vote for them.
We need to close our borders for many reasons, and this is just another one of them.
Another great thing that happened this week was Trump's interview with Piers Morgan.
Now, I thought this interview was going to go a lot worse than it did, because Piers Morgan has an insufferably regressive streak within him.
But the conversation he had with Trump was fantastic, especially with Donald Trump being forced to address the fact whether he was a feminist or not.
Now, of course, we all knew that he was going to say no, but it's good to have him on record, and it's good to have a publication like The Hill printing the headline, Trump.
I wouldn't say I'm a feminist.
Trump said that he wouldn't call himself a feminist in a new interview with Piers Morgan.
No, I wouldn't say I'm a feminist.
I mean, I think that would be going too far.
I'm for women, I'm for men, I'm for everyone.
Now, that's fantastic, because a layman's interpretation of feminism, which is all Trump is really going to be capable of giving, but I don't blame him for that, is that feminism is not for men, or, well, a lot of women either, if the way feminism is acting is anything to go by.
And that's fantastic.
We need more of this messaging in the public dialogue.
The more articles they have to print like this, the better.
And the thing is, it's not that Donald Trump hasn't had his encounters with feminists before either.
I want to get paid the same as a man, and I think you understand that.
So, if you become president, will a woman make the same as a man?
And do I get to choose what I do with my body?
You're gonna make the same if you do as good a job.
Honestly, what a fucking legend.
Anyway, let's travel over to my home country of Blighty for a moment and talk about the way that things are happening here.
When a mob of communists marched into a cafe that's named after Churchill to denounce Winston Churchill, it gave the Conservatives an actual moral ground on which to attack Jeremy Corbyn.
Listen to this nonsense We cannot accept the unashamed, colonial and gentrifying presence of this cafe You will never make colonialism palatable We demand that To the owner of the cafe, apologise to the local community for their poorly thought and insensitive branding and properly change it from the menu to the aesthetics and decor of the cafe To the customer, we ask you that you boycott this cafe until they take the concerns of the community seriously.
It is our duty to fight for our freedom.
It is our duty to fight for our freedom.
It is our duty to win.
It is our duty to win.
We must love and support each other.
We must love and support each other.
We have nothing to lose by our chains.
We have nothing to lose by our chains.
It is our duty to fight for our freedoms.
It is our duty to fight for our freedom.
It is our duty to win.
It is our duty to win.
We must love and support each other.
We must love and support each other.
We have nothing to lose by our chains.
We have nothing to lose by our chains!
It is our duty to lose.
Churchill was a racist.
I'm just gonna put the map location of this cafe up on the screen of some free advertising for them They obviously haven't asked me to do this, but I would like this cafe to have some free publicity.
I'm probably going to go there myself next time I'm in London just to see what it's like because it has a four and a half out of five star review and so it's probably a pretty damn good cafe and it'll really piss these activists off.
Anyway, the smiles on their faces when they claim this cafe is gentrification and colonialism demonstrates that they don't believe what they're saying.
They know this is a joke.
They know that what they are doing is LARPing.
They are play acting.
And another thing to listen to, when she was saying, it is our duty, that's not how an English person says it.
They say duty, as you can hear when the rest of the middle-class students decide to echo her words, which incidentally come from an American activist called Asata Shakur, a woman who is not only a murderer, but currently in exile in Cuba for the murder that she committed.
And this is their chant, the Black Lives Matter chant that has been imported from the United States.
There is no legitimacy for Black Lives Matter in this country.
And you can tell on the faces of the students as they are protesting this cafe that they don't believe so either.
For the high crime of offering Commonwealth cuisine, we were treated to a cringe fest.
And I loved the responses from the people in the cafe.
Just sit there quietly, don't move.
If we just let them talk, the lunatics will soon leave peaceably and in good order.
Which they did.
And the man who challenged them was right.
Churchill was fighting for our freedom, but they have a point too.
Churchill was also a racist.
Because in the 1940s, it wasn't really one of the top issues of the day.
In the 1940s, we had some other problems that somehow were more important than racism.
In fact, it is a testament to the work that Churchill did that we can now, in peace and luxury, be concerned about the prevalence or not of racism in our country, to the point where we can determine a cafe in London to be part of gentrification.
I do have to say, though, Boris, these people aren't really a hard-left mob.
I mean, they are technically, but they're also bourgeois students who are no personal threats to anyone.
I mean, if they were, for example, working class anti-fire activists, maybe I'd say maybe there's a potential for violence.
But with these kids, they're soft as butter.
You don't need to worry about them.
But they are, of course, Jeremy Corbyn supporters, and since we're talking about Jeremy Corbyn's supporters, we may as well talk about Jeremy Corbyn and his lunatic plan to let rough sleepers move into luxury flats.
That's ridiculous.
And I'm saying this as someone who always gives money to homeless people when I see homeless people.
I am very sympathetic to the plight of people on the streets, but suggesting that they should be given luxury flats is fucking absurd.
Jeremy Corbyn vowed to buy 8,000 homes and create new powers for councils to take over deliberately empty luxury flats to end rough sleeping.
Well, here's a newsflash for you, Jeremy.
That's not going to end rough sleeping.
But more importantly, somebody owns those flats, whether deliberately empty or not, and the local councils should not have the power to simply take them over, as in appropriate them, you fucking socialist.
What Jeremy Corbyn doesn't even seem to realize here is that he is actually undermining the legitimacy of the UK government.
If it's okay for them to just take these flats, why not some other flats?
Why not someone else's property?
Why not just take all of it?
But like I said, I'm not unsympathetic to the fact that homeless people have problems, and many people become homeless through no fault of their own.
And so I am completely happy to have taxpayer-funded homeless shelters, where people who, if they don't have a fixed abode, a place of residence, as in a place to clean their clothes, wash themselves, take care, grooms so they can get jobs, get back on their feet, I'm happy for that to be something the government does.
I'm not happy for a psychotic zealot like Jeremy Corbyn to start appropriating property.
Believe it or not, I don't think the options are fuck homeless people or give homeless people mansions.
And I say this because there is a problem with homelessness in this country.
As you can see, the number of people sleeping rough has doubled in five years.
This is something I would like to see addressed.
And unfortunately, at the moment, the only people trying to address it are the goddamn socialists.
It's giving them political capital because this is a problem.
I mean, it's not like feminists are ever going to give a damn about this.
It's not like the conservatives are going to give a damn about this.
No one cares apart from the socialists.
The problem with Marxists is they're the only people in bourgeois societies who actually care about the poor.
They're the only people actually trying to talk to them.
The bourgeoisie themselves, whether left or right, don't really care.
They don't want to actually get down and help these people.
Whereas, I don't know, say a Liberal party might want to actually do something to reduce the number of homeless and might not also want to start appropriating property.
And so finally this week we come to our illustrious Prime Minister, Theresa May, who has basically lost all support as the Prime Minister, but there is no alternative save voters.
Theresa May has lost the support of 3 in 10 voters who supported her in the general election, but people are not enthused by any of her potential rivals, according to a poll.
A YouGov poll found that 69% of people who voted for the Tories in 2017 think Mrs. May should continue as Prime Minister, with 18% saying that she should stand down and let someone else take over, with the rest saying that they did not know.
The 18% are correct.
Theresa May is weak and frankly useless, which is why Donald Trump bitched her out on how she's handling the Brexit negotiations.
She is spineless.
She is not giving the European Union the ultimate threat, which is to flip the table and walk away, giving them no money and no deal, which will hurt them more than us in the long run.
We have money, they need our money, we should be calling the shots.
Instead, when Theresa May finally finds some bollocks and starts making some demands during the Brexit negotiations, Angela Merkel laughs in her fucking face.
If the Fuhrer of Germany is laughing at you, Theresa, maybe you should just pull the fucking plug.
You should say, damn the results.
This will not stand.
End of story.
If she has the gall to ridicule you, if she has the gall to ridicule you, you her negotiating opponent, you must take action.
And it's not like Merkel is standing on firm ground anyway.
Her popularity has never been lower and she had to form a coalition to stay in power.
She is weak, but you somehow are weaker.
But if for some reason people can't figure out who might be a good replacement for Theresa May, I might be able to make a recommendation.
These forecasts come from the same source as the rotten forecasts made before the vote to leave.
The Treasury at that point said that unemployment would rise between 500 and 800,000.
This turned out to be nonsense.
Bad forecasters come up with bad forecasts.
Look at the track record of the groups that have made these forecasts.
If you look at both the Treasury and the Bank of England, their forecasts around Brexit have been comprehensively wrong and I think politically motivated.
And although this is drawn on other government sources, it is basically the Treasury that is driving this forecasting.
And they've been wrong before, and they're doing it over a 15-year time period when they can't even forecast for six months.
So to think you have any idea where the economy will be in 15 years is erroneous.
We would continue effectively to be a member of the European Union without any say in it if we just accept those guidelines.
And the government should show some backbone and remember that that is the EU's negotiating position.
It is not holy writ.
I hope that the Prime Minister will stick to her Lancaster House speech in the Tory Party manifesto, which I think makes these guidelines very difficult.
But what's so important is that the government sets out its end state.
There are many things that could be accepted in an interim period if the end state were clear.
Currently it isn't and that is an important gap.
But we should say to them, you need £39 billion to remain solvent for the last 21 months of the multi-annual financial framework.
Are you going to get Germany to pay more or Poland to get less?
You need our money, you need a deal, and we're not going to accept this.
I can't help but think that maybe, just maybe, the Conservative Party might actually have the man that they need.
They are just afraid because of the Tory old guard of letting him do the job that the country needs him to do.
And Mog has shown that he is more than capable of standing up to the far left as well.
In fact, he has absolutely no fear of them whatsoever.
Outrage 2!
Get off our campus!
You're not welcome!
No, thank you!
Racist!
Overbroken!
Sexist!
Get out!
Get out!
Fuck off!
Please, please, go!
I don't care!
Get out!
No!
Where's the bank with mate?
No!
We need to talk!
Take your tension!
Get out!
No!
That's fine!
Get out!
No!
God fucking strap!
Jim Polemy!
You just punched a woman!
You just punched a fucking woman!
Ladies and gentlemen!
Please calm down!
There wasn't anything about this interaction I didn't like.
I loved, absolutely loved, the feminist man.
No platform for sexist, no platform for sexists, and then suddenly, you just hit a woman.
Well, it's equal rights and equal lefts, my friend.
I mean, I thought you were a feminist.
But Mogg handled that like a boss.
He just marched straight up to them, showing them absolutely no fear whatsoever.
Which is precisely what we need in a leader of this country at this time.
We need someone who is going to be able to resist the moral compulsions of the left, and we need someone who is going to be able to dismantle the negotiating position of the European Union.
I don't agree with everything Jacob Rees-Mogg stands for.
I don't agree with everything that he believes or everything that he says.
But right now, he is the only man in the entire country that I would have any faith in to solve our problems.
And Mog's response to this in an interview afterwards was just magnificent.
Mog said that he chose to engage with the protesters because he knew they weren't going to hit me.
There were 300 people there who wanted to engage in serious debate and discussion.
There were four or five people who wanted to shout, but they only wanted to shout.
They weren't physically threatening.
A little bit of shouting doesn't do anybody any harm.
I take a very relaxed view of it.
The MP added he did not feel in danger, adding, if I felt threatened, I wouldn't have gone up to talk to them.
They're British.
They weren't going to do me any harm.
They disagree with me.
They disprove of everything I stand for.
But they are good, honest British citizens.
weren't going to hit me.
And ultimately, we saw that in the protesters in the cafe in London as well.
Despite the fact that these people might be acting inappropriately, they weren't acting violently.
And this really is part of the wider cultural dimension of British politics.
