Hello everyone, welcome to this week in Stupid for the 17th of September 2017.
So next week, I believe Milo is doing a free speech week at Berkeley.
And I'm thinking about popping out for it.
What do you guys think?
I'll be in Milwaukee for the Mythsist conference the week after, so I figure I could probably just go out a week earlier and see everyone and see what happens and then head over to Mythsist.
And I bring this up because it looks like the Berkeley police are finally doing something about Antifar.
Nine arrested as protesters gather at UC Berkeley for talk by Conservative speaker Ben Shapiro.
You know, that's well-known Nazi.
The amount of people I've seen calling Ben Shapiro a Nazi is genuinely disturbing.
I mean, these people literally can't know anything about the Nazis if they think Ben Shapiro could be a Nazi, both ideologically and ethnically.
You can't label him with Nazi.
That just doesn't make sense.
So why would you keep saying it?
I mean, why chant it?
It makes you look ridiculous.
So hundreds of protesters swarmed UC Berkeley on Thursday evening as Conservative writer Ben Shapiro spoke on campus, with law enforcement out in force to prevent a repeat of violent clashes between far left and far right agitators.
Thank fuck we're getting them categorized in the same way these days.
Yes, but I think it is worth pointing out that the far left are the instigators of all of this.
But that's fine, as I don't care as long as the police go out and make sure they can't commit violence.
It's quite a sign of the times though that this cost $600,000 for the security for this event.
Ben Shapiro is not in any way a dangerous man.
It really speaks to how far left things have gone when a centre-right Republican becomes enemy number one and becomes a giant threat to the entire establishment.
I mean, it is insane that there is any need for any security surrounding Ben Shapiro.
Days earlier, Berkeley police chief Andrew Greenwood successfully lobbied the city council to adjust the 1997 ban on the use of pepper spray as a crowd control technique.
On the Thursday, the officers were free to use pepper spray on individual protesters deemed violent.
Good.
Do these people look like the biggest group of stereotypes, or is it just me?
There's a sort of young, confused college girl who's going to grow out of her revolutionary activism when she feels the need to get married.
There's the young guy who's looking to get laid and then there's the butch lesbian who hates men.
I bet that's accurate.
Unlike previous events, it's actually good to see the police actually in the crowd.
Actually doing something, actively preventing violence, making sure that it's, as they say here, verbal arguments.
Good.
Oh, look at that.
A line of police officers protecting property.
That's a great idea.
That's in fact exactly what they're paid for.
I mean, that is literally the foundational purpose of our governments.
That's where they draw their legitimacy, the protection of private property, and finally, we can get the cops to do it.
My goodness.

Actually doing their jobs.
To be fair, I shouldn't sound like a dick, especially if I'm gonna go there and I might need the protection, but it's, and it's not their fault.
I'm absolutely sure it's not their fault.
You know, I'm not having a go at them.
I'm having a go at the fucking hires up.
And good on the officers like, no, we want to be able to use pepper spray.
Because I want him to be able to use pepper spray.
Fuck these middle class kids.
And that's what this is.
It's middle class kids who have had their soft heads fucking filled with Marxist shit and persuaded them that, oh, by the way, what we need to do is destroy your entire country.
Listen, dipshit, if you're a good person and you've lived a comfortable life and the people around you are good people and they're living comfortable lives and generally things are pretty good, there's a good chance you don't need to just upend the entire system because of a few flaws.
There's a good chance you can just work on those flaws.
So Shapiro's talk marked the start of a parade of right-wing speakers who may be coming to the campus over the next month.
They include former White House chief strategist Stephen Bannon and Anne Coulter and Milu Yiannopoulos.
One of the reasons I'm going to go out there.
Could be fun, maybe I'll get some good interviews.
But yeah, they are right-wingers.
At least they didn't call them far-right.
I mean, maybe Anne Coulter is, but I don't think the rest of them are actually far-right.
I just think they're kind of right-wing nationalist types.
But yeah, I think they should be able to speak.
Police officers set up physical barriers in a roughly half-mile-long perimeter around six campus buildings Thursday afternoon, cutting off access to Sprual Plaza, the site of Marie Salvio's famous 1964 address during the free speech movement and a common meeting ground for activists of all types.
Yeah, yeah, activists, stripes, sorry, activists these days who are actually anti-free speech.
And I'm not joking, I mean, these people burn free speech banners and placards.
They burn them.
I mean, these people are actually anti-free speech as a principle?
It's actually insane to me, because you can't be for your own free speech if you're against their free speech.
What you are for is domination.
What you are for is it's okay when we do it.
And therefore, it's okay because we're doing it.
Because that's the only justification you have.
It's not okay for everyone.
It's not a principle.
It's one-sided bullying.
And I can't see how you rationalise it in your own head.
Just like, oh my god, this is going to be dangerous.
Well, dangerous to what?
It's not going to be dangerous for people to hear, say, Ben Shapiro talk, or Milo talk, or Steve Bannon talk, or Anne Coulter talk.
That's not dangerous.
They're not going to say anything that's even remotely outside of what they normally say anywhere, anyway.
So what difference does it make?
It's dangerous to the integrity of your ideology, because the integrity of your ideology is dependent on not accepting certain arguments as even vaguely true.
And if someone can make a good argument and demonstrate that this is true, well, that's the integrity of your ideology completely violated.
And once you've got one crack in it, once it starts showing weakness, it'll just then eat up the entire thing.
And you know it.
Which is why you can't stand ahead and speak.
Because you are totalitarians, and the sooner you admit this, the sooner we can get you some fucking help.
So changing gears to Sweden, I have translated this, but I think the translation should be able to tell us everything we need to know.
Young new arrivals will learn about sex.

So shifting gears to talk about labor, a new thing about John McDonnell has come out.
John McDonnell, for anyone who doesn't know, is the Shadow Chancellor Exchequer and he is a communist, a self-avowed Marxist.
And now a new video has come out where he's seeking to seize power from the Tories through insurrection.
Yes, we should watch.
Elections aren't working for us.
So when it comes to coordinating industrial actions, we need coordinating street action as well.
And that means, as we did a few weeks ago, if we have to, close up Parliament Square with thousands of people turning up.
Close all Westminster Bridge.
Get out into the streets in formidation.
And demonstrate there's more to democracy than just a vote every five years.
Democracy is about taking control of your own community.
And that means industrial requirement of direct action.
We used to call it insurrection.

Let's get back to calling it what it is.
Okay, so I have to say I take an objection to several of the statements there.
One, democracy isn't working for us.

The rest of the country, the overwhelming majority of the country, I am absolutely certain will want to stay as a democracy.

I mean, I don't think you would have any compunction in destroying the concept of democracy in this country, judging by from what you've said there.
And why should I tolerate that?
Calling for an insurrection, because we live in a liberal democracy that won't enact socialism, makes you a revolutionary, John, and a threat to the nation, the state.
I like the state as it is.
I don't think you should be able to just overthrow it.
Therefore, John, you're a dangerous man.
I hope we can be clear about what John McDonnell is, and that's an anti-democratic communist activist.
He needs to be stopped.
I don't see how he is a viable person to choose to become Chancellor of the Exchequer of a liberal democracy.
If anything, I think he would be a danger to the system.
I don't think we should trust him at all.
I mean, just parliamentary democracy doesn't work for us.
Elections aren't working for us.
Yeah, but that's because you're radical lunatics who wouldn't serve most of the country, which is why most of the country doesn't want you, or at least didn't want you.
And God forbid they think in the next election that they do.
Tory MP Andrew Bridgen said he and his crew are dangerous anti-democratic Marxists trying to achieve through the mob what they failed to achieve democratically through the ballot box.

McDonnell even called it a class war, which I suppose it is, but it's generally being waged by the Marxists.

Destiny's developer has apologised after featuring armor in the video game that resembles a flag associated with the alt-rights and internet trolls.

This week, Tunisian women became free to marry non-Muslims.
Which just goes to show you how far behind they are in women's rights.
This is just such a huge statement on the backwards nature of Islamic societies.
A spokeswoman made the announcement and congratulated women on gaining the freedom to choose one's spouse.
Well, that's so very free.
Thank you for that freedom, I imagine.
Until now, a non-Muslim man who wished to marry a Tunisian woman had to convert to Islam and submit a certificate of his conversion as proof.
Because Islam is a supremacist movement.
And you can't have Muslim women being able to marry non-Muslims and get away with continuing to be a supremacist movement.
I mean there was an Egyptian Islamic scholar who said, oh, no, it's a Saudi Islamic scholar, sorry, who said that the only thing that had kept Islam alive was the law against apostasy and the death penalty for it.
And it's probably true, because it's a highly oppressive system, and why the fuck would anyone want that?
And to try and escape it has been the goal of, well, I was going to say women's rights activists, but just liberal activists in general.
I mean, look at the, like, love of the hijab in America at the moment, led by people like Linda Sarsour, in comparison to the actual women actually living in, say, Iran, you know, the Islamic Republic of, who are desperate to get away from headscarf laws.
Who are desperate to not have to cover themselves up?
Tunisia, which is 99% Muslim, is viewed as one of the most progressive Arab countries in terms of women's rights.
Yes, I suppose for an Arab country, that is progressive.
Allowing women to choose their own spouse is very progressive.
This commentary is important though.
So it sets Tunisia apart as the first country in the Middle East and North Africa to remove the legal hurdles to marrying outside of the official state religion.
They all have it.
All of the women in the Middle East can't marry outside of Islam.
How on earth can any feminist ever say that Islam is a feminist religion?

Actually, I mean, literally determining who women can and can't marry.
And this week in Venezuela, Venezuela's president advises malnourished citizens to breed rabbits and eat them.
If it wasn't so sad, I would laugh.
But okay, Socialist Party of Venezuela, who are currently turning the country socialist, advise the citizens to start breeding and eating their own rabbits.
Venezuela's government has launched a scheme to encourage people to breed rabbits and eat them as a way of countering frequently chronic food shortages and growing child malnutrition.
Reuters said that Mr. Maduro's adversaries dismiss the idea as nonsensical, insisting the real problem is a failed model of oil finance socialism that was unable to survive after crude markets collapse.
Well look, you just haven't really thought about the rabbit plan properly.

I mean it looks justified at this point from my perspective.
And I have absolutely no sympathy for multinational corporations.

But you can't just go around appropriating their property because you don't like them.
But again, again, let's think about the rabbit plan.

Our results clearly show that the general levels of malnutrition are rising and acute malnutrition in children who've crossed the crisis threshold.
If we don't respond soon, it will be very difficult for these children to ever get back on the nutritional growth curve.
That's a great point.
