Hello everyone, welcome to this week in Stupid for the 8th of May 2016.
If you find anything you'd like to see in this week in Stupid, tweet using hashtag TWIS or post to our Sagan of Akkad.
I'm sorry if you can hear any birds tweeting in the background of this video, but it's just too damn hot for me to close the window.
So the petition to suspend social justice courses has reached almost 68,000 people, which is pretty fucking amazing.
And I'm going to show you why that's significant later on in this episode.
But first, let's talk about Sadiq Khan, the Muslim man who has been elected as London's mayor.
Now, I had actually never heard of Sadiq Khan before the mayoral election, so I don't know anything about him, so when I'm presented with him, I haven't got any particular prejudgments about him based on past behaviour.
So I had a quick look, and his key priorities are apparently addressing the housing crisis, freezing transport fares, creating job opportunities for Londoners, and cutting pollution, which he's of Pakistani heritage, but born and raised in Britain, in London.
He beat out the Tory candidate Zach Goldsmith by quite a reasonable margin, so okay, the Londoners have elected him as their mayor.
What's the problem?
This is just how democracy works.
So you can generally spot a racist because they are the first people to bring up race in any given conversation.
So when Sadiq Khan said, there are too many white men on transport for London, I naturally thought, oh, he seems to be a racist.
London's transport authority is far too dominated by white men, Leia's mayoral candidate Sadiq Khan said today.
Okay, you do sound like a racist.
There are currently 13 white men on the Transport for London board and just three women.
Khan said he would ensure the board better reflected the diversity of Londoners if he becomes mayor.
Fucking hell.
I will reshape TfL's board.
Fucking hellman, what are you talking about?
You're telling me you're going to do this and discriminate on the basis of race?
I have no idea whether the people on TFL's board are doing a good job or not, and that's not even something you're telling me about.
You can't even tell me people who are doing a bad job are there.
All you can tell me is that most of them are white, and that's a problem to you.
He said, 13 of them are white men.
13.
Think about it.
It only has three women on it.
That's less than one in five.
Okay, I'm thinking about it.
But I don't know what you're supposed to get from this if you're not a giant bigot.
And he suggested that the needs of women and ethnic minorities are being neglected as a result.
So you're saying that they're being racist and sexist because they are white men.
I think we have found the racist and sexist.
But you know, I'm sure there are problems, you know, I'm sure there are loads of problems faced only by women and minorities.
Because, you know, white people are now the minority in London.
So we're seeing the mayor of London being actively racist to a minority in his city.
So don't don't worry, I believe there are problems.
But do you think it's because they're white and male that these problems are not being taken care of?
Or is it possibly for some other reason?
Now, I'm not suggesting Sadiq Khan even knows that he's being a racist here.
He seems to have adopted the progressive attitudes towards white people being the oppressors, and therefore, you can't be racist to white people.
Which is an attitude that is being found everywhere.
Take for example the Fuhrer over the Oxford student who refused to tip a white waitress until, quote, land is returned in South Africa.
This guy's name is going to be impossible for me to pronounce, but I'll try anyway.
Natokozo Kwabe, who is a Lord's student at Oxford, was criticised for the incident in which he appeared to mock a waitress whom his friend refused to tip to make a point about racial repression.
Both friends are reportedly part of the Rhodes Must Fall movement, which campaigned for the removal of a statue of colonialist Cecil Rhodes from Oxford's Oriel College.
What a surprise.
If you don't know what the Rhodes Must Fall movement is, go and look it up.
You'll be amazed at what you find.
But the too long didn't read version is history is racist.
And he posted this on Facebook.
Lol Wow, unable to stop smiling because something so black, wonderful, and lit just happened.
And of course, the catalyst was a radical non-binary trans black activist of the Rhodes Must Fall movement.
Because trans activists have been the ultimate blessers of this decolonial struggle.
To cut a long story short, we were out of the OBS Cafe when the said activist and the time for the bill comes.
Our waitress is a white woman.
I asked the said activist what the going rates for tips gratuity is in these shores.
They look at me very reluctantly and they say, give me the slip, I'll sort that out.
I give them the slip.
They take the pen and paper and the notes, and where the gratuity tip amount is supposed to be entered, the note reads in bold.
We will give tip when you return land.
The waitress comes to us with a card machine for the bill to be sorted out.
She sees the notes and starts shaking.
She leaves us and bursts into typical white tears.
Like, why are you crying when all we've done is make a kind request, Lol?
So yeah, I think we've spotted the racist here, and I'm not surprised she's crying.
What the hell has she ever done?
For you to start accusing her of racial repression.
I don't think she owns any land, you fucknut.
I think she's probably a piss-poor waitress who is relying on a tip.
But I know what his response would be.
No, white people as a class are oppressing black people as a class, which is why I, a black person, went to a university founded and run by white people, funded and paid for by the white supremacist government, so I could go to Oxford University and learn about how white supremacist everything is.
It's like the white supremacy is rubbing it in my face by having programs for the poor people to help educate them, to help improve their lives.
I mean, it's weird.
It's such a weird form of white supremacism that promotes a black guy and gives him a help up.
I just can't explain it, but trust me, it's there.
My professor said so.
And through the magic of collectivism, now a successful black person can take a giant shit on a piss-poor white person and feel okay about it.
And the person he's shitting on is a person called Ashley Schultz.
I mean, she just happens to be a white woman forced to drop out of university due to costs and has worked there for the past four years while caring for her sick mother, a former nurse, who has cancer.
And this all ended with him railing against whites in a lengthy diatribe.
Thankfully though, there are normal people out there who are still against racism, no matter what the justification.
And they decided to chip in and get £2,000, which is about £3,000, to give to this waitress as a tip out of the fucking kindness of their hearts.
Now, this is important for a few reasons.
The first one being, this is a very definite and obvious case of racism.
The second one is that the student in question is looking at the waitress through his social justice lenses.
She is not an individual who has her own life circumstances and is struggling to cope.
No, she is part of the white oppressor class and therefore she should give back the land.
Do you think this poor African guy was thinking that they're white supremacist capitalist oppressors when they were giving him a scholarship?
When they were giving him money to go to university?
Do you think on that day he was like, God, I can't believe the supremacist patriarchy that's suppressing the blacks is paying for me to go to university in Oxford of all things.
I don't think he thought of it then.
But he's come out of it now and he thinks it.
He's 24 now, he's at the end of the course, and now he's running around raging about white people and accusing a waitress of oppressing people.
So I'm sorry when I say yes, we are looking at Marxist principles misappropriated to the lens of gender and race and whatnot.
I'm going to shorthand it to Marxist.
It's just easier.
There is simply no doubt that students are getting this Marxist lens burned onto their eyeballs at universities to the point where they can't take it off and we've got some moron raging in a cafe.
This case is significant because there has been a petition with 44,000 signatures delivered to Oxford to get him expelled, which the Daily Mail has reported on.
Petitions can gain mainstream media attention.
So this is why I'm asking that if you're watching this and you haven't yet signed the petition to stop social justice in universities, because we know this is where it's coming from.
Please take five minutes to sign the petition because I really want to stop the march of justified racism, no matter where it's coming from.
And at the moment, the most virulent form is coming from universities.
We can worry about the far right another time.
These are the people who are commanding the public dialogue.
Listen to what Kwabe has said here.
Moral of the story, the time has come when no white person will be absolved.
We are here, we want the stolen land back.
No white person will be out here living their best life while we are out here, being a landless and dispossessed black mass.
No white person shall rest.
It is irrelevant whether you personally have land wealth or you don't.
The only thing that matters is that you are white.
And I am serious that they say they are Marxists.
I'll leave the link in the description to a video on my sort of shitposting channel about a chap in the Magic the Gathering community who owns a shop and is bringing in all of this social justice nonsense.
And it's cliché, it's exactly what we saw in Gamergate.
I left a comment for him saying, you don't even realise you're promoting Marxist principles, and he just shot back with, I have a PhD in sociology.
I am well aware that I am promoting Marxism.
But the thing is, these sorts of black Marxist ideologies are really taking root in South Africa.
Julius Malemma vows to seize white-owned lands.
Opposition politician promises no compensation and pledges to nationalise banks if his EFF party wins local polls.
Around 40,000 people turned up at the stadium on Saturday, displaying massive support for fiery EFF leader Julius Malemma's promises to seize white-owned land without compensation and nationalise the banks.
Now I actually don't really have much of a problem with nationalisation of banks, but simply taking land from people and redistributing it to other people I do have a problem with.
It's entirely arbitrary and has no moral foundation.
If you're about to do to me exactly the thing you're complaining about me doing, fuck yourself.
Your standards will be no higher than mine and so if you're trying to take something from me by force, I am morally obligated to resist you.
Not just my own sake but for my family's sake.
So you simply demanding land isn't the answer.
However, maybe educating the white people paying for these people to be educated and raised out of poverty in a sort of homogenous way.
That does seem to be a good answer.
I mean it certainly works.
We have an excellent example of this in the racist student in the cafe taking a big shift on the white waitress.
The huge turnout was a shot across the bowels of the ANC, which failed to fill a similar stadium during the launch of its own manifesto in the coastal city of East London two weeks ago.
We are not chasing the whites away.
We are saying you have too much land.
We want you here in South Africa, but 80% of the land belongs to us, Malma told the crowd.
This is in no way liberal.
So if anyone says yeah, but they're left-wing, they're liberals, you are wrong.
The idea of wealth distribution and planned economies is anti-liberal.
Anyone who advocates for this is not a liberal.
Malemma, clad in the EFF signature red overalls and beret, made many promises from free land, water and electricity for the poor to flushing toilets in all homes as he campaigned ahead of the municipal elections in August.
We want black communities to be like white communities, he told the enthusiastic crowd.
And that's interesting because there is only one way to do that, and that is to raise people in a liberal society.
If you remember a few weeks ago, I did a lot on Zimbabwe, and this is the reason that simply appropriating land is a bad idea.
The black people are not white farmers.
Modern farming is not simply tilling the earth.
It requires a specific set of skills that take decades to learn and put into practice, and we know this because of Zimbabwe.
As soon as they appropriated the farms, the country fell in famine and hyperinflation, and they are now returning land to the white farmers.
I would really advise South Africans to look at the situation and think, is this actually the solution, or is educating our people at the white people's expense no less? and empowering them to build their own lives and careers the better option.
And the thing is this is really popular, it's really spreading.
Less than a year after the founding of the EFF, it won more than a million votes and took 25 seats in parliament, becoming the third largest party behind the other two.
Just, that is shocking speed.
Now, I don't have a direct causal link between Marxism in American and British universities and what's going on in South Africa, but we know that at least one person involved in this is a Marxist who is educated as such at a British university.
So I think that's enough to at least investigate the situation, because if it is true our universities are having a major effect on third world nations, then shouldn't we be at least aware that we are giving them a failed ideology?
There is nothing about this that isn't going to end in purges.
I mean, that's literally what they're asking for.
Blood will be spilt over this.
Heads will roll.
People will get poorer and starve.
This is something we can be 100% certain of, if historical trends in the recent past are anything to go by.
If you go to marxism.com, I mean, they think this is a South African revolution.
One of the most important moments during the Assembly was when leader Julius Melema committed the party to socialism.
Socialism does not do away with personal non-exploitative property.
Socialism does away with private property owned by individuals and used to make a profit such as factories and banks.
Socialism to us primarily means we should collectively develop the productive forces and make sure that all people have equal access to economic sustainability and have basic needs.
Apart from the people you will be dispossessing when you take their land.
And if past Communist Party activities are anything to go by, this is probably going to herald the end of democracy in South Africa.
Because this is what happens under collectivism.
Collectivism ends democracies.
I mean do you really think that after say five years of rule these guys are going to hold another election and it might be the Liberal Party who's like no all the land's going to be returned?
Do you think that they're ever going to do that?
If arbitrarily taking land from people is a legitimate political platform to run on then someone else will do it to you.
And this nonsense that it's okay to do this, that it's okay to treat all white people as part of a class is coming from social justice courses at university.
I don't think it's a coincidence that Aquabe was a law student at Oxford and now Oxford law students are too fragile to hear about violent crime, undergraduates giving trigger warnings before traumatic material.
So pretty standard issue SJW bollocks then that they even say has been imported from America.
And the thing is, even the professors are like this, this female professor, Professor Hoyano, said, we can't remove sexual offences from the criminal law syllabus, obviously, but if you're going to study law, you have to deal with things that are difficult.
Why the fuck does she have to explain to people that you can't remove sexual offences from the criminal law syllabus?
That's ridiculous.
They don't really seem to know what's going on.
This seems to be foisted on them from above.
And an unnamed spokesman from Oxford just came out and parroted the party line.
There may be occasions when the lecturer feels it's appropriate to advise students, yeah, we understand.
Trigger warnings, we know what they are.
And of course the warnings extend beyond Oxford's law department.
One undergraduate studying English was given a trigger warning about Robert Lowell's poem for the Union Dead, because it contains a racial epithet, the horror.
Sociologist Professor Frank Fioridi said, trigger warnings diminish the quality of intellectual freedom on campuses.
And he is of course right, we've seen this time and time again.
So I went to the Oxford University website and went to the Faculty of Law and had a search for social justice.
And this was the first thing that came up.
A call for papers, oppositional energies, social justice, protest and oppositional politics.
Bringing together these voices, the conference aims to explore political and social frameworks, origins, impacts and struggles of collective movements that address areas such as social welfare and protection, anti-austerity, gender, race and class equalities, environmentalism, LBGTI rights, who knows what I is, reparations, workers' rights, social policy, education, human rights and migration.
I think that would be worthy of investigation at least, don't you?
And remember, all of this happened in one week.
This is happening so quickly.
I mean, also this week, the Oregon State University will force incoming students to take, quote, social justice training.
Students will complete online modules in social justice learning, diversity and inclusivity.
This training initiative is intended to provide all students entering Oregon State University an orientation to concepts of diversity, inclusion and social justice and help empower all OSU students to contribute to an inclusive university community.
What a terrifyingly Orwellian way of saying that they are going to train young people not to tolerate dissent.
That was a bunch of university-age Bernie Sanders supporting SJWs at a Trump rally chanting fuck-free speech.
The links in the description, you can go talk to the guy who took that video.
But I know what you might be thinking if you are like some hardcore doubter of all of this.
Like, no, no, no, none of this is in any way any kind of pattern or connection of dots that might be worth even just investigating.
And even if it is, fuck it, we've still got STEM.
STEM is unbreachable.
It's defended by the pristine walls of science.
And so yes, it is.
For now.
But when there are calls to make STEM courses, quote, less competitive to be, quote, more inclusive of women, and you are teaching every student how to be inclusive, because that is the most important thing, not whether they are competitive or not, you will lower your standards to fit your ideology.
And with enough noisy activists, it will look like popular acclaim.
And make no mistake, these ideologues have been trying to make inroads into the natural sciences for decades.
This, Hand, Brain, and Heart, a feminist epistemology for natural sciences, was written in 1983.
What about the importance of feminist critique for contemporary cell biology?
Written in 2008.
You think that's got a lot of academic value?
I mean, biology is not seen merely as a privileged oppressor of women, but as a co-victim of masculinist social assumptions.
We see feminist critique as one of the normative controls that any scientist must perform whenever analyzing data.
What about baby steps towards feminist physics?
In the exploration of some possible forays in feminist physics, I take ideas from feminist philosophers of science and feminist science studies scholars about what feminist science should look like.
I look at the work of feminist scientists in the fields as role models.
Using guidelines, I develop nine categories of projects that are feminist or potentially feminist.
Listen to this.
My feminist training has taught me that science is a socially constructed artifact of human culture.
My scientific training has taught me that science is an empirically based and theoretically constructed description of the natural world.
It's important to understand both sides of this picture.
No, it's not.
One side is wrong and one side is right.
But to see that physics is a socially constructed project that is strongly constrained, though not determined, by the natural world.
Physics is not determined by the universe.
What about mapping the homosexual, a queer materialism?
A paper that has brought us such novel concepts like queering the American hobo or coining the term hobosexual.
And in the meantime, also this week, Long Island's first science-focused high school is closing.
Because not enough people went.
There are too many people doing liberal arts, I guess.
And the thing is, these changes are happening so fast, I don't think that like actual liberals, normal people who consider themselves to be liberals, are keeping track and know what's going on, and soon they're going to find themselves in a world with institutionalized racial and sexual discrimination.
So they need to start finding political expression soon, and in a way that is designed to counteract this new strain of Marxist thought.
And I just want people to remember that it's not wrong to defeat your political enemies.
And they have made this political.
They've made all of this political.
Everything they think and do is political.
And so we have to fight it on a political level.
I'm reminded of a passage in Plutarch's Life of Alcibiades, where the Athenian politician Alcibiades is helping a town, and someone says to the townfolk, you realise if you do what he's saying, then Athens will eventually swallow you up.
And Alcibiades simply replies with, that may be so, but it will be little by little and starting with the feet.
Whereas the Lacedaemonians, the Spartans, will begin at the head and devour you all at once.
And I think that this is what exemplifies the difference between people's thoughts of the left and the right in the modern West at the moment.
People are so afraid of the rise of the right, because they will begin at the head and devour the whole nation at once.
But they don't seem to understand that the Marxist left are beginning at the feet and eating us little by little.
