Hello everyone, so I've often had requests from people to narrate books.
People have suggested it to me for ages and I thought well, why not?
And so I've created a new channel that I've called Ancient Recitations in which I will be reading ancient texts and presenting them in hopefully a nice complete manner.
These texts will be unabridged and I will be doing them probably once a month because depending on the length of the text really.
The first one I've done is the Epic of Gilgamesh, which was an absolutely thrilling story.
I didn't realize it's been so long since I've read it that I've completely forgot just how emotive it is.
It's also a buddy story.
It's about an ancient king called Gilgamesh who goes on adventures with his brother Enkidu and ends up losing him.
And he then goes on a quest for immortality while racked by grief for his dead friend.
It's very moving.
I'll be doing the complete Sargon legend afterwards and I'll be going through various historical texts as I find them.
It won't just be ancient Mesopotamian.
They'll definitely be ancient Greek, ancient Roman, medieval texts.
There'll be basically anything that catches my fancy.
I'll probably be trying to keep them short-ish, at least to start with.
But I mean, if it becomes popular, I could spend the time doing longer texts like the Iliad, which I think is around 200,000 words.
So, I mean, that'd take quite a long time to read, but if people really wanted it, you know.
But anyway, yeah, so if you're interested in that sort of stuff, please check it out.
I'll probably end up moving the history stuff over to there anyway.
just because I think it makes more sense to kind of streamline this main channel as being an argumentative channel.
So it's, there was, I've had some requests from people saying, oh, you know, can we just have a channel for This Week in Stupid?
Now, I don't particularly want to do that.
But I think in the same vein as This Week in Stupid, I could do my videos where I'm making arguments or mocking people on this channel and move my more sort of neutral historical informational videos to the other channel, which is what I've done with Vevictus, my gaming channel, because they're just, you know, they're just kind of cluttering up the place, I think.
And that way, people who want one or the other can go to them, and if you want both, you can subscribe to both, can't you?
So, hopefully, it's a solution that fits everyone.
And so, yeah, if you're interested in this sort of thing, please head on over and I hope you enjoy me narrating things.
I'm not a professional of this.
It's the first time I've done it, but I expect that I'll get better as I go along.
And I think I did a reasonable job.
I really hope it did.
Let me know what you think.
And I will speak to you all later.
Just so you know, it's not going to affect the uploads for this channel at all.
I'm still going to carry on with this channel as it is.
I'll be making the same sort of videos that I normally make for this channel, so nothing in that regard is going to change.
