Speed on what happened today. | |
| Jose, it was a shortened day inside of this courthouse, namely because one juror had a dentist appointment and Passover led the court to already determine that it was going to have an earlier afternoon, but those four hours inside of the courtroom did not lack tension. | ||
| And what you heard in opening statements from the prosecution was the intent to tell a story. | ||
| Beginning in August of 2015, two months after Donald Trump announced his presidency, when David Pecker, the National Enquirer publisher, met at Trump Tower with Michael Cohen and Donald Trump for the purposes of finding stories that may eventually come out before the 2016 election. | ||
| Salacious ones, like the ones of Stormy Daniels, purchased those stories and ensured their silence and that they never got to the public before the 2016 election. | ||
| And then in 2017, Donald Trump knowingly was reimbursing Michael Cohen for that $130,000 payment to Stormy Daniels. | ||
| Now, the prosecution made it clear they're going to have a litany of witnesses from Stormy Daniels to Michael Cohen himself. | ||
| David Pecker, he took the stand for just over 30 minutes. | ||
| He is expected on the stand tomorrow. | ||
| On the other hand, the defense, they laid it out in a much different way. | ||
| They starting off right at the top with a declaration that Donald Trump committed no crime. | ||
| And you may hear salacious stories from the likes of Michael Cohen. | ||
| and Stormy Daniels, who Donald Trump's defense made clear that you should question the credibility of, but they instead, they focused on what the actual charges against Donald Trump are. | ||
| And they were the falsification of business records and Donald Trump's attorneys making it clear to the jury that Donald Trump did not commit a crime and that this was an issue over a business ledger and that Donald Trump, in fact, as the ledger shows, was just paying Michael Cohen, not to reimburse Stormy Daniels, but for legal services. | ||
| All of this will lead to tomorrow when David Pecker is expected to take a stake to stand But notably, also the gag order hearing tomorrow morning, in which the prosecution has asked the judge to punish Donald Trump for violating the gag order. | ||
| And notably, when Donald Trump left the courthouse today, what did he do? | ||
| He attacked one of the witnesses, Michael Cohen. | ||
| But this will ultimately come down to the determination of Judge Mershawn over whether Donald Trump actually violated the gag order and any consequences that may follow, Jose. | ||

| They've taken these bookkeeping misdemeanors at best that are time barred and came up with a convoluted legal theory, probably driven by Matthew Colangelo, to charge Trump, the first president in our history, to get charged, and they timed it for the presidential election. | ||
| So Trump is stuck in a courtroom defending against 34 felony cases, felony counts against him. | ||
| He's stuck in the courtroom for the next two months. | ||
| You have this Soros-funded Manhattan DA teaming up, Alvin Bragg teaming up with this Biden senior political appointee, Matthew Colangelo. | ||
| You have this Democrat Manhattan judge, Juan Merchant, who donated to Biden in 2011. | ||

| These Democrat prosecutors and Democrat judges have turned the Constitution on its head by illegally gagging a criminal defendant. | ||
| If Trump is somehow threatening witnesses or threatening jurors or threatening the judge, The prosecutor can bring obstruction of justice or witness tampering charges. | ||
| Putting an illegal gag order on a criminal defendant is clearly unconstitutional. | ||
