We have an update today about China's efforts to spy against the United States using Cuba as a spy base. | |
| For years, according to a White House official, that does not preclude initial reports that China is ramping up its spying capability with a new contract with Havana, which is cash-poor because of the American embargo and the fact that the Soviets left decades ago, leaving a vacuum for China to fill. | ||
| Secretary of State Antony Blinken talked about U.S. efforts to respond to China's spying campaign from Cuba just moments ago. | ||
| The strategy begins with diplomacy. | ||
| We've engaged governments that are considering hosting PRC bases at high levels. | ||
| We've exchanged information with them. | ||
| Our experts assess that our diplomatic efforts have slowed down this effort by the PRC. It's something that we're very carefully monitoring and, as I said, taking steps to counter. | ||
| PRC being China, Dan DeLuce is joining me now, NBC News national security and global affairs reporter, who has been covering this story for the last couple of days. | ||
| Ever since the Wall Street Journal first broke it on Thursday, that a major contract was being discussed, and I've confirmed that reporting independently. | ||

| And then they said it was actually something that has been there for years, that there's been this electronic surveillance base for years, since 2019, that they inherited the problem. | ||

| And it's really interesting because it's similar to how they phrased the situation with the spy balloon. | ||
| When that all happened, they started saying, well, we inherited this problem as well, that the Chinese have been We've been flying these surveillance balloons for years prior to us coming into office. | ||
| And so they're opening themselves up to these accusations that they're somehow playing these things down because they very much want these talks to happen. | ||
| And Anthony Blinken, of course, scheduled to go to Beijing later this month. | ||

| The actions taken by the government against me were clearly intended to punish me for discovering illegal activity and the efforts by the Secretary of State to destroy evidence of that illegal activity. | ||

| This is so important, everybody, because it kind of backdoors the evidence that we have up on Frank's speech from the Mesa County image. | ||
| If everybody goes back, this goes back to the Gina Peters case in Colorado, where she took a forensic image, backed up her computers. | ||

| Everybody remembers back when December of 2019, what his presidency had manifested to that point, right before the China virus. | ||
| Everybody, the greatest consumer confidence in history, lowest unemployment, everything was physically getting better in our country. | ||
| And people remember that, and all people remember that. | ||
| And so I think, I look at the silver lining, you know, in everything, and I just think that we're gonna look back on these things and say, you know what, this thing tomorrow just solidified him being the candidate for the Republican Party. | ||
| If I was DeSantis, Or those people out there running, they should just endorse them and get it over with. | ||

| Why should DeSantis and the rest of the Keebler Elves, who are now all, I think he's at 20 % in the CBS poll, and the rest of them are all at 1%. | ||
