Well, yesterday was a day of ignominy for the United States Senate, Steve. | |
| We're on a straight party line vote. | ||
| The Democrats voted 50 to 50. | ||
| Every Republican voted against this atrocious bill. | ||
| It adds another $600 billion of spending. | ||
| and about that much in additional taxes. There's no question, Steve, that this bill will make Biden inflation worse. There's just no question about it. You know, we've already spent under Joe Biden $3.2 trillion, spending debt and of course, money printing. | ||
| And that is why we have 9% inflation today. So even the idea, we should be radically cutting government spending right now on these domestic programs, not raising them. The tax increases, obviously on American businesses, only play into the hands of our enemies. | ||
| I like to call this bill, Steve, I think you'll appreciate this, Putting America Last. | ||
| Now, let me say something about these IRS agents. | ||

| You saw recently that story that we're 40,000 short of recruits that we need for our armed forces. | ||
| The Army needs 40,000 new recruits over the next two years. | ||
| They're running short. | ||
| We need 5,000 more Border Patrol agents. | ||
| Don't you think maybe securing our national security and our border security would be a higher priority than hiring 87,000 new IRS agents? | ||
| Steve, has your analysis, independently, in the sources you pull together, is there anything that you can point to that would say that this really is anything that you've been able to see in your research? | ||
| That this has anything to do about inflation control, because the name, the Orwellian name of this bill is the Inflation Control Act. | ||
| Can you point to anything of this bill, this Keynesian bill, this orgy of spending that will lead to either a cessation or a drop in inflation, sir? | ||

| Where's really truth being spoken about this bill, brother? | ||

| Am I wrong here, but is everything, the cheerleading, the pom-poms, the misdirection, I mean, the real analysis of this is so small. | ||
| Steve Cortes. | ||
| No, correct. | ||
| And the doublespeak here, you know, reaches just absurd proportions. | ||
| It's almost like, you know, the most dictatorial countries in the world always call themselves the Democratic People's Republic of, you know, XYZ. | ||
| Calling this the Inflation Reduction Act is just an absolute absurdity if you look at the reality. | ||
| Steve Moore made a couple points that I'd like to expound upon. | ||
| The first one is that regarding energy, you know, look, this inflation that is crushing America, crushing the prosperity, crushing the spirits of regular Americans. | ||
| We have consumer confidence right now literally at an all-time low in surveys going back to the 1950s. | ||
| That inflation finds its genesis, its beginning, its headwater, unfortunately, in Biden's war on American energy. | ||
| That really is. | ||
| There's a lot of facets to this inflationary explosion, but that is the genesis of it. | ||
| That is the most critical component. | ||
| Biden, immediately upon taking office, declared war upon domestic, plentiful, dependable, affordable American energy. | ||
| And the consequences have been incredibly grave. | ||
| Well, that attack on American energy just got a boost. | ||
| It is going to be on steroids now with this Green New Deal as passed by the Democrats in Congress. | ||
| And then the second aspect, regarding the IRS and the targeting of the deplorables. | ||
| You know, nobody should be under any illusions out there. | ||
| We have seen just how cynically our opponents on the left use government power and weaponize it to attack us when they can't win at the ballot box. | ||
| So believe me, when the IRS becomes one of the biggest, most powerful, most well-funded agencies of the federal government, they are going to be cross-referencing with political lists, with political allegiances, and all of the people in this audience All of us are going to be extra targeted by the IRS. | ||
| That is a clear, clear goal of what happened. | ||
| So this was a despicable weekend. | ||
| By the way, thankfully, regarding business media, Steve, they continue to spin and sadly they prefer narrative over truth and journalism or any semblance of real storytelling or fact-finding. | ||
| But thankfully, I think the American people do see through this and as evidence of that, economist YouGov had a poll out before the week and before this atrocity was passed and they asked the American people if they thought that this bill was going to reduce inflation. | ||
| Only 12% said that they believed it would. | ||
| Only 12%. | ||
| So, I think the Democrats believe that they have acquired an argument, a persuasive piece of legislation for them to go out into November with. | ||
| I think the opposite is true if we propose the real solutions to solving the inflation crisis in this country and if we stay on message. | ||
| The two I's, inflation and immigration, these are the dominant issues that the American people care about. | ||
| These are the issues that are afflicting our country most acutely. | ||
| There's a lot of issues, but these are the crises that matter most. | ||
| Okay, the great Steve Cortez, we've got a Chalk Talk. | ||
| He's been ahead of basically every important element of the current economy and capital markets. | ||

| How are Americans coping with the inflation explosion under Joe Biden? | ||
| For far too many of our fellow citizens, it's via credit cards. | ||
| And that is a dangerous and ultimately unsustainable trend, particularly for those of modest means. | ||
| Let's look at some of the shocking new numbers that just came out in a Chalk Talk that is powered by Getter. | ||
| This information comes from the New York Fed. | ||
| In the second quarter just completed of this year, total credit card debt exploded by $46 billion. | ||
| That's the biggest increase in 20 years. | ||
| In total, 233 million new credit cards were acquired by Americans. | ||
| That's the highest total since 2009. | ||
| And this might be the worst part of all. | ||
| The balances for subprime lenders, those who have low credit scores, up 51% year over year. | ||
| So the most economically vulnerable among us are the ones who are piling on credit card debt because they simply can't handle this explosion in inflation. | ||

| No, seriously, you've got to help me out here because there's something deeply wrong. | ||
| If you think the political media is all narrative and everything like that, that's one thing. | ||
| Sure. | ||
| But this business maybe I'm telling you is losing. | ||
| I read 20 articles about this. | ||
| I kind of reached out to you. | ||
| You're the only guy to really do the analytics. | ||
| What is going on? | ||
| I know they're all English majors, but now they just become cheerleaders. | ||
| For the apparatus. | ||
| Am I wrong here? | ||

| It's propaganda, it's narrative uber alice, you know, overall. | ||
| They prioritize narrative at the expense of everything else. | ||
| There's also another factor here, though, that's not ideological, Steve, and that's just plain laziness, okay? | ||

| That is absolutely part of it, because to write this article, and I think it's an 800-word article, it's not terribly long, It took me hours and hours of research, all right? | ||
| And this is a topic that I am extremely well versed in. | ||
| But it's difficult to make sure that you have exactly the correct facts, that you cite them appropriately, that you present them effectively. | ||
| It's not easy. | ||
| So it's a lot easier to just spew the party line, to just act as effectively stenographers for the cathedral, for the regime, to act as PR agents for the Democratic Party and the White House, and just simply rely on effectively press releases. | ||
| That's what so much of corporate media does. So it's hard to do the work and I'm not trying to pat myself on the back. | ||
| This is the least we can do as patriots who are fighting for this country. But just to be specific here, you know, I will tell you I spent hours and hours on this article to make sure I knew the basics but to find out all of the specifics. For example, the subprime part. | ||
| To me, that is by far the most critical element of this. | ||
| And I give the citations in my article. | ||
| People can check all of my work. | ||
| I always link to everything. | ||
| Subprime is probably a term that Americans haven't heard very much in the last decade, since the 08 and 09 fiasco. | ||
| But guess what? | ||
| When it comes to subprime borrowers in the credit card market, Increasing their balances, Steve, 50% in a year, which is by far the largest expansion ever, okay? | ||
| Ever in all of history, even in 08 and 09. | ||
| That didn't happen. | ||
| That tells me that this country is in an incredibly dangerous position right now. | ||
| And corporate media wants to try to take one positive headline jobs number from last week and signal the all clear. | ||
| No, okay? | ||
| Not remotely. | ||
| First of all, there still is no net new job creation. | ||
| The economy is simply recovering jobs that had been lost because of the lockdowns and the CCP virus. | ||
| That's a good thing, okay? | ||
| And I'm not trying to pour cold water on it. | ||
| It's a good thing to get those jobs back, but there's not net new job creation. | ||
| And when we look at the forward-looking indicators, Steve, and this is what's so important. | ||
| When we look at the forward-looking indicators, All of them point to an economy that is decelerating, and that deceleration is intensifying. | ||
| In other words, we're going downhill, and we're starting to go downhill at a more rapid pace. | ||
| We're going into the ditch. | ||
| So listen, let's show some of the charts that show that. | ||
| Let's look at forward-looking indicators. | ||
| This is job openings in the United States, and this is very critical. | ||
| Job openings in the United States. | ||
| We just got that news out last week. | ||
| It was surprisingly low. | ||
| It missed expectations by about a quarter million jobs. | ||
| And as you can see on that chart, Joe Biden inherited tremendous momentum from Donald Trump. | ||
| There was upward momentum in job openings. | ||
| It has now crested and turned over. | ||
| And the total there of job openings is down over a million from the peaks of this spring. | ||
| Over a million. | ||
| That is really, really critical, Steve. | ||
| If we look at those kind of forward-looking indicators another one if we can go to chart three Is continuing claims or it might be chart two but continuing claims if we can go to jobless claims, please Yes, so this is jobless claims. | ||

| So jobless claims Okay These are folks who are actually applying for government assistance for unemployment and that chart goes back to the early summer as you can see that is a demonstrable Lower left to upper right trend, jobless claims are increasing dramatically in this economy right now. | ||
| Again, that is forward-looking. | ||
| All the other forward-looking indicators that we've talked about, I showed last week, as a matter of fact, on your show. | ||
| New orders for factories for manufacturing, consumer confidence, as I mentioned. | ||
| All of the small business optimism, housing, all of the indicators point to an economy that is worsening. | ||
| And the point I want to make here, Steve, the new point, because of the new data, is that how are Americans coping with this? | ||
| They're coping with it primarily through credit cards. | ||
| Steve, that's incredibly dangerous. | ||
| It's unsustainable. | ||
| It is a tinderbox, particularly in an era where the Fed is raising interest rates, as they should, but they're raising interest rates. | ||
| And that chart shows total consumer credits since Biden was elected. | ||
| Steve, I'm telling you, we are on a nice edge right now. | ||
| And I'm going to say again what I said last week, because I think it's important. | ||
| Not only are we in a recession, We're in a very deep recession, and we are a policy mistake or two, and we may have gotten that this weekend, from tipping all the way into a depression. | ||
| Because regular Americans, especially middle and lower income folks, Steve, they are in a financial corner. | ||
| The credit card data prove it. | ||
| They have no wiggle room right now. | ||
| Zero. | ||
| They simply can't handle this inflation, and this is a dire economic situation. | ||
| What I'm so proud about is that your analysis, I think it was four months ago, about the incomes actually going down versus inflation. | ||
| You said, hey, people are starting to rely upon their credit cards to make ends meet, and now the data's come out. | ||
| The headline from this, Steve, we've got to bounce, but the headline from this is Cortez, is the real economy, as Cortez and Barak continue to focus on in Navarro, is that it's decelerating at an accelerating rate. | ||
| We are one or two policy decisions away, ladies and gentlemen, from having, not being able to pull this back, and I mean taking a decade to unwind it. | ||

| We are in very perilous times when it comes to our economy right now. | ||

| They need to get articles that you promote, that I promote and write out to that audience. | ||
| You can be your own self-styled publisher and get the message out. | ||

| If you're in a blue state that hasn't reformed its election laws like Arizona and Georgia and Texas has, make sure that you or your friends sign up, not just to be election observers, but to actually work on the polls, work on election day to make sure that the process is humming along. | ||
| And actually, there's a practical need for this. | ||
| The average poll worker in America is over the age of 70 now. | ||
| A lot of them are dropping out. | ||
| We should also promote that having some high school and college students giving them college or high school credit if they work at the polls and give them training at first. | ||
| But the thing that they have to understand is that the best way to stop voter shenanigans and voter fraud is before the election, not at the day of the election or after. | ||
| That was a fundamental mistake that Jared Kushner made in the White House when he was pretty much directing the Trump campaign in 2020. | ||
| He was warned that the COVID restrictions that were being imposed My blue state governors and unelected health bureaucrats were going to lead to a tsunami of mail-in ballots that wouldn't get proper voter verification standards. | ||
| And he was briefed on that. | ||
| And frankly, he was busy with something else. | ||
| Maybe it was the Abraham Accords or whatever, but they dropped the ball and the Trump campaign didn't have the time, the resources, the energy, or the proper lawyers to pursue that after the election. | ||

| A lot of them that I know that came out of addiction and everything else, and we were going the right direction, and along came Ilan Omar, and what's happened to Minnesota I'll tell you what, Minnesota being tip of the spear, Steve. | ||
| The whole country talks about me almost every day, except for Minnesota. | ||
| They keep me completely out of the news there. | ||
| And they do that for a reason. | ||
| They don't want to see... It's a different kind of a takeover, so to speak, with the Elon Omars. | ||
