[00:03:17]  And when we left off with Kent, he had started preaching a new gospel that Christians are immune to taxes if they just claim to be ministers and anyone can be a minister.
[00:03:27]  Now, this is not how the law works.
[00:03:30]  Partially, this is how the law works, right?
[00:03:32]  Churches get away with a lot of tax bullshit.
[00:03:34]  They shouldn't, right?
[00:03:35]  But there are things you have to do.
[00:03:37]  You can't just say there's paperwork.
[00:03:40]  And like, they aren't immune to taxes.
[00:03:42]  For example, church payrolls still have to pay income tax, right?
[00:03:46]  You can't just walk outside and say, I'm a church.
[00:03:48]  I'm a church.
[00:03:49]  It's not that simple.
[00:03:50]  Yeah.
[00:03:51]  Now, in a letter, Kent wrote outlining his beliefs for fans of his 15 and a half hour lecture series on taxes.
[00:03:58]  He marks the source of his break with the federal government as income taxes, which are communist.
[00:04:04]  Quote: People occasionally ask me what I mean when I say in seminar part five of my creation seminar series that income tax and social security are voluntary.
[00:04:12]  I only intended to point out the connection between evolution and communism.
[00:04:16]  Everything Karl Marx, the father of communism, proposed in his 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto was deliberately anti-God and anti-Bible.
[00:04:24]  Since the graduated income tax was plank number two, the subject inevitably came up.
[00:04:30]  The income tax system is one of the main ways to destroy a country and bring it under communism.
[00:04:34]  I don't really know how we got here.
[00:04:36]  I'll tell you, Molly.
[00:04:37]  So the idea that there's 10 planks by which communists destroy a society so they can take over is a common conservative bugbear to the present day.
[00:04:45]  You can find people talking about the 10 planks of communism all over the place.
[00:04:48]  What they are actually referring to is chapter two of the Communist Manifesto, which Kent did get right.
[00:04:54]  It was written in 1848, right?
[00:04:56]  The chapter is titled Proletarians and Communists.
[00:04:58]  And Marx does not lay out 10 planks by which communists can take over a society, but he does describe the ways in which the revolution of the working class will, in his eyes, progress to raise the proletariat to the ruling class and win what he describes as the battle of democracy.
[00:05:14]  Marx states that he believes that in most advanced countries, a victorious proletariat will engage in a number of activities, like abolition of property and land and a heavy progressive income tax, which is number two on a list of activities he thought would be generally applicable.
[00:05:30]  So, number one, this is different from what Kent's saying.
[00:05:32]  He's not saying this is how we destroy a society.
[00:05:33]  He's saying that in advanced societies, when the proletariat wins the battle of democracy, they're going to do a number of things.
[00:05:40]  And one of those things is a progressive income tax, right?
[00:05:42]  To try and reduce income inequality, disparity in wealth, right?
[00:05:46]  Karl Marx wants to take your dino land.
[00:05:47]  Yes, that's a bit different from what Hovind and these other guys claim is happening.
[00:05:51]  It's also for people like to talk about Marx like he was some evil mastermind.
[00:05:56]  He was like a journalist and a theory nerd who spent a lot of time.
[00:06:00]  Well, I think these kind of things might happen.
[00:06:02]  Like he wouldn't write the same things he wrote then today because he would be looking at a different world, right?
[00:06:08]  Like he was kind of in their stuff, he was wrong about in terms of predicting the ways in which he thought society would progress.
[00:06:15]  It didn't, like, obviously it didn't happen that way, right?
[00:06:18]  Marx would not have been like, oh, everything I thought was wrong.
[00:06:20]  He'd be like, well, yeah, you know, you can't predict the future.
[00:06:23]  You know, I was just laying out what I saw best based on my understanding of the world at the time.
[00:06:28]  Anyway, I also don't think he's wrong that if we were to ever have the proletariat take charge in the battle of democracy, we should have a heavy progressive income tax.
[00:06:37]  We should just have that in general.
[00:06:38]  It's a good idea.
[00:06:39]  Carl would have said that Kent should pay his taxes.
[00:06:41]  Carl would have said Kent should be paying taxes on the millions of dollars he's making in dinosaur merchandise.

[00:06:54]  Anyway, Hovind, though, insists that FDR, who is, of course, a communist, forced income tax unconstitutionally upon us.
[00:07:03]  And so, as a result, Hovind resists the temptation to obey tax law and writes, I am not afraid of the IRS.
[00:07:09]  I know the truth and have been set free.
[00:07:12]  Oh, you should be kidding me.
[00:07:13]  You should be.
[00:07:13]  You should be afraid of that.
[00:07:14]  That's the number one thing you shouldn't say.
[00:07:16]  And for the record, I'm very scared of the IRS.
[00:07:19]  I'm terrified.
[00:07:20]  I pay my taxes.
[00:07:22]  Oh, my God.
[00:07:24]  They send you a letter.
[00:07:25]  Like, if you log into your account online, they send you a letter in the mail to be like, did you log in online?
[00:07:29]  Was this you?
[00:07:30]  And look, that's fair enough.
[00:07:32]  But I get the email ahead of time about like what mail I'm getting.
[00:07:35]  And so I get this email that, like, oh, no.
[00:07:36]  Oh, the IRS is sending its taxes.
[00:07:38]  Why is the IRS sending me a, like, am I, am I going to be able to do that?
[00:07:41]  Oh, God, what did I do wrong?
[00:07:42]  Are you coming after me?
[00:07:44]  Did I accidentally misplace a decimal point and lie about a deduction?
[00:07:48]  Like, I was so careful.
[00:07:50]  Yeah.
[00:07:51]  No.
[00:07:51]  And this is like, again, this is the difference between somebody who claims to resist this, like hate the state, but does so based on like nonsense and somebody who hates the state, but also understands the reality of the state, which is like.
[00:08:06]  That's part of why I hate it.

[00:08:07]  I'm going to try not to go to prison for tax shit.
[00:08:10]  I'm going to pay my taxes and do my best to abide by the law because that's not a fight I want.

[00:08:19]  Well, because you can't keep fighting if you're in jail for taxes.
[00:08:22]  No, no, you have to be, you have to pick your battles.
[00:08:25]  It's a big thing, government.
[00:08:27]  Like I'll focus on like, I don't know, trying to make the police less heavily armed.
[00:08:35]  God told me I don't have to do this paperwork.
[00:08:37]  So, and Kent does, again, the thing you're not supposed to do, which he's, he has all these quotes where he's like, if the IRS really, you know, if the IRS actually has the ability to arrest me, they can come and do it.
[00:08:49]  And they're about to.
[00:08:51]  They will do it.
[00:08:52]  They will.
[00:08:52]  For a surprise.
[00:08:54]  They're like, oh, really?
[00:08:55]  Oh, really?
[00:08:57]  That's the equivalent of like, what are you going to do?
[00:08:59]  Stab me, guy.
[00:09:00]  Or they'll never hit us from over here, guy.
[00:09:03]  But I think what a lot of people who are doing tax fraud don't realize is they don't come after you year one or year two.
[00:09:10]  They wait.
[00:09:10]  They wait until they have a very target coming after you for shoplifting.
[00:09:15]  Exactly.
[00:09:15]  They wait till you hit the felony level.
[00:09:17]  Yeah, exactly.
[00:09:18]  So for a surprisingly long time, Kent and his wife were able to sail by on this bullshit without getting clapped in irons.
[00:09:24]  But eventually the man came for them.
[00:09:26]  And in 2006, Kent was charged with 58 tax-related crimes, including two counts of willful failure to withhold federal income tax from employee wages and 45 counts of structuring transactions to evade reporting requirements.
[00:09:40]  He's doing shit like every time he withdraws money, he'll withdraw $9,500 to keep it under the $10,000 limit that he thinks the government can't pay attention to small.
[00:09:49]  I don't know, man.
[00:09:50]  If you have $1,9,500 withdrawals, what that says to the IRS is, well, this guy's trying not to get on our radar, which means he's breaking some law.
[00:09:59]  Like the teller that would normally have you fill out the cash transaction record form, which is the form you fill out if you're making a withdrawal or a deposit of $10,000 or more, just because you're putting it in a $9,500, like she's saying something to the manager.
[00:10:12]  That's getting written down.
[00:10:14]  And if, you know, you can do that.
[00:10:16]  I've had to do, like when I went to Syria, I think I took seven or eight grand out because like it costs a lot of money to pay fixers and there's not cash machines over there.
[00:10:23]  But if you do it 10 times, but I did it once a hundred times.
[00:10:28]  It's not structuring to do it once.
[00:10:30]  Yeah.
[00:10:31]  Yeah.
[00:10:31]  It's that's what that's what they're talking about here.
[00:10:35]  Now, with any of these guys, it's always a little bit of a mystery.
[00:10:38]  How much of this bullshit is them like believing this shit?
[00:10:41]  And how much are they just trying to get away with not paying taxes and they have to hold the lie?
[00:10:46]  Because what else are they going to do?
[00:10:47]  We'll call him a little column.
[00:10:49]  I think so generally.
[00:10:51]  Whatever the case, Kent does the dumbest thing possible when he gets arraigned eventually for this in 2006.
[00:10:58]  And he tells a U.S. magistrate, I still don't understand what I'm being charged for and who is charging me.
[00:11:04]  Now, one thing I'll say about our federal government is that like, I don't think any, that's ever a valid complaint because even if the charges are bullshit, it's always very clear who is charging you and what the charges are.
[00:11:16]  You get that on a piece of paper, right?
[00:11:18]  Right.
[00:11:18]  He had an attorney at this point who would explain that to him.
[00:11:21]  This is not one of the shortcomings, in my opinion, of the justice system.
[00:11:25]  And Kent was adequately informed of what he had done wrong.
[00:11:27]  There had been years of communication with the IRS prior to this, right?
[00:11:32]  That's not usually a surprise when you get charged with 58 tax corpses.
[00:11:36]  Right, right.
[00:11:36]  Like you're sent you a legal.
[00:11:37]  I'm really shocked.
[00:11:38]  Yeah.
[00:11:39]  Kent's brain, I think, just kind of shuts down when they read out these charges because in his personal head canon of the Constitution, none of this should be possible, right?
[00:11:47]  Yeah.
[00:11:48]  The court case winds on for about a year or a lot of that year, 2006, and Kent tries to delay it.
[00:11:53]  He files frivolous lawsuits against the IRS for criminal trespass, which eventually earns him a charge for impeding an IRS investigation.
[00:12:01]  Later that year, his dinosaur park gets shut down for refusing to get a building permit.
[00:12:08]  I do not contract with the zoning administrator.
[00:12:11]  Yeah, yeah, I don't need to.
[00:12:13]  I found in his article on Rational Wiki, which is the best repository of all of the Kent Hovind lore.
[00:12:21]  They write, quote, Hovind claims that his decision to build without permits from the county is based on the Bible, questioning, does the Iscambia County, Florida civil government have jurisdiction over a church of the sovereign God of the universe?
[00:12:32]  Yes, they do.
[00:12:33]  The Escambia County Clerk would say that when it comes to making a Bible park, yes.
[00:12:39]  Like, who's inspecting this roller coaster?
[00:12:41]  Okay.
[00:12:41]  Yeah.
[00:12:42]  During a hearing, Hovind was marked by the local county commissioner with the response that scripture also says render unto Caesar what Caesar demands.
[00:12:49]  And right now, Caesar demands a building permit.
[00:12:51]  And that's not a bad response.
[00:12:53]  That's so good.
[00:12:58]  I mean, that is, I will say, people talk a lot, what would Jesus Christ say?
[00:13:02]  I think if he came back and a guy was like, look, we just need him to get a permit before he lets children onto rides, Jesus would be like, well, yeah, okay.
[00:13:11]  That seems reasonable.
[00:13:13]  Especially since, again, he's going to kill a seven-year-old later on in this episode.
[00:13:18]  Oh, no.
[00:13:19]  Don't worry.
[00:13:19]  It's on his next park.
[00:13:21]  So that same year, he gets charged by the tax court for failing to pay income tax.
[00:13:26]  As you can imagine, he doesn't respond well to this.
[00:13:28]  And once things go to court, it all goes disastrously for Kent.
[00:13:32]  He is convicted of all of the tax fraud and held in jail while he awaits sentencing.
[00:13:36]  One local paper reports that he ran up eight hours of calls per week during the time he was in jail, which I think is meant to make him sound like a crazy person, but that actually sounds reasonable to me.
[00:13:46]  It's like an hour a day.
[00:13:47]  He's got a lot of people.
[00:13:47]  It's like an hour a day.
[00:13:48]  I think they're kind of being unfair to Kent here.
[00:13:50]  That's a pretty, seems like a pretty normal amount of time to want to be on the phone when you're lost.
[00:13:53]  Three kids, a wife, and a lawyer.
[00:13:55]  Right, right, right.
[00:13:56]  Like, I'm not, I don't think that's actually an unreasonable amount.
[00:13:59]  On the other hand, during sentencing, he threatened the judge and prosecutor, claiming their case against him was illegal and he was going to make their lives miserable in revenge, which again, not a great call.
[00:14:08]  Oh, they love that.
[00:14:09]  Yeah, they love being threatened.
[00:14:10]  Judges love that.
[00:14:11]  Judges, that's every judge's favorite thing is being personally threatened by a defendant.
[00:14:16]  Surprise he didn't catch a new charge for that.
[00:14:18]  Yeah.
[00:14:19]  Well, he had a lot going on.
[00:14:21]  In 2007, he gets sentenced to 10 years in prison and is sent to a federal prison camp, or it's just called federal prison camp in Pensacola.
[00:14:29]  That's a scary name, but this is actually a minimum security facility.
[00:14:32]  At least it's close to home.
[00:14:33]  Yeah, it's close to his friends and family, like within kind of our carceral system.
[00:14:37]  He does not get the harshest kind of thing he could get.
[00:14:40]  No, he's in tax jail.
[00:14:42]  He's in tax jail.
[00:14:42]  He does serve his time.
[00:14:43]  He does about nine years, and he definitely did the crime.
[00:14:47]  But this was not to be the end of the Kent Hoven story, just the beginning, or at least like up to the middle part.
[00:14:53]  While he was locked up, the government put liens on a bunch of property he purchased with his untaxed creationist gains.
[00:14:59]  His wife served two years and then divorced him.
[00:15:01]  Kent fought the government from prison, retaining a lawyer named Glenn Stoll.
[00:15:06]  And of course, Glenn is as much a lawyer as I am.
[00:15:08]  He was actually affiliated with a Christian cult called the Embassy of Heaven.
[00:15:13]  Yeah.
[00:15:13]  Oh, yeah.
[00:15:14]  No, Molly, of course.
[00:15:15]  There's so many fun little cults in the Kent story.
[00:15:20]  I'm sorry.
[00:15:20]  I'm inside the consulate.
[00:15:21]  The IRS cannot get me.
[00:15:23]  Yeah, that is basically what they're doing, right?
[00:15:25]  Is they're like, as the Embassy of Heaven, we could hand out stuff like driver's licenses and passports and you don't have to obey the real government.
[00:15:33]  They're, of course, based in Oregon.
[00:15:36]  They're the leader of the Embassy of Heaven, the founder, is a former computer systems analyst who calls himself Paul Revere.
[00:15:44]  Yes.
[00:15:45]  Yeah, I'm there.
[00:15:46]  It's so dude.
[00:15:47]  It's all the good shit right there, baby.
[00:15:50]  Now, because Glenn doesn't really know how the law works, none of his motions do anything, nor does an attempt in 2013 by Kent to use what's called a Bivens action to file a civil rights suit against the staff at his minimum security prison.
[00:16:03]  Kent believed that this would launch a chain of dominoes that would see his conviction overturned and himself freed, but a federal judge rejected his claims and threatened to hold him in contempt of court for continuing to file false bullshit.
[00:16:14]  In 2014, the year before he was set to be freed, Hovind was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of mail fraud and conspiracy to commit mail fraud.
[00:16:22]  In the Pensacola.
[00:16:23]  He's doing mail fraud from prison.
[00:16:26]  Oh, yeah.
[00:16:26]  Yeah, I think because of all of the discussions.
[00:16:29]  Yeah, it's a terrible idea.
[00:16:30]  But it's very funny.
[00:16:32]  This doesn't, again, is not many crimes.
[00:16:35]  And he, you know, nine years is not a slap on the wrist.
[00:16:37]  That's a serious sentence.
[00:16:38]  But given that he should have done more time, given the number of crimes, like anyone who is not a right-wing Christian is doing 20 years for all this shit.
[00:16:45]  Because that's a lot of money laundering.
[00:16:47]  Yeah, it's a lot of crime.
[00:16:49]  In an article for the Pensacola News Journal, Kevin Robinson wrote, quote, according to an October 21st federal indictment filed against Hovind and Paul John Hansen, a Nebraska man known for his vigorous opposition of government tax and property laws, the duo has been charged with mail fraud and criminal contempt for interfering with the sale of Pensacola properties Hovind was forced to forfeit as a result of the 2006 case.
[00:17:09]  The indictment says that in 2011, Hansen filed liens on nine of Hovind's forfeited properties on North Palafox Street, Cummings Road, and Oleander Drive.
[00:17:17]  In 2012, the government was granted an injunction ordering that neither Hoevind nor any agent acting on his behalf file or attempt to file any liens, notices, financing titles, and claims of whatever nature to cloud the title of the properties.
[00:17:28]  The following year, both Hovind and Hansen reportedly mailed additional documents disputing the ownership of the property.
[00:17:33]  So basically, he has to forfeit a bunch of properties because of the tax fraud.
[00:17:38]  And so he starts putting liens on the properties to stop the government from being able to like do anything with them, which is like fraud.
[00:17:44]  No, it does not.
[00:17:46]  And the court, so that injunction was just the court saying, like, fucking knock it off.
[00:17:50]  Yeah.
[00:17:50]  Just stop this shit.
[00:17:51]  Just knock it off.
[00:17:52]  And he couldn't knock it off.
[00:17:53]  He could knock it off.
[00:17:54]  And they still don't really punish him further for this.
[00:17:57]  Ultimately, Kent squeaks through this without additional sentencing, and he is a free man by 2015.
[00:18:03]  I think he spends like a year basically doing a parole sort of situation.
[00:18:06]  So he's like fully off the hook in 2016.
[00:18:08]  His first act after he gets out of prison is to create a YouTube channel.
[00:18:12]  Obviously.
[00:18:13]  Of course.
[00:18:14]  Pivot back to video, baby.
[00:18:15]  Oh, pivot right back to video.
[00:18:17]  It has like 200,000 followers at its peak.
[00:18:20]  It's since been removed and he is on Rumble now.
[00:18:23]  I'm sure you could see that one coming.
[00:18:27]  Rumble's the right place for him.
[00:18:29]  He is not as popular on Rumble.
[00:18:31]  Is he on banned.video?
[00:18:33]  I don't think he's on banned.video, but I didn't really look.
[00:18:36]  Kent's arguments by this point had evolved into what he humbly calls the Hovind theory, which argues that dinosaurs and humans lived together at one point.
[00:18:43]  During this Edenic period, even carnivorous dinosaurs were vegetarians, a trait they lost once Adam and Eve fell from grace.
[00:18:50]  Hovind has taken some flack from flat earthers who agree with aspects of his theory, but are angry that he is not a flat earther.
[00:18:58]  For his part, his theory includes the idea that God kept up a sort of vapor barrier to protect the earth until Adam and Eve were forced out of paradise.

=== Creationist Nonsense Explained (02:54) ===

[00:19:05]  When this happened, ice meteors hit the earth and shattered fragments from one meteor caused impact craters on the moon, right?
[00:19:12]  Now, that seems like a weird thing to need to explain.
[00:19:15]  Kent needs this sweaty explanation because one of the ways that we actually know the universe is old as fuck is that we can look at something like the moon and see all of these different impacts over time, right?
[00:19:24]  And you can kind of tell from that, it's part of how you can tell one of the things you can use to sort of tell how long it's been sitting up there, right?
[00:19:30]  Because you can see how often it gets impacted and be like, well, it's clearly been up there getting hit by shit for a long ass time, right?
[00:19:36]  So Kent needs a way to explain how all of those impact craters happened at the same time, like 100 years ago, right?
[00:19:43]  It's a little more than that.

[00:20:50]  These guys are all creationists, but there are creationists like Weiland for a long time would be like, Hovind is fraudulent because he's a bad creationist.

[00:21:06]  I don't think he really reads.
[00:21:08]  One Australian ministry split with their U.S. cousins over a debate on Hovind, and Ken Ham supported Hovind in that debate, by the way.
[00:21:16]  He's the guy with the good fake Bible dinosaur park.
[00:21:19]  Kent's new videos focused on the same stuff as his old mail order videos and lectures, arguing about evolution and evangelizing the kind of people who find that compelling.
[00:21:28]  He also continued throwing out challenges for debates to famous scientists and scientific writers like Dawkins and Stephen Jay Gould.
[00:21:35]  No one credible takes him up on this, but he's made a public offer of a quarter of a million dollars to anyone who could give empirical evidence for evolution.
[00:21:42]  As I noted last episode, his definition of evolution makes any kind of good faith response to this impossible.
[00:21:48]  He also notes that a panel of judges who he has never named or specified would be the ones to decide if a proof met his requirements.
[00:21:54]  It has become clear over the years that the only judge in this case is Kent.

[00:26:40]  An article on Kent in al.com, alabama.com, not long after he took possession of the property, this says this, quote, on a driving tour of the property, he explained that it used to be a gravel pit where sand, gravel, and clay were mined.
[00:26:53]  Because of that, huge sand dunes occupy much of the middle of the property.
[00:26:56]  It's a popular place for four-wheeling.
[00:26:58]  Part of the property is wooded and crisscrossed with dirt trails.
[00:27:01]  The main pond has a redneck water slide made from corrugated plastic tubing and a zipline from a sand dune on the shore to a lightpost stuck on a tiny island in the middle of the pond.
[00:27:10]  At any one time, Hovind says there are about 25 people living and working at Dinosaur Adventure Land.
[00:27:15]  We've probably had 1,200 people volunteer to come help us build things since they first started work on the park in 2016, he said.
[00:27:22]  People just call.
[00:27:23]  They say they love us.
[00:27:25]  That's the hallmark of a great nonprofit is basically slavery.
[00:27:30]  That's why God created the 501c3 is so that you could have slaves.
[00:27:34]  That's not legal.

[00:27:39]  Kent, what he's doing, he verges on a cult, right?

[00:28:15]  And this led him to invite in a man named Chris Jones.
[00:28:18]  And this is where the pedophile comes into the story, Molly.
[00:28:21]  Jones had an ugly record.
[00:28:24]  Oh, this is the fascinating story about whether or not he knew, Molly.
[00:28:30]  Jones had an ugly record by the time he started hanging out around DAL during the Trump years.
[00:28:34]  In 2001, he'd been working at a church watching a couple of young boys when he got in trouble, hitting a seven-year-old who was naked repeatedly on the butt.
[00:28:42]  He was convicted of battery for this.
[00:28:45]  In 2004, he started hanging out with a trio of children, ages 9, 11, and 12.
[00:28:50]  One night, he decided to play strip poker with them.
[00:28:53]  No!
[00:28:54]  Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:28:55]  Here's a court decision, a quote from a court decision on the matter.
[00:28:59]  Defendant produced a deck of cards and explained the game to the boys.
[00:29:01]  He dealt the cards, told the boys who won or lost each hand, and directed the losers to take off some clothes.
[00:29:06]  The boys did as instructed.
[00:29:08]  Alex M remembered he and Anthony M stripped down to their underwear.
[00:29:11]  Anthony M remembered only himself getting naked.
[00:29:13]  E.G. remembered the other two boys stripped him naked and took off their own shirts.
[00:29:17]  There's a lot more there.
[00:29:18]  It's a lot worse.
[00:29:19]  I'm not going to read it all.
[00:29:21]  You get the picture, right?
[00:29:22]  Jones is.
[00:29:22]  It's honestly just not fair.

[00:29:30]  Jones was convicted of three charges of lewd acts on children.
[00:29:34]  And after this point, he starts hanging out at DAL.
[00:29:38]  Now, you might think maybe old Kent didn't know about his past, right?
[00:29:41]  This guy shows up.
[00:29:42]  Kent's not doing background checks on these people, these volunteer cult members, right?
[00:29:47]  Of course not.
[00:29:48]  But he's not gonna.
[00:29:49]  But he's not doing that.
[00:29:50]  The Lord will handle it.
[00:29:52]  Yeah, that's Kent's attitude.
[00:29:53]  And we know he actually becomes aware of this because of a guy named Billy Summers.
[00:29:58]  Billy lives in South Carolina, kind of near where Jones lives, and he visits DAL in 2017.
[00:30:04]  Kent, unprompted, tells him, Oh, we've got a guy who comes and volunteers here, and he lives near where you live.
[00:30:10]  And he gives the guy's name, and Billy gets in contact with that guy.
[00:30:14]  And basically, Kent, unprompted, tells him, also, he's a convicted child sex offender, right?
[00:30:19]  So Kent tells Billy that, but then it's like, so he did know.
[00:30:22]  He did know.
[00:30:23]  Yeah.
[00:30:23]  But he's like, don't worry, the charges are bullshit.
[00:30:25]  They're politically motivated.
[00:30:27]  Right.
[00:30:27]  And then he goes on to argue, Jones didn't even do anything bad.
[00:30:31]  He was just playing strip poker with several children.
[00:30:34]  Since when is that illegal?
[00:30:36]  Oh, so he's not saying it didn't happen.
[00:30:38]  He's just saying it did happen, but like it's fine.
[00:30:41]  Summers recalls Hovind says to him, Jones stopped at their underwear, so he did nothing wrong.
[00:30:47]  I don't think that's good.
[00:30:49]  That's really bad, right?
[00:30:51]  I deeply hate all these people.
[00:30:53]  They all fucking suck.
[00:30:54]  Yeah.
[00:30:55]  And this guy, this guy was like operating the jumposaur or whatever.

[00:30:59]  I don't know what exactly he's doing, but he's quote unquote volunteering.
[00:31:03]  He's volunteering.
[00:31:04]  He has informed Hovind.
[00:31:05]  And Hovind, unprompted, is like, yeah, he's technically a child sex offender, but it's bullshit.
[00:31:10]  He just some strip poker with the boys, you know, the literal boys, like the actual boys.
[00:31:16]  Boys, boys.
[00:31:17]  Very good boys.
[00:31:20]  Oh, no.
[00:31:21]  Summers is, I presume, a guy with some presumably pretty intense religious beliefs.
[00:31:27]  Otherwise, why would he be here?
[00:31:28]  But he was not so cooked that he was willing to listen to Kent's pedophile apologism and move on.
[00:31:34]  So he goes, to his credit, he goes home.
[00:31:36]  He calls Kent to talk about Jones and so he can record the call and get a recording of him being like, yeah, I know this guy's a pedophile, right?
[00:31:44]  He eventually puts this up online.
[00:31:47]  It becomes a whole thing in the community.
[00:31:48]  And the Daily Beast, who reviewed a copy of the call, describes what happened next.
[00:31:52]  Jones got a job at Bohemian.
[00:31:54]  And this is him talking to Hovind.
[00:31:56]  Jones got a job at Bohemian Grove.
[00:31:57]  That's where they make all their plans for the New World Order, Hovind says on the recording.
[00:32:01]  He got a job there and videotaped a bunch of stuff and they wanted him in prison.
[00:32:06]  That's why they arrested him for that bullshit strip poker charge.
[00:32:11]  It was the New World Order trying to stop him from getting out the truth.
[00:32:16]  That's not even a good lie.
[00:32:19]  That's a genre of guy.
[00:32:21]  There's this dude who started out as an anti-Iraq war guy, which is at least a reasonable point and is now just a like Bashar al-Assad, never did anything wrong, yada yada nonsense dude who Scott Ritter, who is a pedophile, like has been convicted of repeatedly trying to fuck kids.

[00:33:23]  You know, you give it, it's nice to know that they're even within these weird communities of like dinosaur adventure land volunteers, there's people who are like, this seems wrong.

[00:33:35]  I believe that a child could write a triceratops, but a child should not be playing strip poker with a grown man.
[00:33:40]  Right.
[00:33:41]  It's like, at least there's a line for you, people, some of you people, right?
[00:33:44]  Hovind calls Summers after he puts this video up and demands the video be removed.
[00:33:49]  Jones eventually gets into contact directly with Summers.
[00:33:53]  And Jones tells Summers that, like, yeah, it was the New World Order that got me arrested.
[00:33:57]  My conviction was bullshit.
[00:33:59]  It's always happening.
[00:34:00]  He admits, he calls it a technical crime.
[00:34:02]  And this is how he describes, this is the bullshit technicality they got me on.
[00:34:07]  It was throwing an 11-year-old boy in the pool in his underwear.
[00:34:10]  That's my big sex crime.
[00:34:12]  Even if I am guilty, hopefully the blood of Christ works.
[00:34:15]  At least you're not questioning that.

[00:34:56]  And to their credit, again, a lot of them don't feel good about this pedophile having free access to the property.

[00:35:04]  It's bad for a lot of things.
[00:35:07]  In 2019, said pedophile visits again, and Hovind complained to his secretary that people were freaking out about it.
[00:35:13]  A number of folks did leave.
[00:35:15]  And this segment from that Daily Beast article makes it very clear why people were unsatisfied with Hovind's answers about Jones.
[00:35:22]  Asked about Jones, Hovind told the Daily Beast that Jones had done nothing wrong, either in his criminal case or at DAL.
[00:35:27]  He's come here to visit twice, I think.
[00:35:29]  Never spends the night, Hovind said.
[00:35:31]  But Jones did spend the night near DAL during the November 2019 visit.
[00:35:35]  Oh, that's right.
[00:35:36]  Hovind recalled when reminded of the incident.
[00:35:38]  They did spend one night here.
[00:35:40]  They were Jones and a young boy whose name was Daily.
[00:35:43]  Yeah, yeah, 11 years old.
[00:35:47]  Did he just go LOL oops?
[00:35:49]  Yeah, LOL oops.
[00:35:51]  Like, oh, yeah, okay.
[00:35:51]  They did.
[00:35:52]  There was that one time they stayed here, right?
[00:35:54]  One time.
[00:35:54]  Oh, and it was his, what, what kind of makes this an issue is that there's this lady shunk who is his like secretary, basically, and she greets this pedophile and this boy on arrival.
[00:36:05]  And Jones is white and the 11-year-old boy is black.
[00:36:08]  And so she's not his son.
[00:36:09]  Well, they don't look like they're related, you know?
[00:36:11]  Not that it's impossible for them to have been related, but like they don't look related.

[00:36:18]  And also, he probably wouldn't have custody of his own kids.
[00:36:21]  Yeah, it does seem like there's a lot that seems wrong with this.
[00:36:24]  Hovind's assistant tries to, okay, well, you're staying here.
[00:36:27]  Let me get you two separate bedrooms, right?
[00:36:29]  Hoind intervenes personally to put them in a cabin on a neighboring property that DAL has access to.
[00:36:35]  The only bed in the cabin is a queen-size mattress.
[00:36:39]  His former assistant claims Hovind specifically wanted Jones and the 11-year-old to share the bed.
[00:36:45]  When confronted on this, Hovind insisted the child was emotionally unstable and just needed to sleep with Jones because he was scared.
[00:36:52]  He told the Daily Beast, Chris is not a pedophile, if that's what you or anyone else is driving at.
[00:36:58]  That's what I'm driving at.
[00:36:59]  Yes, I am.
[00:37:00]  I'm driving directly into it.
[00:37:02]  It seems like there's a lot of evidence that he's a pedophile.
[00:37:05]  Like, maybe the boy's emotionally disturbed because he's being trafficked by this pedophile.
[00:37:09]  And by the way, Daily Beast gets in charge with his mom, who, you know, you get the feeling she makes some mistakes.

[00:43:33]  In March of 2020, a family with five young children came to visit DAL.
[00:43:37]  The property, as we noted, featured a good deal of money.
[00:43:40]  Every time you give a date, I'm like, I'm like, wait, because this is way too recent.
[00:43:44]  This is way like too recent.
[00:43:46]  I was like, literally, because the last four years, the maths, not math thing.
[00:43:50]  It's a blur.
[00:43:51]  But when you first started showing us videos, I was like, all right, this is an older video.
[00:43:58]  It's like, this is now.
[00:44:00]  Yeah, this is now.
[00:44:02]  Yeah, I mean, this spoiler, this guy's like family go, the last thing they do before COVID is go lose one of their kids at Dinosaur Adventure Land.
[00:44:13]  God, what a, what a fucked-up year.
[00:44:17]  So the property features a good-sized pond, which Hovind is quick to note they often use for baptisms.
[00:44:23]  Something went wrong while they were playing, and one of the little boys, a seven-year-old, started drowning.
[00:44:27]  Several adults rushed in and they pulled this kid out, but in the chaos, another seven-year-old boy goes under.
[00:44:33]  The child is rushed to the hospital where they are pronounced dead.
[00:44:37]  Now, in every detailed article that you will find on DAL, Kent makes it clear he does not hold any insurance on the property.
[00:44:44]  And anyone who comes there is taking their lives into their own hands.
[00:44:47]  Fucked choice.
[00:44:48]  I will say this is the kind of tragedy that could have happened anywhere, right?
[00:44:53]  I went to a lot of swimming holes as a kid that are just out in the middle of nowhere.
[00:44:56]  Like, shit goes down sometimes.
[00:44:58]  This would be.
[00:44:59]  This isn't a swimming hole.
[00:45:00]  This is a theme park.
[00:45:02]  It's not really a theme park.
[00:45:04]  Like, there should be a lifeguard or a house.

[00:45:25]  So his secretary claims that he goes to the hospital with the family who is in the process of losing their seven-year-old boy.

[00:45:34]  They sure would.
[00:45:35]  But rather than provide focus on providing comfort to these parents, he sees the experience as an opportunity to advertise for his dinosaur park.
[00:45:44]  Quote, and this is from his secretary.
[00:45:46]  The dinosaur park the child just died at?
[00:45:48]  Yes.
[00:45:49]  Because they already know about it.
[00:45:51]  And I don't think they're coming back.

[00:45:58]  Kent Hovind is walking around the hospital, passing out ministry cards saying, come to Dinosaur Adventureland.

[00:46:06]  And I'm like, Dr. Hovind, you're supposed to be sitting with the father having sympathy for him.

[00:47:01]  So when questioned about this by the Daily Beast, Hovind replied, Yes, I probably did that.

[00:47:08]  They're actually gospel tracts.

[00:47:13]  I'm an evangelist.
[00:47:14]  He goes on to say that.

[00:47:18]  He goes on to say, the father of the dead boy holds no grudge and loves our ministry.
[00:47:23]  In fact, he even paid to build a gazebo on the land to honor his dead son.

[00:47:31]  There's so many.

[00:47:53]  Kent eventually acquired an 80-foot-tall dinosaur statue, the largest in the state of Arkansas.

=== Red Flags in Kent's Life (11:12) ===

[00:49:45]  So I think this park is less of a park and more of a tax dodge for Kent, who seems to spend most of his time there entrancing new female volunteers, marrying them, and then revealing himself to be an abusive prick in very short order.
[00:49:57]  He has done this at least three times so far after his first wife.
[00:50:01]  Sometimes I've heard allegations that he drains financial assets from them first.
[00:50:06]  His second wife, Mary Taco, met TO CCO, met him in 2016 after, in her words, raising her five kids on his videos.
[00:50:15]  So Mary may not have great judgment.
[00:50:17]  She reached out to Kent at some point and spent six months communicating with him online.
[00:50:22]  After this time, she traveled to DAL and they got married, which lasted less than a year.
[00:50:27]  In a Facebook post, she explained that the split had started when she realized the finances of DAL were not, quote, above board.
[00:50:34]  Given Kent's past, I assume this means he's back to committing tax fraud and probably stealing donor money to fund his lifestyle.
[00:50:40]  When she brought her concerns to the DAL board, which she claims Kent controls, she was pushed off.
[00:50:46]  Sydney Lincoln, his third wife, claims that she also met him through his videos, which she saw while she was teaching preschoolers for what I certainly hope was some sort of Bible school.
[00:50:55]  In 2016, when she finished his video series, she moved to DAL in a tent and wound up married a matter of days afterwards, I think.
[00:51:04]  By early 2020, around the time that little boy died, she had started to see what she described as huge red flags.
[00:51:11]  Oh, really?
[00:51:12]  Oh, really, girl?
[00:51:13]  You started, you saw one.
[00:51:14]  You saw the flag?
[00:51:15]  The pedophile might have been a big one.
[00:51:18]  The tax fraud, honestly, might have been one.
[00:51:20]  There's a lot of red flags in Kent's life.
[00:51:22]  He's mostly red flags.
[00:51:23]  I just feel like everybody needs that one friend that's like, hey, girl.

[00:51:29]  Don't marry the dinosaur man whose best friend is a pedophile.

[00:51:39]  And by the end of the year, he had graduated to physical abuse, body slamming Lincoln badly enough that she had to go to the ER and received a protective order against him.
[00:51:48]  Hovind himself was recording audio of this moment.
[00:51:51]  I think he thought that the audio, he claims it's because the audio makes it clear that Lincoln's bipolar.
[00:51:56]  And like, I don't know if she is or not.
[00:51:59]  If you're not a lawyer, it's a classic move, right?
[00:52:01]  It's illegal to beat your partner, even if they are bipolar.
[00:52:04]  This is just so crazy.
[00:52:05]  You're not allowed to body slam someone because they have a mental illness.
[00:52:09]  That's not in the law books.

[00:52:14]  In 2021, and again, I don't know that she, I'm not saying she is.

[00:52:21]  In 2021, he was convicted of domestic violence.
[00:52:24]  His second wife actually testified in Cindy's defense and claimed in court that she had seen Kent body slam a 13-year-old boy.
[00:52:35]  She wrote on Facebook later, several of us watched in horror as he attacked this young boy like he went insane.
[00:52:41]  It was very scary.
[00:52:42]  If there weren't laughing, but like, well, that's such a wild thing to do.
[00:52:46]  Once again, if there's several of you around and there's one dude attacking one young boy, several of you.
[00:52:52]  Can we stop him from body slamming that kid?
[00:52:54]  Several of you could do a thing.
[00:52:57]  I think action could have been taken against Kent at an earlier point than this, perhaps.
[00:53:02]  There are a lot of sort of forked paths here.

[00:53:24]  This person committed suicide in 2022, and Hovind has denied that any such trust exists.
[00:53:30]  It remains unclear to me the precise nature of Kent's marital status.
[00:53:33]  Based on claims he's made publicly, he is now on his fourth wife in roughly five years.
[00:53:39]  Tucco, who seems to be the most activist of his ex-wives, published an open letter to his fourth wife on Facebook and claimed he is legally married to Cindy and possibly me still.
[00:53:49]  That is a felony charge.
[00:53:50]  And I am wondering.
[00:53:54]  I don't want to be mean to you because he sounds like you've been through a lot, but how are you not sure?
[00:53:59]  This is actually, I have looked into this.
[00:54:02]  This is more common than people realize where they think they are divorced.
[00:54:06]  Maybe they filed for divorce, but they just sort of lost track of it.
[00:54:09]  And when you get married, it's honor system, baby.
[00:54:12]  When you fill out that paperwork, you check a box and say, yeah, I promise I'm not still married to anybody else.

[00:55:07]  Yeah, this is not like the least punishment I've heard of for something like this.
[00:55:11]  And the whole thing went down while he was in the process of filing a lawsuit against the federal government for his 2006 conviction.
[00:55:17]  An analysis in Forbes notes, it was based on the theory that the federal government did not have jurisdiction over Kent Hovind, along with 76% more or less of what we consider the United States.
[00:55:27]  He was seeking damages for a conviction that had been upheld on appeal to the 11th circuit.
[00:55:31]  To get damages for an unlawful conviction, you have to show that it was, you know, unlawful.
[00:55:36]  The appeal was ultimately dismissed due to the fact that Kent couldn't get his shit together to file it on time.
[00:55:41]  So that's good.
[00:55:42]  Classic.
[00:55:43]  Tell me where he's getting this 76% number.
[00:55:45]  So, like, what are the 24% of people who are subject to the jurisdiction of the public?
