[00:02:06] Right, it wouldn't be that. === Sigma Male Behavior Explained (16:14) === [00:02:07] There's a lot of life. [00:02:25] I can't go back now. [00:02:26] It's probably a terrible mistake. [00:02:28] Here to make a terrible mistake. [00:02:30] We're starting three podcasts. [00:02:33] I have started at least three podcasts just with atonal screeching. [00:02:37] Robert, we're at like six. [00:02:39] Yeah, it's a lot. [00:02:40] Yeah. [00:02:41] It's a lot. [00:02:42] It's a lot. [00:02:43] Jamie Loftus. [00:02:44] How are you doing today? [00:02:45] Welcome to Behind the Bastards podcast. [00:02:47] Thanks. [00:02:48] Bad people. [00:02:49] Talk about them. [00:02:50] You're doing great. [00:02:51] You know, after the last episode, I think I've reached a low-simmering numbness, which I intend to spin in my favor. [00:03:02] Numbness is really my only goal here. [00:03:04] I don't want to make people better. [00:03:06] I just want to make them numb. [00:03:07] I'm also simmering, but that's just because my apartment is ungodly hot. [00:03:13] Very hot. [00:03:14] Pretty, though. [00:03:15] It's very hot. [00:03:15] You know what else is hot? [00:03:16] Plants live. [00:03:18] Are you going to bring up the knife again? [00:03:19] This is a new one. [00:03:20] Peacocking. [00:03:21] We're married. [00:03:22] We haven't hit a minute. [00:03:23] Look at that. [00:03:25] Curtis Holland. [00:03:26] Very nice knives. [00:03:28] Nope. [00:03:29] Jamie. [00:03:30] Yeah. [00:03:30] Jamie. [00:03:31] Yes. [00:03:32] I'm just going to gesture with this knife. [00:03:34] I hope you break your computer. [00:03:37] It would be worth it because at least I'd be holding a knife, Jamie. [00:03:41] Speaking of holding a knife, you know what's holding a knife to all of our collective throats? [00:03:46] Misogyny. [00:03:48] Misogyny. [00:03:49] And capitalism. [00:03:51] A lot of knives on our collective throats. [00:03:54] Jamie, we talked about the manosphere, which was really just groundwork. [00:03:59] I wanted to talk about the Sigma Male. [00:04:02] Now, I mentioned that thread that Lily put up in the first episode. [00:04:08] It kind of started me down this path, deciding we need to do a Manosphere episode because the Sigma Male stuff is also ridiculous. [00:04:14] And in that post of theirs was a book called The Sigma Male. [00:04:18] There's actually more than one that had a man in a suit with a sword on it. [00:04:23] Now, that's called The Sigma Male, What Women Want. [00:04:27] Wow, like the Mel Gibson movie? [00:04:30] What? [00:04:31] That's a movie? [00:04:32] Yeah. [00:04:32] Women want. [00:04:33] Oh, no, yes, yes, yes. [00:04:35] What women want the movie, but not the Sigma Male, the movie? [00:04:37] Yes. [00:04:38] No, no. [00:04:38] Although I'm sure Mel Gibson would be down to participate in that as well. [00:04:43] It's so that book was written by Dr. John T. Alexander, who builds himself as a relationship expert. [00:04:52] And he authored the book The Sigma Male and also maintains the Tumblr, sigmamale.tumbler.com. [00:04:58] Want to guess what kind of doctor John Alexander, the relationship expert, is? [00:05:04] Gotta be psychiatry or, you know, something sociology. [00:05:08] No, I'm gonna say he's a podiatrist. [00:05:10] He's a plastic surgeon. [00:05:12] No! [00:05:15] Okay, that's funny. [00:05:17] That's funny. [00:05:18] But I wait until I find out more about his views. [00:05:20] Then I'm very funny. [00:05:22] His book is not available on Kindle. [00:05:24] It's only in text and it's sold out. [00:05:26] So we have to go to his Tumblr. [00:05:28] We will be getting into a book, but his Tumblr gives us some ideas about it. [00:05:32] I'm there. [00:05:33] Whoa, there's a pop-up. [00:05:34] There's a pop. [00:05:35] Okay, there's a pop-up that says, the destructive effects of self-pity. [00:05:40] Self-pity is easily the most destructive of the non-pharmaceutical narcotics. [00:05:44] It is addictive, gives momentary pleasure, and separates the victim from reality. [00:05:49] Don't be a victim. [00:05:51] Sigmamale.com. [00:05:53] Amazing. [00:05:54] Yeah. [00:05:55] My favorite post on there is, Where are all the strong men? [00:05:58] And it's he's he's critiquing at length a commercial for the Navy. [00:06:03] I'm not reading that Tumblr. [00:06:04] Oh, no. [00:06:05] You're going to, we're, we're going right into this. [00:06:08] Fuck this. [00:06:08] He's critiquing at length a commercial for the Navy Federal Credit Union. [00:06:13] Yes, I'm looking at that right now. [00:06:15] What is she smiling about? [00:06:17] It's not a strong man. [00:06:19] And it's, it's another one of these commercials, right? [00:06:21] We've seen this in commercials and in like a bunch of every sitcom. [00:06:25] Like it's a commercial where like some male soldier has done something dumb and a female soldier is dealing with the problem, right? [00:06:31] Like it's the basis of like half of every sitcom episode and the entirety of everybody loves Raymond, right? [00:06:37] We all know we all know this this. [00:06:39] This trope is old as time. [00:06:41] Yeah. [00:06:44] Our plastic surgeon friend is very angry about this. [00:06:48] I've written extensively about this modern trend in advertising. [00:06:52] So what else can I say? [00:06:53] We'll answer this question. [00:06:54] What would happen if the same ad aired with the roles reversed? [00:06:57] Imagine Campbell looking fit in his sharp military gear, talking about the failings of some inept dumpy woman. [00:07:02] Guest who'd get left in the garage after that commercial? [00:07:05] Feminist outrage? [00:07:06] You'd better believe it. [00:07:08] I hate this. [00:07:08] It's all very funny. [00:07:09] I hate this so much already. [00:07:10] I'm like already doing this like holding myself position. [00:07:15] Among other things, like, yeah, it's kind of a tired trope. [00:07:18] You know what else is a tired trope? [00:07:19] The male action movie hero who saves the woman in distress who has no agency other than to be a victim. [00:07:26] That is still roughly 40% of Hollywood's gross influence. [00:07:30] Yeah. [00:07:30] And they're mostly stories written by men. [00:07:36] This Tumblr kind of reminds me of, have you ever been on like those male inspiration like Instagram pages? [00:07:43] Yes. [00:07:43] That it's, it's like called like success.tips, but they're all joker memes being like, if my wife was dead, I would have health insurance. [00:07:53] Like just truly, that's a direct quote. [00:07:56] No, I'm kidding. [00:07:57] Like those, those success tip. [00:07:59] I don't know. [00:07:59] There's, I feel like there is a little bit of this mentality that has mutated over the years. [00:08:04] And now they don't go strictly under misogynist names. [00:08:07] Sometimes they're like, we don't want to kill women. [00:08:10] We just want success. [00:08:12] Yeah. [00:08:12] And you're like, it's the whole, you get the gamut from the men's liberation to the men's rights to the MGTOW to the. [00:08:20] Stop doing this. [00:08:22] What? [00:08:23] I feel like you're trying to hypnotize us. [00:08:25] You're like waving your knife back and forth. [00:08:27] Waving a knife. [00:08:28] It's my symbol of masculinity. [00:08:30] Stop it. [00:08:30] Sophie. [00:08:31] Yeah. [00:08:31] Yeah. [00:08:32] Well, fuck, fuck that shit and stop it. [00:08:34] Stop it. [00:08:35] Are you a that's not sigma? [00:08:37] I mean, or maybe that is sigma behavior. [00:08:39] What is sigma behavior besides? [00:08:43] What do you do in that one movie where he does nothing but shoot people? [00:08:49] I mean, I'm sure he used a knife at some point. [00:08:51] He had to have stabbed at least a couple of them. [00:08:53] I mean, I don't, I still haven't seen a John Wick. [00:08:56] I haven't. [00:08:57] And that's my truth. [00:08:59] It's not Keanu's best movie. [00:09:01] A John Wick. [00:09:03] A John Wick. [00:09:04] I did not know there was more than one. [00:09:06] The plural is John's Wick. [00:09:12] So John, this, this shitty Dr. John Alexander's Sigma Male blog is pretty, pretty dumb, but it's also like, it's not really hardcore manosphere stuff. [00:09:24] Like one of the, like it's, it's bad relationship advice. [00:09:27] One of them is not always even all that bad. [00:09:29] Like one of them, one of them is, are you ignoring your spouse's small dragons where he talks about like men not taking the dragons are like difficulties in your life and men don't take women's problems seriously and like you should take your spouse's problems seriously, which is like not like not bad advice. [00:09:46] That's not super toxic. [00:09:47] It's framed in a in a dumb way, but it's not like, yeah, you shouldn't be shitty when somebody else is having a problem. [00:09:54] He also invokes the name of Bill Cosby on the first page. [00:09:58] He sure does. [00:09:58] He sure does invoke Bill Cosby. [00:10:01] And does not invoke the fact that Cosby is a serial rapist. [00:10:05] No, no, no. [00:10:06] I mean, not, that would not be Sigma behavior to hold other men accountable for their crimes. [00:10:11] But I do, it does kind of look a little like misogynist leaning. [00:10:19] Men are from Mars, women are from Venus, like super, super binary thinking. [00:10:23] Is it kind of along those lines? [00:10:26] Yeah, I mean, that's what it seems like. [00:10:28] And it's pretty boring and honestly, not all that offensive, which was why it's not what we're going to read today, Jamie. [00:10:37] I have picked, thankfully, I found another book about Sigma males. [00:10:40] I know you were worried there for a second. [00:10:42] For just a moment there, you were like, are we not going to get the hot sigma action that I crave? [00:10:46] Don't worry about it. [00:10:48] I mean, yeah, this Tumblr doesn't want me dead. [00:10:50] It just wants me yelled at. [00:10:52] Yeah. [00:10:52] I need more. [00:10:53] Yeah, you need more. [00:10:54] You need the Sigma Male Codex rules for the Sigma Male by Daniel Jones. [00:11:01] And Jamie, I'm going to ask you to Google just the words the Sigma Male Codex so you can get that cover because I need you to see the cover. [00:11:08] Codex. [00:11:09] I want to be on whatever list that comes up. [00:11:12] Okay. [00:11:13] The Sigma Male God. [00:11:15] Of course, it's all caps too. [00:11:17] The Sigma Male Codex. [00:11:19] Okay. [00:11:19] Is this the Are we talking about? [00:11:22] I'm saying, oh, there's a wolf. [00:11:23] There's two versions. [00:11:25] There's two. [00:11:26] I see two versions. [00:11:27] Both are like Twilight set adjacent. [00:11:31] They do kind of look like Twilight posters. [00:11:33] And those two versions, there's a sequel, of course. [00:11:35] He couldn't, you couldn't, you can't possibly say everything that needs to be said about the Sigma male in one codex. [00:11:40] I mean, Jesus. [00:11:41] I mean, a single codex is never going to do. [00:11:44] Wow, they really do have like Team Jacob imagery on the front of the Sigma male coach. [00:11:49] Just a couple of wolves. [00:11:51] Wow. [00:11:52] Which is also funny because the Sigma male is supposed to be the loner, but you have two wolves on there. [00:11:56] Anyway, so many questions. [00:11:58] You're overthinking it. [00:11:59] Oh, oh, Jamie. [00:12:01] I just pulled right into, oh, this isn't very long. [00:12:04] We could get through this whole book. [00:12:05] We might just read the whole damn thing. [00:12:09] I just opened to the introduction. [00:12:10] And Jamie, I'm just going to start reading. [00:12:12] Okay. [00:12:13] Okay, good. [00:12:13] Yes, yes, yes. [00:12:15] If you are reading this, then this, if you are reading this, then it means that you are very intelligent and in search of knowledge. [00:12:22] And if you are reading this and you are not in search of knowledge, you will have it by the time you are done. [00:12:27] That's one sentence. [00:12:28] Congratulations, King. [00:12:30] You can read. [00:12:32] Now get ready for your life to fucking change. [00:12:35] So I know what you are saying. [00:12:38] And he uses quotations here wrong. [00:12:42] He has the first quotation mark at the end of saying and then a space with the actual quote that's supposed to be in quotations. [00:12:48] No proofreading went into this. [00:12:50] So I know what you are saying. [00:12:52] What exactly is a sigma male? [00:12:54] That was what I was saying. [00:12:55] That is what you were saying. [00:12:57] Well, the sigma male by definition is a man who does not think or act like everyone else, where the alpha male always wants to be seen. [00:13:04] The sigma male keeps a low profile as not to draw attention to himself. [00:13:09] Also, the sigma male is the most valued prize amongst women because unlike the alpha male, the sigma male makes no effort to chase women. [00:13:16] Rather, he catches women with his intellect. [00:13:18] One sentence. [00:13:20] So are you telling me that the sigma male is not like the other boys? [00:13:28] I'm not like the other boys. [00:13:29] I can't write a sentence. [00:13:31] But I catch women with my intellect. [00:13:36] Women are drawn to me by my inability to use periods or commas or semicolons. [00:13:41] It's like the opposite of Bishapiro. [00:13:43] God, I'm just shaking my fist at the song. [00:13:45] Oh, no. [00:13:46] The next sentence. [00:13:47] I am a Sigma male. [00:13:49] And it took me a long time to come to that realization. [00:13:51] I knew that an alpha male, because I had no desire to chase every woman that I saw. [00:13:55] And I knew that I wasn't a beta male because they don't believe that they can get a woman. [00:13:59] So I had to fall somewhere in between, which brought me to the concept of the sigma male. [00:14:03] It made perfect sense. [00:14:04] I am educated and quiet, and I am constantly analyzing everything around me. [00:14:08] I'm like every dude I want to do. [00:14:10] I'm a champion of the swift that was like, I'm an Eon F S J P Q R. Sorry. [00:14:16] If nothing else, this should convince you that you can, you too can get a book published on Amazon. [00:14:21] It takes literally nothing. [00:14:24] It takes nothing but sheer willpower and word count. [00:14:28] I mean, this is just 23 pages. [00:14:31] Are you serious? [00:14:32] Oh, yeah. [00:14:33] The Sigma Male Codex is not a long, not a long book. [00:14:36] Let's do this. [00:14:37] I'm so excited. [00:14:38] Oh, it's great. [00:14:40] It's great. [00:14:40] It became very apparent to me that because I was a Sigma male and my tolerance level, that my tolerance level for ignorance and foolishness was about as thin as pizza crust. [00:14:49] And then one day a light bulb went off in my head. [00:14:51] Why not write about my experience as a sigma male? [00:14:54] A code, if you will, and share it with others who may be sigma males. [00:14:57] And even if they are not, it can still be a useful tool in identifying a sigma male, which brings me to the sigma male codex, a list of codes and rules that govern the sigma male from the time he gets. [00:15:07] How many times is he going to say sigma male, Robert? [00:15:10] Are you able to do a word search up top to tell us how many times it's in there? [00:15:15] It only took a second to buffer. [00:15:17] Yeah. [00:15:18] Because the book's very short. [00:15:20] 265 matches. [00:15:22] No, yeah, 23 pages. [00:15:27] Oh. [00:15:29] I am. [00:15:31] I'm very lucky. [00:15:32] I don't live here anymore. [00:15:34] I just picked up Anderson because I needed emotional support. [00:15:40] I just went into labor and I'm not even pregnant. [00:15:44] Yeah, I think that by the time we're done reading this. [00:15:48] I'm going to give birth during this. [00:15:50] This is horrible. [00:15:51] I might become a virgin again. [00:15:53] I don't know how this book is going to affect me. [00:15:55] Spontaneous pregnancies for some re-virginization for others. [00:16:00] It's quite powerful. [00:16:01] I'm going to giggle so hard my hole's close. [00:16:04] This is so horrifying. [00:16:07] Jesus. [00:16:08] Oh, Jesus. [00:16:09] Okay. [00:16:10] When it's all laid out and done, I think you will find this to be a very interesting read indeed. [00:16:14] Never let anyone tell you that the Sigma male is not a high-valued prize. [00:16:18] Quite the opposite. [00:16:19] He is more valuable than a pot of gold. [00:16:20] And if this book is his Bible, then the Codex shall be his gospel. [00:16:24] Wait, what? [00:16:25] The book and the Codex are the same thing. [00:16:28] Wait. [00:16:28] Okay. [00:16:29] Horrible writing. [00:16:30] He's just not a good writer. [00:16:32] It's so bad that you can't really comprehend what he's trying to attempt at all. [00:16:36] I think we're going to have to look through this a bit, and then we're going to have to pull up that video where it talks about how Keanu reads as the Sigma male to really get a full understanding of the Sigma male. [00:16:45] Yeah, I think that that will really put things into sharp focus. [00:16:49] Finally. [00:16:50] Finally, we'll understand. [00:16:51] But first, he's listing the Codex numbers, which I don't think this guy knows what a Codex is. [00:16:55] Wait, is it really like a number? [00:16:58] Codex number one, Codex number two, Codex number three, Codex number four. [00:17:02] Yes, Jamie. [00:17:03] It's like national treasure. [00:17:04] He does not know what a Codex is. [00:17:06] That's exciting. [00:17:08] Codex number one. [00:17:09] The Sigma male. [00:17:10] So he just means a numbered list. [00:17:12] When he says codex, he means a number list. [00:17:14] But each of the numbers is a codex because he doesn't know that a codex is just like another word for book, basically. [00:17:20] I think that he has. [00:17:21] Like, I think he should bravely join me in not knowing what a codex is loud and proud. [00:17:27] The sigma male reads, which means he is obsessed with educating himself and gaining knowledge and wisdom. [00:17:32] There's no period at the end of that sentence because he doesn't, this guy doesn't read enough. [00:17:43] You know, this man takes pride in his writing, and that is the saddest thing. [00:17:47] There's no periods at the end of any of these sentences. [00:17:50] What is he? [00:17:52] What is ending it? [00:17:54] Nothing. [00:17:54] It just stops, and then it's the next codex number. [00:17:57] Well, maybe if you were a little more Sigma, he would, maybe it's like a, maybe it's like a whistle only a dog can hear. [00:18:05] It's a dog whistle. [00:18:06] It's a it's a man period. [00:18:09] It's a man period. [00:18:11] Only real sigmas can see a period. [00:18:14] I'm okay. [00:18:15] Anderson's looking at me like, it's okay, mom. [00:18:18] Anderson's got some strong sigma energy right now. [00:18:21] I'm okay. === The Sadness of Bad Writing (03:15) === [00:18:22] It's just, it's just a bad book. [00:18:24] Oh, boy. [00:18:25] Now I'm starting to feel bad for this guy. [00:18:27] I feel like a book like this could hurt anyone. [00:18:29] Because codex number two is, I don't know that this could, we may have, we may have erred in the wrong direction here. [00:18:34] This kid's seeming sadder and sadder to me the further we get. [00:18:37] Because codex number two is the sigma male is very quiet. [00:18:40] He is always analyzing and overanalyzing everything. [00:18:43] I think this is a neurotic young kid who ran into some weird MRA stuff online and is processing it in a very dumb way. [00:18:56] This is so, yeah, it's so, because it's like, yeah, there's a lot of quiet kids of every gender. [00:19:02] This doesn't justify the codex. [00:19:05] Codex number three is like how he, the sigma male deals with women differently from the alpha male because the alpha believes he has to chase every woman, but the sigma male understands that when you chase someone, it implies they are running from you. [00:19:16] And at the end of the day, the goal is to get the individual to run to you, which is like on a pathway towards a less toxic kind of thinking, even though it's not there. [00:19:28] Yeah. [00:19:28] Like this. [00:19:30] I like the parts where he's not chasing people. [00:19:33] Yeah. [00:19:34] I think that should be encouraged, is not chasing people around. [00:19:38] But getting angry at people for not running to you, I don't know. [00:19:43] The sigma male is the most powerful man in the room because he is the quietest man in the room. [00:19:48] No. [00:19:49] No, buddy. [00:19:50] When the sigma male... [00:19:52] I'm feeling bad for this kid now. [00:19:54] We may have to pick a different person. [00:19:57] I'm going to, let's roll to the end and see if we can find something out about him. [00:20:01] Nope. [00:20:02] What's the Jesus? [00:20:04] There are so many codexes. [00:20:07] There's 147 of these. [00:20:10] What? [00:20:11] Wait. [00:20:13] That's what I was trying to tell you. [00:20:14] Hold on. [00:20:16] This is a sad thing. [00:20:18] There's many. [00:20:18] This is very sad. [00:20:20] Jesus. [00:20:21] And should we take a quick little addie break while we try to find out? [00:20:25] Yeah, let's take an ad break. [00:20:26] Is there anything not sad? [00:20:28] Let's take an ad break and let's refocus here. [00:20:32] I have to look at, oh, dear God. [00:20:34] Okay, so I found this kid's author, Amazon author page. [00:20:37] Let's talk about that for just a second before we go to ads. [00:20:40] There's the Sigma Male Codex, Rules for the Sigma Male. [00:20:43] The Sigma Male Codex Volume 2, which I guess is just more numbered things that a Sigma male ought to do. [00:20:51] Then there's the Kemetic Codex, which the description is best-selling author Daniel Jones. [00:20:58] I don't think that's true. [00:20:59] With his controversial new book, The Kemetic. [00:21:02] Okay. [00:21:03] Written as a survival guide for melanated people worldwide. [00:21:06] This book explores the secret history of racism and its effects on black people. [00:21:11] Among the topics explored in the book are the origins of the word racism, the origins of the Ku Klux Klan, the origins of modern-day policing in the United States of America, the origins of gang violence in black communities, the origins of the Karens of the world, and the origins of Dracula. [00:21:25] Yes, you read that correctly. [00:21:26] Also, ooh, and there's a short story, Captain racial slur. [00:21:32] I don't know what's going on with this kid. [00:21:35] He spells Daniel wrong, first of all. === Second Thoughts on Mockery (04:34) === [00:21:37] Yeah, he sure does. [00:21:38] I'm also seeing that there's a writer named Danelle Jones. [00:21:41] Danelle, yeah, D-A-N-N-E-L-L? [00:21:44] D-A- No, just D-A-N-E-L-L. [00:21:47] But she pops up when you look up Daniel Jones, and it must suck to be her. [00:21:53] This is, this is, this is rough. [00:21:58] We're going to come back from ads and we're going to regroup because I'm starting to have second thoughts about this kid's mocking this kid's work because I think there might be some real pain going on here. [00:22:10] Oh, God. [00:22:13] What's up, everyone? [00:22:14] I'm Ego Moda. [00:22:15] My next guest, you know, from Step Brothers, Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network. [00:22:23] It's Will Farrell. [00:22:26] My dad gave me the best advice ever. [00:22:30] I went and had lunch with him one day, and I was like, and dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. [00:22:34] I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. [00:22:37] I'm working my way up through, and I know it's a place they come look for up and coming talent. [00:22:41] He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. [00:22:46] Yeah. [00:22:46] He goes, but there's so much luck involved. [00:22:49] And he's like, just give it a shot. [00:22:51] He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. [00:22:59] If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. [00:23:02] It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat just hang in there. [00:23:09] Yeah, it would not be. [00:23:11] Right, it wouldn't be that. [00:23:12] There's a lot of luck. [00:23:14] Listen to Thanks Dad on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. [00:23:23] There's two golden rules that any man should live by. [00:23:27] Rule one, never mess with a country girl. [00:23:30] You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. [00:23:33] And rule two, never mess with her friends either. [00:23:37] We always say that, trust your girlfriends. [00:23:41] I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of The Girlfriends. [00:23:44] Oh my God, this is the same man. [00:23:46] A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. [00:23:51] I felt like I got hit by a truck. [00:23:53] I thought, how could this happen to me? [00:23:55] The cops didn't seem to care. [00:23:57] So they take matters into their own hands. [00:24:00] I said, oh, hell no. [00:24:02] I vowed I will be his last target. [00:24:04] He's going to get what he deserves. [00:24:08] Listen to the girlfriends. [00:24:10] Trust me, babe. [00:24:11] On the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. [00:24:21] I'm Lori Siegel, and on Mostly Human, I go beyond the headlines with the people building our future. [00:24:27] This week, an interview with one of the most influential figures in Silicon Valley, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. [00:24:34] I think society is going to decide that creators of AI products bear a tremendous amount of responsibility to products we put out in the world. [00:24:40] From power to parenthood. [00:24:42] Kids, teenagers, I think they will need a lot of guardrails around AI. [00:24:46] This is such a powerful and such a new thing. [00:24:48] From addiction to acceleration. [00:24:50] The world we live in is a competitive world, and I don't think that's going to stop, even if you did a lot of redistribution. [00:24:55] You know, we have a deep desire to excel and be competitive and gain status and be useful to others. [00:25:01] And it's a multiplayer game. [00:25:04] What does the man who has extraordinary influence over our lives have to say about the weight of that responsibility? [00:25:10] Find out on Mostly Human. [00:25:12] My highest order bit is to not destroy the world with AI. [00:25:15] Listen to Mostly Human on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you listen to your favorite shows. [00:25:23] Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back. [00:25:29] I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting. [00:25:33] Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation with some of my favorite musicians. [00:25:39] Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Leve, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name. [00:25:49] And this season, I've sat down with Alessia Cara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more. [00:25:54] Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin. [00:25:57] You related to the Phantom at that point. [00:26:00] Yeah, I was definitely the Phantom in that. [00:26:02] That's so funny. [00:26:03] Sherry stay with me each night, each morning. === Defining the New Alpha Man (15:17) === [00:26:12] Say you love me. [00:26:14] You know I. [00:26:16] So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to Playing Along on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. [00:26:26] We're back. [00:26:30] Yeah. [00:26:31] Sorry for the genuine horror. [00:26:34] Where are you going to go from here, buddy? [00:26:36] Man, I am. [00:26:37] What's your pivot? [00:26:38] I don't think this kid's super toxic. [00:26:40] I think he's dealing with some shit and probably shouldn't be throwing it out in books under his real name because it's embarrassing. [00:26:48] But like, kind of starting to feel sorry for him. [00:26:51] Seems like a quiet kid who needs to be turned in the right direction. [00:26:56] And it seems like he ingested some toxic masculinity ideas from the manosphere, but it also doesn't seem like he's motivated by a hatred of women. [00:27:08] Fair. [00:27:09] What's he motivated by? [00:27:10] Well, let's not. [00:27:11] Is he using proper sentence structure? [00:27:13] Yeah, he's not good at sentences. [00:27:15] Look, but there's stuff in here like Codex number 131. [00:27:19] The Sigma male is suspicious of those who talk too much. [00:27:22] Codex number 133. [00:27:24] The Sigma male understands that the only thing that separates a man from a monster is compassion. [00:27:31] Yeah. [00:27:32] Yeah, I don't think this is, I don't think this kid's a monster, and I don't want to make fun of him anymore. [00:27:39] Interesting, fascinating little journey we had there. [00:27:43] Will we find out that we're actually the monsters? [00:27:46] I mean, he's a little bit. [00:27:50] It's a pretty dumb book. [00:27:52] Look, you write a dumb book. [00:27:54] Some people are going to look at it, but we're also mature enough adults to know when it's time to roll over to YouTube and watch something that will be easier to make fun of. [00:28:03] Let's choose the real battleground. [00:28:07] Yes, the battleground of YouTube. [00:28:09] How should we play this? [00:28:10] Are you going to just you can put it in the chat? [00:28:15] We can all watch it and then Doug can add it in afterwards. [00:28:19] Hi, Doug. [00:28:20] Hi, Doug. [00:28:21] I will put the link in the middle. [00:28:22] Press play at the same time. [00:28:24] Yeah. [00:28:26] Okay. [00:28:26] I'm putting it in. [00:28:28] And it's up to up to 194,000 views already. [00:28:32] Six. [00:28:33] So I think this is going to be a more fertile ground for us to us to dive into. [00:28:41] Okay. [00:28:42] I see the link. [00:28:43] I'm just getting through the ads. [00:28:46] It's just an ad for WandaVision. [00:28:48] I don't want to hear about Monday.com. [00:28:51] Sorry. [00:28:51] Nobody wants. [00:28:52] No one has ever wanted to hear about Monday.com unless they sponsor our show. [00:28:56] Are we going to watch this entire thing? [00:28:57] Because this is a lot. [00:28:59] It's just eight minutes. [00:29:00] We'll start and stop it. [00:29:02] We'll see. [00:29:02] We'll see where it takes us. [00:29:04] We got another book we might dive into. [00:29:06] This is all a learning process. [00:29:12] All right. [00:29:12] All right. [00:29:13] We're doing great. [00:29:14] We're doing great. [00:29:14] Yes. [00:29:15] I'm starting. [00:29:16] Start. [00:29:16] I'm starting. [00:29:17] A Sigma male, the rarest type of the rarest type of. [00:29:21] Hello, guys. [00:29:21] Welcome back to Alpha Show. [00:29:23] Oh, the Alpha Show. [00:29:30] After this video, giving strong pickup artists. [00:29:34] I love these kinds of videos where they just have a disembodied hand, draw the most fucked up thing you've ever seen in your life. [00:29:40] Sigma males are a rare breed of men and are arguably the most appealing to the neighbors. [00:29:45] Ladies are quite different from the music. [00:29:50] Oh, yeah, this is where we should be. [00:29:53] This is better. [00:29:53] Okay, we have a two males. [00:29:58] They can dominate the chance of a leader. [00:30:00] Oh, and they are a king. [00:30:03] Oh, wait, they're not a king. [00:30:04] They are cool and they're not the alpha males. [00:30:07] Nevertheless, their sigma should not be mistaken for weakness or shyness. [00:30:12] But before we start with this, I've never seen a video where the graphics really made it more confusing to understand. [00:30:18] So they're already doing an ad is based on three different 30-day challenges and more very useful things that will completely transform your mind. [00:30:26] He's both saying that November. [00:30:31] Okay. [00:30:32] Okay. [00:30:32] We have to pause because there's a lot going on on screen. [00:30:36] So where I've paused it, he's gone from saying that the Sigma male is the most desirable kind of male to women. [00:30:45] I'd like to take this to the comments because the top comment on this video read is from Cosmic Klutz. [00:30:51] Shout out to Cosmic Klutz. [00:30:53] It says, fun fact, one in every 10 Sigma males has the potential to go one step higher and become Ligma male. [00:31:04] Robert, Robert, do we think it's a matter of time? [00:31:06] People keep following this came over when this dropped? [00:31:10] Yeah, November 11th, 2020. [00:31:13] That was like a week post post-election. [00:31:17] Yeah. [00:31:17] I mean, we were probably, I don't remember if we were still, we might have still been counting votes then. [00:31:22] So this incredible video, this amazing video, goes from being like the Sigma male is the most desirable kind of male because unlike the alpha, he's not obsessed with being in charge. [00:31:33] He can dominate, but he doesn't have to. [00:31:35] And that's why women like him the most. [00:31:37] And it then goes to offering its new course, which is 30 Days to Alpha. [00:31:41] The Alpha Show is going to teach you how to be an Alpha Male in 30 days. [00:31:45] And this course includes three challenges to transforming your life. [00:31:52] I think we're about to learn. [00:31:54] But there's a lot going on on the screen. [00:31:55] Not only did they misspell the word transform and they misspelled the word confidence because it lists as parts of the course confidence mastery, but C-O-N-F-I-D-E-N-T-S. [00:32:08] Oh, hello. [00:32:11] No fat mastery next. [00:32:15] I can't like. [00:32:16] You learn how to be an alpha by not masturbating. [00:32:20] This is why anytime a comment section is like, why are women talking about astrology? [00:32:26] I'm like, listen, there's bigger fish to fry, okay? [00:32:30] Yeah. [00:32:32] This is ridiculous. [00:32:34] How much? [00:32:35] That's my question. [00:32:38] I think we're about to learn. [00:32:38] I'm going to unpause. [00:32:39] I think he's about to write complete life mastery. [00:32:41] Life mastery. [00:32:42] Yeah. [00:32:42] You're going to get complete life mastery by. [00:32:49] Master the power of no fab in the alpha of your group. [00:32:54] Yeah, that was just an embedded ad. [00:32:59] I mean, it was seamless. [00:33:00] There is the beta, delta, omega males. [00:33:12] Excitingly mysteriously. [00:33:18] You are amazing. [00:33:19] Alpha males with women and all of a sudden there's a chat. [00:33:26] I like that we've got the pyramid imagery and fall into line. [00:33:30] But personality psychology rather than a lot of people. [00:33:32] I like that. [00:33:32] They're just drawing ugly vector art 209, because he just he's, he's going through the hierarchy and he notes that excitingly, everyone had just thought it was alpha beta delta Omega, but personality researchers have discovered the exciting sigma male. [00:33:50] So this is a new we've. [00:33:52] We found, we found a new man, new man just dropped guys. [00:33:59] And this new man, the twist, he's got a personality and it's making these videos. [00:34:05] Oh wow wow, wow. [00:34:07] Okay, i'm gonna press play at 209 and we'll see what this. [00:34:10] These are the males. [00:34:11] How to become a sigma male. [00:34:12] You're hard to get, being hard to get and hard to get. [00:34:15] That's literally what it says on the page, do not care about what others think. [00:34:20] They seem to have always been around, stupid. [00:34:23] Okay, sigma males, do not care what others think, which is why you're watching attention for both good. [00:34:27] And then it says, frustrating Sophie, you're ahead too. [00:34:33] You're too far ahead. [00:34:34] We gotta, we gotta, we're gonna take this one bit at a time. [00:34:36] I'm cheating because it was horrifying and I was trying to fast forward. [00:34:39] It's very sigma of you what you should know about sigma males. [00:34:42] It's very sigma of you to jump ahead Sophie, but we gotta, we gotta take this methodically. [00:34:48] You know I. I'm at the part that says, here are what you should know about Sigma males. [00:34:53] That's the heading. [00:34:54] These are the males who make their own role here. [00:34:58] Here are what you should know. [00:35:00] They don't have a problem going in. [00:35:02] Sigma males do not care About what others think. [00:35:04] Yeah. [00:35:05] And then all of a sudden, there's a tenth of the fight doing their own thing on the fringe of society. [00:35:10] I'm watching. [00:35:10] I'm watching this, but I think I understand. [00:35:14] Yeah, so he says that Sigma males are traveling nomads who search for knowledge rather than material things. [00:35:19] You should know. [00:35:20] Which is why we have the clip art of the tent and the card next to the clip art of a guy on a laptop. [00:35:26] I would not be able to understand this if not for this. [00:35:32] They can decide to go solo for a while to take orders from people and don't take it. [00:35:35] They don't take orders from people and don't usually confirm to society. [00:35:47] They just like their own women lives. [00:35:52] They can decide solo for a while. [00:35:55] What is intriguing about Sigma males is that their need to be alone is just temporary. [00:36:00] They get an urgent money. [00:36:01] I'm at 319. [00:36:04] Oh, I'm at 345. [00:36:05] Wow. [00:36:06] If people were more flexible and willing to do things differently, it is not the Sigma males want to be alone as such. [00:36:12] Okay, well, right now they're creating fascinating things, starting businesses, quiet partners, hard workers outside their comfort zone. [00:36:19] Sigma fascinating things. [00:36:21] Okay, I'm at four minutes. [00:36:25] Sigma males will create fascinating males to treat them. [00:36:31] I'm trying to make this be comprehensible for people because we need to understand. [00:36:35] Honestly, the more this goes on, the more I'm starting to think that what the Sigma male thing is, is a grift specifically targeting nerdy and kind of anti-social young men who don't want to, who like don't want to be an alpha male because they're not jocks or into sports or anything like that, but they want to believe that they can be like trained in order to get women. [00:37:00] And I think that everything that this keeps emphasizing like they're quiet and they spend a lot of time alone and they like make things on the internet and all this stuff. [00:37:09] Like it's this, I can see who they're marketing to. [00:37:12] It's the guy who wrote that Sigma male code. [00:37:14] It's like lonely and kind of confused young men who aren't nearly as toxic as like the kind of guys who are obsessed with being alpha, right? [00:37:22] Like they're not gonna, they're not gonna take like steroids in order to gain the perfect alpha body and fat like, or get be like an like the incel types and obsess over like bone structure. [00:37:36] But they're just like it does just seem like a grift directed at shy young men who want to be accepted for who they are. [00:37:44] I think that's exactly what's happening. [00:37:46] Vulnerable population would be just grifting from yeah. [00:37:50] Can we all agree to start at four minutes now so that we can properly give context? [00:37:57] All right. [00:37:58] Four minutes. [00:37:59] Exactly. [00:38:00] Okay. [00:38:01] I'm pressing play. [00:38:02] Become a sigma male. [00:38:04] How to become hard to get and hard. [00:38:09] Being hard to get. [00:38:11] And it can be frustrating for ladies who find such men attractive. [00:38:15] The second is natural. [00:38:16] So sigma males keep things close to their chest. [00:38:19] I love the close to the chest drawing of their anticipated. [00:38:21] This is just a vector art grabbing his head. [00:38:24] Sigma males do their own thing when everyone is screaming and yelling with them to do something. [00:38:28] Sigma males do their own thing when everyone's screaming and yelling. [00:38:31] It's just that they see no point in living their lives' rules. [00:38:35] This is three. [00:38:36] You could be the alpha. [00:38:39] You could be the alpha. [00:38:40] They have all the qualities of the alpha male, but they choose to display none of it. [00:38:45] If you've had several chances and the ability to stop into leadership roles like the other girls broke. [00:38:56] Yeah, it's very clear what's going on here with the line that like, if you've had chances to take leadership roles, but choose not to, you're definitely a sigma male. [00:39:05] It's like, if you are, if you feel like your lack of confidence is holding you back from getting women or succeeding in your career, that's what makes you a sigma male because you're choosing not to, like, it's very clear who they're marketing to, right? [00:39:21] Like, it's, it's kind of, it's a, it's an attempt to package some of the manosphere classification of men's stuff for a group of men who are like not, they're, they're, they're not toxic enough that they're going to like want to jump into the men going their own way communities and they're not in cells and they're not like, they're not going to dive into the proud boy alpha male culture shit, but they've gotten a little bit wrapped up in this stuff. [00:39:45] And it's just like, it's very. [00:39:48] What I'm curious about is like, I understand the demographic they're catering to, but what do they want you to do? [00:39:55] Well, that's very unclear, Jamie. [00:39:58] Okay. [00:39:58] I was like, what is the plan? [00:40:00] Like, I understand. [00:40:04] But I feel like I've consumed so much content and yet I don't know what the goal is. [00:40:09] After these ads, we're going to learn what they want us to do. [00:40:12] Don't say much is number one. [00:40:15] Easy. [00:40:15] You should only speak when you need to speak, which that our awkward little friend's book said the same thing. [00:40:22] Right. [00:40:22] But it's just like, okay, you're describing continuing to be shy. [00:40:26] Like, what is the... [00:40:28] I think this is people. [00:40:29] This is young men who have gotten drawn into aspects of the manosphere, but also whenever they meet like pickup artist types or like men's rights activist types, they find them infuriating. [00:40:42] And because they're terrible, like if people who are who are have enough on the ball to recognize how horrible the manosphere is, but also don't have enough on the ball to not have gotten sucked in a little bit. [00:40:54] And this is... [00:40:55] They still need to gamify all of their stuff. [00:40:57] Be mysterious. [00:40:59] Be a rebel. [00:41:00] Like, it's just so general. [00:41:02] It's fascinating. [00:41:04] I'm really, I'm kind of confused as to like. [00:41:08] Let me, I think the way I can explain it is like the manosphere is an ocean and it's like an ocean of piss, but it's an ocean. [00:41:14] And this is the sigma male subculture that seems to be in the process of developing is like a tide pool of piss, right? [00:41:21] It's near the ocean. [00:41:23] It's influenced by the ocean, but it's its own little ecosystem. [00:41:27] I'm pressing play again. === Toxic Elements in Relationships (04:10) === [00:41:29] But what are they trying to, are they just trying to have sex? [00:41:33] Is that it? [00:41:34] Yeah, I mean, they're all just trying to have sex, right? [00:41:36] Like, that's the core of all of this is how do I have sex with women? [00:41:40] These are the guys who don't want to do the pickup artist stuff or the. [00:41:44] But do they want like to form meaningful relationships? [00:41:49] So in like five more seconds, it goes, be mysterious, be a rebel. [00:41:54] And then it says, the women will fall all over you. [00:41:57] Yeah. [00:41:57] I've got another ad. [00:41:59] Jamie, we'll move on from this video in a second because it's what's going on. [00:42:05] I think that like, obviously, none of the people who get wrapped up in this have their primary concern being meaningful relationships. [00:42:11] But I think the folks who fall in for the alpha male bullshit don't want meaningful relationships. [00:42:18] They just want to fuck. [00:42:20] Right. [00:42:20] They just want to fuck. [00:42:21] Yeah. [00:42:21] The people who fall for the sigma male things think that they do want a meaningful relationship, but they also objectify women and can't not gamify the entire process of courtship because they have a scary pyramid. [00:42:34] Yeah, they've been broken by the internet in similar but different ways. [00:42:38] It's this is fascinating. [00:42:39] I did not call this when we started this little live investigation we're doing. [00:42:44] Yeah, I'm interested in this because you like it has all of the toxic elements that like early shit does, but it doesn't quite seem focused on something yet. [00:42:56] No, and there's not like there has been almost no focus in that video or in the other book about like women. [00:43:02] Like there's not, it's not the same attempt to, like, we're not seeing the Vox Day stuff yet of like, here's the different categories of women and how you like woo the different types of women. [00:43:11] Like it's not aggressively anti-women, at least not the stuff that we've delved into yet. [00:43:18] It's focused, but I mean, obviously it's still toxic, like right when you're trying to like reduce people to a hierarchy, a pyramid of masculinity. [00:43:25] Like that's unhealthy, but it's a fascinatingly different kind of unhealthy from the stuff we talked about last episode. [00:43:31] This is very interesting to me. [00:43:33] Steven Nother say they're not the type of guy who would jump from one woman to another. [00:43:37] Instead, they try to find a woman who is self-sufficient like them and independent. [00:43:41] Sigma men find these things attractive in the opposite sex. [00:43:44] So I'm like, again, that doesn't like the worst advice in the world. [00:43:50] I mean, I know that we are, we have just been like, you know, treading piss for the last couple of hours, but like, yeah, this is like the least scary shit, but it looks and it's styled and it's presented like all the scary shit. [00:44:06] So maybe it just hasn't gotten scary yet. [00:44:08] I don't maybe, yeah, that's what I'm trying to decide. [00:44:12] Is it going to like get scary? [00:44:15] Because right now, what I'm not seeing that's nice that I expected to see is I haven't run into anything in the Sigma stuff that makes me think somebody reading this is going to shoot up a yoga studio, right? [00:44:25] We haven't hit that point in it yet. [00:44:28] No, it's like, or is it like, is this going to pick some men who might have wound up in that funnel out and teach them slightly less toxic bullshit that's still toxic, but not as? [00:44:42] I don't know. [00:44:43] I don't know. [00:44:44] I think what we're going to watch next after this next ad break, there's another video that was suggested to me by YouTube's recommendation algorithm based on the first video, and it's much more popular. [00:44:53] It's called Five Habits of the Sigma Male by Einzelgeinger. [00:44:59] And it has 841,000 views. [00:45:02] So yeah, I think this might be a, I think this might be, this might, this might lead us to some answers. [00:45:10] But first, find the answers to literally every single problem that exists in your life by finding the products and services that support this podcast. [00:45:18] Because only through products and services can you gain true happiness. [00:45:23] Wow. [00:45:26] What's up, everyone? [00:45:27] I'm Ego Modem. [00:45:28] My next guest, you know, from Step Brothers, Anchorman, Saturday Night Live, and the Big Money Players Network, it's Will Farrell. === Thanksgiving iHeartRadio Special (03:14) === [00:45:39] My dad gave me the best advice ever. [00:45:43] I went and had lunch with him one day, and I was like, and dad, I think I want to really give this a shot. [00:45:47] I don't know what that means, but I just know the groundlings. [00:45:50] I'm working my way up through it. [00:45:51] I know it's a place they come look for up and coming talent. [00:45:54] He said, if it was based solely on talent, I wouldn't worry about you, which is really sweet. [00:45:59] Yeah. [00:45:59] He goes, but there's so much luck involved. [00:46:02] And he's like, just give it a shot. [00:46:04] He goes, but if you ever reach a point where you're banging your head against the wall and it doesn't feel fun anymore, it's okay to quit. [00:46:12] If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. [00:46:15] It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat just hang in there. [00:46:22] Yeah, it would not be. [00:46:24] Right, it wouldn't be that. [00:46:25] There's a lot of luck. [00:46:27] Listen to Thanksgiving on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you get your podcasts. [00:46:36] There's two golden rules that any man should live by. [00:46:40] Rule one, never mess with a country girl. [00:46:44] You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes. [00:46:46] And rule two, never mess with her friends either. [00:46:50] We always say that, trust your girlfriends. [00:46:54] I'm Anna Sinfield, and in this new season of The Girlfriends... [00:46:57] Oh my god, this is the same man. [00:46:59] A group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist. [00:47:04] I felt like I got hit by a truck. [00:47:06] I thought, how could this happen to me? [00:47:08] The cops didn't seem to care. [00:47:10] So they take matters into their own hands. [00:47:13] I said, oh, hell no. [00:47:15] I vowed I will be his last target. [00:47:17] He's going to get what he deserves. [00:47:22] Listen to the girlfriends. [00:47:23] Trust me, babe. [00:47:24] On the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. [00:47:34] Hey, I'm Nora Jones, and I love playing music with people so much that my podcast called Playing Along is back. [00:47:40] I sit down with musicians from all musical styles to play songs together in an intimate setting. [00:47:44] Every episode's a little different, but it all involves music and conversation with some of my favorite musicians. [00:47:50] Over the past two seasons, I've had special guests like Dave Grohl, Leve, Mavis Staples, Remy Wolf, Jeff Tweedy, really too many to name. [00:47:59] And this season, I've sat down with Alessia Cara, Sarah McLaughlin, John Legend, and more. [00:48:05] Check out my new episode with Josh Grobin. [00:48:08] You hear related to the Phantom at that point? [00:48:11] Yeah, I was definitely the Phantom in that. [00:48:13] That's so funny. [00:48:14] Shari, stay with me each night, each morning. [00:48:22] Say you love me. [00:48:25] You know I. [00:48:27] So come hang out with us in the studio and listen to Playing Along on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. [00:48:35] I'm Laurie Siegel, and on Mostly Human, I go beyond the headlines with the people building our future. [00:48:40] This week, an interview with one of the most influential figures in Silicon Valley, OpenAI CEO Sam Altman. [00:48:47] I think society is going to decide that creators of AI products bear a tremendous amount of responsibility to products we put out in the world. === Magical Introvert Capabilities (15:20) === [00:48:53] From power to parenthood. [00:48:55] Kids, teenagers, I think they will need a lot of guardrails around AI. [00:48:59] This is such a powerful and such a new thing. [00:49:01] From addiction to acceleration. [00:49:03] The world we live in is a competitive world, and I don't think that's going to stop, even if you did a lot of redistribution. [00:49:08] You know, we have a deep desire to excel and be competitive and gain status and be useful to others. [00:49:14] And it's a multiplayer game. [00:49:17] What does the man who has extraordinary influence over our lives have to say about the weight of that responsibility? [00:49:23] Find out on Mostly Human. [00:49:25] My highest order bit is to not destroy the world with AI. [00:49:28] Listen to Mostly Human on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcast, or wherever you listen to your favorite shows. [00:49:39] Welcome back from Break. [00:49:41] We're about to start five habits of the Sigma male. [00:49:44] And start. [00:49:45] I'm sure that you have heard of the alpha and beta males at some point in your life. [00:49:49] In popular culture, these terms based on the alphabet can be used to describe meal processes. [00:50:06] Many men do not fit the alpha and beta roles. [00:50:09] Fine, that is why men contain multi-phobic-based personnel. [00:50:13] That's why there's more alphabet-based personal interesting ones. [00:50:17] Get it? [00:50:18] The sigma male is the one who does not identify a certain place in the hierarchy. [00:50:23] Moreover, he uses the hierarchy to his advantage. [00:50:26] He loves freedom. [00:50:27] It's so weird because I feel like they're trying to present something outside of this like bullshit masculinity binary that's developed. [00:50:34] Let's dive in. [00:50:35] And then it's like, but this is just a new part of it. [00:50:37] It's not actually the binary still exists, but this is the new persistence change or just me. [00:50:44] A sigma male is by nature a non-conformist. [00:50:47] This is the first habit going left when everyone goes right. [00:50:50] Yes, he can be social and enjoy social gathering. [00:50:53] And under this audio, we have a picture of a man walking alone in the snowy woods. [00:50:57] Yeah, again, very, very twilight. [00:51:01] It looks like Mr. Robot fan art. [00:51:03] Yeah, he's a real Sigma. [00:51:07] Yeah, that's true. [00:51:08] He's himself. [00:51:09] Remy Malik and Mr. Robots the big tourist attractions. [00:51:14] When he goes for a hike, he prefers uncharted areas. [00:51:17] He's an explorer. [00:51:18] He's a rebel. [00:51:19] He likes the uncharted area. [00:51:21] I know. [00:51:22] He's literally in the world. [00:51:25] When he feels like he blends in, he knows the herd. [00:51:28] He knows how to act like one of the herds. [00:51:30] Okay, graphic. [00:51:33] All right. [00:51:33] I'm going to skip ahead to find what's okay if you skip ahead. [00:51:37] Habit number two is he often goes on dates with himself. [00:51:41] With himself. [00:51:42] Which is like, again, not everything. [00:51:45] Yeah. [00:51:45] It's like, yes, that's a healthy thing to do if you're not gamifying the entirety of your existence because the internet has so thoroughly broken you. [00:51:55] Still this freaky man pyramid that you have to squish into a layer of. [00:52:02] It's so God. [00:52:04] It's really, yeah, I don't know. [00:52:06] Three is he travels alone somewhere far, far away. [00:52:14] There's a lot of lonely people. [00:52:17] Yeah. [00:52:18] This is such a weird way of explaining loneliness. [00:52:21] He keeps silent when he doesn't understand. [00:52:24] Yeah. [00:52:26] Yeah, it's lone. [00:52:27] You're lonely. [00:52:28] All right. [00:52:29] Well, the next thing that has been suggested to me after this. [00:52:32] God damn it, Robert. [00:52:33] No. [00:52:34] Yeah, we're doing this. [00:52:35] Sophie, I'm driving this bus. [00:52:37] I'm the Sigma. [00:52:38] Yeah, well, I'm your overlord. [00:52:40] They're not doing it. [00:52:42] Yeah, we have to. [00:52:44] We have to, Sophie. [00:52:46] Do you really want to listen to all of that? [00:52:48] We know what it's about. [00:52:49] I don't want to listen to any of this, but here we are. [00:52:52] It's about men in the woods. [00:52:54] It's literally about men going their own way, if you will. [00:52:57] It is about men going their own way. [00:52:59] That's the thing. [00:52:59] I can see this leading into the world. [00:53:00] But this time in a less scary way. [00:53:04] It's so strange. [00:53:05] I'm very curious because it seems like, just even based on what we've been talking about, that these movements start a little bit like blobby. [00:53:14] They don't quite know what they're doing. [00:53:15] And then something happens and they settle on a goal. [00:53:20] The Sigmas don't seem to have hit their goal yet. [00:53:24] Other than that, they like to vacation alone and read books. [00:53:27] You're like, okay, I do like the attempt to turn being lonely into a culture. [00:53:34] Yeah. [00:53:35] And into a type of male who is irresistible to women, but also doesn't usually is hard to get, but by his own choice. [00:53:44] Yeah. [00:53:45] I guess that's maybe going to lead to less mass shooters. [00:53:50] Yeah. [00:53:50] Jamie, do you feel like this is quite literally the I'm not like the other girls trope, but like in gender reverse? [00:53:57] But for boys. [00:53:58] No, well, I think it is like the same logic, but like I'm not like other girls trope to me seems like a lot like it is to say something very simple as a way to like say that you are like boy. [00:54:15] I feel like I'm not like other girls. [00:54:16] It's just another way of being like, girls are too much drama. [00:54:19] You know, like women who say they don't hang out with other women because girls are too much drama. [00:54:24] And that's why they're like, I'm not like other girls. [00:54:27] You can fucking shove me in a trunk and I won't scream. [00:54:30] Like that kind of, oh gosh, it it makes me, that's like a different kind of sadness to me. [00:54:37] But they are just saying, I'm not like other boys. [00:54:39] I'm lonely. [00:54:40] And it's like, you're like a lot of boys. [00:54:42] You're like a lot of people. [00:54:44] You know, everyone's lonely. [00:54:46] I'm hitting some scary stuff at this point down the YouTube rabbit hole. [00:54:50] I don't know. [00:54:52] There's two things that have come up on my recommendations list that both really concern me. [00:54:57] One of them is Sigma Male Affirmations, two hours of reprogramming spoken by Sigma Spirit. [00:55:05] Now, this is made by Mindful Wave Studio, and we're at about 157,000 views on this. [00:55:10] They're making Sigma male ASMR. [00:55:12] Wait. [00:55:14] And they call it reprogramming, which is kind of scary. [00:55:19] That's not the start of a positive movement. [00:55:21] Okay, so maybe this is because I'm like, maybe the video we first watched was kind of a 101 thing. [00:55:26] That's like, hey, are you lonely? [00:55:28] Stay on this algorithm path. [00:55:30] Yeah. [00:55:31] I think that's, I don't know. [00:55:32] I hope it's not like this. [00:55:34] This seems like a different kind of grifter than the traditional pickup artist or the manosphere grift. [00:55:44] There's almost more self-help. [00:55:45] I want to read the Mindful Wave Studios description of their affirmations. [00:55:50] Are you a Sigma male? [00:55:51] Sigma males have a unique set of skills and qualities that set them apart within the social hierarchy. [00:55:56] In many ways, they're the most interesting and attractive types of men. [00:56:00] Mysterious, introverted, intelligent, and charismatic in unpredictable ways. [00:56:04] Follow along with my reprogramming Sigma male affirmations to absorb these strengths, understand your Sigma self, and win as your own unique person. [00:56:14] That's scary. [00:56:15] And then if you go further down and it's-hour video. [00:56:18] Yeah, there's an eight-hour video, which scares the hell out of me. [00:56:22] It has the cover art from Justified. [00:56:24] So I guess the cop from Justified and John Wick are the two big Sigma male. [00:56:30] I thought you were saying justified like the Justin Timberlake album, but I was really confused. [00:56:36] I feel comfortable saying this because it's a man speaking. [00:56:39] This is the most vocal fry I've ever heard in my entire life is the Sigma male affirmations. [00:56:45] Hold on. [00:56:45] Okay. [00:56:46] I have to, I haven't listened to it yet. [00:56:48] All right. [00:56:48] I'm starting. [00:56:50] Not sure. [00:56:50] Oh, no. [00:56:52] My introversion has no idea. [00:56:55] I can hear the vocal fry through whoever's listening to it, and I don't have it playing. [00:57:00] I have no issue with vocal fry, but neither do I. [00:57:03] I know who's complaining about it the most. [00:57:05] Yeah, that's what don't know why you're special. [00:57:07] It's because you're a sigma male. [00:57:08] And attractive. [00:57:09] Yeah. [00:57:10] We're the most interesting and attractive types of men. [00:57:12] Introverted. [00:57:13] Intelligent. [00:57:15] I have the stoic masculinity of a samurai without a master. [00:57:20] Did you really say that? [00:57:22] Yeah, I fast-forwarded to an hour in. [00:57:24] I'm like, okay, so what does he say once he thinks you're asleep? [00:57:27] All right, I'm going to hit 110 and see what he tells me. [00:57:29] My introspective nature allows me to harness deep reserves of power. [00:57:32] My nature allows me to harness deep reserves of power capabilities. [00:57:39] Wow. [00:57:40] My introversion has no fapt too. [00:57:44] My introversion has magical capabilities. [00:57:47] Yes, that's an iconic. [00:57:49] I'm going to get a shirt. [00:57:50] My introversion has magical capabilities. [00:57:55] Oh, no. [00:57:56] I am with a covert operative. [00:57:58] I feel comfortable saying himself. [00:58:00] This is a totally different kind of toxic than I thought it was. [00:58:04] I have the social skills of an assassin that penetrates a walled off society to complete his mission. [00:58:12] I am hard to understand, and this makes people try harder. [00:58:19] My skills with women are based on my deep core competencies. [00:58:23] I have the courage of a sniper. [00:58:25] I've been saying this. [00:58:26] Okay, I just feel like they all want to be drug-hut from Richard A. [00:58:30] I have deep layers people try to crack open. [00:58:32] I am great with women. [00:58:33] I'm like a covert operative who depends on himself. [00:58:36] You look scared. [00:58:39] Women are constantly being sucked into my box. [00:58:44] Oh, God. [00:58:44] I have this. [00:58:45] Mysterious masculinity is a door women are incredibly curious to open. [00:58:50] So it is just like repeating very specific, scary, like whatever, like toxic affirmations. [00:59:00] But there's no, but there's no action. [00:59:02] There's no action. [00:59:03] It's not like the other pickup artist stuff. [00:59:05] Like they're not, they're not teaching men tactics to pick up women. [00:59:09] They're trying to convince introverted loners that if they just accept being an introverted loner, that's the hottest thing you can be, which is like... [00:59:17] It's just a jughead from Riverdale. [00:59:19] Like I have just, it is literally, it is literally whatever Sprouts brother playing jughead from Riverdale. [00:59:27] Yeah. [00:59:28] Robert doesn't know what that is, but yes. [00:59:31] So weird. [00:59:32] You don't need to, but that is the point. [00:59:36] I did not expect this to be the lessons that we took out of today. [00:59:43] It's like, it's weird, but I, I don't know. [00:59:48] I mean, it's weird. [00:59:51] Yeah. [00:59:52] And of course, there's Jordan in my recommendations. [00:59:54] There's Jordan Peterson videos. [00:59:56] There's a lot of them. [00:59:57] Oh my God. [00:59:57] This is a gateway drawer. [00:59:59] I've seen at least 40 hours worth of videos of Sigma male affirmations. [01:00:04] Oh my God. [01:00:05] This is just. [01:00:08] You can pass out for a day and a half and not run out of sigma male affirmations. [01:00:13] Yeah. [01:00:14] Sigma male strength guided meditations? [01:00:17] This is an untapped market. [01:00:18] I'm about to log the fuck in and be like, Sigma males, I totally, I'm drawn into your vortex. [01:00:26] Yeah. [01:00:28] The one guy no girl can resist, the sigma from the far from average YouTube channel with 1.29 million subscribers, and there's nearly a million views on this video. [01:00:40] We're going to end by going over this last video, guys. [01:00:43] I'm going to send you this link. [01:00:46] Well, my question, I guess, is like repeating to yourself that you're the greatest person in the other world, like in the entire fucking world is not going to make women like you more. [01:00:58] So what happens when inevitably you realize that? [01:01:02] What happens then? [01:01:03] Yeah, because it's like there's a level to which some of the stuff they're saying, this idea that like, I am awesome and great because I'm my own, like I'm an introverted, smart person who doesn't need other people or seek to be an alpha. [01:01:18] That's not like... [01:01:19] I mean, I've read equivalents of that in teen magazines. [01:01:23] There's a version of this that's like on the road to healthy thinking, but it's all wrapped up in I am the best and most attractive type of man out of the categories of man that there are because I'm a sigma man. [01:01:36] And that's like that it's it's both on the verge of like someone heading in a healthier direction and also on the verge of Elliot Rogers shit, right? [01:01:44] Like this is the most attractive and perfect kind of man because I'm a sigma male. [01:01:49] What happens when you're the kind when you keep being a sigma male and the women don't realize that you're the most attractive kind of man? [01:01:56] Exactly. [01:01:56] That's where something bad happens. [01:01:58] Like I, but they don't say that. [01:02:00] It's so confusing. [01:02:01] Okay, so it's, it does remind me because like whatever on both sides of this quote unquote like binary, right? [01:02:08] It's like women are asked to reach a level of perfection that they pop they could not possibly exist. [01:02:15] But then the sigmas are over here saying, I have achieved that. [01:02:19] I am the most perfect person to ever exist. [01:02:24] And people just don't see it. [01:02:26] Like, but, but what happens when people, when they just continue to be lonely? [01:02:34] How do you explain that? [01:02:36] That's the scary thing, right? [01:02:38] What happens when none of this works and you keep being lonely and not as successful? [01:02:44] Like, what happens when sitting alone on your computer and reading books doesn't give you as many girls as the alphas you imagine exist, right? [01:02:54] Like, that's then do you start shooting up a yoga studio? [01:02:58] It seems like a disaster waiting to happen. [01:03:01] I'm so very confused. [01:03:03] This is very different, but fascinating. [01:03:07] I sent you a link. [01:03:07] I want to close on this last video because it has like a million views. [01:03:12] And it's titled The One Guy No Girl Can Resist. [01:03:16] So, ladies, we'll watch this and you'll let me know if you think the guy this video is describing can be resisted because I can't evaluate that objectively. [01:03:27] So, are we all ready? [01:03:28] I'm ready. [01:03:29] All right, play. [01:03:31] You're about to learn might be a great outlook on girls and how to interact with them. [01:03:39] What many people fail to realize is that we live in a world that is governed by a social hierarchy. [01:03:46] This system determines where people and groups of people are. [01:03:50] Starting with the hierarchy, some call it the chain of command or the pecking order. [01:03:54] Jesus Christ. [01:03:55] It's just an unseen ranking system. [01:03:57] Everywhere you look at the system. [01:03:57] It's always with the fucking pyramids. [01:03:59] Pyramids and sculptures. [01:04:01] This governs everything you do. [01:04:03] Everywhere you look, this is the system. [01:04:12] These are the ball players, the super attractive. === Social Hierarchy and Pyramids (04:02) === [01:04:14] So toxic. [01:04:15] From the moment mankind developed a civilized society, the ones at the top have always received the greatest rewards. [01:04:23] The ball players can pretty much be every girl that they want to be. [01:04:26] It's also just really interesting with the narrator and the tone of voice they have. [01:04:34] Every single person on the planet is part of the social hierarchy. [01:04:39] Yeah, it is like kind of a more normal sounding because it's like when you go back to like pick up artists on YouTube back in the day, it was like these guys who were fucking jacked and couldn't move. [01:04:49] Oh gosh, this is really toxic stuff. [01:04:53] Number one, everyone in the world is part of this hierarchy. [01:04:56] Alphas were born with genetics that make them dominant. [01:04:59] Like again, what is with the weird hot art situation going on in these videos? [01:05:07] This has a million views. [01:05:09] Suggested videos for me are Joe Rogan, the mirror method, Sway House, Ticky Sway House. [01:05:18] Wow. [01:05:18] So nuts. [01:05:20] Yeah. [01:05:21] Oh, God. [01:05:21] And there's another video from Einzelganger that's Sigma male or Joker. [01:05:26] Oh, no. [01:05:27] Yeah. [01:05:27] See, I know. [01:05:28] It always. [01:05:29] Okay, first of all, does anybody have to get rid of it? [01:05:34] Stealth seduction. [01:05:37] No, no. [01:05:39] Other than being one of those things. [01:05:40] Okay, there is 230. [01:05:47] This is a gateway drug is my summary of it all. [01:05:51] Yeah. [01:05:51] This is all very toxic. [01:05:53] So how do you get it? [01:05:54] Yeah, this sounds like whenever you're at Zenu level with Sigma stuff, something really fucked up happens, but it just takes a while. [01:06:06] There was a piece written about Sigma males in Mel Magazine a couple of weeks ago by my friend Miles Klee, who says, no one seems to know what this fucking thing is. [01:06:19] It's like a red pill man who doesn't actually want to be an alpha because being an alpha and becoming an alpha is too much work. [01:06:27] So therefore, you just say, I am already an alpha. [01:06:33] But then what? [01:06:34] I'm as good as an alpha, but I'm a different kind of man that's actually better because I'm cool and mysterious and women like me better. [01:06:43] But also, I don't spend a lot of time around women because I'm a loner. [01:06:48] And they've put a bullshit pyramid of their own making to begin constructing a new bullshit pyramid. [01:06:58] I don't want you guys to watch Riverdale now. [01:07:01] Just made a whole series about this. [01:07:03] That's what that series is. [01:07:05] My God. [01:07:06] There's the alpha guy and the Sigma guy, their best friend. [01:07:10] And it's just something just as intelligent. [01:07:13] Well, I think we've gained a proper understanding of the Sigma male today. [01:07:19] Gateway drugs from Riverdale summary. [01:07:23] Yeah, so I guess our three Sigma examples are Jugdale. [01:07:26] Jughead from Riverdale. [01:07:31] John Wick and the guy from Justified, according to our YouTube recommendations algorithm. [01:07:39] I'm only three characters who are objectively a danger to themselves and others. [01:07:44] Six facts. [01:07:46] Well, this has been a fascinating exploration. [01:07:49] I think we've all learned everything that we need to know. [01:07:52] Well, I'm glad that far-right red pilling operations finally have their version of astrology to enjoy. [01:08:01] Good for them. [01:08:03] Too bad there's going to be a fucking body count inevitably with shit like this. [01:08:08] I'm excited. [01:08:09] I'm in pain. [01:08:11] Well, that'll about do it for us here at Behind the Bastards. [01:08:14] That's Jamie. === Dark Future of AI (03:03) === [01:08:16] You want to plug anything? [01:08:18] Any Sigma videos you're going to be checking out next? [01:08:22] No, and in fact, I would ask that people don't link me to more Sigma information. [01:08:26] I don't want any. [01:08:28] If you know more than I do, all of the questions I've posed in this podcast episode, I don't actually want the answers. [01:08:35] And please don't tell me them if you know what they are. [01:08:38] I'd like to live completely in the dark here. [01:08:42] But you can follow me on Twitter and you can listen to Lolita podcast. [01:08:47] And that's what you can do. [01:08:49] Yeah. [01:08:50] You can tweet at me and let me know if you think my drug head analysis is accurate. [01:09:04] When a group of women discover they've all dated the same prolific con artist, they take matters into their own hands. [01:09:12] I vowed I will be his last target. [01:09:15] He is not going to get away with this. [01:09:17] He's going to get what he deserves. [01:09:19] We always say that, trust your girlfriends. [01:09:24] Listen to the girlfriends. [01:10:54] If you saw it written down, it would not be an inspiration. [01:10:57] It would not be on a calendar of, you know, the cat just hanging in there. [01:11:04] Yeah, it would not be. [01:11:06] Right, it wouldn't be that. [01:11:07] There's a lot of life. [01:11:09] Listen to Thanks Dad on the iHeartRadio app, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts.
