Brother Nathanael - Mad Dogs Of War Aired: 2018-01-31 Duration: 03:41 === New Dog at the Pentagon (03:40) === [00:00:01] There's a new dog on the block who's wagging the tail of President Trump. [00:00:06] It's Mad Dog Mattis who might as well treat his doghouse at Trump's White House seat. [00:00:13] And now out of the wild blue yonder, Mattis says the war on terror is over. [00:00:20] That's great. But wait, Mad Dog's looking for a bigger fish to fry. [00:00:25] There is a major change in U.S. military strategy. [00:00:28] Today, more than 16 years after the 9-11 attacks, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis said terrorism is no longer the number one priority. [00:00:36] David Martin has more on what is. [00:00:39] China and Russia have replaced terrorism as the primary focus of the new national defense strategy. [00:00:46] Maintaining a military advantage over China and Russia is now Defense Secretary Mattis' top priority. [00:00:52] Get it? Killing towel heads in the desert bores the dog to death. [00:00:58] But full-scale planetary nuclear war? [00:01:01] Now that's a lit-up theater that will glow in the dark. [00:01:06] The world, to quote George Shultz, is awash in change, defined by increasing global volatility and uncertainty with great power competition between nations becoming a reality once again. [00:01:20] We will continue to prosecute the campaign against terrorists that we're engaged in today, but great power competition, not terrorism, is now the primary focus of U.S. national security. [00:01:32] Looks to me like his defense strategy is a little short on defense, but way long on offense. [00:01:38] Of course, the dog has no friends or family. [00:01:42] All he thinks about all day is killing people. [00:01:46] Defense is a drag, but going after the prey makes that dog's day. [00:01:51] Somebody put this dog on a leash. [00:01:54] We face growing threats from revisionist powers as different as China and Russia are from each other. [00:02:01] Nations that do seek to create a world consistent with their authoritarian models, pursuing veto authority over other nations' economic, diplomatic, and security decisions. [00:02:13] Come on. That authoritarian model squats at the Pentagon and breeds dogs of war that tramps all over civilian rule. [00:02:22] Mattis has his paymasters to please, the Fed that cuts his checks, and the neocons that goad him on. [00:02:29] It's a bark mitzvah where only the goids die young. [00:02:34] The paradox of war is that an enemy will attack any perceived weakness. [00:02:39] So we in America cannot adopt a single, preclusive form of warfare. [00:02:45] Rather, we must be able to fight across the spectrum of conflict. [00:02:49] This means that the size and the composition of our force matters. [00:02:53] The nation must field sufficient capable forces to deter conflict. [00:02:59] And if deterrence fails, we must win. [00:03:01] Who's messing with us? [00:03:03] Who would ever want to? [00:03:05] We've got enough deterrence to give the world peace for 2,000 years. [00:03:10] But we've got a dog off his leash. [00:03:13] It's a prescription for World War III. How do we win a war with a nuked-up Russia and China? [00:03:20] It's Apocalypse Now! [00:03:27] Where career killers and coucher neocons get their kicks. [00:03:38] Thanks. [00:03:40] Let sleeping dogs lie.
