What began as a rally for gun control has now cut short the careers of two Tennessee state lawmakers. | |
| Democrat representatives Justin Jones and Justin Pearson were expelled by Republicans who hold a supermajority in the Tennessee House after joining a protest on the floor of the statehouse last week. | ||
| That came in the wake of the Covenant school shooting in Nashville in which six people, including three nine-year-old children, were killed. | ||
| Johnson, Representatives Pearson and Jones, used a bullhorn to join those gun control protesters. | ||
| The lawmakers' actions broke House rules of decorum, and the three Democrats were called insurrectionists by the Republican House Speaker. | ||
| And as a result of tonight's votes, Jones and Pearson are now former representatives. | ||
