We are live, live, live broadcasting the gospel of Jesus Christ to the ends of this good old flat earth.
Really excited for the broadcast this evening, and we're thankful for each and every one of you joining Brian and I for the broadcast tonight.
And we are just very, very thankful and excited.
We're going to do a little mail call.
Yes, we are.
And I got a couple of really nice notes to read.
One, and I got a lot of nice letters, but I wanted to read a little bit from Pippa, who wrote from Australia.
And Pippa and Karen become friends in Australia from Sister Donna's remnant location page.
And one of these days, I want Donna or Brian or someone to figure out how to upload this thumbnail uh this uh flash drive that's what it's a flash drive of the wedding it was just so beautiful and I'd love to figure out how to air that.
Now Karen or Pippa writes Karen and I know that FOJC's Ministry of Truth and Love has deeply influenced those of us far more than you could even imagine.
Gerstaunch Foundation of Obedience to God's Word has manifested into these testimonies, and we thank you so much for that, Pippa, and it is the message that matters And we're so thankful every week, there's not a week goes by, but what someone writes and says, thank God, we've found the truth.
We've been saved.
We've been set free.
And it is just such a blessing to hear that.
That's what it's all about.
Seeing people come to the truth and walking in obedience.
I want to read just a little bit from a letter from this is from Brian and Vicki from Kansas.
And I want to read just a little bit of this.
Dear David, hope this letter finds you doing well.
I just wanted to write to you to thank you for what you're doing.
The message you are preaching needs to reach the world.
The Bible is the only truth in this world.
If it is not from the Bible, it is a lie.
Thank you for helping me and Vicki Churchill see the truth.
Your teachings are Spirit-led.
We can feel it.
Well, I can feel it sometimes too, Vicki, when I'm preaching it up in here.
It feels pretty good.
And it is the anointing of the Spirit that will break the yoke.
And we'd love to hear the testimonies.
And it's just such a great blessing to know the Word of God will not return void.
The real gospel will produce real converts.
The reason why there's so many false conversions in modern churches It's a false gospel!
A false gospel won't convert anybody, but thanks be to God, the Word of God is bringing forth and manifesting much fruit.
And I'm going to acknowledge some more letters we got this week, and I want to give her address.
If you would like to write to Sister Don and I here at FOJC, you can write to Sister Don and I at followersofjesuschrist.org.
Post Office Box 671, Tail City, Indiana, 47586.
And these others, I give Donna a little stack of cards and so many nice notes from these others.
And I'll acknowledge some more.
Daryl from Missouri, Melanie from Indiana, Simsie and Terry in Pennsylvania, Thomas in Michigan, Tyler in Oregon, Katherine in Ohio, Dennis in Indiana, Arla in the state of Washington, Stacey in Texas, Dennis and Deanne in Ohio, Brian and Vicky in Kansas, Tom and Chris in Indiana,
Vicki in Oklahoma, Cynthia in Michigan, and Marianne in Arizona.
And I want to say also that for Tyler and Amber, you had some questions, and if I don't lose your paper, I'm going to answer those questions on Sunday Night Live.
This Sunday night, we're going to have a Bible study, 2 John chapter 2.
We did chapter 1.
We're going to do chapter 2.
We're going to take a little Q&A, and I'm going to put the questions there from Tyler and Amber at the top of the list Sunday night.
Just pray that I don't lose your paper, and we'll be good to go.
And, of course, I'm not going to do that.
Also, I want to say to Vicki in Oklahoma, That I have prayed over your prayer requests, and I feel led to pray with even more
A little more prayer on that, so I'm going to forward your prayer request to the prayer-a-thon, and we're going to pray for that also during our prayer-a-thon, which will be coming up August 26, 6 p.m., and I believe as soon as Sister Donna gets in the chat, she's going to put that email in there for you, so that if you would like us to pray for your prayer request,
That we will do so in our prayer-a-thon coming up very, very soon.
Well, all right, then.
We're going to have a word of prayer, and we're going to get into our lesson for this evening.
It's entitled, The Spirit of Holiness.
The Spirit of Holiness.
And let's pray.
Father, we thank you once again for the opportunity to come And preach your gospel on multiple platforms tonight.
We thank you, Father, that this word is going out on multiple platforms.
We just pray, Father, that you just keep opening up avenues of effectiveness for us to preach the gospel.
And Father, just open the hearts of the people this evening to receive anything that comes forth that's truly from you.
And Father, I want to lift up Brian tonight.
I want to lift him up for strength.
I want to lift him up for the battles that he is facing.
Father, we just pray that you mightily bless and reward your servant with anointing from on high and just quicken him in that which he has to do for you.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray and we agree.
Amen and amen.
The Spirit of Holiness!
The Spirit of Holiness!
And I'm following a lot of the outline of the great Puritan scholar John Owen in the third volume of his works, where he did a whole big volume on the Holy Ghost.
It's so good.
And we're going to begin in studying the Holy Ghost, the third person of the Godhead, who is God and equal to the Father and the Son.
And we're going to be, this is our first lesson here, where we're going to begin looking at some of the names of the Holy Ghost.
And by the way, His first name is holy.
That should be a clue for us, shouldn't it?
That's right.
And he is the one that makes us holy.
The spirit of sanctification comes from the Spirit of God.
So, we're going to look at the book of Romans, chapter 1, in verse 4, and we're going to see the first name, which the Holy Ghost is called by that we're going to look at this evening, which happens to be the title of our lesson this evening, The Spirit of Holiness, in Romans chapter 1 and verse 4.
And declared to be the Son of God with power according to the Spirit of holiness by the resurrection from the dead.
If Jesus would have committed so much as one sin He would not have rose from the dead, but our sinless Savior was raised from the dead by the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of holiness.
And I believe that the Holy Spirit knew the very moment That Christ was going to come forth from the grave, and I believe that it was the Spirit of God.
Let me read a scripture for you.
Hebrews 9 14.
It says, how much more?
How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the Eternal Spirit, the Spirit's Eternal, we were talking last week about Micah 5, 2, about the Messiah, whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting, from olam, from eternity, and the Spirit is called the Eternal Spirit.
Now, what part did the Holy Ghost have in Jesus offering himself to God?
And I believe it was the Holy Ghost that told Jesus the exact moment when he was supposed to die.
I believe the Holy Ghost said, That's it.
And I believe when the Holy Ghost told Jesus it was finished, He said, it is finished.
I believe that the Spirit of God was right there orchestrating.
And after the Holy Spirit told Him when to die, it was by the Spirit of holiness that Jesus rose from the grave.
And if He would have committed so much as one sin, He would not have been resurrected, but He was our sinless, virgin-born Savior.
Praise His holy name, and it is the Spirit of holiness, and He is the Holy Spirit.
He makes us holy.
In Isaiah, chapter 63, And in the 10th verse, we see the phrase again.
In Isaiah 63, 10, we see it in the Old and in the New.
It says, But they rebelled and vexed His Holy Spirit.
Therefore He was turned to be their enemy, and He fought against them.
Isn't it something?
that the Spirit of God would be your enemy.
What a greater travesty or a tragedy could we have than to vex or trouble and rebel?
And we're going to see in the lesson today that rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and we're going to see how rebellion against the Holy Spirit brings forth actions that manifest themselves as witchcraft.
In Isaiah, or excuse me, in the book of Psalms, in Psalms chapter 51, and we're going to read verse 11.
Psalm 51 and 11.
Pass me not away from thy presence, and take not thy Holy Spirit from me.
This was the prayer of repentance of King David.
After he not only had committed adultery with Bathsheba, but sent Uriah his husband into battle where he knew he would be killed, he was on the ropes and he knew it.
And he was begging God, he was repenting and begging the Father not to take the Holy Spirit from him.
And God heard his prayer because his prayer come forth in true spirit, of humility and repentance.
We read in the scripture, the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit because He is the one that makes us holy.
And though our flesh be so imperfect, we must always be open to the working of the Holy Spirit to convict us of sin and to draw us closer to Him.
In 1 Peter chapter 1 and verse 2, We are elect, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit.
We spent an entire lesson not long ago talking about sanctification.
Here on our Friday Night Live broadcast, we've been going through a lot of sound doctrine.
The Bible says, in the last days men will not endure sound doctrine.
And we've been shucking the corn and putting some sound doctrine out here on Friday nights.
It is the spirit sanctification of the spirit, comma, unto obedience.
You see, there is no such thing As sanctification or love that does not result in obedience.
We can blow that up so easy from the scripture.
If you love me, keep my commandments.
The Gospel of John, chapter 14, the 15th verse.
And Jesus in verse 21 says, if you love me, I will manifest myself to you.
Not only me, but the Father also.
In 23 and 24, he lays it out real clear.
The people that don't obey me, Don't love me, and the people that obey me do.
It's that simple.
There is no sanctification, or there is no love for God, that does not manifest itself in obedience.
Elect, according to the foreknowledge of God the Father, through sanctification of the Spirit, unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ.
Grace unto you and peace be multiplied.
Amen and hallelujah.
Praise God.
I want to read a scripture in the gospel of Mark in the third chapter.
Then I'm going to read a comment by Mr. John Owen.
who wrote in the 1600s in England.
He is probably considered one of the most preeminent, if not the most preeminent, of the Puritan theologians.
In Mark chapter 3, verse 29 and 30, But he that shall blaspheme against the Holy Ghost hath never forgiveness, but is in danger of eternal damnation, because they said he hath an unclean spirit.
What a frightening thing!
To go over the line and throw your soul under the bus.
Now think about this.
To blaspheme means to speak evil of.
How about these clowns?
that talk about the female Holy Spirit.
Let me tell you, boys, when you get to that Great White Throne and stand before the Lord, the Holy Ghost isn't going to have a skirt on like the Admiral.
You better get it straight now while you can.
And it is so clear here in the Word of God that the Pharisees said that Jesus had an unclean spirit.
How Far from damnation are the people that say Jesus wasn't the sinless virgin-born Savior.
He was a created being.
Yeah, he was some kind of a little G God, but he wasn't the real God.
I tell you what, we know from John 8, verse 24, that this is damnable.
If you do not believe that I am He, Jesus said, ye shall die in your sins.
Send your saddle home, John.
We need to get it right.
Jesus is the virgin-born Savior, the sinless Savior that died on the cross.
He was Jehovah God in the flesh, and also the Holy Ghost, the Spirit of holiness.
He also is God.
He is God, and we're gonna talk about that a lot in some later lessons.
We'll probably not get into that today.
But we are absolutely going to get into the deity and the personality of the Holy Ghost.
Let me tell you what, the Holy Ghost needs a lot of attention.
We need to really know what the Word of God says about it, because there's little Johnny Jack legs on there blaspheming the Holy Ghost and deceiving people with their rank, rank stupidity.
And it's even beyond stupidity.
Yes, it is.
It's inexcusable.
It's inexcusable.
John Owen, And this is from volume three of the works of John Owen.
It's entitled the Holy Spirit because the whole volume, which is a big volume, and I tell you what, there's no fluff in it.
It's over 650 pages long, and it's just good.
It's just good stuff.
And I'm going to read a couple things here.
He says here, this is on page 56, And on this account is the opposition made between him and the unholy or unclean spirit.
And herein first, his personality is asserted.
For the unclean spirit is a person, and if the Spirit of God were only a quality or accident as some fancy and dream, there could be no comparative opposition to be made between him and this unclean spirit.
So also are they opposed with respect to their natures.
His nature is holy, whereas that of the unclean spirit is evil and perverse.
And the Spirit of God, we're going to be talking about how you can tell if the Spirit of God is manifesting in a person or if it's the unclean spirit.
Many people, we're going to look at this, that claim to be believers are actually operating under the control of unclean spirits.
Now, let's go to Exodus.
In the book of Exodus.
The book of Exodus is still good, by the way.
Just thought I'd put that out there for a newsflash for anyone who didn't know it.
And I know our regular listeners do, because we are whole Bible believers and we make a big deal out of it.
Yes, we do.
Exodus chapter 15 and the 11th verse We are very proud of Jesus and we're proud of the Bible.
Yes, we are.
And we're proud of God's law too.
And we're not ashamed of it.
We're not ashamed of the gospel.
We're not ashamed of Jesus.
We're not ashamed of the Bible.
One word of it from the beginning to end.
We love every word of it.
Amen.
And we stand on it.
Exodus chapter 15.
And verse 11, Who is likened unto thee, O LORD, among the little g-gods?
You see, there are other gods.
But they're little g-gods, the Elohim, the Elohims.
These are the fallen angels.
And when in the King James Bible we have gods with the little g-gods, we know we're talking about the Elohim, the fallen angels.
Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods?
Who is like the glorious in holiness.
He is glorious in holiness.
He never sins.
He is the radiant beauty that comes off the very presence of God would blind us if we would try to look directly upon the essence of God.
We saw a little bit of this at the Transfiguration when the earthly shell of Christ was drawn back And the powerful glory shone out as bright as the sun?
Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?
And Jesus is holy, the Holy Spirit is holy, and it's not like the God that is worshipped by the most modern people is Lucifer.
They might not know it.
But Eliphaz Levi said that the devil is just God being bad.
They don't believe in a holy, omnipotent God that is perfect.
They don't believe in a holy, inerrant Bible that will teach us truth and unmitigated truth that is not wrong in any place, shape, or form.
Now, let's go to 1 Samuel.
Let's go to 1 Samuel, and let's pick up the story of Saul.
And we're going to see how these spirits manifest.
1 Samuel chapter 15, and let's look at verse 13 and 14.
And we're going to come to the place where Saul has the kingdom ripped from him.
And it says here, And Samuel came to Saul, And Saul said unto him, Blessed be thou of the Lord, I have performed the commandment of the Lord.
Now Saul's bragging on his little self a little bit.
Yeah, I've performed.
I'm obedient.
Yeah.
Well, the commandment that came to Saul was to destroy everything, even the animals of the Amalkalites.
They were one of the purest Nephilim bred.
Even their animals were tainted.
So under the ban of the Holy War, everything was to be exterminated.
And Samuel was, or Saul was bragging on himself.
Oh, I'm all this and a bag of chips.
Oh, I'm obedient.
Oh yeah, I'm holy.
Oh boy, I've done no wrong.
All right, Saul.
And it goes on to say in verse 14, And Samuel said, What meaneth then the bleeding of the sheep in my ears?
You know, it was the word of the Lord to Saul to kill the Amalekites and their animals.
He said, Oh, I'm so obedient.
But Samuel says, well, how come I hear the bleeding of the sheep?
And there's a lot of people that say, I'm all this, I'm all that, I'm all holy, I'm all obedient.
But if you listen real close, you can hear... You can hear the bleeding of the sheep, and you know those people are just liars.
They're lying to themselves.
We've got to come to the place where we understand that the Holy Spirit is the Holy Spirit.
It's the Spirit of Holiness.
It will humble our hearts.
It will reveal our sinfulness before a holy God and drive us to our knees in repentance.
It will not produce a puffed-up, self-righteous liar like Saul.
And that's why he had the kingdom ripped from him.
Now, let's watch how this progresses.
In the 20th verse, Samuel 15 and 20, And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord.
Liar, liar, pants on fire.
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord.
You know, the prophet confronts him.
He denies his sin.
Oh, I'm holy.
I've obeyed.
All right, Mr. Mr. Baa Baa Black Sheep.
And Saul said unto Samuel, Yea, I have obeyed the voice of the Lord, and have gone the way which the Lord sent me, and have brought Agag the king of Amalek, and have utterly destroyed the Amalek.
But the people, it was the people, the people did it, you know?
But the people took of the spoil.
It was those doggone people.
It wasn't Saul, you know?
People will not take responsibility for their own actions.
They will try to blame someone else For the sin that they commit is not going to wash in front of the Holy Father.
But the people took of the spoil, sheep and the oxen, the chief of the things which should have been utterly destroyed, to sacrifice unto the Lord thy God in Gilgal.
And Samuel said, Hath the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord?
Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.
Now, a person that rebels against the voice and the commandments of God.
They might not have a pointed hat on and have a witch's book of shadows to do their witchcraft, but they operate under the spirit of witchcraft just as assuredly if they were doing full-blown rituals.
For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry, Because thou hast rejected the word of the Lord, he hath also rejected thee from becoming king.
Now, there's a very serious thing going on here.
There's a point where Saul, he sinned, He was confronted with his sin, but instead of repenting, he tried to deny it, he tried to blame it on other people.
He said, oh, I'm holy and obedient, but what was, I could just see the king there, all puffed up, you know, I'm sure he was dressed good and smelt wonderful, but he stunk in the nostrils of God.
Now there's a point, there's a point where the foolishness of man provokes the Almighty God a little too much, and one of the classic stories and examples of that in the Scripture is Saul.
And in the book of Romans, in the first chapter, and in the 24th verse, the Scripture says here, Wherefore God also gave them up.
Wherefore, God also gave them up.
He no longer strives with them.
They have vexed the Holy Spirit of God one too many times, and one of the most horrific judgments that God can put upon an individual is to leave them to themselves and no longer to convict and deal with them of their sin.
Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, through the lust of their own hearts, to dishonor their own bodies between themselves.
And that is one of the fruits of reprobation, and that is one of the most preeminent sins that we see today, not only in America, but also in Israel.
It is evidence of a people that have been given up.
In the book of Isaiah the prophet, Isaiah in the 66th chapter and the fourth verse, I also will choose their delusions.
You see, if you don't want the truth of God and if you don't want to repent of your sin in Proverbs 28 and 13, I want to turn to that and I want to read Proverbs 28 13 and this fits so well right here.
Proverbs, the 28th chapter and the 13th verse.
He that covereth his sins shall not prosper, but whoso confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.
Saul was not on the right side of that scripture, was he?
Now, over in Isaiah, chapter 66 and verse 4, I will choose their delusions.
Now, do you know what Kenneth Copeland is?
Kenneth Copeland is the judgment of God upon everyone that is silly enough to listen to him.
He is a delusion.
And you know, there are people, you know, I could take the rest of the evening talking about the crazy things that this man has done and the false doctrine that he has taught, yet there are people that are so deluded that this man could do anything and they would still follow him.
Kenneth Copeland is the judgment of God upon everyone that is silly enough to listen to him.
And God gives people up.
And when you reject the truth in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, and let me just turn and read that one.
Let me just turn and read that.
This is send-your-soul-to-hell stuff here.
This is very important.
In 2 Thessalonians chapter 2, you know, you don't want the truth, you don't want what the Bible says.
You don't have to listen, but careful, careful, in 2 Thessalonians chapter 2 and verse 10, with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish, because they received not the love of the truth, Truth is a person.
John 14, 6.
I am the way, the truth, and the life.
No man cometh unto the Father but by me.
2 John 9.
He that transgresseth and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ hath not God.
You know, I didn't write that, but I'm smart enough to, even I'm smart enough to understand that.
It's pretty clear.
You can receive the love of the truth, and receiving the love of truth doesn't say, oh, I love Jesus, I love Jesus, and then say an ever silly thing that you can hear on the internet.
Following Jesus Is following Jesus, receiving the love of the truth, is receiving the Spirit of truth.
We're going to talk about the Holy Spirit functioning as the Spirit of truth taking us back.
to what Jesus said.
I want to read the rest of this verse.
And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perished, because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.
And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion.
And according to Isaiah 66 and 4, He'll choose your delusions.
He's got a delusion for you.
If you don't want the truth, Don't worry, God will give you a delusion to occupy your time.
But the sad thing...
That they should believe a lie.
People believe a lie.
I tell you what, I've talked with Mormon missionaries.
They believe what they teach much more than most people that go through the doors of church every Sunday morning.
They're seriously wrong, but they're sincere.
They're sincere, but they're believing a lie.
Just because someone is sincere doesn't mean they're not absolutely wrong.
And verse 12, we don't want to leave out verse 12, that they all, that they all might be damned who believe not the truth but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
I want to say to everyone this morning, or this evening, it matters what you believe.
It matters what you believe.
When you reject the clear doctrine of Christ, careful, careful.
You better receive the love of the truth, instead of fighting against it, because it is damnable.
Now, let's go to 1 Kings, 1 Kings chapter 20 till.
1 Kings chapter 20 till, and I wanna read verses 21 and 20 till, and it says here, and this deals with Micaiah the prophet, He said, And there came forth a spirit, and stood before the Lord, and said, I will persuade him.
And this was to persuade the king of Israel to go into battle and to be slain.
And it says, And the Lord said unto him, Wherewith?
And he said, I will go forth and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all the prophets.
And he said, Thou shalt persuade him and prevail also.
Go forth and do so.
The false prophets were prophesying a lie.
The true message was judgment because of disobedience, and they were preaching peace and safety.
And that is a false prophetic message.
It was false then, it's false now.
And many of those that are lying prophets, we brought up one the other day, and bless their hearts, someone said, you know, this guy, what was his name?
Uh, that prophesied that Trump was going to pick a woman.
He prophesied this and within just 48 hours he was shown to be a false prophet.
And someone said, well, how dare you point call him a false prophet?
You know, that's not love.
Well, that is love.
That's love for the truth.
When people get up and call themselves prophets, they prophesize something.
And within 48 hours, it's shown to be a lie.
They need to be called out as a false prophet.
That's why false prophets hold sway over megachurches, and I tell you what, them false prophets are falling like dominoes.
And thank God for it.
Judgment begins at the house of God.
I say let it roll.
Let it roll.
Amen.
Praise God.
Hank Kuhneman.
Thank you, Brian.
Thank you, Brian.
Hank Kuhneman.
Now, Many of these false prophets, because they have rejected the truth and they teach all kinds of Tinkerbell doctrines, the Lord has allowed a lying spirit of a devil to be in them by which they prophesy, not the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit and the spirit of the devil are opposed, just like in Mark chapter three.
One is unclean, one is holy.
It's unclean to lie.
It is holy.
To tell the truth.
Now let's look at the book of Judges.
In the book of Judges, chapter 9.
Judges chapter 9, and we're going to look at the 23rd verse.
Then God sent an evil spirit.
between Abimelech and the men of Shechem, and the men of Shechem dealt treacherously with Amalek.
Well, yeah, you see, and here again, you see, the Bible talks about God using the Assyrian The second most powerful entity in the satanic hierarchy, a fallen seraphim, the Assyrian.
And God uses the Assyrian as an instrument of judgment at his will.
And here again, we see the Lord using fallen spirits to carry out his judgments.
And I tell you what, when the Lord gives you up, and takes away his hand of protection, the devils can come in and drive your car and you'll still think it's the Spirit of God.
That's what delusion is.
That's why people better hear real clear the difference in the manifestation of the Spirit of Holiness and the difference in the manifestations of the unclean spirit.
Time for a drink of coffee.
Everyone take a drink of coffee.
That's wonderful.
All right.
Let's go back to 1 Samuel.
And let's pick up the text here.
1 Samuel chapter 18.
And let's start in verse 6.
And we're going to see a door opened and saw.
We're going to see the door opened, and we see in the 15th chapter the giving up of Saul, and then we're going to see the takeover by devils of Saul's life, and the way that these manifested, and the doors that opened this up.
Now, in 1 Samuel 18, verse 6-8, we're going to see that the door that opened up the hatred of Saul toward David was jealousy.
jealousy.
And would Saul have ever admitted he was jealous?
Oh, no.
He wouldn't have admitted he was jealous any more than he would have admitted he was disobedient.
In 1 Samuel, let's read it, 18.6.
And it came to pass, as they came, when David was returned from the slaughter of the Philistine, that the women came out of all the cities of Israel, singing and dancing to meet King Saul with tablets, with joy, and with instruments of music. singing and dancing to meet King Saul with tablets, with And And the women answered one another, as they played, and said, Saul hath slain his thousands, and David his ten thousands.
Yeah, Saul slayed thousands, but David?
Now he slain ten thousand, and Saul was very wroth, and the saying displeased him.
And he said, They have ascribed unto David ten thousands, and to me they have ascribed a thousand, and what can he have more but the kingdom?
And vain imagination set in.
It was a spirit of jealousy that gave way to a vain imagination, and this was all the devil needed.
to attack his servant David.
Now let's go down to verse 10.
And it came to pass on the morrow that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul.
And this was an evil spirit that God allowed to come upon Saul because he gave him up.
He tried, he rebuked him, he sent the prophet to rebuke him.
Oh, no!
I've obeyed the voice of the Lord.
He said, well, what is the bad, bad, bad going on?
And it came to pass on the morrow that the evil spirit from God came upon Saul, and he prophesied in the midst of the house.
Now, looky here.
People can prophesy under the inspiration of devils.
That's what a false prophet is.
We saw back in 1 Kings 22 how the false prophets were prophesying by an evil spirit God allowed to come upon them because of their disobedience.
And he prophesied in the midst of the house, and David played with his hand at other times.
And there was a javelin in Saul's hand, and Saul cast the javelin, for he said, I will smite David even to the wall with it.
And David avoided out of his presence twice.
Jealousy?
Then murder.
This is the spirit of witchcraft.
Jealousy to murder.
Saul was jealous of David and he was going to kill him because a devil was now driving his car.
Absolutely.
Now let's go over to 1 Samuel chapter 19 and let's look at verses 9 and 10.
And the evil spirit from the Lord was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his javelin in his hand, and David played with his hand.
And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the javelin, but he slipped away out of Saul's presence, and he smote the javelin into the wall, and David fled and escaped into the night.
That spirit of witchcraft is murderous.
It will murder in the actual commitment of murder, and it will murder with mouth murder.
It will murder and do whatever it can to destroy.
This is something that is a clear manifestation of this unclean spirit.
Now, 1 John chapter 4 and verse 1.
1 John chapter 4.
On Sunday night, Brian and I are going to be taking 1 John chapter 2.
We're going to be peeling it back.
And doing a little Q&A.
First John 4 and 1.
Beloved, believe not every spirit.
I tell you, that's great advice for people that watch TBN and all the prophets, you know, beloved, believe not every spirit.
Good advice, good advice.
But try the spirits, and that doesn't mean try them out, but try or test the spirits, whether they are of God, because many false prophets are going out into the world.
Now just think about it for just a minute.
Here in the end of the first century, Less than a hundred years, you know, right about now, about 60 some years, 65 years since Jesus rose from the dead.
And at that time, the Apostle John said, many false prophets are gone out into the world.
You know, instead of saying, well, thank God, we've got just a whole bunch of really great preachers.
And they had a few.
But he said, Now beware, why the spirits, because many false prophets are gone out into the world.
Now, if the Apostle John had to say that 65 some years after Jesus rose from the dead, I wonder what kind of shape we're in now.
You think we might have a few false prophets out there?
I tell you what, the false prophets Outnumber the true more than a hundred to one.
I guarantee you.
We're in the last days apostasy.
We need to figure it out.
And people that play spin the prophet on on YouTube and the internet, let me tell you what, I feel sorry for you.
Every one of us is to be taught from God.
We need to hear from God herself.
Not that there isn't a legitimate gift of prophecy.
There is.
But this is so misused.
This is so misused that it is truly frightening.
Now, let's go to Galatians chapter 5.
Galatians, the fifth chapter, and we just want to welcome everyone That's being a part of this broadcast tonight.
The chat is a-poppin', and, uh, the, uh, Sister Donna, I believe, there she is in the chat, and she's going to put in the, uh, information where you can email for the webs-for the Throne Room Prayer.
Throne room prayer, August 26th at 6 p.m.
The requests are coming in for that, and we're really looking forward to that.
And yes, we are.
Galatians chapter 5 and welcome to all of our new listeners.
We love our new listeners and we're so thankful.
We're having lots of new subscribers, not only on the Underground Church, but the DOC is really growing.
We're so thankful because that's what it's all about.
Pray for us that we can get the gospel out all over this good old flat earth.
That's what it's all about.
Now, Galatians chapter 5.
Beginning in verse 19.
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these, adultery, fornication, uncleanness.
Now there we go, uncleanness.
You think uncleanness might still be a problem?
I think so.
Uncleanness lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings, and such like, of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
That means you ain't gonna be there.
Now, it doesn't matter how much people want to teach they're once saved, always saved.
If you do not repent of these things, you ain't going to be there.
The Word of God will stand, but God be true and ever man a liar.
And that's about the way it is.
Now, I want you to notice something here in verse 20.
Witchcraft.
Now, we saw in the story of Saul how that witchcraft led to jealousy, and jealousy opened up the door for murder.
Now, here after witchcraft, and John brought this out so well in a midnight ride, and under this just two weeks ago, I believe two rides ago, but after witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies. wrath, strife, seditions, heresies.
This is the fruit of that unclean spirit, and you can see it in the life of Saul, and you can see it also here right in the New Testament in the works of the flesh there.
In Matthew chapter 7, in Matthew the 7th chapter, and let's begin in verse 15, Matthew chapter 7, and in verse 15, Jesus said this, Beware of false prophets.
Yeah, you better beware.
You better beware.
Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.
Ye shall know them by their fruits.
Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles?
Even so, every good tree bringeth forth good fruit, but a corrupt tree bringeth forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit.
Every tree that bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down and cast into the fire.
Wherefore, by their fruits ye shall know them.
Let's go back to the book of Galatians.
And in Galatians, by the fruit ye shall know them.
We saw the fruit of the works of the flesh, which are the works of the unclean spirit.
And let's go to the book of Galatians.
And let's look at verse 5.
And it says here, very clearly, and I'm in Ephesians.
That ain't going to work.
Galatians 5, verse 22.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, peace, long-suffering, joy.
Gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance, against such there is no law.
These two spirits manifest themselves very differently.
It begins with rebellion and then rebellion starts functioning like witchcraft and away you go.
In James chapter 3, in James the third chapter, James chapter 3, and let's begin in verse 13. - Mm-hmm.
Who is a wise man and endued with knowledge among you?
Let him shoo out of a good conversation his works with meekness of wisdom.
But if ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, lie not against the truth.
This wisdom descendeth not from above, but is earthly, sensual, devilish, for where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle and easy to be entreated, full of mercy and good fruits without partiality and without hypocrisy.
And the fruit of righteousness is sown in peace of them that make peace.
I want to read the words of another Puritan, Mr. Thomas Manton.
And I want to read Thomas Manton's comment on this text.
They're worth hearing.
Strife in the heart is worst.
The words are not so abominable in God's eye as the will and purpose.
Strife in the heart, when it is kept and cherished there, and anger is soured into malice, and malice bereath itself by debates or desires of revenge.
Envy and strife goeth often under the mask of zeal.
Oh boy, yeah.
Envy and strife goeth often under the mask of zeal.
These were apt to glory in their carnal strifes.
It is easy to take on a pretense of religion and to baptize envious contest with a glorious name.
There's always a way to make an excuse and justify your sins.
Saul said, all the people did it.
The people brought those doggone cows.
Yeah, it was them.
Yeah, alright, Saul.
Brother Manton goes on.
Pride is his original sin, therefore called the condemnation of the devil.
1 Timothy 3.16.
Envy and slander, they are his actual sins.
He envieth lost men, he is wise to devise calmness and reproaches.
It is his work to be accusing and ripping up the sins and faults of others.
Well said, Brother Manton!
Now, let's go to Psalm 143 and verse 10, and we're going to look at another one of the names of the Holy Spirit.
In Psalm 143, Psalm 143 and verse 10, Teach me to do thy will, for thou art my God.
Thy spirit is good.
Lead me into the land of uprightness.
Thy spirit is good, the good spirit.
Let me tell you, when the Holy Spirit comes to you, just remember, He's good.
And there's that theme, it was even a song, God is good all the time.
Yes, He is.
God is good.
That's one of His attributes, and God is good all the time, and the Holy Spirit is good.
And we don't want to grieve him or vex him.
Charles Spurgeon said, his essence is goodness, kindness, holiness.
So said Brother Spurgeon in his treasury of David.
I want to go to the book of Genesis.
In the book of Genesis, chapter 1 in verse 2, we see another one of the titles of the Holy Ghost that we want to look at this evening.
He is called the Spirit of God, and also the Spirit of the Lord.
Genesis chapter 1 and verse 2, And the earth was without form and void, and darkness was upon the face of the deep, and the Spirit of God moved upon the waters.
Praise God.
Now, there's differences of opinion on this, and of course there's differences of opinion on everything.
Some people believe That the Lord created the earth as a big ball of glop.
That He created it and it was without form and void, just a big watery mess all glopped up together.
Now what I believe In verse 1, in the beginning, God created the heaven and the earth, and I believe He created it perfect.
There's a lot of scripture for that.
And then, I believe that there was a judgment of God, and this was the rebellion of Satan before Adam, and when God judged Satan, And the people before Adam.
I'm going to do that lesson here before long.
The world before Adam.
Oh yes, and there was one.
And we can see it there in our Bibles.
But, you know, so how do you know?
Did God originally create the world perfect to be inhabited?
Or did God create it a big glop and a mess?
Is there any way to know?
Well, I think there might be.
If we're going to take the Word of God As our authority.
Let's go to the prophet Isaiah.
The prophet Isaiah chapter 45 in verse 18.
And we're going to see the very same word used here.
Tohu.
Tohu wabohu is without form and void.
And we're going to see the word tohu used by the prophet Isaiah.
Did God create the world tohu?
Or did he create it perfect and it became toku because of the judgment of God upon Satan and the man before Adam?
Let's read Isaiah 45 18.
For thus saith the Lord.
Now when you hear that, you want to pay attention.
For thus saith the Lord.
Our little ears should be perked up.
For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth and made it, he hath established it, he created it not in vain, tohu, he formed it to be inhabited, I am the Lord and there is none else.
So on the authority of the word of God, the earth was not created, tohu, He created it to be inhabited, and it was.
Now, I'll show you another scripture here, where tohu wabohu, without form and void, is used together in exactly the same way that it is in Genesis 1 and 2.
Now, I want to read in Jeremiah chapter 4, Get my page turned here.
It's a fat me up in here.
Jeremiah 4, verse 23, and here we're going to see without form and void tohu wabohu used together, just like in Genesis 1-2.
There's another place in Isaiah 34, which we'll not look at this evening, but it's pretty frosty too.
But let's read this, where the prophet Jeremiah has a vision of the earth when it was tohu wabohu.
Let's look at it.
Jeremiah 4, beginning in verse 23, I beheld the earth and lo, It was without form and void, and the heavens, and they had no light.
And this is exactly what is being described in Genesis 1-2, where everything is just a big lot.
I beheld the mountains, and, lo, they trembled, and all the hills moved lightly.
I beheld, and, lo, there was no man, and all the birds of the heavens were fled.
I beheld, and, lo, the fruitful place was a wilderness, and all the cities thereof were broken down at the presence of the Lord, and by his fierce anger.
Cities, huh?
All right, well, we'll either believe it Or we'll shelve it.
And I believe it.
I believe just what the Scripture says there.
And there's a lot more.
This is a whole lesson in itself.
There's other texts about these cities from other prophets.
But that's not the purview of our lesson.
But the purview of our lesson is the name, the Spirit of God, the Spirit of the Lord.
And He is the One in creation.
He brought back Order out of chaos and Jesus, you know, He brings order out of chaos in a good way.
Now, it's not like Rahm Emanuel says, never let a good crisis go to waste.
You see a big mess?
Well, let's take advantage of that.
Order ab kale.
That is the motto of the Illuminati.
That's why I believe perfection, then chaos.
Not chaos, then perfection.
I think there's a real point to be made there.
But let's look at Luke chapter four.
In the fourth chapter of Luke, The Spirit of God brought forth order in creation, and the Spirit of God will bring forth order in your life.
It doesn't matter what kind of a mess you've made, what kind of mistakes you've made, if you will come with a humble and repentant heart, the Lord will forgive you, and He will receive you back and will restore you.
In Luke chapter 4, And we're going to begin in verse 16.
And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up.
And as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the Sabbath day and stood up for to read.
Sounds like Jesus was a Sabbath keeper, doesn't it?
Verse 17, And there was delivered unto him the book of the prophet Isaiah, And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor.
He hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, the recovering of the sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord, the Jubilee, And if you're ready to receive the truth of Jesus Christ, it's your jubilee year.
You can be set free of the debt of sin and come into the glorious liberty of the Spirit of God, that Spirit of holiness, that Spirit of the Lord that was upon Him.
And just like the Spirit of God brought order out of chaos in creation, so now also the Spirit of God will bring about order out of chaos in our lives.
He is the Spirit of the Lord.
He is the Spirit of God.
Now, let's turn to Isaiah the prophet, and let's look at chapter 61, and let's look at the text that Jesus I was quoting Isaiah 61, beginning in verse 1, and we'll see how precise the Word of God is.
The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek.
He hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound, to proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, comma, now Jesus stopped right there.
Because he didn't quote the next verse, because look what the next words are.
And the day of the vengeance of our God.
You see, that's coming.
When Jesus returns, it will be the day of the vengeance of our God.
Right there in Isaiah 61 and 1, we see where Jesus wrote that quotation.
And it was done for a purpose.
Not that that day of the vengeance of our God isn't going to happen, but it wasn't going to happen then.
No, it wasn't, but you can rest assured that it surely will.
1 Corinthians chapter 14.
1 Corinthians chapter 14.
And I tell you what, these are the days of confusion.
I tell you what, my goodness, get me going.
The crazy things that we see, it's just mass insanity and confusion.
America has turned into crazy land.
It really has.
1 Corinthians 14, verse 33, for God is not the author of confusion, but of peace.
Ah, peace!
God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all the churches of the saints, and everybody said, Amen.
I want to read another quote here from John Owen.
John Owen said this, Speaking of the Father, the relationship of the Father and the Son, the Son is from Him by eternal generation and is therefore His Son, the Son of God.
whose denomination as the Father is originally from hence.
Even the eternal generation of the Son, so is the person of the Holy Spirit from him by eternal procession or emanation.
Hence is that relationship of his to God, even the Father, whence he is called the Spirit of God.
And what Brother Owen is saying, the Spirit is eternal.
And in eternity past before time, when only the Father, the Son, and the Holy Ghost existed, the Holy Ghost and Jesus come forth from the Father to begin the Holy Ghost and Jesus come forth from the Father to begin to accomplish their work in creation and in the great plan Now,
Let's look at some of the names of the Holy Ghost that come about as His relationship with Jesus Christ.
In John chapter 16 and verse 7, nevertheless, I tell you the truth, and He always does, It is expedient for you that I go away.
It's good.
It's good for you that I die and am exalted to the right hand of the Father.
For if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you.
Jesus had to die and ascend to the right hand of the Father to send back the Holy Ghost on the day of Pentecost.
But if I depart, I will send him unto you.
And Jesus is here.
He calls The Holy Ghost, the Comforter, and the Comforter in the Paracletos, I believe is how that is pronounced.
And that means someone that is called to the aid of someone else.
How many times do we just feel like saying, help!
You know, help!
And when we cry help, the Holy Ghost is the one that Jesus sends to come to our aid, to help us and comfort us.
And it's also the same word that's used in 1 John 2 and 1, where it says that we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ, the righteous.
Same word, parakletos.
That is translated comforter in the Gospel of John.
And I tell you what, the word means just the same as a defense lawyer.
Someone that'll take your side and stick up for you and argue your case before the Father.
Amen.
What a wonderful thing to realize that the Holy Ghost is our comforter.
And He is the best comforter that we could ever have.
In the book of Galatians, in the fourth chapter, Galatians chapter 4, and let's read verse 6.
Galatians 4 and 6.
And because you're sons, God has sent forth the Spirit of His Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.
And He is the Spirit of His Son, because the Son of God, Jesus Christ, when He rose from the dead, from the right hand of the throne of glory, He sent back the Holy Ghost.
And now, because the Holy Ghost is in us, He is also called the Spirit of Adoption, we can cry, Abba, Father.
Father, that word Abba was the first word that a little Jewish baby would say, Abba.
And also, I saw on television the other day a little Muslim child, and it also said Abba, just like a Jewish one.
I don't know if all of them do that.
But I know that I heard that one say it.
I sure did.
So maybe somebody knows, but I know I heard that one little Muslim baby cry out, Abba, just like a little Jewish child would.
Now, I want to look at 1 Peter 1, verse 11.
He is the Spirit of Christ.
And this also goes in to the doctrine of the pre-existence of Christ.
1 Peter 1, verse 11, searching what or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ, which was in them, did signify when it testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ and the glory that should follow.
It was the Holy Ghost The Spirit of Christ that was in those Old Testament prophets, moving them to prophesy.
And there is no such thing as a Christian that does not have the Holy Ghost within them.
No such thing.
Now, there's a group And it teaches another gospel.
They're the UCP Pentecostals.
They deny the Godhead, aka the Trinity.
They say that if you don't speak in tongues, you haven't received the Holy Ghost.
That's another gospel.
That's not the real one.
For by grace are you saved through faith upon a repentant heart and faith in the finished work of the cross, not by performing some act Romans 8 and 9, But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit.
If so, be the Spirit of God dwell in you.
Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he's none of his.
There's no such thing as a believer that does not have the Holy Ghost within him.
Brother Owen said, It will be said, perhaps, that he is called the Spirit of Christ because he is promised, given, and poured out by him.
Very good, Brother Owen.
He is the Spirit of Christ because he is promised, given, and poured out by Christ.
Let's look how the Scripture puts it in Acts, the second chapter, and the 33rd verse.
Therefore, being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this which ye now see and hear.
Praise God!
And we did an entire teaching not long ago on the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
That's there on our Underground Church channel.
If you haven't heard it, you really need to hear it.
It's the Word of God.
Now let's go to John, the 15th chapter, and I'm going to read the other places in the Gospel of John where the Holy Ghost is called the Comforter.
John 15 and 26.
and 26. John 15, 26.
John 15, 26.
But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth Now we're going to see places where repeatedly the comforter is tied with the title Spirit of truth, because the Spirit of holiness, He is the Spirit of truth.
He brings truth to us and it is through Receiving the truth of the Spirit, that we will have peace.
And I'll read the rest of the text.
But when the Comforter has come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth which proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.
The Spirit of God will testify about Jesus to your heart that He is the Messiah of the Israel of God.
He is our sinless virgin-born Savior.
He is Emmanuel.
He is God with us.
That will be the testimony that the Holy Spirit will give to you about our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
In the 14th chapter of John, verses 15 and 16, If ye love me, keep my commandments.
Oh yeah!
And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that He may abide with you forever.
Now, if you don't keep the commandments of God, you don't need the Holy Ghost.
The Holy Ghost, according to Acts 5.32, is given to them that obey Him.
And if you're not going to obey Him, if you're not going to live holy and seek to do so, you don't need the Holy Ghost.
If you love me, keep my commandments.
And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you forever.
And in John 14, 26, what an important verse, and of course they all are.
But the comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things.
Now here we see the teaching office of the Holy Ghost, and bring all things to your remembrance.
Now, I would like, and I do, I admit, I pray sometimes when I lose my car keys.
I say, Lord, help me find my car keys.
I lose my car keys, I lose my billfold, and I think when I get to glory, there'll probably be a great big tub Of all the combs and ink pens I've lost, and I think I'll get them all back in glory.
But until then, the primary function here of the Holy Ghost is not to help us remember where our car keys and billfold are, but to remember what Jesus said, the doctrine of Christ.
Let's read it.
John 14, 26.
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
We're talking about the red letters, the doctrine of Christ.
The Holy Ghost will bring to our remembrance what Jesus said.
And when this begins to operate in your life, You are a very blessed individual.
Let's look at 1 John 2.27.
I John chapter 2 and verse 27, the Scripture says here, But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, that's the Holy Ghost, and ye need not that any man teach you, but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it has taught you, ye shall abide in him.
You don't need any man to teach you, and of course, hopefully, I'm a help to you by giving you the scriptures and pointing you to what Jesus said.
But you see, if Jesus said the tares are coming out before the wheat, you don't need to ask me or anyone else.
Our opinion.
Because if you just believe what Jesus said, you'll be good to go.
Jesus is truth, and the spirit of truth will take you back to what Jesus said.
And if we believe, you know, well, I don't interpret it that way.
Well, Jesus said, believe on me.
He didn't say, interpret me.
He said, believe on me, and you shall have eternal life.
Let's read one more.
John chapter 15 in verse 7, and this is such a good scripture.
to put together with these others.
John chapter 15 and verse 7.
And the Scripture says here, If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, does the word and the doctrine of Christ abide in you?
Paul said in Colossians, Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly.
If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you.
The doctrine of Christ dwelling in you is the key to answered prayer.
Because when we have the mind of Christ, we can ask according to His will.
And He will answer us according to His holy word and His holy will.
Well, with that, we are going to conclude our study for this evening.
Much thanks to each and every one of you.
I, oh my goodness, I think I see Brother Dan Vedandi in there.
Hey, Brother Dan!
Brother Dan's going to have a good broadcast tonight.

They sold their soul for rock and roll.
They are pure gold, and I believe he's also come out.
I don't know Brother Schimel.
I've never talked with him, but he's done a documentary against pre-trib, so he can't be all bad, can he?
So look for that tonight on the Dan Bodondi show.
Uh, and we, uh, replay Brother Dan's show over on our underground church.
