And welcome everybody to truthradioshow.com.
I'm Dan Bedandi, and we're going to study 2 Corinthians, the entire chapter, or the book, I'm sorry, chapter by chapter in this in-depth, comprehensive study of the Bible.
So we just finished 1 Corinthians about a month ago, and I'm sorry for the delay of starting this new series here.
So we're on to 2 Corinthians.
This is Paul's second letter to the church of Corinth.
So, before we get started, we'd like to do a specific Bible study approach.
Number one, we pray for wisdom and understanding.
So, join me in prayer, and Jesus, Yeshua, Messiah would come before you to ask for forgiveness, individually, of our sins that we've committed.
And we pray that you could Help us, Lord, and protect us from all the forces of evil.
And anoint us, Lord, with your precious blood.
And Father, we come before you and ask you for your divine help to give us the Holy Spirit to write your word upon our hearts today.
In this case, 2 Corinthians chapter 1.
And we love you so much, Heavenly Father.
Thank you for everything.
Amen.
So now what we do is read the scripture in context, because context is key.
It's very important to understand these steps here, guys.
Because when you understand these steps and you do these steps, the Holy Spirit literally reaches out to you and actually shows you things that you might have read a million times that you've never really seen.
So, and let the scripture interpret the scripture.
Don't lean on your own understanding.
Let the Holy Spirit interpret it into you.
Plain and simple.
So if you got a Bible guys, please open it up.
We use the King James version here.
So 2 Corinthians chapter 1 and I want to point out too because people said why use the King James?
It's kind of difficult to understand.
That's why you use the NIV whatever because it's easier to read.
Well, I want to give you a hint about these newer Bibles guys.
All the newer Bibles after.
From New King James all the way up until now, these Bibles, they changed keywords, removed keywords, removed verses, and all kinds of stuff.
And yes, easier to read, no doubt.
But, it's corrupted.
So that's why we use the Geneva, we use the King James, and the oldest Bibles.
And yeah, it might be a little difficult to read, but if you take your time, you'll get used to it, and you'll be able to understand it.
So the Bible's not meant to be read like a magazine, or a book, or a novel like that.
You need to take your time.
And sure, I can read through these verses, I don't think there's a...
Yeah, there's only 24 verses here, so we can literally read this in probably two minutes.
But that's not what we do here.
If you're looking for that, you can go to another channel, to people that can read it a million times better than me.
And I'm gonna mispronounce names and words, whatever the case, but that's not the point here.
We're here to pull the meat and potatoes, the context, out of the scripture.
So we could even spend five whole minutes on one verse, you know, whatever the case, whatever the Lord leads us.
So that's how we do things here.
So let's begin here.
So Paul, an epistle of Jesus Christ, the will of God, and Timothy, our brother, unto the church of God, which is at Corinth, with all the saints at which in Elkia.
So this is Paul and Timothy, you know, they're just traveling around to the churches to, you know, see what's going on, check up on them and all that.
In this case, the Church of Corinth went under a lot of division, as we studied in the last book, First Corinthians.
So went under a lot of division, different things going on, and Paul here is addressing these major issues.
So grace Be to you from our God, our Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ.
So, blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and the God of all comfort.
So, you notice this word comfort, right?
We're gonna get to that in a second here.
So, yeah.
So, he's telling people, you know, which he is, the Father of mercies.
And if he wasn't the mercy of the Father, he would have never sent his only begotten Son To perish for our sins.
And now he's alive forevermore.
Amen.
Who comforts us in our tribulation?
So, the tribulation basically is the trials, troubles, all kinds of stuff we go through.
He says, who comforts us in these things.
That we may be able to comfort them which are in any trouble by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted of God.
So, and this is also to do with the power of the Holy Spirit too, because as we study, the great comforter is who?
The Holy Spirit.
Jesus sent him to be the great comforter when he left.
The Holy Spirit.
So the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and grace.
So, for as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abundance in by Christ.
Now, consolation, I don't know what that meant back then, because you've got to remember some of the words.
Consolation, biblical, Bible definition.
So, some of the words change meanings over the years.
So, consolation is an attempt to comfort someone who's in sorrow.
So, this is a biblical meaning.
So, we're here.
It says in verse 5, "...for as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation," which is an attempt to comfort someone who's in sorrow, so someone who's in pain, distress, whatever, it's an attempt to comfort them.
That's what the Holy Spirit does, that's what God does.
And Christ does.
"...also abundeth by Christ." That means plentiful.
And whether we be afflicted, which is troubled, it is your consolation, again, attempt to comfort someone who is in trouble, and salvation, which is effectual in the endurance of the same sufferings which we also suffer.
So that's persecution, that's trials, tribulations, and so on.
But whether we be comforted, it is your consolation in our salvation.
Your consolation in salvation.
And you know, salvation is redemption from sin and all that stuff, and to our second life, you know?
And our hope of you is steadfast.
And let me see what steadfast means here.
I forgot, you know, there's no, and the thing is, I explained a million times, no shame looking up a word, guys.
This is what a Bible study is.
And people say, well, who cares?
It's just one word.
Well, that one word, if you don't know what it means, that could change the entire outcome of the rest.
And there's no shame in doing it.
If you don't know what it means, stop the Bible study.
Say, let me go see what that means.
Because that would affect the entire outcome.
Because if you skip words here and there, I don't know what it means, but you know, no big deal.
It is a big deal.
And especially words today.
Again, a lot of these words don't, like, uh, constellation.
Means like, uh, comforting, right?
Today, I think it's a different meaning for that, but you get the point.
So, steadfast, to be fixed or firm in a direction of purpose.
So, that means, yeah, be fixed is like unmovable.
Or firm, same thing, and a direction of purpose.
So you stay to your course.
So... In our hope of you is steadfast.
In other words, stay to the course.
Stay firm.
Knowing that you are partakers of the sufferings, so shall you be also the consolation.
So, yeah, stay to the course is saying, like, stay firm in the faith.
Knowing that you're going to be partakers of sufferings, that we are going to be tested, tried, persecuted, just as Jesus was.
Remember Jesus said that?
That the world hated me first.
They killed him.
Because they didn't like him.
And they're going to do the same thing to you.
They did it to Stephen.
And they did it to some of the apostles.
And it says, again, knowing that you are partakers of suffering.
So shall you be also the consolation.
In other words, you're going to be also comforted as well.
So yeah, the world might persecute you and everything else, but you know what?
The comfort of the Holy Spirit, the comfort of God is better than anything.
And it's worth it to be in the faith.
You know what I mean?
The world persecutes you, yeah, but it's worth it.
Because of consolation and because also the salvation you're going to have.
For we would not, brethren, have you ignorant, or troubled, which came to us in Asia." Ignorant, which means is... How do you say it?
Not like in the bad way.
It's like ignorant, in other words, you don't know.
Like you're oblivious to something, right?
So, he doesn't want to have you ignorant of our trouble.
In other words, not knowing what the trouble is about.
Which came to us in Asia.
That we were pressed out of measure, above strength, and so much that we despaired even life.
And despaired to be without hope, to give up hope in all expectations.
So, yeah, because a lot of people, like all the trials and tribulations they went through, some people just gave up.
Yeah, just gave up all hope and everything else.
So, in so much that we despaired even of life.
So, you saying about the, you know, what they dealt with in Asia.
Like the heavy persecution and all that.
That they were pressed out of measure, in other words, they were pushed beyond their limits and everything else, above strength and so much, that we despaired even less.
So he's not saying him in particular, but people of the faith were overwhelmed of what happened to them, and they literally just gave up.
But we had the sentence of death in ourselves.
That we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raised the dead.
So he's trying to say, when you go through this stuff, don't trust yourself.
I'm going to pull myself out of this.
I'm going to do this.
No, you give it to the Lord.
Because again, it says, but we had sinned to death of ourselves.
That we should not trust ourselves, but in God who raised the dead.
So put your trust in God.
When you go through all kinds of tribulations and pain, guys, and you're like, I'm gonna climb my way out of this, or I give up, or whatever, stop all that.
You need to put your full trust in the Lord.
Again, but in God which raised the dead, who delivered us from the great death, the great of death, And both deliver and whom we trust that He will yet deliver us.
So, yeah, every man is appointed to die once.
But, are you going to die for the second time or are you going to go to the second life?
So that's why you need to put your trust in the Lord and your faith in the Lord because even when you die, okay, putting your trust and faith in the Lord, it's going to resurrect you.
It's going to bring you to the second life.
And you also helping together by praying for us.
Pray for us, right?
Pray, I'm sorry, for us.
That the gift bestowed upon us by the means of many persons, thanks be given by many on our behalf.
So praying for people is a big thing.
You know, we always have prayer requests and everything else.
It's a big, big thing.
And don't be ashamed to put your name in the prayer request, because when you have people praying for you, it's a beautiful thing.
And for the gift given, you know, blessed to us, bestowed upon us, by the means of any persons, many persons, I'm sorry, sorry guys, it's had a long night.
Yeah, so anyway, by the means of many persons, so many people praying for you, and thanks may be given by many on our behalf.
For our rejoicing is this, the testimony of our conscience, that in a simplicity and godly sincerity, not with fleshly wisdom, but with grace of God, So, don't rely on your personal wisdom, the fleshly wisdom, right?
But it's simple, it really is.
Rejoice in the testimony of our conscience.
That's the Word of God that's been sent into our hearts and minds, right?
The knowledge of the Lord, and what He's taught us.
In simplicity, it's easy, just simple.
In godly sincerity, and not with fleshly wisdom, you know, just your wisdom, but the grace of God, we have had our conversation in the world, and more abundantly to you.
For we write none other things unto you than what we read or acknowledge, and I trust you shall acknowledge even to the end.
Even to the end, like even to the day of your death, acknowledge this stuff, the Word of God and all that, let it emanate in your heart, in your work of life.
As also, you have acknowledged us in part.
Acknowledge, I'm sorry.
You have acknowledged us in part.
That we are your rejoicers, even as you are also I'm sorry, you are, yeah, also of our hours and the days of the Lord.
So this is why you got to slow down.
And that's, that's my problem.
That's why I keep stuttering over here.
Skip.
Cause I got to slow down and actually read it, you know, cause it's old King James Version.
So it's old English.
But it's easy to understand when you slow down.
Unlike what I just said, but yeah.
And you know, I apologize about the stumbling there.
So one more time.
As also you, ye as you, have acknowledged us in a part.
In other words, you probably somewhat acknowledge us.
That we are your rejoicing.
Even as you also are ours in the day of the Lord Jesus Christ.
And in the confidence I was minded to come onto you before that you might have a second benefit.
So Noah's praying for you and all that is like rejoicing for you.
You know, it's awesome.
And praying for you helps you as well.
Because some people like, you know, people, especially new in the faith and all that, that they don't know too much, but, you know, there's a lot of doubt that creeps into you.
Even to people who study the Bible all the time, there's doubt that creeps into you all the time.
And you need to fully acknowledge the Word of God, you need to trust the Word of God.
And to pass by you in Macedonia, And to come again out of Macedenia unto you.
And this is Paul saying, you know, coming to Corinthia.
We pass by you, we pass by Corinthia into Macedenia.
And to come again out of Macedenia and not to you.
So that's what he's saying, that they went, him and Timothy, they went to Macedenia, they passed Corinth to go to Macedenia.
And they came out of Macedenia and to Corinthia.
And of you, to be brought on my way toward Judea.
So he's saying after we leave here, we're going to Judea.
And when I therefore was thus minded, did I use lightness for the things that I purpose?
Do I propose, sorry, according to the flesh, that with me you shall be yea yea and nay nay?
So he's asking, are you going to be, yeah yeah is yes and nay nay is no.
Or yeah yeah is yes and nay nay is no.
So he's asking you, are you going to be purposed according to the flesh?
And that with me there should be a yes or no, plain and simple.
Asking the question, right?
But as God is true, our word toward you was not yes or no.
For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvianus and Timothys, was not yea and nay, was a yes and no, he's saying, but in Tim, him, I'm sorry, was yes.
So he's saying, you know, we preach the Word of God to you.
And it wasn't a yes or a no, whatever, it was yes.
You know, that's sincere.
You're sincere about it, right?
So, for all the promises of God in Him are yes.
And in Him, amen.
And unto the glory of God by us.
So, all the promises of God are legit.
But, you know, believe in 100%.
Because God promises something, it's going to happen.
Now He which stabilizes us with you in Christ and has anointed us is God.
And again, it's not saying, I guess I'm bringing this up a lot, it's not saying you're God, no.
It's saying He has anointed us is God.
God anoints us.
So, because some people twist that and say, oh yeah, it's New Ages especially.
That shows I'm a god.
No.
Now I want to point out real quick too, guys.
I've said this a million times probably.
But it's always good to know because you got scoffers out there who work their way, like Stephen Dawkins and all these blokes out there who try to debunk the Bible or you know, whatever the case.
All these new ages say the Bible talks about gods, you know, as if there's real gods.
No.
So I just want to point out when, um, anytime you see in the Bible the word God or gods, The only time it's capitalized is when it's referring to our Father.
The only time.
Every other time when it's a lowercase g, it's referring to a false god or gods.
Same thing with Lord, right?
Because evil people call Baal Lord.
Does it mean that Jesus Christ is Baal?
Because a lot of people say that too.
Oh yeah, Jesus is Baal because they call him Lord.
No, that's not true.
People worship Baal because they call him Lord.
Yeah, but that doesn't mean he's Lord.
That's why when it talks about Baal being Lord, right?
Or people addressing him as Lord, it's a lowercase l. And the only time you see Lord capitalized is when it was referring to Jesus Christ or our Heavenly Father.
That's it.
I want to point that out.
It's good to know.
Good little spiritual warfare there.
So, who has also sealed us?
Let me go back here.
So, now what's established with us, with you in Christ, and has anointed us is God.
So, who has also sealed us and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.
Like I said, you know, we asked in prayer today to have this Holy Spirit write the Word on our hearts.
It's given us the earnest, right?
In earnest, there's a...
Let me see here.
A pledge or token given as an assurance of fulfillment of a bargain or promise.
Thank you.
So that's what earnest means.
who has also sealed us and given us a Pledge of Token as given as assurance of fulfillment of the bargain of promise and of the Spirit in our hearts.
And moreover, I call God for a record upon my soul, that to spare you I came not as yet unto Corinth, for not, I'm sorry, for that we have not have dominion over your faith.
Not for what we have dominion over faith, but our help is of your joy.
For by faith you stand.
So you say, we don't have dominion over your faith.
So if we're not for what we have, then that means we don't have for dominion or faith.
But our help is of your joy.
For by faith you stand.
And it's only by faith that you can stand.
Yeah?
So we're going to get on to chapter 2 at the next video.
And again, we do chapter by chapter, verse by verse.
So if you've got any questions or comments or anything like that, please put it in the comment section, not the live chat when it premieres, but the comment section and I'll get back to you and do the best I can to answer that.
So, um, don't take my word or anybody else's word for it.
Read it for yourself.

And I apologize it took this long, guys, because when we finished First Corinthians, I ended up getting sick.
I had come down with pneumonia and all kinds of stuff happened over the last couple of months.
And so I'm glad to be back here teaching the Word of God.
And it really is an honor.
It really is.
And to teach this in-depth conference to study the Bible.
