TruthRadioShow.com Shalom and welcome to the Dan Bedani Show on TruthRadioShow.com and welcome to the book of 1 Corinthians We are now on to chapter 8.
Chapter 7 was a great lesson on marriage and sex and marriage and everything else and divorce.
So awesome chapter that was.
So we're on to chapter 8 now.
This is an in-depth comprehensive study of the Bible.
So what we do is we do chapter by chapter, verse by verse and get all the meat and potatoes out.
In full context with these verses, I have to say.
So we do a specific Bible study approach, and number one is praying for wisdom and understanding.
So, Jesus, Yeshua, Messiah, we come before you, and please forgive us individually of the sins that we've committed today.
And we ask you to purify us, Lord.
And make us whole, and thank you for everything you've done for us, and we are forever grateful for you, Lord.
And Heavenly Father, we come before you and ask you again for a divine intervention today that you can help disseminate the word, your word, upon our hearts, right upon our hearts, with the Holy Spirit.
In this case, 1 Corinthians chapter 8.
We ask you in your mighty name, we ask you also to protect us all from the forces of evil, protect this platform, and bless us all with great health, Lord, and love you so much.
And we are just forever, as well, grateful for you and everything you've done for us, especially sending your son to die for our sins, and even though we don't deserve it, but you did it anyway, and we love you for that so much.
In your mighty name, amen.
So we read the scripture in context, because context is key, and let the scripture interpret the scripture.
These are basically the rules that we follow.
This way we get the full understanding of the scripture.
And don't lean on your own interpretation, of course.
You know, let the Holy Spirit work with you.
So, if you've got a Bible guide, open up to 1 Corinthians chapter 8.
So Paul continues on as the last chapter we talked about marriage, sex, and everything else, and divorce and all that.
So chapter 8, Paul continues on.
He said, now as touching things offered up into idols, we do not, I'm sorry, we know that we have, all have knowledge, knowledge puffed up, but sure, or the edified, right?
So now as touching things offered up to idols.
So what's that mean?
Like, especially back then, pigs and a lot of pork stuff, unclean animals, would be the things offered up into idols.
And certain incense and all that, like burnt sages and all that stuff, but these are things that are orphaned up into idols.
I'm not touching these things.
And it says that we have all knowledge, knowledge puffed up, but charity edifies.
Right?
And if any man think that he knows anything, He knows nothing as he ought not to know.
So basically the people think they know everything, they don't know nothing.
But if any man loves God, the same is known of him.
That God loves him.
and as concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice to idols we know that an idol is nothing in the world and that there is none other than God but one so this is basically concerning will be the second commandment idol tree idol trees and we'll read that here
second commandment KJV and it's Exodus 20 so I should have known that by heart but yeah Exodus 20 so read the whole second commandment so you get a good understanding of this right there
So, thou shalt not make any engraving images or likenesses of anything that is in heaven above or the earth or beneath or the water underneath the earth.
You shall not bow to them.
You shall not serve them.
For I am the Lord your God, and I am a jealous God.
This is the iniquity of the fathers upon the children of the dirt and the fourth generation of them that hate me.
So that's the fourth commandment, uh, second commandment.
For there be called gods, and now again, I have to point this out, see the word gods?
Notice how it's a lowercase g. Anytime in the Bible where you see an uppercase G, a big G, that's referring to God, Heavenly Father.
No other time will we ever see a capital G.
So, for there be that are called gods, whether in heaven or in earth, there be as gods many and lords many.
So, he's saying that people, there's a lot of people in the, you know, DVDs that people call Lord and God.
Now, I want to remind you again, especially the word God.
Low KC, right?
And look at the word Lords.
Every time you see the word Lord or Lords, if it's a capital L, the word Lord, you'll never see Lords or Gods capitalized.
But you see, the word God, referring to our Heavenly Father, will be capitalized, and the word Lord will be referred to Jesus.
With a capital L. But these are not capitals, so I want to point that out, because a lot of New Ages will use this against you.
They'll say, oh, the Bible says we're Gods and Lords and everything else.
No, that's not what the Bible is saying.
The Bible will refer us, because people do call themselves gods and lords, and the Bible says that, yeah, but it doesn't say, well, actually, lords are gods, because they'll use the lowercase g, so I want to point that out so people understand that.
But to us, there is but one God, capital G, look at that, one God, the Father of whom all things, and we in Him, and one Lord, capital L, look at that, capital L, Jesus Christ.
So again, capital G is referring to the Heavenly Father.
Capital L is referring to Jesus Christ.
You'll never see a capital L or a capital G referring to anybody else but them.
By whom are all things?
And we went by Him.
However, there is not even a man that knowledge, for some with conscience of idols unto the hour eat, as it offered unto an idol, and a conscience being weak and defiled.
So, we talk about things offered up unto idols, right?
And again, it's usually a pig.
Or some kind of a hog or something like that.
Or a wild boar or whatever.
These are things that we're commonly offered up to idols.
Like unclean food.
And a conscious being weak is defiled.
Because they have no conscious doing it.
So, defiling ain't self-excusing.
But meat commandeth us not to God.
For neither we eat, nor we are the better, neither we eat not.
We are the worse.
So, the meat here, orphaned up into these false idols, we're not supposed to eat.
Neither if we eat, we are the better.
Neither if we don't eat it, we are the worse.
But take heed, least by any means, this liberty of yours becomes a stumble block to them that are weak.
So, again, we talk about this a lot of times, like, the Bible does not at all condone eating pigs.
Pork is never condoned in the Bible at all.
Jesus or the apostles didn't eat that stuff.
I mean, I'm sure the apostles might eat it when they were, before they were saved.
But you'll never see in the Bible where people of God, Old or New Testament, have eaten any kind of pork.
You know, it's amazing, it really is, that people just don't read things right.
And I'm not claiming to be, I'm no scholar or nothing like that.
not idols, temple, shall not conscious of him, which is weak and unboiled, and eat those things which are often entitled.
You know, it's amazing.
It really is.
People just don't read things right.
And I'm not claiming, I'm no scholar or nothing like that.
But we've been through this, you know, how many books already?
Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, Acts, Romans, now 1 Corinthians, and the things that people say that are abolished, or, you know, that we're allowed to do now, and so far, reading through this, yeah, no, the Bible never says these things.
The Bible never says the Ten Commandments are abolished.
In fact, it emphasizes the Ten Commandments.
It never says it's okay to eat pork.
And this is Paul, like, sitting here telling these people, don't eat this stuff.
Especially things that are offered up to idols.
And through my knowledge shall weak brothers perish, for whom Christ died.
But when you sin so against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, ye sin against Christ.
Wherefore, if meat make my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world stands, lest I make my brother to offend.
So he's saying, if the meat makes my brother to offend, I will eat no flesh while the world stands, lest I make my brother offend.
So I was supposed to talk about specifying, again, meat offered up to idols.
And if you actually read through the Old Testament and everything else, you'll find out the foods that were always offered up to idols, not to repeat myself, it's a short chapter here, but not to repeat myself, but the food offered up to idols was always an unclean animal.
Now the Bible specifically tells you what's clean and what's not clean.
And a pig was, or a hog, or some kind of thing like that.
Or pork, basically.
It was definitely one of the biggest animals used in the sacrifices to idols.
And they would eat the meat afterwards.
Like a pig roast or whatever a lot of people do in the summertime.
I got invited to a couple of those things and I just didn't go.
Cause, you know, the point is I'm sitting there and they got a big pig on the grill.
It doesn't gross me out.
But just looking at it, it's like, wow, it's like, you know, it just reminds you of this old Babylonian idol worship.
Not that they're worshiping idols or anything like that.
Just the point that, you know, they were offering up this food for everybody to eat.
Everybody's like digging away at this giant pig that's in the grill.
Yeah, it's sickening.
It really is.
And here's the thing too, if you really think about it, because the Bible gives you reasons, okay, not to eat these things.
There's a big reason for that.
Because there's no nutritional value in pork.
None.
There's an old saying, you are what you eat.
So if you understood what a pig ate, you can literally throw your feces, your poop, at a pig, and a pig will eat it.
Pigs eat anything, like the land cleansers.
They're great for farms.
You throw all the scraps in there and everything else, and they'll eat it.
But they're not meant to be eaten.
They're an unclean animal for a reason.
A real good reason.
Even to this very day, pork is still one of the biggest food borne illnesses out there.
Even when you do cook it right, you know, it's not good for you.
At all.
And I'm sure people say, well I like my bacon for breakfast.
Well, there's turkey bacon.
At least that's got some nutritional value.
That's got some protein to it.
Yeah, people come up with all kinds of excuses.
It doesn't matter what you say to them.
They'll always come up with some kind of excuse.
Oh, it's okay to eat pork.
I'm not going to go to hell for eating pork and all that stuff.
You'll hear them say that all the time.
This is a smack in the face to God.
Eating things, it weakens you, as Paul says.
Eating things often up to idols.
It's weakening you and it's a spit in the face to Christ.
And you should have the knowledge, okay, not to eat the stuff.
Thank you.
Then you get the people out there, well, the laws we're done away with, we're not, no, no, not at all.
Jesus never said, okay, it's not, alright, we can eat meats now.
Oh yeah, unclean food, I mean.
No, he never said that.
So it's only 13 verses of the chapter.
So it's going to be a relatively short video.
So I just wanted to point that out there, guys.
And we'll get to chapter 9 in the next video.
I would like to do chapter 9 in the same video.
But I want to just keep it chapter by chapter.
This way we can sit there and dwell on it.
So if we go over it one more time.
Now is touching things offering up to the idols.
So he's concerned about touching things offering up to the idols.
That we know we all have knowledge.
Knowledge puffed up, but the charity in it.
And if any man think that they know anything, he knows nothing, yet as he ought to know.
Because he should know better not to touch it in the first place.
But if any man loves God, the same is known of him.
People that love God should know better, plain and simple.
As concerning, therefore, the eating of those things offered up in sacrifice to the idols, and it's not just pork, it's many unclean things you shouldn't be eating.
We know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is none other than God but one.
And again, I just want to point that out, too.
About the gods and everything.
You know, gods and God and Lord and all that stuff.
One more time, I want to emphasize this, guys.
Very important to understand spiritual warfare because, again, not to repeat myself, but the New Ages use this all the time.
There's so many passages in the Bible that says, oh, you know, they'll point out, say, oh, this is God saying that you're a god or a lord.
Well, there's other gods and all that.
No, that's not what it's saying.
Again, low case G, I want to point that out.
Any kind of God of gods with a low case G is a false God of gods. - Yes.
Any lord or lords with a lowercase l, they're false lords.
And then one more time, the only time the g in god is capitalized, as we refer to the Father, and the only time the l for lord is capitalized, we refer to Jesus Christ.
The king of kings, the lord of lords.
That's why you'll see all capitalists.
For a reason.
But you won't see that for anybody else.
Because you got some blokes out there who'll be like, oh, you know, Jesus is the same thing as Baal, because they called him lord.
No!
The Babylonians called him lord, yes.
They called Baal lord.
But you'll see it's a low case l.
There's many other deities too that are Babylonians and Philistines and all called Lord, or God, but they're lowercase l's and g's.
And again, there's many people, a few times, sorry, in the Bible where the scripture referred to somebody as gods or gods, but it's lowercase g, referring to a false god, a false deity.
So I want to point that out, guys, because it's very important to understand and know.
That's why you need to read the scripture carefully, because again, the New Age cultists will throw this right at you.
And if you don't know your stuff, guys, they're going to catch you off guard.
So always pay attention to the wording, the spelling, and the capitalization, the grammar of it.
That's very important to understand that.
This is why the Bible needs to be read carefully.
Yeah, there's 13 verses we can write to it in like two minutes.
Not even.
But that's not what I'm supposed to do.
You know, that's why the context is important to fully understand what's going on.
And if you're not, you know, like I say this all the time, if you don't know what a word means, go look it up.
There's no shame in that.
I do that all the time.
So guys, thank you for joining here and don't take my word or anybody else's word for it.
