truthradioshow.com And welcome to the Dan Bedon show on truthradioshow.com and welcome to the book of Romans chapter 7 and our in-depth comprehensive study We do chapter by chapter.
So, uh, before we get started, we do a specific Bible study approach.
Uh, this is what we do before every show.
Again, we do chapter by chapter only.
Uh, so welcome.
If you actually, if you just tune into this guys, uh, please go watch chapter one before you go any further.
And we do got Matthew, Mark, Luke, John, and Acts, the whole entire books in the series here in the playlist.
So, uh, Let's begin with a prayer of wisdom and understanding.
So, Jesus, Yeshua, Messiah, we confess our sins to you, and please forgive us as we sin daily, Lord, and we're sorry, and just thank you for being such a merciful God.
And Heavenly Father, we come before you, our Heavenly Father God Almighty, and we ask you for divine wisdom, and help us discern your word today, and disseminate your word, I'm sorry, and give us the divine Holy Spirit to teach us the word of God.
And to write upon our hearts.
And today, Romans chapter 7, we ask you that you can have the Holy Spirit write Romans chapter 7 upon our hearts.
And we ask you to help everybody out there that's going through any kind of problems, Lord, and just comfort them and protect us all from the forces of evil, especially in these modern day times.
Everything's just going haywire.
And we ask you to, now more than ever, give us all wisdom and courage and understanding and faith, even more faith.
And protect us all, Lord.
In your mighty name, we love you so much.
And thank you for being there for us.
Thank you for sending your Son in the flesh to die for us at Calvary.
And thank you for everything.
And just thank you for just remembering us, especially through this, these apocalyptic times coming in.
That we're in apocalyptic times, as you say.
And we look forward to your Son coming to the clouds of great power and glory.
Amen.
So that being said guys, we need a description and context because context is key.
It's very important as we demonstrated in the last video.
And let the scripture interpret scripture!
So, that being said, let's go to chapter 7.
If you've got a Bible, open it up.
Especially on shakenwakeradio.com, audio edition, open up chapter 7.
And we've got it up on the screen as well.
So, regardless, if you want to open your own Bible up, go for it.
So, as we continue from chapter 6 here, chapter 6, we really laid into it.
Paul was, you know, basically debunking this dispensation.
It's garbage.
It tells people, you can do whatever you want because you're saved by grace, right?
And he says twice, yeah, no, you can't.
God forbid.
Yeah, you say it by grace, but it doesn't mean you can transgress the law.
Right?
So, continuing on, verse 1, Paul is saying, Know ye not, brethren, for I speak to them that know the law.
So, he's speaking to people who know the law, right?
How that the law has dominion over man as long as he lives.
He's saying, how does the law have dominion over man as long as he lives?
For a woman, which has a husband, is bound by the law to her husband so long as he lives.
But if the husband is dead, she is loose from the law of her husband.
So, as you know, like a biblical marriage, yeah.
The woman has to abide by the husband.
You know, it doesn't mean the husband's better.
I have to explain this every time.
It doesn't mean he's like the King Honcho, no.
He's the head of the family.
And she's obligated to abide by, under the husband.
The husband's under Jesus.
Alright?
The wife and children under the husband.
That's the way it goes.
So then, if, while her husband lives, she married to another man, she'd be married to another man, she called, she'd be called an adulteress.
So, if her husband's living, and the Bible's very clear about, and I don't know if people aware of this, when a woman marries a man, right, you can't divorce a man or whatever, you're not supposed to get divorced over stupid things.
Because they don't satisfy you anymore or anything, stuff like that.
That's not how it works.
In today's world, they think it does, but when you get divorced and you marry somebody else, it's adultery.
Plain and simple.
Plain and simple.
Or if you cheated on somebody and you guys get divorced over it, you can't marry somebody else biblically.
God's not going to honor that marriage.
I don't care if you and that person has gone to church a million times.
We explain this through the, I think, Matthew.
So then, if her husband lives, and she ends up marrying another man, she shall be called an adulteress.
But if her husband is dead, she is free from that law.
So that she is no adulteress.
Though she may be married to another man.
So basically, if you're a lady up there, right?
If your husband dies, you're free from that bond.
Then yes, you can go marry another person.
A widower is allowed to marry somebody else.
But as long as that person lives, you're under that umbrella.
Regardless if you got a divorce from them or not, you're still under that umbrella.
You're not supposed to marry another person.
I don't make the rules, God does.
So, before I get yelled at here.
So wherefore, my brethren, you also are become dead to the law by the body of Christ.
That you should be married to another, even to him who is raised from the dead.
That we should bring forth fruit unto God.
So, again, we get into the law stuff, right?
And this is what the dispensationalists will misuse out of context.
They're trying to say this is proof that we're, you know, we don't have to abide by the law.
When you say there's transgression of the law, Jesus says repentance from sin.
Right?
But this is not saying it's okay to break the law.
Before Jesus, right, we had the law.
That's how we were saved.
We had to do sacrifices, all that stuff.
That's how we were atoned for sin.
Even that then wasn't good enough.
But when Jesus came, he became the new atonement for sin.
And it's like us getting divorced from the old, you know, your spouse dying, now you're free to marry somebody else.
And that's Jesus.
And the church speaking it.
And a lot of times in the Bible, it mentions the bride and groom, referring to the church and Jesus.
So when we were in the flesh, the motions of sins, which were by the law, did work in our members to bring forth fruit into death.
Because again, like yeah, even though they were under the law, people still sinned.
But what was the atonement for the sin?
You couldn't have enough atonement.
You know what I'm saying?
So, What this is saying, okay, if you lived under the law, and again, it's not saying the laws are abolished, don't get this confused.
If you lived under the law, there's nothing you could do for remission of sin.
But through Jesus Christ is the ultimate remission of sin.
But now, we are delivered from the law that being dead we're in, we are held.
That we should serve in newness of spirit and not in the oldness of the letter.
So again, there's the last chapter we explained, right?
And the last chapter is saying, yeah, grace is not a free pass to sin.
It's not a free pass to transgress the law.
but it's a new start for us that we become new in the body.
So what shall we say then?
Is the law sin?
So, again, people say, is the law sinning?
No, God forbid.
Nay, that means no.
You say, no, I'm not saying the law is sin.
I'm not saying the law is bad.
I had not known sin by the law.
For I had known lust, except the law had said, those shall not covet.
Right, that's the tenth commandment.
But sin takes occasion by the commandment.
Wanton me or man of conspicuous... I can't even say that.
Concupiscence... Sorry, guys.
For without the law, sin was dead.
So, he's saying without the law, sin was dead.
There would be no sin.
So, he's not saying the sin... I mean, I'm sorry.
He's not saying the law is, like, no good or nothing.
And now I find out what this word means.
C-O-N-S.
It means strong sexual desire.
Concupiscence.
Strong sexual desire.
Lust.
Alright, so now we know what that means.
So, but sin takes occasion by commandment, wrought in me of manner of strong sexual desire and lust.
For without the law, sin was dead.
For I was alive without the law once, because Paul was a Roman, remember that?
He didn't grow up in the Jewish laws, he was a Roman.
So there was no law for them, there was no commandments.
They didn't follow no commandments.
Rome was a pagan place, right?
But when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.
So, if you can understand what he's saying here, right?
Again, if you take things out of, like I said all the time, if you take the Bible, uh, single verses, right?
And you can misinterpret it easily, but you can't misinterpret it when you read it in context.
For now, he's saying, right?
Look, look.
For I was alive without the law once, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died.
Because what?
Sin is transgression in the law.
Violating the law, that's what transgression means.
And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.
Because of the laws and all that, it brought him to death.
Because, you know, again, it's our covenant.
For sin, taken occasion by the commandment, deceived me.
And by it, it slew me.
And again, he's not saying the commandment's deceiving.
The sin is.
Right?
And it slew him, because it convicted him.
Wherefore, the law is holy.
So why would he say the law is holy if the laws are abolished?
Or they don't matter, right?
He said, wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment is holy, and just as good.
See, this is what the dispensationalist churches leave out.
They'll read a couple of these verses where it was at here.
Which might sound like the law doesn't matter, right?
But he says, look, God forbid.
God forbid, right?
And he explains it when you read in context.
He goes, the law is holy.
And the commandments holy.
The laws and the ten commandments are holy.
And just.
They're holy and just.
And good.
So you can clearly see he's not sitting there to say that the laws and commandments are dead.
Or the laws and commandments are abolished.
No.
Yes, we're married into a new husband, you know, Jesus.
But it doesn't mean that he's a dead.
You know what I mean?
They're holy.
They're from God.
So, was then which is good made deaf unto me?
Because they convict you.
The thing is, the laws and commandments, you violate them, they convict you.
If you don't violate them, you don't have to worry about it, but if you violate them, they convict you.
So it makes death unto you.
So again, Paul asks, Was then that which was good made death unto me?
Sorry guys.
He says, God forbid.
But sin that might appear as sin works death in me by which is good.
That sin by the commandment might become exceedingly sinful.
And again, he's not saying the sin of the commandment is... I'm sorry, the commandment of the law is bad.
He's saying it's a sin.
Under the commandment.
So basically, if you get caught stealing, right?
It's the 6th commandment... I'm sorry, the 8th commandment.
In the Bible, right?
Stealing is the 8th commandment.
Violation, right?
They should not steal.
Like in the world here, right?
Going to a store and rob something, right?
Stealing.
Yeah, you gotta go to jail.
Doesn't mean you could do it.
You know what I mean?
You gotta go to jail.
For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, so done the sin.
Sorry, he's saying that the law is spiritual.
For that which I do, I allow not.
For what I would, that I do, I do not.
That I do, I do not.
But what I hate, that I do.
It's a little tongue tie there.
Tongue twister, you know what I mean?
So yeah, let me break this down here.
And he says, for that which I do, I allow not.
What I do, I don't allow it.
And for what I do, that I do not.
But what I hate, that I do.
So he's saying he hates the seven.
You know, we all hate seven.
A repentant of heart, you gotta hate seven.
If then I do that which I would not, In other words, if you do something you don't want to do, yeah, I consent unto the law that is good.
Because again, if you, say, you lusted after a man or a woman, right?
And you're married, or whatever case, still adultery anyway, so you committed adultery, right?
Under the law, that's bad, so it's adultery.
It's a Seventh Commandment violation.
Now, then it is no more that I do it.
But sin, that dwells in me.
So the sin dwells in you when you do this stuff, right?
When you violate... Again, sin is what?
Transgression of the law.
That's what it means.
And Jesus says to repent from sin.
That means get away from sin.
Turn away from it.
That means turn away from transgression of the law.
Violating the law.
For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwells no good day.
So he's saying, Paul's saying, in me, in my flesh, there's nothing good at all.
And that's the same for me.
That's the same for you listening out there.
In our flesh, there's nothing good, guys.
And regardless how much we study scripture and all that, every day we sin.
We have filthy hearts.
Okay, yeah, I'm not saying we don't do good things for people or whatever.
Yeah, we do.
But still, we have filthy hearts at the end of the day.
We don't deserve him.
We don't.
And we're convicted by the law.
But through Jesus Christ, okay?
Through Jesus Christ we are saved.
That's what grace does.
But the law convicts us.
And we repent of those sins and it doesn't convict us no more.
That's what Paul's trying to explain.
For to will is present with me But how to perform that which is good, I find not.
So we all struggle from sin.
For the good that I do, I do not.
But the evil which I do, I would not.
That what I do.
It's a little tongue twister here.
So you gotta just take your time and break it down, right?
One at a time.
It says, for the good that I do, I would.
The good stuff that you would do, right?
You don't.
You should, but you don't, right?
But the evil which you do, I would not.
In other words, you're not going to intentionally do it.
But the evil, we do evil every day, guys.
And no, we don't intend to do it, but we do.
That's what Paul's saying.
That I do.
Now, if I do that, I would not.
So, basically, if you do something you would normally don't, right?
It is no more than I that do it.
But sin that dwells in me.
Because he's saying, if you do something sinful, right?
That you don't even want to do.
You know what I mean?
You normally wouldn't even want to do.
But he did it anyway, right?
It's because you have sin that dwells in you.
And if you've got any questions, comments, or anything like that, please put it in the comment section.
Not the chat, but the comment section.
So I'm just trying to explain this as best as I can.
So, I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me.
For I delight in the law of God after the inward men.
So he says he delights in the war of God inwardly, right?
But I see another war in my members.
So, in members like, uh, it could be body parts, whatever the case are, or just things you do.
Warring against the war of my mind.
And bringing me into captivity to the war of sin.
Which is in my members.
It could be anything, right?
And I'm just trying to understand here.
Basically, alright, I think this is what it's saying here.
Like, every day, right?
Like, us guys, okay?
We struggle with sin.
Like, you know, sexual sin, right?
When you see, especially the way girls dress these days, forget it.
Like, even in the churches, it's ridiculous, right?
In your mind, okay, things are gonna happen.
In your mind.
You can't help it, but it happens, okay?
That's the sin within.
And it takes you captivity.
Then, all of a sudden, you become under the law.
But, through grace, that's when it pulls you out.
Jesus, please forgive me for thinking that, you know what I mean?
You turn your head away, saying, oh man, I'm, you know, just, Jesus, please forgive me for doing that.
It's grace that's going to save you.
I hope this makes sense to you guys.
But, this is Paul saying that, you know, he himself struggles with sin.
And it's because of grace, yeah, the law will convict us.
The law will convict us.
It doesn't mean, again, it doesn't mean we are okay to break the law, no.
That's not what it's saying.
For the dispensationalists out there, that doesn't say that.
Alright?
As we explained vividly in the last chapter.
But when we sin, we are convicted by the law.
In other words, if you kissed another woman, right?
You know you committed adultery.
That's being convicted by the law.
The commandments, right?
The 7th commandment.
If you, um, seen a hundred dollar bill on the counter, right?
At the store.
You looked around, there's no cameras, right?
And you just took the hundred dollar bill, right?
You know you stole.
And you feel like crap afterwards, right?
In regards to whether you got caught or not, you're still convicted by the law.
They're sending you.
And he says, oh wretched man that I am.
Who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Who shall deliver me?
He's asking, who shall deliver me from the body of this death?
Right?
And it's Jesus, of course.
He says, oh look, all wretched man that I am.
This is Paul saying, I'm a wretched man.
Look at this whole chapter, he convicted himself.
Every one of us are the same, guys.
I don't care if you're a pastor out there, I don't care if you serve the ministries for God knows how long.
Every one of us are wretched.
Our hearts, our minds, everything.
Because we're stuck in this in nature.
And he's asking, who shall deliver me from this body of death?
Ask yourself that right now.
Who shall deliver me, Dan Badani, from this body of death?
You, whoever's watching the show here.
And Paul goes on to say, I thank God through Jesus our Lord, Jesus Christ our Lord.
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
So he's saying, in your mind serve the war of God, but with the flesh, okay, the war of sin.
But you're saved through Jesus, okay.
that-- And again, I hope these last few chapters especially really nailed this down.
Once and for all, the people who think that grace is a free pass to sin.
Like the dispensationalists say.
Nowhere in here is Paul saying it's okay to sin.
He's not saying that grace is a free pass to sin at all.
The law convicts us all, guys.
When you feel guilty, right?
That's the law convicting you.
That's the Holy Spirit saying, hey, Dan, or whatever your name is.
Yeah, you shouldn't have looked at that girl like that.
Or the demons that go through your mind.
Or, you know, Tom, you shouldn't have stole that $100 bill.
Or Jerry, you shouldn't have ever kissed that woman.
She's married.
You knew that too.
Yeah, it could be anything.
You know what I mean?
And that's the war of conviction.
But if you're free from sin, you don't have to worry about the law because it doesn't apply to you.
Same thing right now.
If you walk down the street, right?
You're driving right now.
Another example, right?
Your license is valid.
Your car's insured in Registered Inspector, right?
You're driving down the road, you're doing a speed limit.
You have nothing to worry about!
Nothing.
And if you got a camera in your car, you get pulled over, you can fight in court.
Yeah, you got nothing to worry about.
You got a clean record, right?
But if you're driving down the road, right?
And you got a license suspended or something like that.
You know darn well if you get pulled over, you can get into some trouble, right?
That's what this is talking about.
You know what I mean?
I hope this makes sense to people out there.
And if it doesn't, you need any clarification, please put it in the comment section and I'll get back to you.
Well, this is Paul in the last few chapters here being very precise.
And this one here, he's like convicting himself.
To say, I'm no better than you.
I'm a sinner.
He's saying, I am a wretched man.
And he's saying, who shall deliver me from this body of death?
And I thank God through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
That he does.
Jesus delivers us from that.
So, basically what Paul is saying in the Roundabout, right?
Without Jesus, guys, we're dead.
We are dead spiritually.
Without Jesus Christ, and if you're not a believer right now, I would strongly suggest and argue with you that you need to come to Jesus Christ.
Because if you just believe the law is going to save you, it's not, because it convicts us all.
Every one of us break the law.
And I'm talking about the laws of God here.
And one time you break that law, you're convicted of death, right there.
Through Jesus, okay?
The salvation through Jesus, the grace through Jesus, that we can be convicted, I'm sorry, cleansed of sin.
But it doesn't mean we can go break sins after that.
You know what I mean?
I mean, commit sins after that.
Doesn't mean that.
As we explained in the last two chapters, yeah.
So, very interesting chapter.
So, this is Paul.
Paul's such a... This guy's like a mighty man for God.
He really is.
Very strong.
He's a warrior, literally.
So, no wonder why Jesus chose him to lead his church when he was gone.
Because this guy is like, he's on fire!
And I can't wait to get to the next chapter.
So, don't take my word, anybody else's word for it.
Guys, read it for yourselves.
