TruthRadioShow.com And welcome to the Dan Bedant Show on TruthRadioShow.com So welcome to this in-depth comprehensive study of the book of Luke, chapter 20.
So if you missed chapters 1 through 19, they're in the playlist.
Also, we've covered the entire books of Matthew and Mark.
So please check them out in our playlist.
And on truthradioshow.com is a link to all our social media platforms.
So before we begin, even touch the Bible here, we like to do a specific Bible study approach.
Number one, to pray for wisdom and understanding.
So let's do this today, right now.
And so we come before you, Yeshua Messiah, Lord and Savior, we love you with all our heart and soul.
And we ask you to forgive us for our sins and trespasses.
And pour your blood upon us, Lord, to protect us against any and all evil and distractions.
And Heavenly Father, we come before you to ask you for your divine help to install the Holy Spirit upon us to help write the word of you upon our hearts, Lord.
In Jesus, the word made flesh.
Right upon our hearts, Lord, with the Holy Spirit, and in this case, Luke chapter 20, we ask you to help us understand in full your divine word here.
And we also pray for everybody here that's, anybody out there that's going through any kind of physical, spiritual, emotional, or any kind of pain or ailment or anything of the sort.
We ask you to comfort them, Lord, and heal them.
In your mighty name we pray, amen.
So that being done, guys, we also read description and context.
We don't just read through this, like I pointed out the last chapter.
Yeah, sure.
You could take three, four, or five minutes at most to read an entire chapter.
But we don't do that here, because you don't learn nothing when you do that.
You need to read description and context, because context is key.
You need to take your time, examine it.
If you don't know what it means, examine it.
Examine every paragraph and chapter and everything else.
So that's why we do chapter at a time.
One chapter at a time.
And let the script interpret the script.
So you cannot possibly misunderstand it.
And sorry to sound redundant going through these videos, guys, but this is very important to do.
And if you are new to this broadcast here, welcome and thank you.
And please check out chapters 1 through 19, I'm sorry.
1 through 19, so you could actually understand where we're at in this portion of history in the descriptions right here.
So chapter 20.
So now, chapter 20.
So if you've got a Bible, guys, please open it up.
And if you're watching on the video edition, it's up on the screen here.
We use the King James Bible.
But, if you're listening on theshakerradio.com, please open up your own Bible, because you need to read this for yourself.
It's more important.
So, and it came to pass that one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached to the gospel, the chief priests and scribes came upon him with the illness.
So, before we get to that, I want to remind you, right?
Chapter 19, where he left off.
Jesus went into the temple.
He gave the prophecy how the temple would be destroyed.
He's coming off of Mount Olives.
He said, not one stone will be left unturned.
On the second temple, it's going to be destroyed, right?
He went into the temple.
They're in there selling things.
They turned into a den of wipers.
And as you know, he went in there, flipped the tables, started whipping people, all kinds of stuff with righteous anger.
Because he turned God's house into a house of like a merchant place.
Den of thieves, like he says.
So now the scribes and priests, they're really ticked off at Jesus.
Because the thing is, they're trying to condemn Jesus.
In the meantime, they're the ones breaking the commandments.
They're the ones who are violating God's laws and everything else.
So now, after this writing, it came to pass that one of those days, as he taught the people in the temple, because remember the last chapter left off, he says every day he was teaching in the temple.
And preached the gospel, and the chief priests and the scribes came upon him with the elders.
So this is the bigwigs of the Jewish faith.
So you got chief priests, not just the priests, but the chief priests.
The scribes and with the elders.
These are the big, big time people in the Jewish faith.
And he spoke unto him, saying, Tell us, by what authority do you do these things?
Well, who is he that gave thee this authority?
So they're asking Jesus, Who gave you this authority to talk like this?
You know, where did he get this authority from?
And Jesus answered them, and said, I will ask you one thing, and answer me.
So the thing is, Jesus knew what they were up to.
They knew they were asking this question because every question they asked of Jesus, they conspired together first.
To try to ask a specific question so they could try to get him accriminated in evidence.
To condemn him.
Because again, remember, they want him, they want this guy out of the way.
Jesus, right?
They just want him out of the way, and they want him thrown in prison or dead, but they know they couldn't do that because they would start a riot.
Because of the amount of people that follow Jesus.
So they had to come up with some scheme to basically get Jesus for blasphemy or whatever the case, right?
So they went up to him and specifically knew what they were asking.
And Jesus already knows ahead of time, you know?
So, asking him, what authority do you have to do these things?
Who gave you this authority?
So Jesus knew darn well what they were up to.
And he knew if he gave them the right, you know, the straight answer, they're gonna use that against him.
So what did Jesus do?
He said, he turned around and said, I said, you know what?
He answered the question with a question.
And he goes, I will ask you one thing, and answer me.
The baptism of John, was it from heaven or of men?
So and they reasoned with themselves, saying, if we shall say from heaven, he will say, why then believe him not?
Why didn't you believe him?
But if we say it's of men, all the people will stone us, for they be persuaded that John was a prophet.
So, this is awesome, Jesus just ended with a question that, no matter how they answer this, right?
Because the thing is, they tried to do this to Jesus.
Ask him, because they tried to ask him, right?
What authority do you have to do this, and who gave you the authority?
Now, we know where the authority came from.
The authority he has, because he's the son of God, God in the flesh, right?
And the Father gave him the authority to do this, right?
We know that.
So, the thing is, Jesus, if he would have answered that, they would have used that against him as blasphemy.
So, what does Jesus do?
Turns around and answers the question with a question.
And tell me that Jesus was not a genius.
This guy was awesome.
So, I'll save you then.
So, he answers them, alright, answer me this.
The Baptist is John, then was it from heaven or man, right?
So, that's in there.
Oh man, alright.
How are we going to answer this?
So they knew, right?
If they said from heaven, Jesus is going to respond, well, why didn't you believe him?
So they couldn't answer that, right?
Then they said, well, if we say it's elements of man, right?
The people, now mind you, there's a bunch of people everywhere.
There's a multitude of people sitting here and witnessing the whole thing, right?
So then the scribes and Pharisees, the scribes and Pharisees and priests, they're afraid to answer this question.
Now they're saying, oh man, if we say he's from the people, because remember at this time, everybody loved John, because John was a great prophet, right?
So if they said it was a man, right?
The people would have stoned him.
I mean, they would have just like, took up stones and, you know, stoned the whole entire Jewish priests, you know, all the chief priests and everything.
So now they're, oh man, what do we do?
So they answered and said, we can't tell you.
And what it says here, they answered that they could not tell whence it was.
So they're like, yeah.
They're dumbfounded, right?
And Jesus said unto them, neither I tell you by what authority I do these things.
Because you can't answer my question, I'm not going to answer yours.
Because he knew, you know, this is awesome how he did this.
And it's not Jesus hiding things, no.
Because he knew if he would have said it from the Father, they would have used that against him.
He knew that.
So he gave him a question, this strategic question, that, and again, you've got to remember, there's thousands of people standing around watching this.
So if these guys would have said that John's baptism was by men, people loved John.
Alright, so they would have picked up rocks or whatever they would have done and stolen the priest there.
So they're like, oh man, what do we do?
Alright, we're just gonna maybe just shut up this time and not say nothing.
We don't have an answer, right?
So Jesus began to speak to the people in this parable.
Now this is awesome, right?
So now Jesus answers in parables here.
So it's a direct answer, but indirectly.
You know, so this is how smart he was.
And he goes on to say, and now the parable is concerning these questions here.
And it's just handed right back to the priest.
It's just like, you know, digging and rating them.
You know, it's awesome.
So you begin to speak to the people with this parable.
And a certain man planted a vineyard, "...and let forth the husbandmen, and went into the far country for a long time." So, this vineyard... There's a certain man who owned a vineyard, right?
And husbandmen are the helpers.
They're the ones that work there, right?
So he went to a far country for a long time.
It's a little similar to the prior parable, right?
In chapter 19.
"...and at the season he sent a servant to the husbandmen." To remind you of the owner.
So...
The certain man is the owner.
He owns the whole vineyard, right?
The husbandman of the people work there.
The servant is like a messenger.
So I just want to put that out there so you understand what's going on here.
And at the season, he sent a servant to the husbandman.
So he's still out in another country.
So he sent one of his servants back to the vineyard to the husbandman.
That they should give him the fruit of the vineyard, but the husband beat him.
The husband men, the helpers, the workers, beat him up and sent him away empty.
So basically, he's in another country, says, alright, go back to my vineyard, tell my workers here, give me some food.
And it could be money too, whatever the case, right?
But, well instead, you know, he's our boss now, yeah?
You know, we're not giving you nothing.
They beat him up and sent him away, right?
And again, he sent another servant, and they beat him also.
And they treated him shamefully and sent him away empty.
So imagine, you know, the owner is like, well, what?
This is my second servant that came back beat up.
What the heck is going on now?
So now he sends a third servant.
And they wounded him also and cast him out.
So now each time this is getting more severe.
So you're the owner of this vineyard, right?
You sent your servant to go retrieve some money or whatever the case that you made from your vineyard, whatever the case, or your fruit, right?
Three people now that are coming back worse and worse.
Then said the lord of the vineyard, what shall I do?
I will send my beloved son.
So here's the thing.
Everybody knew the son, because the son is like... In other words, if you're the owner of this vineyard, right?
Of course all your workers and everybody there knows who your son is.
Like he's got some position and authority, right?
So I sent three of my servants that really don't have any authority.
They beat him up and everything else.
So, techs go nuts, alright?
I'll just send my son, because if I send my son, they're gonna know I'm serious.
And it's from me, right?
So... The Word of the Servant, what shall I do?
Now, what does this remind you of?
What does this remind you of, Rea?
How many times did... This is the Father.
Our Heavenly Father, right?
The servants He sent, right?
They're prophets.
And what happened to prophets?
They got beat up and everything else, right?
Now he's sending the Son, that's Jesus.
Do you understand this parable now?
He's talking about himself.
Now check this out, right?
Then said the Lord of the lineage, this is our Heavenly Father, right?
What shall I do now?
I will send my beloved Son, that's Jesus in the flesh.
And maybe they will reverence with Him when they see Him.
They'll all know him, right?
So, anyway, in the parable, he sends his son, so... Anyway, but when the husbands saw him, the people, right, that worked the vineyard, they reasoned among themselves, saying, huh, this is the heir to the throne, basically, the owners?
Come, let us kill him, and his inheritance may be ours.
You see where Jesus is getting at?
He's talking about, in this parable, he's talking about these guys.
The chief priests and the scribes and the elders.
They're trying to kill the Son of God so they can inherit his authority.
You see where Jesus is getting at with this parable?
He's telling the people what these people are trying to do to me.
I said prophets after prophet after prophet and look what they did to John the Baptist.
They end up beheading him.
So they cast him out of the vineyard and killed him. - Yeah.
And what happens to Jesus later on here?
They sent him out for crucifixion and killed him, right?
So anyway, they sent him out of the vineyard and killed him.
And what therefore shall the Lord of the vineyard do unto them?
So now God's like, now what are we going to do to them?
Now he's ticked off.
I said, Profit after profit after profit.
In this case, yeah.
Servant after servant to get some of this fruit, right?
Now they sent my son and they killed him.
They wounded, you know, they hurt the first one.
Hurt the second one worse.
Then gave the third one a wound.
Now they killed my son.
It's getting worse every time I send somebody.
He shall come and destroy these husband men.
And shall give the vineyard to others.
So what is this talk about, guys?
Yeah.
And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.
The people listening, they said, God forbid, but they knew what Jesus was talking about.
Jesus is saying the Father's coming to destroy this temple.
And that's when the Jews end up splitting up and becoming slaves of nations and everything else.
For millennia, right?
They're always so targeting.
They became slaves of so many people over the years.
Because every single time that's going on, killing prophets.
Now the Messiah.
So this parable you just read, in the parable it would be Owner of a vineyard, right?
In this case, it's about the Heavenly Father.
Set of prophets and servants, right?
The prophets.
The Son is Him.
If you've got any questions about that, guys, please put it in the comment section.
And He beheld them and said, What is it then that is written, that the stone which the builders rejected, the same shall become the head of the corner?
So let's talk about builders and this is like a lot of significance with this so so and the thing is free masonry they'll use stuff like this still by the way which they use they twist it around to use it wrongfully because that's what a mason does they turn a stone uh into a cornerstone to make it perfect whatever the case but anyway I don't want to go down that hole because because like that's off the subject here but um
So, and beheld them, and he said, What is it then that is written?
So, what is it that's written?
The stone which the builders rejected, that's him.
Jesus is that stone the builders rejected, the people rejected.
He's the Son of God, right?
The same has become the head of the corner.
And whoever shall fall upon that stone will be broken.
But whoever shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
So if you fall upon a stone, right?
You're gonna be broken, right?
I'm sorry, whoever shall fall upon that stone, shall be broken.
So if you fall upon a stone, you're gonna be broken, right?
But if the stone falls upon you, it's gonna grind you to powder.
If you get what it's saying, right?
So, and the chief priests and the scribes at the same hour sought to lay hands on him.
So now they knew what Jesus was saying.
Jesus indirectly saying that he's the son of God.
And that the father is like really ticked off because you killed all the prophets.
Now you gotta put me to death.
Jesus knew their plan ahead of time.
That's why he talked about this in the parable.
And everybody knew what he was talking about.
Thank you.
So now the chief priests and scribes, they're really livid.
Like, alright.
This guy, we gotta do something to get rid of him, right?
So, they were like, we gotta do something.
You know, whatever.
Whatever they had inspired, right?
But, the thing is, they feared the people.
For they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.
And it was.
It was a parable against them.
They knew that.
Everybody knew that.
But again, the reason why he spoke in the parable is because it's indirectly.
Because the thing is, if he would have said it directly, hey, my father's coming to destroy you.
Thank you.
They would have used that against him.
So this is why he spoke indirectly to this parable.
Tell me or not, Jesus is a genius.
It's awesome.
So, and they watched him and sent forth spies, which should fiend themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, so they might deliver him into the power and authority of the government.
So, everywhere Jesus went, they, I guess, obviously, the scribes and the priests sent some spies within the crowd to keep an eye on Jesus, to see what he might say, so they could use that against him.
And he asked them, saying, Master, So now here's an incriminating question.
They're trying to once again go Jesus into something.
But Jesus knows what they're up to, right?
they said, is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar or no?
So now he has an incriminate question.
They're trying to once again go Jesus into something.
But Jesus knows what they're up to, right?
So is it lawful to give up to Caesar?
But he perceived that craftiness, right?
He knew what they were up to, that's what he was saying.
He knew how they were crafty and had these questions.
And he said to them, why tempt me?
Why are you tempting me?
Show me a penny.
And when they pulled out the penny, right?
And he goes, whose image are superscriptions on that?
So they asked him this question, is it lawful to give tribute to Caesars?
So Jesus knew their craftiness.
He's like, alright, you want to play this game?
Show me one of those pennies, right?
And tell me whose image and inscription is on that penny.
And the answer said, it's Caesar's.
There's a picture of Caesar on that penny, right, and his inscription.
So, and Jesus said to them, Alright, well rendered therefore unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's.
So that penny belongs to Caesar, right?
Render it to him.
And unto God the things that which belong to God.
So you see the craftiness they're trying to get into?
So is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar?
Yes or no?
Well, yeah.
If it's His, give it to Him.
And if it's God's, give it to Him.
In other words, the Sabbath and all that stuff, you're honoring for God, right?
The taxes and all that stuff, the money that's distributed around there, yeah, that's His.
That's Caesar's.
Give to Caesar's what's Caesar's, and give to God's what's God's.
Because they would try to goad Him to say, no.
So they could go to Caesar and say, hey, this guy's committing blasphemy, and yeah, he's telling people not to pay him.
Just to goad some, you know, Jesus get arrested.
See what they're doing?
But again, it says he perceived their craft in this.
He knew what they were up to.
So, and they could not take hold of his words before the people.
So they end up like, alright, yeah.
He's not directly saying anything bad.
So we have nothing on him.
And they marveled at his answer and held their peace.
So like, oh man, well, all right, yeah, all right, we're done here for today.
So they're just like, all right, we're shut.
Once again, we're going to shut up because we have nothing to say after this.
Then it came to him, a certain of the seducers, which denied that there is any resurrection, and asked him, saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, if any man's brother dies having a wife, And he dies without children and his brother should take his wife and raise up their seed into his brother, right?
So, because back then the tradition was if... There's seven, I believe, in this one.
Because it's the same thing as Matthew, Mark.
So, there's seven brothers.
Right?
A family of seven brothers, right?
So, basically back then if you're... You're married to a woman, right?
And you say you died.
And a woman doesn't have any kids or anything like that from you.
The brother that's next in line that's not married would take her as a wife and bring forth your children with him.
You know what I mean?
So, anyway, they're asking him this, right?
Because another question they're trying to goad him into, right?
Because they're trying to use the laws of Moses to get him to say something wrong to say he's committing blasphemy, right?
So he asked him, if any man died, his brother died, right?
Having a wife.
And he dies without children.
Like him and his wife don't have children, right?
So therefore the law would say that his brother should take his wife and raise up their seed into his brother.
You know, raise up children.
For his brother, right?
And there were therefore seven brothers.
And the first one took a wife and died without children, right?
So the second wife married her.
Then he ended up dying before they could have kids, right?
The third, uh, brother in line, uh, took her, you married her, right?
And like Manna, the seven also.
And they also have left no children dead.
So, in other words... The first one married up, didn't have children, so the second one, the third one, the fourth one, the fifth one, the sixth one, and the seventh one.
So, all seven, now this girl's a widow of seven people.
And she didn't get to have kids with anyone.
Alright, so anyway...
Then after, the last of all, the woman died.
So, after all her seven husbands died, she died.
Therefore, in the resurrection, right, whose wife of them is she?
For seven had her to her wife.
So, she was married to all seven of them.
So, in the resurrection, in the afterlife, right, whose wife is she going to be?
This is what they're asking Jesus, right?
And they know the answer to this.
But they're trying to goad Jesus to say something that's going to violate the laws of Moses.
Which is the laws of God.
They were handed to Moses.
So... Again, Jesus knew, you know, what they were doing.
door so and Jesus answering them said unto them the children of this world marry and are given a marriage right but which shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world in the resurrection from the dead neither marry or given the marriage so we have when you're resurrected you don't have a husband or wife in the resurrection Like right now, if any of you are married out there, right?
And just say we... We die and we get resurrected, right?
Even if she died as your wife too, whatever the case, right?
It doesn't matter.
When you're in heaven, it's not your wife no more.
You know, you don't spend each other, you know, like as husband and wife, you do it like you're on earth.
You know, you don't spend all the time.
So there's no marriage in heaven.
So neither can they die anymore.
So yeah, there's no marriage.
When you're resurrected, neither is marriage or given to marriage.
So you're not married anymore in heaven, and you don't marry anybody at all.
Neither can they die anymore.
Because in the resurrection, you don't die anymore.
For they are all equal unto the angels.
And now the children of God being the children of the resurrection.
So what this is saying, he's saying that you got a new body.
You're not married no more nothing, now you're equal to the angels.
Isn't that amazing?
So now the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush.
When he called the Lord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
For he is not a God of the dead, but the God of the living.
For all live unto him.
That's awesome.
It really is.
If you're going to contemplate, you know, contemplate what he's understanding here.
I'm sorry.
Understand what he's saying here.
That's amazing.
It really is.
Take that in from him.
Because even though he's not answering them back, right?
But actually comprehend what he's saying.
People say, well I want to be more with my wife and all that.
Yeah, we all want to be with our spouses.
But we will, hopefully, if both of you believe.
And you will be with your spouse.
But the thing is, you're not going to be sleeping in the same bed and doing things like that.
You know what I'm saying?
Like marry a couple on earth.
You have sex and kiss each other and stuff like that.
That's not going to be up in heaven.
You're not going to have the need to do that.
Because we're going to be pure.
We're going to be equal to the angels.
That's amazing.
And people say, well, I want to, you know, I want to spend eternity with my wife and all that.
But it's not the same.
You don't understand.
It's like, yeah, on earth we have these needs.
As married couples and all that, we have the need to have sex.
We have the needs of affection and all that stuff, right?
As a married couple, right?
But in heaven, you don't have those needs.
Which, to be honest, it's like, you know, because on Earth it's an emotional rollercoaster half the time, you know?
Well, yeah.
You're not going to have to worry about any of that in Heaven.
You're still going to love each other, no doubt, but it's not going to be the, like, it's going to be a lot better.
And I know some people might not comprehend that.
But you're never going to die again, you know?
You're never going to die.
You're going to get hurt, sick.
Nothing like that.
You're not going to age anymore.
You're gonna be equal to the angels.
That's amazing.
Equal to the angels.
And they are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
We're gonna be the children of God.
In the resurrection.
That's amazing.
And then he says, Now that the dead are raised, even Moses showed at the bush when he called the Lord the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob.
For he is not the God of the dead, but of the living, for all live unto him.
We all live unto God.
So now, a certain scribe, which was probably the spy, answered, Master, thou has well said.
So at the time he's like, well, well, alright.
Try to get him to like, you know, rope into some blasphemous question, answer, I'm sorry.
And when Jesus spoke, that's like, oh, alright, alright.
Yeah, well said, I guess.
Yeah, the guy probably felt like a fool afterwards.
Because Jesus spoke it well.
And it's exactly the, not one word of this contradicts the laws of Moses.
Which again, is the laws God gave Moses to the people.
And by the way, for you dispensationals out there that are watching this, oh, well, we don't have to go by the laws of Moses and all that, or the Ten Commandments.
You might want to read the Bible because Jesus would have said, quickly, right in the head, said, you know, I'm here now, this is all abolished, right?
Nowhere in the Bible does it say any such thing.
He didn't abolish the Ten Commandments at all.
We did tons of shows out on our Spiritual Warfare Friday shows.
Tons of shows that Jesus did not vouch for the Ten Commandments.
He preached the Ten Commandments, and which we, I mean, if you've been watching for the last few books we've been covering, right?
Clearly, he's preached the Ten Commandments and taught men to do so.
And his two great commandments are the hangers of those Ten Commandments.
So the scribe was like, alright, yeah, you answered that well, thank you.
So, and after that, they durst not ask him any more questions at all.
So, they're like, alright, we're done asking questions.
Yeah.
Guys, everything we asked him today, everything, he's come back and just slammed us.
Jesus outsmarted these people.
The scribes, the elders, and the priests, right?
Outsmarted them.
So, and he said unto them, Jesus said to them, How say that the Christ is David's son?
And David himself said in the book of Psalms, the Lord said unto my Lord, sit thou on my hand, till I make thy enemies thy footstool.
David therefore called him Lord.
How is it than his son?
So then the audience of all the people said unto his disciples, ugh.
You know, beware the scribes, which desire to walk in the long robes and love, greed, and the markets.
That's what Jesus is like.
Sorry.
Yeah.
Just hammering the scribes out.
To show everybody how bunch of hypocrites that they are, right?
Because they acknowledge David, right?
And Jesus hands it right back to them.
And he says to him, how can you say that Christ is David's son?
And David himself in the book of Psalms, he has the other thing too, right?
I love this because you get a lot of Bible scoffers out there that say, oh, these books didn't come out until then and then, right?
So if that was the case, right, how does Jesus recite in the book of Psalms?
How does he recite the book of Daniel if these books so-called didn't come out until later on after Jesus?
Yeah, because they've been out for a long time.
And anybody that knows this biblical history, the Psalms and Daniels, they've been out for thousands of years.
The Torah.
These books go way back.
But anyway, that's, you know, information for a Bible scholar.
They tell me, yeah, you better learn history because that's not true.
How would Jesus recite the book of Psalms and Daniels if it didn't exist yet?
My point exactly.
So David himself said in the book of Psalms that the Lord said unto my Lord sit on my right hand until I make your enemies my footstool.
Your footstool, I'm sorry.
And David therefore called him Lord.
How is then the Son?
Because they would question like David just being the Son.
Some thought that David was the Messiah, right?
So he's saying If he was the Messiah, if David was the son of God, right?
Why would he call the father son?
I mean, the father Lord?
So, you know what I mean?
So anyway, then in the audience of all the people, he said unto his disciples, So he turns to the people, the disciples, and all the followers, right?
So now he's done with the Pharisees, the scribes, elders, and priests, right?
He's done with them now, right?
So now he looks to the disciples.
And the people that follow him, right?
And he says, Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes.
They love greetings in the markets, in the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at the feasts.
So, in other words, where they go, they get VIP service.
The scribes, right?
They go into the... They wear nice long robes.
They look... Their arraignment's nice, you know, for clothing.
And they love being greeted in the marketplace, because everywhere they go, oh, how you doing, scribe?
Or whatever they call them at the time, right?
And everywhere they go, they get the highest seats.
In the synagogues, they'll get the best seats.
They'll get the chief rooms, like the VIP rooms, if you want to call it that, right?
Beware them.
And he says, which devour widows' houses, and make long prayers.
The same shall receive greater damnation.
And of course, it goes on to the next chapter here.
So, which we're going to cover, and this continues on to chapter 21.
So keep that in mind when you watch the next chapter, guys.
Chapter 21 is a continuation from chapter 20 here.
So right now, at the end of this chapter, he's literally warning all the people out there, beware of these scribes.
Because they're a bunch of darn hypocrites.
That's what they are.
They walk around like VIP status.
You have VIP treatment everywhere they go.
They show people how they make these long prayers.
But they're gonna receive greater damnation.
The hypocrites.
They're the ones who pray in the streets.
They're the ones who, you know, show off.
I'm more holier than you, you know, those kind of people.
Which is fake, you know?
So we're gonna get to chapter 21 at the next video and I'm excited for that because chapter 21 is gonna talk more further about this.
So pretty awesome stuff, man.
