TruthRadioShow.com And welcome everybody to the Damp and Darny Show right here on TruthRadioShow.com So we're on to the book of Mark chapter 2.
So if you missed chapter 1, it's in our playlist here.
So, like always, when we're doing our Bible studies, we have a specific Bible study approach.
Number one, we pray for wisdom and understanding.
So let's do that right now.
So we come before you, Yeshua, Messiah, Jesus, our heavenly Messiah, we ask you in your mighty name to cleanse us of our sins and trespasses and to make us pure before the Father.
Father, we come before your throne asking for your help and give us the Holy Spirit to teach us your word today in the book of Mark chapter 2.
In your heavenly name, Amen.
And now we've done that, guys.
We read the scripture in context.
We don't just skim through the Bible, or just read right through, which takes a couple minutes to do.
We don't do that.
It's not like a magazine or a book.
This is something that needs to be read in context.
Take your time and understand it all.
So, we read the scripture in context, because context is key, and let the scripture interpret the scripture.
Lean not on your own understanding.
So, where we left off, we left off at chapter 1.
So at the end of chapter 1, Jesus healed this man with leprosy, right?
And he told him, hey listen, be quiet about it, just go to the priest, alright?
And offer for the cleansing.
And tell them what I've done to you, right?
Let them know what I've done, right?
Tell the priest, right?
But this guy was so jubilant, he ran over the place, yelling and screaming, hey!
This guy, Jesus healed me!
You know what I mean?
And so, multitudes of people come flooding in to see who this man was that did this, and also needed to be healed themselves.
So, now we move on to chapter 2, that after, I guess after Jesus done all that, right?
He, um, entered into Capernaum a couple days later, and it was noise that he was in the house.
In other words, like, alright, everybody, Jesus is here, you know what I mean?
So people like seeing him and like, wow, he's here.
So in straight away, many would gather together in so much as there was no room to receive them.
No, not so much as about the door.
And he preached the word unto them.
So I guess he's at the house.
You know, there's people everywhere, all around the house and everything else, waiting to get in to talk to Jesus, to get preached to, to get healed, and, you know, people with demons, to get, uh, exercised and everything else, right?
So, and they come on to him, bringing one sick of palsy, that, which was born of four, right?
So, the first person here, and when they could not come, die unto him, for the press, because there was tons of people everywhere.
There's people trying to get in, they couldn't even get close, right?
So they uncovered the roof where he was.
So where this homestead he was, right?
They uncovered the roof.
And it says when they broke it up, they broke the roof up, they let down the bed where the sick of the palsy lay.
So there was some people that were sick of palsy, right?
So they destroyed the roof, right?
Because they couldn't get to the door, that's what it said, right?
There was no room to receive them to the door.
Right there.
So they broke up the roof.
And they lowered the people in their little beds, lowered them down.
So, and when Jesus saw their faith, because, yeah, they went through that much just to get to Jesus.
So that shows a lot of faith.
You know what I mean?
If you're climbing up on a roof, ripping the roof down, just to try to get to Jesus for help, right?
That shows faith, alright?
So, when Jesus seen that faith, he said unto the sick of DePaulsey, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
And there were certain of the scribes sitting there, you know, reasoning in their hearts.
Why does this man thus speak blasphemies?
Who can forgive sins but only God?
Which normally, yeah, alright, if you see somebody saying, like today, right?
We got the Pope out there saying he can forgive sins.
We know he can't, alright?
Only Jesus can do that, right?
But at the time, you know, the priests, you know, the thing is, if they knew their own prophecy, they would have known that he was a Messiah.
At the time, right?
So, they're thinking this guy's committing blasphemy, because they refuse to believe he's the Messiah.
So, who can forgive sins but God?
So, immediately, when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they were so reasoned with themselves, he said it to them.
So, this is them talking, this is them talking about him, right?
And Jesus, right, looked over at them and said, why reason?
Why are you guys reasoning these things in your hearts?
So Jesus knew exactly what they were saying and doing, right?
And Jesus looked over and said, Hey, why are you guys reasoning with these things in your hearts?
And he says, whether it's easy to say that the sick of the palsy, thy sins be forgiven thee, or say, arise and take up thy bed and walk.
Which is easier?
So he's asking the scribes, right?
Which is easier, to say that the sick of the palsy, the sins be forgiven thee, or just to say, arise and take up thy bed and walk, right?
Thank you.
But they may not know the Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins.
He said to the sick of appalling, right?
And I say to thee, arise and take up thy bed and go thy way into thine house.
And immediately he rose and started talking to the guy with the palsy, right?
He told him, you send the forgiven, right?
Then he goes and tells the scribes to go off, basically, right?
He said, why are you reasoning against me?
Then he tells the guy with the palsy, go rise and take up your bed and go back to your house.
And the guy was healed, right?
So everybody's seen this, right?
The whole crowd of people.
Seen what Jesus has just done.
Absolutely amazing.
Imagine just witnessing that, you know what I mean?
And they started glorifying God.
Because they've never seen anything like this.
You know what I mean?
We've never seen anything like this.
Can you imagine seeing this in real life?
I'd be glorifying God myself, and I still would anyway, you know what I mean?
Verse 13, and he went forth again by the seaside, and all the multitude resorted unto him, and he taught them.
So, when he went to the seaside, the multitude, again, a multitude of people, could be thousands, we don't know.
In other words, a whole heck of a lot of people.
Plain and simple.
So when they saw him, they all ran up to Jesus, and he sat there and taught them.
So that was Jesus recruiting another person, yeah?
And it came to pass that as Jesus sat at meat in his house, right?
So at meat, which was probably dinner or lunches, whatever it is, right?
him.
So it's Jesus recruiting another person, yeah?
And it came to pass that as Jesus sat at meat in his house, right?
So at meat, which was probably dinner or lunch, whatever it is, right?
Which is probably dinner, right?
Many publicans and sinners also sat there together with Jesus and his disciples, right?
Right?
Remember, publicans and sinners.
For there were many, and they followed him.
Now, when the scribes, right, and the Pharisees saw him eat with the publicans and sinners, they said unto his disciples, How is it that he eats with drinks with the publicans and sinners?
And when Jesus heard this, right, he said unto them, They are The whole have no need of a physician, but they are sick.
I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.
So, now let's get this in context, right?
Why do you eat with the sinners?
The Pharisee is saying, why do you eat with these sinners and publicans, right?
Why?
Because that's what he came here to, to help people repent.
He came here for the lost people.
The whole reason why Jesus was born in the flesh, on the earth here, is to redeem people.
I'm a sinner, you're a sinner.
He redeems us, right?
So why not with these people too?
But the scribes and Pharisees, these people are self-righteous.
They think they're holier than thou art.
You know what I mean?
And like, why would you eat with these, like, to them as presents, probably, right?
These sinners and publicans, right?
And Jesus told them, they don't have need for a physician, in other words, they're not sick.
But they have, they are sick.
In other words, I came not to call the righteous, but the sinners to repentance.
Like, He came to us not to sit there and chill out the righteous people.
He came to bring the sinners to repentance.
That was his purpose of coming to the earth, yeah.
Not to sit there with the priests and scribes and all that stuff, no.
To hang out with all the so-called holy people.
No.
He came for the number one goal, number one primary goal, is he came to bring sinners to repentance.
So that's why he's not taking part of their sin stuff.
He's sitting there with the sinners helping them.
As we all should be doing.
Let me give you another example.
This is why Jesus talked in parables.
So let me give you one in a parable like a layman's term, yeah, right?
What is it more profitable for you out there?
Right now, listen, right?
If you sat in your church, right?
You go to church, right?
You got all the people in your congregation, right?
You hang out with them.
You associate with them all the time, right?
You don't even bother with the outside world, right?
Let me ask you something, right?
What good are you?
What good are you for the word of God, for the gospel?
You're not good at all because you're preaching to the choir every time you talk.
You are nothing but preaching to the choir, right?
You're not bringing sinners to repentance.
It's the same example here.
Instead of Jesus hanging out with the scribes and Pharisees and the priests, right?
He's hanging out with the sinners to bring them to repentance.
Not to hang out with them to do sin stuff, no.
To bring them to sin, that's what we're supposed to do.
We're supposed to reach out to the unrighteous, right?
We're supposed to reach out to sinners and bring them to repentance.
Not hang out in the pews all day, or hang out with the community church things all day.
That's not what we're here for.
I mean, he came not to chill out with the righteous people, I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.
That's his primary purpose of being here in the flesh.
So, verse 18, and the disciples of John and the Pharisees used to fast.
If you know what fasting is, it's like, there's different methods.
You don't eat for a period of time, let your body regenerate and all that stuff.
It cleanses the body.
And it's good for spiritual applications.
Again, the disciples of John and the Pharisees used to fast, right?
And they come and say unto Jesus, right?
Why do the disciples of John and the Pharisees fast, but thy disciples fast not?
In other words, asking Jesus, right?
How come John's disciples of the Pharisees, how come they fast but your disciples don't?
So Jesus said unto them, can the children, this is not bashing John, by the way, Jesus said unto them, right?
Can the children of the bridegroom fast while the bridegroom is with them?
Can they?
No, because as long as they have the bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
Who's the bridegroom we're talking about here, guys?
Now, every time you hear bride and groom and all that in this matter, it's talking about Jesus' church.
It's not a religion, by the way.
It's not the Catholic Church, not the 40,000 different denominations of Christianity.
It's not any religion.
It's faith, okay?
We are part of Jesus's church.
We don't take heed to no pope or any pastor or anything like that.
The only leader we have is Jesus Christ himself in the Holy Spirit.
That helps us learn.
And of course, the Father.
So, we are the bride as a whole of the church, right?
And he's our bridegroom.
So he's saying, why would the children of the Bridegroom, while being with the Bridegroom, right?
Why should they fast?
As long as they have the Bridegroom with them, they cannot fast.
But he says, right?
But the days will come when the Bridegroom shall be taken away from them.
In other words, talk about, in this future context at the time, of him being crucified, and he's going to raise in the spirit, and leave the earth, right?
That's what he's talking about.
In this day, you know, I will shall be taken away from them.
And then they shall fast in those days.
But no man also soweth a piece of new cloth.
This is where he goes to the parables.
This is what I love about him, right?
He goes into these parables because it further explains in detail so you could not possibly misunderstand things.
Because he knew ahead of time, you know, that over the ages, words would change, phrases would change, and everything else, and people could misunderstand it.
So that's why he, like, repeats himself, but in different ways.
Using layman's terms, parables, if you will.
So you could not possibly misunderstand him, right?
So he goes on to say that no man sews a piece of new cloth on an old garment.
Also, the new piece that filled up to take it away from the old.
And the rent is made worse, right?
So, what does that mean?
So, if you got a... Just say... Alright.
You got an old dress, right?
Ladies, right?
You got this old dress.
A guy, you got a... You got this jumpsuit or suit or something, right?
It's a little worn out.
Whatever the case, I would just say you got a big hole in it, right?
If you went out and bought new fabric, right?
Just say you had a red dress, right?
It's faded red.
But you bought new fabric, right?
And you cut a piece out to sew it where the hole is, right?
So now that new piece is going to be bright and shiny, right?
And the rest is going to be... Yeah, you get the point, right?
Another example, right?
You got a car, right?
A vehicle.
You say your car is blue.
And... Yeah, it paints faded over the years because of the weather and everything else, right?
You say somebody come over and clipped your door off your car, right?
You went to the junkyard.
Or you bought a brand new door, right?
You put the new door on and it's like bright blue.
It's going to throw the car off.
It's going to look worse than it did in the first place.
That's what he's saying.
That dress is going to look, that garment is going to look worse than it was in the first place.
So no man puts on, you know, puts a new wine bottle, wine I'm saying, no man puts new wine into old bottles.
Or else the wine does burst the bottles and the wine is spilled.
But the bottles will be marred, but the new wine must be put into new bottles.
Yeah, you're not going to put new wine into a new bottle.
So this is what he's saying here.
When he was here on earth, right, we don't need to fast with him when we're with him.
Well, the people at the time that was with him, you know, because they say, how come John's disciples, once again, how come John's disciples have to fast but yours don't?
And he goes, well, why should they?
They're with me.
They don't need to fast, they're already with me.
But he did say, when I leave, okay, then they shall fast in those days.
So, and it came to pass when he went through the cornfields on a Sabbath day And his disciples began, as they went, to pluck the ears out of corn.
Now, we talked about it in the last chapter, right?
Because there's ministries out there that blasphemy teaches.
It's that Ten Commandments, which the Sabbath is the fourth commandment.
Blasphemy teaches that it's all abolished.
Jesus nailed it to the cross.
No, the Bible says no such thing.
It says the ordinances were nailed to the cross, not the commandments.
Ordinances, laws, commandments, statues are four different things.
Ordinances, laws, commandments, and statutes are four different things.
So it says the ordinances were nailed to the cross, not the commandments.
Or the laws.
Big difference.
But anyway.
So people say, well, right here, this is Jesus working on the Sabbath.
So, you know, these people out there.
So it shows right there that He abolished the Sabbath, right?
No, it doesn't.
He's not working.
Let's check this out, right?
And they say they don't use this verse for defense, right?
That's why it's good to read the thing in scripture.
I mean, in our context.
I'm sorry, guys.
That threw me off for a second.
So, this is why we have to read this in context.
So, that one verse right there, right?
They, you know, a lot of people defend the commandments being abolished, right?
They'll use this verse.
Out of context.
Just a single verse, right?
But they don't bother reading the rest, right?
So, Again, let the Scripture interpret Scripture, before we jump to conclusions by reading this one verse, right?
And leaning on our own understandings, right?
Or some bloke behind a pulpit telling you what that means, right?
No!
Let the Scripture interpret the Scripture.
Now check this out, right?
And it came to pass, when he went through the cornfields on the Sabbath day, and his disciples began to pluck the corn, right?
So the Pharisees said unto him, Behold, why do you do these things on the Sabbath day, which is not willful?
Working is unlawful, right?
On a Sabbath day.
But Jesus said to him, have you never read what David did when he was in need, when he was hungry?
He had the, where with him?
How he went into the house of God in those days of Apathah, the high priest, and did eat of the showbread, which is not woeful to eat, but for the priest. .
And gave also which were with him.
So, in other words, remember when David went on the Sabbath day, he went to the house of God, the temple, right?
And the show bread was for the priests only, right?
He ate that bread and gave it to the people that were with him.
And Jesus said unto them, the Sabbath was made... And here's another verse here, guys.
Another verse where these people, which is modern-day dispensationalism, that go around teaching the commandment to abolish, the Sabbath is abolished and all that, right?
This is another verse they use, they take out of context, right?
They'll use that one single verse, right?
And he said to them, Jesus said to them, the Sabbath was made for man and not man for the Sabbath.
Some of us say, look, it's right there.
That's the proof right there that Sabbath day was abolished.
No, it's not.
Do you understand that?
The Sabbath was made for man.
In other words, you follow it.
God said, and it goes back to Genesis, right?
Chapter 2.
Where he said, I hallowed and sanctified the Sabbath day.
And Hebrews chapter 4, we'll get into that eventually.
It's got to certify that the Sabbath day was followed by Jesus, preached by Jesus, and, you know, we already went through a mock that it confirmed that the people who teach the commandments will be called great in the kingdom of God.
People who teach and follow the commandments of God, they're going to be called great in the kingdom of God.
And those who don't are going to be called least in the kingdom of God.
And when we get to Revelation and everything, we're going to show you as we go along.
So, what does this mean?
Oh, the Sabbath was made for man, and man... Well, not man, for the Sabbath, right?
The Sabbath was made for man.
That means man follows the Sabbath.
God set the law, you follow it.
You make the time.
You don't go according to your schedule.
Okay?
It's not the seventh day that you decide.
A lot of people get that wrong, too.
Oh, you know, I'll work this day and I'll take Wednesday as a Sabbath or a Sunday.
No, that's not how it works.
The Sabbath was made by God for man.
In other words, you follow his schedule, he's not going to work around yours.
Not the man for Sabbath.
That would mean the man for Sabbath, right?
In other words, we decide when we feel like taking the Sabbath.
No, he said it again.
The Father made the Sabbath, okay?
The Sabbath was made for man.
Now you follow his schedule.
God doesn't work around yours.
And therefore, alright, therefore the Son of Man, that's Him, is Lord of the Sabbath.
So, right there it says, oh, he went picking corn on the Sabbath, he was working.
No, he wasn't working, he went to get something to eat.
That's a big difference.
He wasn't, he didn't pluck, the thing is, he didn't pluck the corn, okay?
They didn't pluck these ears of corn.
To go sell the streets or anything like that.
Synagogues and all that.
They plucked the ears of corn because they were hungry.
And Jesus gives more explanations of this further on.
Plain and simple.
So, I know a lot of people like to misinterpret these things, but this is the scripture in context.
Whole different story, isn't it?
Versus when you get some, uh... Sabbath denier out there.
Who'll say, oh, it's only for the Jews and all that stuff, and they'll throw this at you.
Well, look, look.
Well, they'll say, look, he went and plucked a... They'll take verse 23 out of... They'll use 23 alone, right?
Then they'll use 27 alone.
They'll say, oh, look, if you read verses 23 and 27, that proves the Sabbath day was abolished.
Hold on.
Pause it for a minute.
Wait one second.
Did you bother reading verses 23 through 28?
Did you bother doing that instead of taking two verses out of context?
This is what I'm talking about.
Perfect example, right?
Again, if somebody threw this verse at you, right?
He wasn't too sure about things.
Jesus went plucking me as a corn in the Sabbath.
So that would assume he's working, right?
If he didn't know any better.
Then they threw this at you, right?
Out of context, right?
So you wouldn't really know what that means.
So now we read it in its context.
That's all of it.
23 to 28 is the full context of what those rest are talking about.
Whole different story, isn't it now, huh?
See, this is a perfect example why we must never, ever be misconstrued by a single rest, guys.
Now, the thing is.
Us known as now?
Now monks, we can use a single verse here now because we know the context of that verse.
See, a lot of these false religions, the leaders, they know darn well what these mean, right?
But what they'll do is they'll take it out of context purposely to deceive the masses.
And if you're not sure, if some religion, some ministry comes at you and says, oh, this is this because this says so, right?
Say, verse 25, for example, right?
You can make that sound there like anything you want.
And you string together a couple other verses with it.
From everywhere else that may sound like it.
Then you read every one of these verses they gave you in context.
There's nothing to do with what they're talking about.
Yeah.
This is the importance of this guys.
Because these religions out there are deceiving people by the millions.
Billions I'm sorry.
Billions.
With a B. Billions of people being deceived every day.
By these false religions, these false ministries.
We don't follow any religion or anything like that.
We follow Jesus Christ directly, guys.
We are the Order of Melchizedek.
We are the remnant of Jesus Christ, Yeshua Messiah.
We don't take any he to a pope or a bishop or a priest or a pastor or 700 Club or any of those clowns on TV.
We follow Jesus Christ only.
He's our leader.
The Holy Spirit's our teacher.
God's our father.
Plain and simple.
Keep that in mind, you'll never go wrong, guys.
And this is plain and simple.
The Sabbath day was made for man.
In other words, you follow the Sabbath.
It's not made for you, okay?
I mean, the man's not made for the Sabbath, I mean.
Which means, man for the Sabbath, that means you get to decide.
Nope, it says it was made for man.
In other words, we make it, you follow.
You follow what we make the way you want it.
In other words, another example, right?
That's why I love Jesus talking parables and all that.
Give them examples.
Another example of this, right?
Just say I open up a company, right?
I own, I don't know, damn, but don't these airplanes or something.
I build jets, right?
So you come work for me, right?
This is an example, right?
I know when, where, where I need people, right?
And what time, the schedules, right?
So, I write out the schedule, right?
And you come work for me, right?
Unlike any other job, right?
So you come work for a company, right?
And they give you a schedule, right?
What do you do?
Do you tell your boss, oh, I don't, I'm not gonna come in that day because I gotta do this.
I'm just gonna work this other day for you, right?
You know what that boss is gonna tell you?
Yeah, see you later.
There's a thousand other people out there that will replace you in a minute.
You don't get, I mean, some people get lucky, but yeah, you don't get to decide your schedule.
Unless you work for yourself, whatever the case, but this is an example, right?
You don't go to work for somebody's company if I need you, right, from 9 to 5 p.m., 9 a.m.
to 5 p.m., right?
This is what I'm in need for, right?
I need employees to work 9 to 5, Monday through Friday, right?
You don't get to come in my company, tell me, oh, well, no, I want to come in at 12 instead.
And you know, I need Tuesday off, I'll work Saturday for you.
No, that's not how it goes.
If you don't fulfill my schedule, you're fired.
Or you'll be disappointed, you know what I mean?
That's what this is talking about.
The Sabbath was made for man.
God makes the schedule, He makes the laws, the rules.
Not man for the Sabbath.
In other words, you don't get to come into my company and say, you know what?
I don't like your hours, sir, so I'm going to, instead of working 9 to 5, I'm going to come in and work from 12 to 9, or something like that.
Or, you know, I'm going to take Tuesday off, and I'll work Saturday, Sunday, but I'll take this day off.
Or I'll work a double on the Friday, and this way after coming Monday.
No, you don't get to decide that, you know?
God makes the rules.
You follow it.
That's exactly what that means.
Sabbath was made for man.
You follow God's rules.
Not man for Sabbath.
God's not going to follow your rules and work around your schedule.
Then people say, well, God knows my heart.
What does that even mean?
Our hearts are filthy, guys.
All of ours.
I know it's like, I don't know, like people go to churches.
They don't want to hear that.
Because the pastors never tell them that.
All of our hearts are filthy.
They're wretched.
Yeah, God knows our hearts.
But if you knew God... This is what I tell these people.
Oh, God knows my heart.
First of all, what does that even mean?
That has nothing to do with this.
If you knew God's heart, alright?
You know darn well you're supposed to obey His Sabbath.
You work around His schedule, He doesn't work around yours.
I can't put this in any more blunt form.
I did entire shows on this stuff, yeah?
So guys, um, yeah.
I hope you get the point here, but this is, uh, Jesus is the Lord of the Sabbath.
Plain and simple, he gets the... Who's gonna tell him what to do?
Remember, he's God in the flesh.
Who created the Sabbath?
God.
He sanctified it on the Sabbath day.
It's not just for the Jews.
The Sabbath day was created long before a Jew walked the face of the earth, okay?
When it was given to Moses on March Saturday night at the 4th commandment, not the 3rd like the Catholic Church.
The 4th commandment, right?
When it was given to Moses, right?
It was a law that was already in play.
That was reiterated at the 10 commandments.
So it's, no, it's not just for the Jews, and I hate when people give that excuse.
Oh, it's just for the Jews, but however, those same people say we're grafted into the Kingdom of Israel, right?
Which is God's spiritual Israel, not the physical Israel on Earth, right?
So... If you're grafted into Israel, right?
God's spiritual Israel, you have to follow His rules, right?
Yeah.
So, well, no, the commandments are just for the Jews.
Aren't you part of that?
You were grafted in, so you have to follow it.
Because if you go to Deuteronomy, right?
Deuteronomy 18 tells people, when you come into my land, you are not to follow the ways of those nations, those abominations.
Don't bring those abominations into my land.
This is God's spiritual Israel, not the physical nation of Israel, guys.
When we enter God, we're grafted into God's spiritual.
Once we receive Jesus Christ, right?
We are grafted into the Father's Israel.
That's the spiritual kingdom of Israel.
Not the, you know, nation Israel.
Right?
We have to leave out all the abominations that we've done in our lands yet.
In the life.
We can't bring those abominations into the land.
You know, it's like saying I can bring sexual sin into the kingdom of God.
Not gonna happen.
Plain and simple.
So the Sabbath was made for men.
You follow God's Sabbath.
Plain and simple.
Then Jesus is the Lord of Sabbath.
Plain and simple.
So it doesn't matter what he did.
It didn't work.
He simply grabbed the corn because they were hungry.
Not to go selling to synagogues.
This is the example he was given.
So I know the Sabbath laws.
Sabbath statutes, I'm sorry.
That you are not allowed to light a fire.
Alright?
Light a fire, but in other words, if you're hungry, right, and you gotta eat, and you have to cook something, you know, that's what he's saying.
Cook it.
You know, and there's many more examples coming up.
So we appreciate everybody joining us here, but yeah, this is why we need to read things in context, guys.
