Today guys, a comprehensive study of the awesome book of Matthew.
So, like we always encourage you all that you're watching or not, you listen to audio version or watching on the video here if you have a Bible, please open it up for yourselves guys even though we're going to show it on screen but we always encourage people to read the Bible for themselves.
So, what we do here guys is we pray for wisdom and understanding we have a biblical study approach here We read the context, I'm sorry, the scripture in context, because the context is key, and let the scripture interpret the scripture.
So we begin, Heavenly Father, Jesus Yeshua, please forgive us for our sins and trespasses, and we come to you, Heavenly Father, and ask for your divine wisdom.
That you can help us understand your word with the Holy Spirit, the Great Teacher, to help us bring out all the understanding, all the truth in your awesome word.
Amen.
So that being said, guys, let's just get on with the scripture, guys.
And again, we encourage you to open up your own Bible.
And if you excuse my voice today, guys, I got a little cold here.
So, please bear with me.
So, Matthew chapter 21.
So, and then when they drew nigh into Jerusalem, they were come with Bethpage, So, they come out to the Mount of Olives and Jesus sent two disciples.
So, they come out to the Mount of Olives and Jesus sent two disciples saying to them, So, you gotta find a donkey and a colt.
you and straight away you shall find an ass which is a donkey tied in a coat with her so you're going to find a donkey in a coat loose them and bring them unto me and if any man say unto you you shall say the Lord has a need for them in a straight away he will send them so
So basically he's like, yeah, go get this ass and this colt, and if anybody says anything to you, hey, listen, Jesus needs them.
So, all this was done that might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, Tell your daughter of Zion, Behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek and sitting upon an ass, and a coat of fur of an ass.
And the disciples went, and Jesus commanded them, and brought them an ass and a coat, and put them on their clothes, and they had set them thereon.
So, a great, a very great multitude spread their garments in the way.
Others cut down branches from the trees and strewed them in the way.
And the multitudes, which again, when you talk about multitudes, this is like thousands of people, just countless people.
A great crowd of people that are gathered, plain and simple.
So, in other words, a lot of people.
So again, the multitudes went before and then followed, Christ saying, Hosanna, the son of David.
Blessed is he that comes in the name of the Lord.
Hosanna is the highest, in the highest.
So Hosanna is just another name.
Jesus got many names, guys.
So if you get any people out there with their sacred name stuff that, you know, he only has one name, Yahushua, Yahshua, whatever the case, no, guys.
Jesus is known with many names, and he's God in the flesh.
You know, so he, if you call him Yeshua, Joshua, Hosanna, Savior, Lord, whatever you want to call him like that, he's going to hear you.
So don't let these people out there tell you anything different.
So, blesses he that comes in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.
And then, when he came into Jerusalem, all the city was moved saying, who is this?
So they were like astonished.
They were just moved, in other words, astonished, saying, who is this?
And a multitude said, this is Jesus, the prophet of Nazareth of Galilee.
And Jesus went to the temple of God, that's the temple there, and cast out all them that sold and bought in the temple, and overthrew the tables of the money changers and the seats of them that sold doves.
So, Jesus went to this temple that was supposed to be for prayer, for God, right?
And they made like a flea market or something, whatever you want to call it, a market inside the temple of God.
And Jesus was very upset about that.
So he went over there and like, over to tables and all this other stuff.
And he said it to them.
It is written, my house shall be called the house of prayer, but ye have made it into a den of thieves.
So every time you hear what Jesus says, it is written right?
He's talking about the Torah.
He's talking about the Old Testament Scriptures.
So again, like I repeat through the series here, how many churches today, modern day churches, say, oh, don't worry about the Old Testament?
How many times do we hear that?
All we have to do is read Matthew through Revelation and that's it.
No, we need to read Genesis through Revelation.
Because if you don't know the Old Testament, you're not going to understand what he's talking about.
He's saying it is written, that he's referring to the Old Text.
And at this point, the New Testament hasn't been written yet.
So what is he talking about?
The Old Testament, which is the Torah and such.
What do you get?
He says, as it is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer, but you have made it into a den of thieves.
And he's really ticked off at this point.
And a blind and a lame came to him in the temple and healed him.
He healed him.
So the blind, of course, you know what that is.
The lame is people who are not too smart, whatever the case.
They have some disabilities, whatever the case.
That could be a number of things, especially the terminology back then.
So the blind and lame came to Jesus at the temple and Jesus healed them.
And when the chief priests and the scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David, they were sore displeased.
So they were kind of upset that Jesus was in the temple.
Now here's a contradiction with this, right?
The chief priests and the scribes, right?
They were upset that Jesus did this in the temple.
Healed the people.
You know what I mean?
Like, what's wrong with that?
But yet, they weren't upset when they were selling things in the temple.
Exchanging money and all that.
And you gotta see why Jesus calls them hypocrites.
Because yeah, you're yelling at me because I'm healing people and helping them, right?
In the temple of God.
But yet, you're sitting there and letting these people sell things.
You turned the house of God into a market, but you're yelling at me because I'm healing people.
So yeah, and he said unto him, Here is thou what I say.
And Jesus said unto them, Ye have you never read, out of the mouth of the babes and the sucklings thou hast perfected praise?
And he left them, and he went out to the city of Bethlehem, and he lodged there.
So he slept there, whatever the case.
So he took lodge there.
So yeah, this is where he gets me, right?
Displeased because he's there healing people.
But yet, they had no problem when they were there money exchanging, selling all kinds of goods and stuff from the Temple of God.
Turning to a den of thieves, right?
But yet, they have a problem with him healing in there.
It's unreal.
It really is.
And he left them and he went out to the city of Bethany and he lodged there.
And now in the morning, as he returned to the city, he hungered.
And he went and saw a fig tree in the way.
He came to it and found nothing thereon but leaves only.
And he said unto it, let no fruit grow on these heads for it forever.
And presently the fig tree withered away.
So there's meaning behind this.
Okay, that's what we're here for, to try to pull out the meaning of this, right?
Remember how many times we heard already in the Book of Matthew here?
If a tree doesn't produce fruit, it's no good, right?
It's got to be, you know, the branches of the tree, it's got to be hemmed down and cast into the fire.
There's a spiritual significance with this, yeah.
Yeah, because we're going to find out what the Scripture interprets Scripture, right?
In verse 20, and when the disciples saw it, they marveled, saying, How soon does the fig tree wither away?
If Jesus answers them, verily I say unto you, if you have faith and doubt not, you shall not only be able to do this which is done to the fig tree, but also, if you shall say unto the mountain, Be thou removed and cast into the sea, it shall be done.
And all the things whatsoever you ask in prayer, believe in, ye shall receive.
In other words, when we talk about faith, remember the faith of the mustard seed, you can move mountains.
We already covered this in the book of Matthew, yeah?
He says believe, okay?
This is a lesson here, guys.
When you pray, you ask for something, right?
And it can't be stupid things.
Oh, make me rich.
Or, you know, God's not a genie.
He's not gonna grant you stupid things that you don't need.
Oh, Lord, I want that Ferrari up the street or something like that.
The dealership.
No.
That's not what he's talking about.
Ask things of righteousness, okay?
Things that can help you or somebody else, or maybe other people too, you know?
Ask if it's things that you need, you know, that you will receive.
Believe it, though, when you pray.
Believe in it, because believing that it's going to come true is called faith.
And you shall receive.
Might not be right away, but you will according to God's timing.
So, verse 23.
And when he is coming to the temple, the chief priests of the elders of the people came on to him as he was teaching and said, by what authority does these have these things?
And who gave you this authority?
And Jesus answered them and said, I also ask one thing, which if you tell me, I am likewise will tell you by what authority I do these things.
The baptism of John, whence was it?
From heaven or of men?
And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven he will say unto us, Why do ye not believe in him?
But if we shall say, Of men, we fear the people, for all hold John as a prophet.
So again, the priest and the scribes and all that, they were treated like denites because they knew if they would have raised hands, in other words, attacked Jesus or something like that, he had such a massive following, multitudes of people followed him, they would have uprised against the priest.
So right now what they're trying to do is they're trying to goad him.
They're trying to goad Jesus into something to say wrong.
And again, I apologize guys for my voice here.
I got a stuffy nose, so... So bear with me.
So the chief priest, they're trying to literally goad him into saying something dumb to for them to convict him.
So, and they answered Jesus and said, we cannot tell.
And he said unto them, neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.
But think ye, a certain man had two sons, and he came to the first son to go to work that day in the ridgen.
Right?
So this is a parable that Jesus talked about, right?
So this is the answer to them in the parable.
Talk about a certain man who had two sons, and he went to the first son and told him to go to work in the ridgen, right?
And the son answered and said, I will not.
But afterwards he repented and went anyway.
So he has Sunday, because he's going to work in the vineyard, right?
He says, no, I'm not going to do it.
But he ended up going.
So there's meaning behind this guy.
So this is why he talked to the parables.
So the cool thing about the parables is because Jesus knew how different words and whatnot would change meanings over the generations.
This is so every age and every generation could understand him without misinterpretation.
Clear as day.
So again, a certain man asked his son, the first son, hey, go to work in the region, right?
And he said, no, but he went anyway.
He repented, said, all right, I'm sorry, I'm going to go anyway, right?
So the man came to the second son and said, likewise, go to work in the region.
And he said, OK, I'm going to go, sir.
But he didn't go.
He went not.
So again, one son said, I'm not going to do it, but he did it anyway.
He apologized and went anyway, right?
Then the second one said, yeah, OK, I'm going to go, but never did, went.
So, whether of them twain did with the will of his father.
So he's asking, describing one of them.
Which one of these children, the sons, which one did the will of his father?
They say unto him, the first.
You know, the first was one, he said he wasn't going to go, but he apologized, repented, and did it anyway, right?
And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and the hollands go into the kingdom of God before you.
He's telling them chief priestess, okay?
The scribes, the deacons, the hierarchy, the elders basically, the top people in the Jewish faith.
He's telling them that.
The publicans and the harlots are going to go into the kingdom of God before you.
Because they didn't get his question.
They didn't understand what he was talking about.
For John came to you in the way of righteousness, right?
And there's a lesson.
Check this out, right?
And all your questions are going to be answered with this.
Yeah, coming up.
He says that John came to you in a way of righteousness, and you believed him.
No, you didn't believe him, right?
But the publicans and the harlots believed him.
So he said to the chief priests, right?
The top dogs of the Jewish faith there, right?
He's telling them, John the Baptist, right?
He came to you in a way of righteousness, right?
And you didn't believe him.
But the publicans and harlots believed him.
And ye, when you heard, have seen it, repented not afterwards, that ye might believe in him.
So if you get what this is saying guys, that's why he said don't.
Hit the publican's house and we'll get into heaven before you.
And people said, well how could that be?
He's the chief priest, he's the top dog, right?
Because, okay, the chief priests see these things and they don't believe it.
The sinners out there, the hollands, the republicans he's talking about, right?
They seen it and they repented and believed.
See where this is going?
And he doesn't stop there, Jesus.
He says, here's another parable.
There was a certain householder which planted a vineyard and hedged it around about and digged a winepress in it and built a tower and let out the husband men who went into the far country, right?
The husbandmen and the workers and whatnot.
The farm men.
The householders, the husbandmen and the workers.
So, and when the time of the fruit drew near, he sent servants to the husbandmen that they may receive the fresh fruits of it.
So, the rest 35.
And the husbandmen took his servants and beat one and killed another and stole another.
So they beat one and killed two more.
Yeah, two others, right?
The husband did.
And again, he sent other servants, more than the first, and they did unto them likewise.
But, you know, he did the same thing.
Beat one, killed another, and stoned another, whatever the case.
But last of all, he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son.
So, you know, they say, well, I'm going to send my son down because they're going to reverence him.
In other words, the servants he sent out to them to make them do their work, whatever, they beat them, killed another, stoned another, then he sent out more servants to let them know, and they did the same thing to him.
So now, you know, the husbandmen, I'm sorry, the servants, Yeah, okay, I'm sorry guys.
The householder, okay?
The householder sent his son out now, saying, well, you know what?
They're gonna reverence my son.
In other words, they're gonna listen to him.
Because he's my son.
So, but when the husband saw the son saying among themselves, this is their ear, Which is, you know, the second one in charge, because the householder there, he's the, let's just say he's the landlord, right?
The son is the next, in other words, if something happens to the landlord, the son would take over the house, whatever the case, whatever you want to call it, like a king.
The next, you know, the son would end up becoming king if the king died, you know what I mean?
So, this is what it's talking about.
So, now they, when they see the son of this husband, right?
They said to themselves, this is his here.
Come, let us kill him, and let us seize his inheritance, right?
So the inheritance, obviously, again, husband and men, if he died or something, the inheritance would go to the son, like anything else, right?
So, they thought, right, if we kill his son, we would get his inheritance.
And they caught him and cast him into the vineyard and slew him.
So they killed the son, and when the Lord, therefore, of the vineyard came, What will he do unto those husbandmen?
So he's asking, what is he going to do to those husbandmen, right?
And they said unto him, He will miserably destroy those wicked men, and will let out his wicked unto other husbandmen, which shall render him the fruits of the seasons, right?
And Jesus said unto them, Did you not ever read the Scriptures?
The stone which the builders rejected, the same has become the head of the quarter.
This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.
So the stone which the builders rejected so if you know about Freemasonry and all that stuff and I'm not getting you know the cultic side of it I'm just saying where you know masons when they build uh structures right they use uh the perfect stone for a cornerstone to build the foundation right but you know they cast away you know crappy stones whatever the case but God doesn't do that he turns something bad into good you know Just like you do with a poem, you know?
So he said it, and again, as it is written, right there.
Did you not read the scriptures?
Tell the chief priests.
The stone which the builders rejected is the same as become the head of the quarter.
This is the Lord's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.
Asking them that.
Is it marvelous in our eyes?
And therefore, I say unto you, the kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and not given to a nation, bringing forth, and giving them, sorry, the kingdom of God will be taken from you, talking to the, now, he's saying to this again, to the chief priest of Israel, and the scribes, the top people in the Israeli faith, right?
He said, the kingdom of God is going to be taken from you, and given out to a nation that brings forth fruit for us.
Yeah, whoever shall fall on the stone shall be broken, but whoever it shall fall, it will grind him to powder.
So they talk about the cornerstone that people rejected and God turned it to the cornerstone.
And if you get what this is saying guys, it's like in other words, anybody can be saved.
It doesn't matter what you've done.
You come to Jesus and if you believe in him, that's what he's saying.
Believe in me!
And again, when you go back to this, man, the chief priests, they see the things that John the Baptist has done.
They see what he's done, and they still didn't believe it.
But the holocaust believed it.
The sinners out there believed it.
They seen it like they were, wow, this is the Son of God.
And John, this is a prophet of God, you know?
They believed it, but the top dogs of Israel didn't believe it.
And this is what Jesus was telling them.
And when the chief priests of the Pharisees had heard his parables, right, they perceived that he spake of them.
But when they sought to lay hands on him, they feared that the multitude, because they took him for a prophet.
So, now the chief, again, we're just saying, the chief priests here, the Pharisees, right, they heard the parables, and they perceived that he spake of them, right?
So, Now they're upset, right?
So they're ready to lay hands on him.
In other words, they're ready to attack Jesus or just grab him.
Take him into captivity.
But they feared because there was multiple people around.
Multitudes of people around.
Watching this, you know.
And Jesus is literally putting these top chief priests into place.
Literally.
In front of the whole entire audience here, basically.
The multitude of people.
That's what he's doing, right?
So he just...
He just schooled them, basically, if you want to put it that way, right?
So now they're pissed off.
Excuse the language.
So they feared the multitude because they took him for a prophet.
So they, you know, like, you know, yeah, let's not do anything to Jesus because, yeah, we're going to get our butts kicked.
Plain and simple, because there are multitudes of people ready to defend Jesus.
So, yeah, we learned about faith, yeah?
You know, had Jesus told his own disciples about faith, and him literally schooling the chief priests, the Pharisees, and the scribes of Israel.
To say, just because you're a priest, whatever the case, yeah, doesn't mean you're guaranteed heaven.
And you didn't believe it.
You seen the stuff with your own eyes, and you didn't believe it.
But the sinners did.
They seen it.
They repented.
They're gonna get to the kingdom of God.
Not you.
That's what he's pointing out, guys.
You know, the stone, the builders rejected, end up becoming a cornerstone.
So the stone that society, you know, like us, right?
We're the remnant of God, right?
Society rejects us.
So in our life we think, oh man, we're just rejects, right?
No.
God's made us His cornerstones.
We're sinners, we come to the cross, we repent.
And you got those people out there because they're some kind of a priest or whatever, some high up in the religious order.
They are some, whatever the word of the man is, they think they automatically guarantee the seat in heaven.
And you're insignificant.
You're a peasant.
No, you're not in the kingdom of God.
They're the ones who are peasants.
And we are in the order of Melchizedek, the remnant.
So the whole point of the story here is basically the world is going to deem us guys the very few here.
As outcasts, as rejects, as losers, whatever you want to call it, right?
But to the kingdom of God, we're going to be great in the kingdom of God.
And then the ones who are going to be the peasants and outcasts.
And they're going to be outcasted where into the outer darkness where is weeping and gnashing of teeth which we're going to talk about in chapter 22 So thank you all for joining us and I again apologize about the cold here So I just try to get over this little sniffle I got so trust in the plan guys.
