truth radio show dot com and welcome to the David on show we have truth radio show dot com and biblical study of the book of Matthew and a comprehensive study and And we're on to chapter 20.
So chapter 19 was very interesting.
We learned a lot of things.
And so the book of Matthew, if you're new to this channel, guys, please subscribe to it.
Also, like, share, and everything else, and pray for us, number one.
And so, we've been doing a comprehensive study of the Book of Matthew.
If you missed chapters 1 through 19, they are in the description, so please check them out.
So, we take a specific Bible study approach, and we're not just going to read through the scriptures.
You know, it takes two minutes to read through the actual chapter, but we're not going to do that today.
So, number one, what we do is we pray for wisdom and understanding.
So, Jesus, Yeshua, Messiah, please forgive us of our trespasses and our sins.
And we come to You, our Heavenly Father, and ask You to help, I mean, I'm sorry, we ask You to install the Divine Holy Spirit within us to help us understand Your Word as we read it today in the book of Matthew, Chapter 20.
And that being said, we just pray, guys, and also we read the scripture in its context, and the context is key.
Remember that.
You know, we don't zip through the Bible, guys.
You're not supposed to do that like a novel or a book.
You're supposed to actually take your time, take your sweet time and understand each word and understand what it means.
And let the scripture interpret the scripture.
Don't lean on your own understanding.
Let the Holy Spirit interpret it for you, and let the scripture interpret it as well.
So we move on to the book of Matthew, chapter 20.
And if you don't got a Bible, guys, go on online if you're watching the video or the audio series here.
If you're on the audio series, guys, whip out your Bibles.
If you're on the screen, straight up on the screen, as you see here.
So before we begin with chapter 20, we left off where, at the time, when they did chapter 19 here, we left off chapter 30.
Verse 30 says, "...but many that are first shall be last, and the last will be first." So, at the time I didn't understand what that meant, but what it is, is that it continues on to chapter 20.
So, you've also got to remember too, when the book of Matthew was written, in the Bible in general, there was no such thing as verses and chapters.
There was just one straight up book, and they, you know, over the years, the verses and chapters were added for better navigation for the Scriptures.
So, in chapter 19, we were in the review.
We learned about how serious, when it comes to children, once again, how serious Jesus takes children, you know what I mean?
And also, we learned about marriage and divorce.
You know what I mean?
A little bit about marriage and divorce.
We're going to learn more about this stuff as we go on through the chapters here.
And we learned about forgiveness.
You know what I mean?
Plain and simple.
You know what I mean?
If you don't forgive, Summary, God's not going to forgive you.
You know what I mean?
Put it in simple.
So... And we've learned so much stuff over the last two chapters, so... We're on to chapter 20, and again, this ended, that many that are fresh shall be last, and the last shall be fresh.
So what does this mean?
And at the time I don't understand it, and now I do, because on chapter 20, again, let the scripture interpret the scripture, because it's repeated again once more, as we go into the book of 20, uh, chapter 20 here.
So...
Now, Jesus is saying, So he's describing what heaven is like.
It's like a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard, right?
So he's describing what heaven is like.
It's like a man that is a householder, which went out early in the morning to hire laborers into his vineyard, right?
Now listen to this carefully.
And since this is a parable, I mean, usually we break down every verse, but this is a parable on one, so...
And when he agreed that with the laborers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard.
So he went out looking for, this is describing, the parable is describing the kingdom of heaven.
So he told them the pay is a penny a day, plain and simple.
And he sent them into the vineyard.
Then he went out about the third hour, And saw other people standing by in the marketplace and he said to them, go also into the vignette and whatsoever is right I will give you.
And they went their way.
So basically you work, you know, give you your pay, whatever the case.
So again, he went out on the sixth hour now, then again on the ninth hour and did likewise.
And about the eleventh hour, he went out and found others standing by and said to them, why you stand here all day idle?
You know, they're just standing around waiting, you know?
And they said to him, because no man has hired us.
Now, mind you, this is talking about people standing around looking for work.
You know what I mean?
They're standing around looking for somebody to hire them to help, you know, to make money, right?
So, this is the 11th hour, we went out, and there was more people out there just standing by.
And they said, well, because we're standing around because nobody hired us today.
So he said to them, well, go also into the vineyard, and whatever is right you shall receive.
Right?
So mind you, he told everybody, no matter what hour it was, right away, the third, the sixth, the ninth, and the fifth hour, it's a penny a day, plain and simple, right?
So, verse 8, I mean, so when evening was to come, you know, the night, evening, as we call it today, was to come, the lord of the vineyard said it to a steward, which is usually the supervisor, whatever the case, call all the laborers which is usually the supervisor, whatever the case, call all the laborers and give them the hire, beginning from the last unto So basically, again, you got to understand what's going on here, right?
So, he's telling his, like, what would be a supervisor or whatever the key is, the steward, to get all the laborers, right?
And the people who came early in the morning, all the way up until the people who came at night, right?
So, he said, have the last of them, you know, whoever came in, you know, within the last hour, have them come and stand in line first.
There's a lesson behind this, right?
You would figure, because you were the first one there during the day, right?
And you worked all morning and all that, you should be the first in line, right?
But there's a lesson behind us.
Okay?
So, and when they came, they were hired about the 11th hour, they received a man a penny.
So the people who were in line first were the ones who just got there in the 11th hour, right?
And the people have been here all day, they were last in line.
So basically everybody got a penny.
Plain and simple.
So, it doesn't matter if you work there, let's just say it's 11 o'clock at night where you are, right?
And you...
We were all working a vineyard, right?
And you got there early in the morning, I just got there just a little while ago, but we all got a penny.
And I was the first in line, you were the last in line, you know what I mean?
So, but anyway, when the first came, you know, the first person that was there, they came to suppose that they should have received more than just a penny, and likewise received every man a penny.
So the people who were there first and second and all that, they think they should have got more than the person who just got there, right?
Even though you told them that was only a penny a day, you know?
So anyway, when they had received it, they murmured against the good men of the house.
So they received their pay, all of them got a penny each.
And they started murmuring, you know, like, oh man, what the heck, you know?
And saying that the last two were but one hour and thou hast made them equals unto us which have been born and burned in the heat of all day.
So they're saying we've been here all day.
All of us have been here all day and you just hired these people an hour ago.
And they get the same pay, but we've been here all day doing hate, you know what I mean?
And now there's a lesson, that usually this wouldn't be fair.
If you worked in a company or whatever, yeah, it wouldn't be fair.
It's understandable, but this is a lesson behind us.
Remember this, right?
And verse 13 says, "...but he answered one of them and said, Friend, I do need no rung.
This thou not agree for me for one penny?" So you already agreed to work, you know, I'm gonna point you to work, you already agreed to work for a penny.
So literally it doesn't matter if he came an hour ago, everybody agrees to work for a penny, a penny a day.
So take thine is, and go away, go thy way, and I will give unto the last, even though as thee.
So, in other words, everybody's getting a penny.
Alright, plain and simple.
Doesn't matter if it's been here all day, or a couple hours, or just got here.
You're getting a penny.
You agree to it.
So, verse 15, and there's a lesson behind this, guys.
So, it is not lawful for me to do what I will with my own.
Is it?
You know, he's asking this question.
Is it not lawful that I can do what I want, basically, with my own property and, you know, company, whatever?
Is dying nine evil?
Because I'm good.
So is my eye evil?
Because I'm good.
And he says, so the last shall be first, and the first shall be last.
And many be called, but few are chosen.
So again, we left off chapter 19 wondering what this meant.
So the last shall be first and the first shall be last, right?
And I asked for people to put the comments in the comment section if you knew what that meant, because I didn't know what it meant at the time.
But now reading this, we said that the Scripture interprets Scripture.
Here we are, we're just seeing a clean example right there of how the Scripture interprets Scripture.
This is beautiful.
This beautiful example right there.
Let the scripture interpret scripture, right?
And again, chapter 19, we left off, right?
But there are many firsts, I'm saying, but there are many firsts shall be last, and the last shall be first.
Now, you know, what does that mean?
You know what I mean?
We didn't know what that meant, but again, let the scripture interpret scripture, and on to the next chapter, we learn in verse 16, so the last shall be first, the first shall be last, and for many be called, but few are going to be chosen.
So, then again, there's a lesson behind this.
Now before we actually get into that, I want to explain this, alright?
In other words, what he's saying is like, yeah, everybody has the opportunity to go to heaven.
Because you see here they went into, this is a parable talking about how he went out into The land to look for workers, right?
And you say, yeah, heaven is like any, like, untidy man that has a household which needs workers for his, you know, laborers for his land, which is workers, right?
In other words, they'll go out and hire people.
If you're standing around and you need work, we're gonna hire you.
In other words, the kingdom of heaven is open to anybody.
And a penny a day is what you talk about, in other words, like a salvation.
So, it doesn't matter if you've been in heaven for, uh, or, you know, a church, we'd say, right?
Just say you've been in church all your life, right?
Some guy comes around, just like, the last hour, like the man on the cross, as we're gonna get into in the later chapters, right?
The man on the cross, right?
There was a thief.
We're gonna discuss this as we go along.
He was a thief all his life, and, you know, just bad things all his life, right?
And just that one minute before his death, he said, Jesus, please remember me when you enter Father's kingdom.
He understood that Jesus did nothing because we deserve to be here, he doesn't.
What did Jesus tell him?
From this day forward you'll be with me in paradise.
Now you got people out there all the time saying, well I've been serving God for years, how come it's not fair that this person just waltzes in and gets the same as me?
In other words, you're not going to be any better in the kingdom of God than the next person.
You know what I mean?
That's what it's saying.
Some people think, I've been serving the Lord all my life and all that, you know, going to church and all that, and I should get a better reward than the person who just came to the cross.
No, it doesn't work like that.
The one penny you talk about is like salvation, you know what I mean?
Same salvation is offered to you, that's been a believer for 20 years, versus the believer that just came to the cross just now.
Or an hour ago, or two minutes ago.
And then he says, many will be called, but few will be chosen.
So a lot of people out there proclaim to believe in Jesus, right?
How many of them are really going to be called?
Chosen, I'm sorry.
How many of them?
Everybody's called.
Many are called.
But only a few are going to be chosen.
What does that mean?
Because people decide to go astray and not listen to sound doctrine and everything else?
Because we see a lot of these worldly questions we see?
Things like that.
And this goes... A lot of explanation for this right here.
This is a lesson to be taught.
This is why he talked in parables, so we all can understand all through the ages of what he's talking about.
Because words change meanings throughout the ages.
So he talked in parables, this way we could all understand him.
He said this is like the kingdom of heaven.
So it doesn't matter what you did or how long you been what?
You are no better than the person who just got saved just now.
Everybody's equal.
Plain and simple.
So moving on, Jesus going up to Jerusalem took 12 disciples apart in the way and he said to them, Behold, we go up to Jerusalem and the Son of Man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes and they shall condemn him to death and shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock and to scourge and to crucify him and the third day he shall rise.
So he's telling them, the disciples, we're going to Jerusalem now.
Yeah, this is this is where we're apart basically, you know what I mean?
And he's telling them, I'm going to be crucified.
I'm going to be betrayed, and we know he does get betrayed.
I'm going to be betrayed and I'm going to be crucified and condemned to death.
But I will rise again on the third day.
But even before he gets to Jerusalem, he's telling them what's going to happen.
Specifically, in detail, right?
So, verse 20 says, They came to him, the mother of Zedes, children with her sons, worshiping him, and desired a certain thing of him.
So this woman with two sons wanted Jesus' favor from him, right?
So, and he turned to her, he said to her, I'm sorry, What will thou want?
And she said to him, Grant that these, my two sons, may sit, one on the right hand and the other on the left, in the kingdom.
So she's concerned about her sons, you know what I mean?
And basically saying, hey, you know, when the time comes and the passing of my children, hey, I want them to be with you in the kingdom of God, right?
Jesus answered and said that you know not what you ask.
You don't know what you're asking, basically.
Are you able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of?
And are you to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?
They say unto him, we are able.
So he's asking him, are you able to be baptized?
Are you able to drink from the cup that I drink from?
In other words, believe in me, you know what I mean?
And they said, we're able, right?
And he said unto them, you shall drink indeed of my cup and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with.
But to sit on my right hand and my left is not mine to give.
But it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of by my Father.
Again, go back here, right?
It says, for many be called and few be chosen, right?
So he's telling them.
It is not mine to give.
But it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father, right?
God, plain and simple.
And when the ten heard it, they were moved in indignation against the two brethren.
But Jesus called them and said unto them, Ye know that the princess of the Gentiles exercises dominion over them, and they are of the great exercise of authority upon them.
So he's saying that the princess, you know, obviously has authority over the Gentiles, right?
But he said, and it shall be not so among you, but whoever is great among you, let him be your minister.
So again, it goes back to the last shall be first, the first shall be last.
Few be called, I'm sorry, many will be called, few be chosen, right?
So the first, last, last, first.
So he's saying that usually the princess rules over the Gentiles, right?
But in this case, it's gonna be the other way around.
But it shall not be among you, so among you, but whoever will be great among you, let him be your minister.
But whoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant.
Even as the Son of Man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister and give his life for ransom for many.
This is like a parable of humbleness.
So it doesn't matter if you're a king, a governor, a queen, whatever the case, you're no better than your servants in the kingdom of God.
This is what he's trying to explain there.
For us, last and last, for us, people think they have better authority in heaven because they've been to the ministry longer.
Or they have a better place in the kingdom of God than the person who just came to the cross today.
No.
Or if you're a king or a queen or some kind of authority, No.
In the Kingdom of God, everybody's equal.
This is what I'm, like, seeing here.
Because he's telling you, yeah, the prince is the head of the Gentiles, yeah.
But it's the other way around.
In the Kingdom of God, you know what I mean?
Let them, you know, be humble.
You know what I mean?
So, in other words, it doesn't matter what your authority is in wrath.
That's what it's saying.
That has nothing to do with it.
A person can be a ruler all their life, right?
Become a king at the age of 7, right?
And they die at 60 years old?
That already means nothing in the kingdom of God.
Point and simple.
So, they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed them.
Again, multitude is probably thousands of people, you know what I mean?
Untold numbers of people.
So, and behold, two blind men sitting by the wayside, when they heard that Jesus passed by, they cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David.
And the multitude rebuked them, saying, because they should hold this peace, but cried more and more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, the son of David.
So the people that were following him, here we go with the first and last thing, right?
That's the first.
The people that were already following him, right?
Were asking Jesus things, right?
And they just come across these two blind men that asked them, say, Hey, Jesus, you know, help us.
And mind you, these people have been found by his wayside for a while, right?
And now they just come across these two blind men that are just like new to the cliques, so to speak, right?
And ask to be heard, right?
And the people rebuked them.
So, no, we were here first.
We want to see him first.
We want to talk to him first and get healed first, whatever the case, right?
So again, even though they got rebuked, the blind men cried out for Jesus.
And Jesus just stood still.
So he stopped, or whatever he was doing, called to them, I mean called them, I'm sorry, and said, What will ye that I shall do for you?
And they said to him, Lord, our eyes may be opened.
Again, they say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened.
Because again, these guys are blind, right?
So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes, and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him.
So if you can see what's going on here and we'll get this continues on to the next chapter to chapter 21 Which will be the next video.
So As you can see here.
In other words, like you got a bunch of people here following him.
They've been following him for a while, right?
For the whole day, whatever the case, and they just come across, randomly, two guys with blind eyes, and they realize it was Jesus, right?
They asked Him.
They said, Jesus, help us.
You know what I mean?
And all the people rebuked Him.
In other words, like, we've been following Him all day.
You know what I mean?
He's got to get to us first.
You just come along.
You know what I mean?
We just come along.
You gotta wait.
Jesus stopped and said, nope.
And healed them right away.
But there's a lesson behind this.
We're going to learn more about this lesson in chapter 21.
And the whole lesson so far is like, again, I don't mean to sound repetitive, but just because, and there's a lot of people out there, there's a lot of people out there that think because they're ministers, or they're a son of a minister, or whatever the case, they've been working in the church, or anything like that, right?
Or the, you know, televangelists, or whatever the case, pastors, they think, there are people literally out there that think they have a better spot in heaven.
They're gonna be chosen first.
When the Lord comes back.
Now, This is saying that everybody's going at the same time.
You agree to a penny a day, doesn't matter if you've been here all day, doesn't matter if you've been here an hour.
Everybody gets a penny.
Bottom line.
In other words, when he comes back, it doesn't matter if you've been in the ministry for 20 years, and the guy next to you just two seconds ago became to the cross, right?
If he comes back, you're all going together.
You're not going to have any better, greater, you know, person, you're not going to be any greater in the kingdom of heaven than that guy.
You know what I mean?
That just came to the cross.
This is, you know, we're all equal.
You know what I mean?
This is what it's saying.
And again, he uses parables like this to teach lessons.
And he taught the people that followed him, not only told them this parable, right?
About the vineyard.
But he demonstrated this parable later, when they came across, they were following him all day, right?
He demonstrated this, when he came across two men, now Matthew, all day long these people followed him, right?
These men, they came across, the two blind men, they went following him all day.
They happened, Jesus and the people happened to come across them.
And all day long these people have been waiting to get blessed and healed and everything else.
And they yelled at him, it's like, oh no, you gotta wait your turn.
Jesus stopped them, just to teach a lesson here.
This was done and he did a physical lesson on us.
Told the parable about the vineyard.
And did a physical lesson on what he was talking about.
The first and the last and the last and the first.
And we're going to get more into that in chapter 21.
So thank you guys for joining us.
Beautiful study, yeah.
It really is.
And it's a little relatively short video compared to what you used to do, but we always encourage people to trust the real plan and that the only plan that is 100% right is the Holy Bible.
Plain and simple.
And don't take my word or anybody else's word for it.
You need to read it and study it for yourself.
And when you do that, guys, take your time.
Read it in its context.
Don't flip through it like, you know, 34 verses we could have just like banged through it in two minutes if we just read it right out.
But that's not what we do.
You know what I mean?
You need to take your time.
Understand everything.
Let the Scripture interpret Scripture.
We just proved today how the Scripture interpreted the Scripture.

So God willing So again, it was amazing just demonstrate which one one more time here just demonstrate when we talked about earlier and if you've been following the series you hear that every show I Let the Scripture interpret Scripture.
Again, we left off chapter 19, the last video.
I even asked people this.
I don't know what this means at the time, right?
But there are first shall be last, and the last shall be first, right?
So I didn't know what that meant.
And I asked people's help in the comments, whatever the case.
But I didn't even need their help, because guess what?
Let the Scripture interpret Scripture.
We didn't know what that meant.
Until you read chapter 20, the next chapter, when it perfectly described what he was talking about.
He gave a parable demonstration, a parable of what he was talking about with that, right?
Then he gave a live physical demonstration of that.
And there's more to come.
So once again, thank you guys for joining us in our Book of Matthew series, our in-depth comprehensive study in Chapter 20.
