truthradioshow.com Good evening and shalom and welcome to the Dan Padonis Show on truthradioshow.com So we're doing a comprehensive study of the book of Matthew chapter 16.
So if you missed this chapter 1 to 15, it's in the playlist here.
So a comprehensive study we do is to take our time reading and to fully understand and comprehend what the Bible has to say.
So we've got a specific biblical study approach.
So number one, we pray for wisdom and understanding.
So we pray to our Lord and Savior Jesus.
Our great Redeemer, to please forgive us for our sins and make us whole before the Lord, our Heavenly Father.
And Heavenly Father, we ask You to help us understand Your Word.
We ask You to send the Holy Spirit upon us, the Great Teacher, the Great Comforter, to teach us Your Word today.
So what we do, and amen.
So what we do, guys, also, is we read the scripture in context, because context is key.
We don't just redo this, I mean, like any other site, you can just redo the Bible in two minutes.
No, we're not doing that today.
We've got to read it in its context, because context is key, and let the scripture interpret scripture.
Plain and simple.
So, um, and let's begin.
So we left off at chapter 15, a little quick summary of chapter 15.
It's basically Jesus talking about the traditions of men, Because the Pharisees here, they were griping because the apostles didn't wash their hands because it was a tradition, their tradition to wash hands.
But Jesus also threw it back at them, saying what they're doing is, the things they were doing was transgressing the commandment of God by their tradition.
So we learned that traditions of men, we're not supposed to follow, we're supposed to follow God, not traditions of men, you know what I mean?
And also how Jesus fed, I believe it's 5,000, 4,000 men with five loaves of bread and a few fish.
So what we do now is continue on to chapter 16.
And I encourage you to open your own Bible.
We always encourage you to use the King James or something older.
Because new Bibles, we don't trust that much.
It's, you know, because of the context of it.
They take out keywords and entire verses or change them, which is, you know, a big no-no in the Book of Revelation.
You know what I mean?
So anyway, King James or older, but whatever, get your Bible out, guys.
Or go on the screen and open up another tab if you are on the listening site.
Because a lot of shows that do share a context are audio only.
and And the ones that are video, obviously, you can see the Bible up on the screen.
So, let's begin.
So... Chapter 1, so the Pharisees also with the Seduces came and attempted Tempting desired him that he would show them a sign from heaven.
So tempting Jesus to show them a sign from heaven.
And Jesus answered them, and he goes, When it is evening, you say, it will be fair weather, for the sky is red, and in the morning it will be foul weather, today, For the sky is red and lowering.
O ye hypocrites, ye discern the face of the sky, but you cannot discern the signs of the times.
So you want to say I'm from heaven?
I mean, it's right there.
You can easily discern, you know, when the weather's going to be and whatnot.
But you can't discern the signs of the times.
That these guys here, the Sadducees should, the Pharisees, I'm sorry, should know very well what he's talking about.
You know, the prophecies and everything else.
Because here they are trying to challenge Jesus.
And as we read through the last several chapters, they're sitting there trying to challenge Jesus all the time.
Because they think he's becoming blasphemous for the Father.
And not acknowledging that he is the Son of Man, the Son of God, the Messiah.
So, a wicked man in the adulterous generation seeketh after a sign.
And there shall be no sign to be given unto you, but the sign of the prophet Jonas, and he left them and departed.
So he says, he calls a wicked, adulterous generation seeking after a sign.
And there shall be no sign to be given to them, but the sign of Jonas, prophet Jonas.
And he is, we say, I am that sign.
You say you are a sign from heaven, but I'm right here.
You've seen all the stuff I've done.
All the people are healed and all the things I've done and you want a sign from heaven?
You're looking at that sign.
That's what he's saying.
You're looking.
He's right here.
The prophet Jonah said about me coming and everything else about, you know, what's gonna happen.
I'm right here.
That's what he's saying.
And when the disciples were to come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.
So then Jesus said unto them, take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees.
So, and they reasoned among themselves, saying, it is because we have taken no bread.
So the disciples, because he's talking about leaven, you know what I mean?
So automatically they think he's talking about bread, you know what I mean?
So they're like, uh-oh, we forgot the bread, you know?
So they'll huddle up together, and what do we do, you know?
We forgot the bread.
So, verse 8 says, which is then, when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye who have little faith, why reason amongst yourselves, because you have brought no bread?
You don't, do you not understand me?
Neither remember the five loaves of the 5,000 people and how many baskets you took up?
And neither the seven loaves of the 4,000 people and how many baskets you took up?
So we read this in previous chapters.
Five loaves to 5,000 people.
And in another time, which was the prior chapter here, seven loaves of the 4,000 people.
And how many baskets they took up, and this one here was seven baskets full.
These are the scraps, the remains, the leftovers, right?
Out of seven loaves of bread, you know, which would basically just about feed the apostles themselves.
But they managed, because Jesus blessed them to heaven, and he was able to feed 4,000 people with only seven loaves of bread and a couple of fish.
So he's saying, don't you remember this stuff?
That we did this?
And how is it that you don't understand that I speak unto you not concerning the bread?
But you should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and the Sadducees?
You know, so I guess they don't even talk about the bread because he mentioned leaven, but no, let's talk about the Sadducees, you know what I mean?
Thank you.
He's warning them about them, you know what I mean?
He said, take heed and beware of the leaven of the bread.
In other words, like, they're trying to accuse Jesus of being a false prophet and blasphemy and all that.
So they're going to do it with them, you know?
So, anyway.
So, verse 12 says, then understood, they understood then, that's what it says there, they howled at, they begged them not to beware of the leaven of the bread.
But the doctrine of the Pharisees and of Sadducees, So basically, Jesus said, don't let them bait you into their doctrine.
Plain and simple, because they're going to try to trick them.
That's what we say.
You know what I mean?
So when Jesus came into the coast of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, whom do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?
So who do they say I am?
And they said, some say that you are John the Baptist, some say Elias, and some others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.
So, they're calling Jesus everything, okay, but the Messiah.
Everything but the Son of Man.
A prophet?
Is it John the Baptist?
Is it Elijah?
Elias, I'm sorry?
Is it Jeremias?
And he said unto them, but who say ye that I am?
Whom say that I am who I am?
And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, Son of the living God.
And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona, for flesh and blood has revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
And I say also unto thee, Thou art Peter, And upon this rock I will build my church and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
So I want to stop right there for a minute too because this says a lot of these verses what they do it's like a lot of these verses they take single verses such as this to try to defend their faith to try to defend their false doctrine and when you take one single verse guys you can get to ten different people you could probably have ten different nine ten different interpretations but when you read it in its context Yeah, it's clear as day, you don't need to interpret it.
You know what I mean?
So what religions do, and I want to point out right now, I don't follow any religion.
I don't belong to any of the 40,000 different denominations of Christianity.
Don't belong to the Catholic Church.
Don't belong to any of that.
None at all.
I follow Jesus Christ directly.
In the Word of God.
Plain and simple.
Don't need no middleman.
So what is he saying here?
Well, Peter, I'm going to build my church upon this rock.
That I'll build my church.
And the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
So with the Catholic Church, we all heard the church, the church, the church, the church.
Over and over again, right?
It's like when you repeatedly hear on TV all the time, right?
By politicians, teachers, presidents, leaders, the media, for the United States of America, this democracy, this democracy, this democracy.
The United States is not a democracy.
It never was.
But they repeat it over and over and over and over again to make you think it's a democracy.
No, we are a constitutional republic.
And the reason why I'm saying this, because here we have Jesus saying that Peter is the rock of the church he's going to build upon, right?
So, when you hear the church... Right?
The church, the church, the church, from the Catholic Church, they automatically assume that's who they're talking about.
They falsely say that Peter was the first Pope.
Now just a quick history reminder that the Catholic Church didn't come along until Constantine.
Constantine was the first Pope.
And it's hundreds of years later after Peter was already dead.
And Peter would not be quite dead being a Pope.
Pope means a vicar of Christ, a substitute Christ.
Which is blasphemy.
And a Pope is called the Holy Father in the Catholic Church.
That's a smack in the face to our Creator.
There's only one Holy Father.
And that's on the throne of heaven.
Plain and simple.
So I want to debunk that right now because Peter is not, because they say the Catholic Church uses this verse right here for their defense to say they are the true church of grace, right?
Again, the Catholic Church didn't exist then.
This church he's talking about is not a religion, it's not an establishment, it's not a building, it's not an organization.
It's me, you, and everybody else here with two more gathered in his name, we are the church.
And all of us are part of the church.
We are the body of Christ.
That's what church is talking about.
Not a church in the physical realm, man.
So he tells Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.
That's why today, guys, we have the faith in the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Because the gates of hell, no matter how many times they tried, they could not prevail against it.
Plain and simple.
And our church today continues through Jesus Christ.
It's not the Mormon church, it's not the Catholic church, it's not the Christian churches.
It is we the people of Jesus Christ, plain and simple.
And the gates of hell will not prevail against us, plain and simple.
They've been trying forever.
And yeah, we're going to be brought up to reflection and everything else, yeah.
That's what the Bible says, but it's not going to prevail against the church of Jesus.
And he goes, I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatsoever there shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever shall be loose on earth shall be loose in heaven.
So, um, I'm learning as I go along myself.
So if you guys want to add anything to this, please put it in the comments section.
I'm still learning this stuff on my own, guys.
So, um, I don't know how many times I've read the book of Matthew, it's just more stuff you learn as you go on, you know what I mean?
And I really believe it's what the Holy Spirit reveals to you at a certain time for a certain reason.
So, he says he's going to give Peter the keys of the kingdom of heaven.
And whatever you do here on earth is going to be bound in heaven.
And whatever you loose on earth is going to be loosed on heaven.
So, which I believe this here is saying like, you know, the whole gospel.
You know, just the testimony and everything.
That you're going to be able to help people to salvation.
If you got the keys of heaven, that means you can help people to salvation.
That's what I think of it is, and also there's more meaning to this.
And if you guys want to help me out with that, that's cool.
I'll put it in the comment section.
So yeah, whatever she'll be buying under earth, she'll be bound in heaven.
So what you do under earth, it's going to be shown in heaven.
You know what I mean?
And what you loose under earth, it's going to be lost in heaven.
Loosed in heaven, you know?
So then Jesus, I'm sorry, then charged his disciples that they should not tell no one That Jesus is the Christ.
So Jesus told him, don't tell anybody I'm the Christ.
So from that time forth began Jesus to show to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes and be killed and be raised again on the third day.
So he's telling them right here, listen.
And this is the fulfillment of his coming.
You know what I mean?
Like his manifestation in flesh.
To be that final lamp sacrifice for our sins.
To die for the sins of the world.
He's saying, look, I'm going to go into Jerusalem, right?
I'm going to suffer many things from the elders.
They're going to be brought him up to a court.
The elders and the chief priests and the scribes.
They're going to charge him guilty, blasphemy and everything else, and he's going to be killed.
And I'm going to rise again in three days.
In three days, three nights, in the third day.
So then Peter took him and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord, this shall not be unto thee.
So, what he's saying here, I know it's old English, but Peter went to Jesus and said, No, don't do this.
Just go far from away.
Go far away so this doesn't have to happen.
Because Peter's like, I don't want you to die, you know what I mean?
Just go.
Because he's saying that Jesus told him, hey listen, I'm going to be brought into trial and I'm going to be convicted and I'm going to be killed.
And Peter's like, no, no, no, don't do this, don't do this, you know what I mean?
Just go far away, you know?
And then we'll find him, you know?
But Jesus turned to Peter and said, get behind me, Satan.
So he's saying, like, in other words, like, you know why I'm here.
Why are you trying to prevent this?
Don't intervene.
I have to do this.
Point and simple.
And Peter at this point, yeah, he should know pretty well, you know what I mean?
Like, yeah, of course, if we were there, we wouldn't want Jesus to be killed either.
But, we know why he was called, you know, why he was born for, you know?
To be, to save the world, you know what I mean?
So, and then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.
So, this is the key to salvation, you know what I mean?
What you do is, if you want to emulate Messiah, you need to deny yourself.
Deny yourself and everything, and take up your cross to follow Him.
And it's moral.
So, for whoever shall save his life, shall lose it.
And whoever lose his life, for my sake shall find it.
What does that mean?
It's all in context, yeah.
In other words, you need to be crucified on the cross still.
Spiritually speaking, you know what I mean?
So your former self needs to be dead.
And that's why it's called born again.
You're born again in the flesh, you're a new person.
Not that you physically go into a womb and born again, but yeah, you should know what I'm talking about.
In a spiritual sense, yeah.
And the thing is here, this goes a long way too, for whoever shall save his life and lose it, shall lose it.
In other words, if you're brought up to trial, which we know will come one day, when they're gonna tell you, like, if you don't deny Jesus, hey, we're gonna kill you.
And if you deny Jesus, we'll probably, we'll give you the world, we'll give you the world, and you'll save your life.
So that's exactly, you know, what this is talking about.
Because Jesus spoke for all ages, not just that, you know, car and wine.
So, yeah, so basically, if they bring you up for affliction, and you deny Jesus, right?
You'll save your life, yeah, yeah, absolutely.
But you're gonna lose it in the end, yeah, eternal life.
And whoever shall lose his life, in other words, if you're killed in Jesus' name, you, you are gonna find it, you know what I mean?
If you're brought up to that, you know, like when it comes time to take the mark of the beast.
And they, you know, the Bible tells you flat out you're going to be beheaded for your faith.
If you're caught in captivity and it's time to take them out to the beach and you say no, they're going to kill you.
Examples like that.
You need to, you know, stand for Jesus.
Because Jesus says in the scriptures here as well, if you deny me before man, I will deny you before the Father.
Plain and simple.
So that's in other words of it's saying, you know.
And he says, so what shall a man profit if he shall gain the whole world and lose his own soul?
Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?
Yeah.
You know, Satan can promise you the world, cars, money, everything you could ever dream of, right?
What is he going to profit, your soul?
What is he going to profit you?
Yeah, sure, you live by 40, 50, 60, 70 years, if you're lucky, 80 or 90, right?
Then you're dead for eternity.
Your soul is gone into hell.
So what is it going to profit you if you gain the whole world and you lose your soul?
And what can you give in exchange for your soul?
You can't give nothing.
Not at that point, especially.
I mean, if you give your heart to Jesus and stand by it, yeah, you'll gain eternal life.
And for the Son of Man shall come in the glory of His Father with angels, and then He shall reward every man according to his works.
And we understand, yes, we're saved by grace and that works.
That's understandable.
But, as a person of faith, you need to produce good works still.
And we just talked about this in the last couple chapters, talking about the trees, the parables there.
The good tree produces good fruit, the bad tree produces bad fruit.
And he also says, bad trees can never produce good fruit, nor could a good tree produce bad fruit.
So you have a good tree, produce that good fruit.
Don't let it sit there because you're useless.
If you have a good tree and you're not producing fruit, what good are you?
The point of the tree is to produce good fruit.
So if you're not producing that fruit, what good are you?
But to produce that fruit, you'll be rewarded according to your works.
And no, it's not saying that your works get you to heaven, no.
But you're going to be rewarded by the Father.
Then he goes on to say, verily I say unto you, there should be some standing here which shall not taste of death till they see the Son of Man come in his kingdom.
So, which I believe this, I'm sorry, what I'll talk about later, when he's in the Spirit and he ascends into heaven.
God.
After he's crucified, he's resurrected, And he goes to speak to some of the disciples on Mount of Olives, then he ascends into heaven with the angels, right?
So, here's the thing, right?
This is, um... This here, again, the Son of Man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels, and then shall reward every man according to his works.
And verily I say to you, there shall be some of you standing here which shall not taste of death till they see the Son of Man coming in his kingdom.
So coming to this kingdom, which in the Old Testament would be going into his kingdom.
Because his kingdom is not of this world.
So he can't be coming into the world.
You know what I mean?
So he's coming into his kingdom.
In other words, going into his kingdom.
So I want to point this out right here, because it's very important, guys.
There's a wacky religion out there, I believe I should say.
It's called Pre-Truism.
They use this verse right here, and we're going to get to a couple of verses in Matthew 24.
Out of context and all that, they use these verses to defend the pre-Turism theory.
They believe that Jesus returned in 70 A.D.
and all was fulfilled.
All the prophecies, you know, all the prophecies Jesus talked about, Revelation and all that, all was fulfilled in 70 A.D.
And as you can see here, guys, we're in the year 2020, and we can clearly see none of that's true.
So they'll use this verse right here, it's the biggest verse they use to defend us.
Don't be deceived by that, because... Yeah, it sounds like... To see the Son of Man coming in this kingdom... You gotta understand, guys, this is old text.
Son of Man coming in this kingdom.
He's going into his kingdom.
He's coming into the kingdom, but it's not the earth.
They say, well, this is him saying that he's returning.
To the earth for the second coming.
No, that's not yet.
Because he gives you the prophecies.
In Matthew 24, he talks about the prophecies that have to happen first before he returns.
And that's just starting to happen with these generations.
We'll get to that in Matthew 24, but I just want to point this out, guys, because this is a verse that's taken out of context and misquoted by the pre-christian people.
Now again, when we get to the chapter there, when Jesus, he's already been crucified, right?
You gotta see this.
He's already been crucified.
He's back in the, you know, resurrected.
And before he sends it to heaven, right?
He's on Mount of Olives, right?
Telling his disciples, that's where we go to Matthew chapter 24.
He tells all this, because the disciples ask him, when will be the sign of your return?
And he gives them all the prophecies that have to happen first before his return.
Then what does Jesus do, right?
He ascends into heaven with the angels.
So we'll get to that, because again, especially being Old English too, people could misunderstand these verses, you know what I mean?
And I'm not saying to use the New World Bible, because the New World Bibles change the meanings of words, they change keywords, and they change entire verses, or delete entire verses.
So don't let this confuse you to believe that, uh, yeah, the pre-truism is correct.
No, it's not.
Plain and simple.
And he fulfilled that because some of the apostles that were left didn't taste death yet.
They seen him going, come into the kingdom, in his kingdom.
They seen him.
That means, you know, when he follows, he ascended to heaven.
When he was in the spirit after the crucifixion.
And the resurrection.
He ascended into heaven.
Coming into his kingdom.
So we'll get to that other time.
So uh... And I know sometimes it's hard to understand these things guys.
And it took me a while to understand this stuff.
Because when they do this verse at me.
I'm like whoa!
Okay.
And it took me a while.
But you need to let the Holy Spirit work with you to understand what he's talking about.
Cause coming into his kingdom.
His kingdom is in here.
It's in heaven.
That's when he ascended off of Mount Avalos into heaven.
Amen.
And there was angels there with him.
So, plain and simple.
We're going to get to that then.
I want to thank you all for joining us here on TruthRadioShow.com.
And guys, very important, I have to say this again, it's very important that you always study the scriptures in context.
Because if we would have read through this, you could have took a thousand different interpretations, and you don't need to interpret the Bible.
Because it's description interprets itself.
If you read it in its context... We face this all the time, guys, when we go to churches.
When we go to different churches, guys, and you face this all the time.
You know what I mean?
They'll throw a couple verses out in a chapter, then they'll frog hop to another chapter.
Back and forth, back and forth with one or two verses here and there.
To paint a story, to build up a story, that's out of context.
That's not how we're supposed to read the Bible, guys.
We're supposed to read it in its full context.
And if you read it in a verse, read it in its context.
That could be the paragraph, it could be the chapter, it could be two chapters.
But you need to read it in its context.
This is very important, guys, because see how easily, how easily, with two verses you can get along.
Right here.
28 and over here where he told Peter he's the rock of the church.
Right here.
Okay.
So the Catholic Church will take that one verse out of context, right?
And say this is the proof that they're the church of Jesus Christ, right?
And I think the Mormons do the same thing.
The church a lot of day saints, right?
And you got the pre-tourism churches that take verse 28 out of context.
You see what I'm talking about?
Catholic Church is huge on this verse right here.
Huge!
Now again, I think the Mormons do the same thing, but mainly the Catholic Church.
To prove that they are the church.
And it's not proof at all.
Because again, Peter lived hundreds of years before Constantine was even born.
Constantine was the first pope, not Peter.
And over here, the preachers will use this, verse 28.
And again, if you use single verses out of context, you can make it sound like anything you want.
But reading it in this context, plainly saying, no, it's not.
Not what he's talking about.
And this is the awesomeness of the Holy Spirit to help us discern the truth and everything.
It's pretty awesome.
So don't take my word or anybody else's word for it, guys.
You need to read it for yourself.
Plain and simple.
So when you get done here, please open up Matthew 16 and read it for yourself.
Take your time.
Take your time.
Yeah, it was 28 verses, I believe.
Let me see.
Yeah.
28 verses.
You can probably read through it in two minutes.
I don't want you to take two minutes to read.
I want you to take your time.
Take your sweet time to read through this, plain and simple.
