Dan Bidondi Show - RI GOVERNOR CANDIDATE TODD GIROUX STANDS FOR THE 2nd AMENDMENT Aired: 2014-01-25 Duration: 06:05 === One Rhode Island Voice (02:19) === [00:00:00] Folks, we've all seen the news. [00:00:15] We know how many people are running for governor. [00:00:17] We know what we have trying to run for governor. [00:00:22] We have Gina Raimondo with her millions that wants to take the semi-automatics, her so-called assault rifles, and our standard capacity magazines out of your hands. [00:00:38] We have Tavares that wants to take every semi-automatic out of the state of Rhode Island. [00:00:45] Out of all of them that are running, I haven't heard any come out yet in defense of our Second Amendment, except for one person. [00:00:53] And he's here with us today, and he's up next. [00:00:56] For Governor, Mr. Todd Giroux. [00:00:58] Yeah! [00:00:59] Thank you, Ed. - My name is Tom Giroux. [00:01:07] I'm a candidate for governor here in Rhode Island. [00:01:09] I ran in 2010 to stand my ground for the people of Main Street. [00:01:15] Thank you for joining us here today at the Rhode Island Capitol to stand your ground. [00:01:19] I am Tom Giroux. [00:01:20] I am a candidate for governor here in Rhode Island. [00:01:23] I, like you, am on the steps of the Rhode Island Capitol to stand my ground. [00:01:27] And this event across the nation to stand your ground is one hell of a big deal. [00:01:33] Yeah! [00:01:34] It is one hell of a big deal to be here today with you all. [00:01:38] I am here today before the kickoff this afternoon because others seeking to be governor will not face you, the people, on this subject of gun rights in America. [00:01:47] Gubernatorial hopefuls, Raimundo, have declared an open war on your weapons. [00:01:52] Tavares has joined Alan Fung in mayors against guns. [00:01:56] And Ken Block has decided to be undecided in a very moderate fashion. [00:02:03] There are people who have expressed to me to be here today as if I were insensitive to the crimes committed on the streets of Main Street America every day, and that is not the case. === Prayers For Peace (04:00) === [00:02:14] I pray for an end to violence. [00:02:16] I pray for Education and understanding. [00:02:19] I pray for a more prosperous times for people. [00:02:22] I pray for wisdom for mothers and fathers to teach their children how to live in peace and prosperity with an open heart and a firm sense of duty to preserve life. [00:02:35] To be there for their children in ways their parents may not have been there for them. [00:02:40] And I pray for healing in this nation over the differences we perceive that exist between each other. [00:02:48] And I pray for the bonds of oppression to be broken. [00:02:52] I pray that you forgive your neighbor, your brother, your father, your mother. [00:02:58] I pray you forgive your government for the brute force to affect humanity. [00:03:04] There is no set of rules to define an evolving humanity. [00:03:08] Much like programming a computer, what you put in is what you get out. [00:03:15] The rules of today were written yesterday by other men, in another time, and yet we know they had it right. [00:03:23] For the fight for freedom on this earth was fresh in their mind and stayed on their hands of men and children in the graves of their brothers. [00:03:32] The engine of commerce will run strong with a governor that understands freedom, less regulation and less taxes. [00:03:39] My friends, freedom and less regulation leads to an expanding economy and a beacon for the ships of commerce to find on our shores, open for business. [00:03:49] In 2014, the fact remains we want our children to have the same freedoms and opportunity we have had to stand their ground. [00:03:58] To peacefully assemble. [00:04:00] To peacefully assemble in non-violent ways without the threat of violence. [00:04:05] Who would dare bring gallons of pepper spray to a peace rally? [00:04:08] The private security firms of Wall Street. [00:04:11] Who would dare bring bullets to a peace rally? [00:04:14] The private security firms of Wall Street. [00:04:16] Who would dare take the homes of millions, pensions and people in this country? [00:04:21] It's Wall Street. [00:04:23] Yes! [00:04:23] Who would dare to lobby Congress in this state house to change the Constitution to our Second Amendment rights? [00:04:29] Did you know that the Second Amendment is the only amendment that can protect and enforce all others? [00:04:35] Including the first. [00:04:37] Yes. [00:04:38] The First Amendment of Free Speech. [00:04:45] The fourth against search and seizure. [00:04:48] Did you know that many states will arrest protesters for not having a permit to protest? [00:04:53] Are you kidding me? [00:04:55] We need permission to redress our grievances? [00:04:58] John F. Kennedy was standing his ground for all people in the fight against banks and corruption. [00:05:04] John Lennon was standing his ground through music for peace in this world. [00:05:08] Martin Luther King was standing his ground for his family, his people, and his generation. [00:05:14] And I say, there is a time for everything. [00:05:17] A time to speak. [00:05:18] And that time is today. [00:05:20] And that, my friends, is why I am proud to be here with you today. [00:05:24] To stand my ground with you, the people of Main Street. [00:05:28] The people willing to stand for the people of tomorrow. [00:05:32] Be generous. [00:05:34] Live generous. [00:05:35] It is others that will reap the benefits for what we stand for today. [00:05:39] We cannot rely on government for everything. [00:05:42] We cannot create the dependent society. [00:05:45] It was the Declaration of Independence that set us free. [00:05:48] It was Thomas Doar that set a charter to bridge the gap of King's rule. [00:05:53] It was Roger Williams that set us apart from oppression. [00:05:56] And it is men and women like us who make the difference today. [00:06:01] Stand your ground, America. [00:06:03] I'm Todd Giroux. [00:06:04] I will be your next governor.
