Please, you can't know what I've been through.
Don't ever put a roof over me.
I'm not there.
I'm still here.
the world.
You're listening to the Hour of the Tiger.
I'm William Cooper.
And I'm Hugh.
Good evening, folks.
It's good to be back again.
I want to thank everyone involved in my surprise birthday party Friday night.
Annie especially, Carolyn, Tim, John, everybody who had a hand in it.
I thank you sincerely.
I was surprised and it was a fun evening.
A lot of people got together here that don't normally get to Get together and talk.
And it was a lot of fun.
And sitting in the audience while Carolyn was doing her ladies night, I got to experience once again the realization that no matter how many times or how hard you try to educate people, most of them are sheeple and will always B. Sheeple.
Carolyn was nervous.
She was having a hard time getting the show on the air.
She had her first live audience.
I was sitting there watching her.
And she made a couple of mistakes.
And went into the show and said that it was Ladies Night.
And still, some of you, people who have ears but no brains, called in men to Ladies Night.
Disrupted her show.
It took up valuable time, away from those that the show was intended to be for, and just all around made a nuisance of yourselves.
And of course, then there was the animal, who likes to call up and make various animal noises.
And there was a lot of talk going around about what kind of animal this was.
Don't worry, folks.
Don't worry at all because it's just a harmless little pussy.
Oh beautiful for spacious skies for amber waves of grain For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain Oh, America!
America!
God shed His grace Call me, so I'm crowned by you.
I do with pride removed from these two shining seams.
For beautiful, for beautiful in every sight.
Two hearts, they're custom made. And nothing more than my needs.
Forever I'll enjoy these nights I go by.
Two hearts, they're custom made. And everything to be done right.
I'll be alone, before the great, great dreams that feed beyond my years.
Two hearts, they're custom made. And nothing more than my needs.
Forever I'll remember, I'll never be changed, I'll never be changed.
I'll find my peace, with all the good, I need to find peace in my heart.
I'll be alone, in this land.
When the Iron Curtain fell...
Across the world, people said that Mikhail Gorbachev was a great man and it was due to his efforts that the Soviet people could experience democracy and be free.
It was, of course, a great deception.
I've been telling you for years that the highest levels of all of these seemingly opposing nations, they are all the same.
Playing for the same team, presenting the world with deceptive, what appear to be clashes of idealistic natures, in order to bring about a synthesis of all of these, which will result in a one-world totalitarian socialist government.
Well, nobody believed me then.
Nobody believed a word that I said or wrote then, but since then, everything that I wrote in my book and everything that I said on my lecture tours has now come to pass, and it is becoming obvious to more and more people that this is the truth of the matter.
And today, as Dean Xiaoping in Peking talks about the emerging New World Economic Order, and in Europe They continue to try to bring about the European economic community of European states, which I outlined in my book long, long ago, and in my lectures, would be one of the regions, in fact, the first region that would come together in what will ultimately be the New World Order, or world government.
I predicted region one.
The United States, Canada, and Mexico, which is now coming to pass with Gap and NAFTA, with the declarations by George Bush that our fifth goal in the Middle East was to bring about a New World Order, and then his reports to Congress on how that was going to come about.
And everybody forgot about Mikhail Gorbachev when he left the leadership of the Soviet Union.
Where is he?
What is he doing?
How does he fit into this?
If Bill Cooper is right, then Mikhail Gorbachev should still be working behind the scenes toward the New World Order.
You see the collapse of the Soviet Union and the Iron Curtain.
Did not come about through an uprising of the people, or even a demand of the people, or even, ladies and gentlemen, with the knowledge of the people until it was an accomplished fact.
The people were lost.
They didn't know what was happening.
It came from the top down because it is now time to bring together these opposing ideologies of the world in the post-Cold World, Cold War world, in order to unify What will ultimately result in a one-world totalitarian socialist state?
Where is Mikhail Gorbachev?
Well, ladies and gentlemen, he played a catalytic role in the extraordinary global changes of the last decade, or so it would appear.
His vision of glasnost and perestroika inspired the movement to democracy and the free market in the former Soviet Union, altering forever the strategic and political framework of global relations.
Or so it would appear.
His reforms initiated more social change with less violence than any similar movement in modern times.
Or so it would appear.
In January of 1992, Mr. Gorbachev established the International Foundation for Socioeconomic and Political Studies in Moscow, known as the Gorbachev Foundation.
Concurrently, at the same time that this was being put together in Moscow, it magically appeared as the Gorbachev Foundation, USA, On the Presidio, a military base, a United States Army base, not released by Congress to occupation by any private organization other than military, United States military, in San Francisco.
Its mission, they say, is to provide a focal point for individuals and institutions to carry on the work of achieving a world base on humanitarian values and global cooperation.
Good heavens!
Bill Cooper was right again.
The Gorbachev Foundation USA is a tax-exempt, non-profit institute run from Moscow, dedicated to social, political, and geo-strategic change in the post-Cold War era, or so they say.
Our current areas of activity, they say, include, include, and listen carefully, ladies and Redefining global security.
Working in conjunction with Mikhail Gorbachev and his Moscow staff, and the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation in India, Gorbachev Foundation USA, is bringing together the world's leading experts to both discuss and recommend to the international community means by which their institutions, structures, and understandings of security can adapt to the new challenges facing humanity in the areas of nuclear proliferation The Architecture of Global Security and Conflict Resolution.
Do you know what that means, folks?
Are you adept at translating the political speak of these lying, two-faced, deceptive, manipulating idiots?
Well, I am.
But let's go on to their next mission statement.
Ethnic Conflict and Humanitarian Assistance Following the demise of the Cold War, the international community has experienced an unprecedented outbreak of ethnic and nationalistic crises, causing untold suffering.
The Gorbachev Foundation strives, through the provision of emergency humanitarian assistance, to promote political consensus within these destabilized regions and alleviate suffering to those affected by conflict.
For those of you who understand the garbledy-speak that these people use, everything that has been said so far is exactly what Russia said, the Soviet Union said, when we were still engaged in the Cold War, when they interfered in the politics of other nations.
Let's go on to the next one.
National Conference on Defense Reinvestment, and you better listen closely.
A major challenge of the post-Cold War era is implementing significant reductions in the defense infrastructure while converting those facilities and creative human talents to civilian-oriented economically productive services.
The Gorbachev Foundation, in cooperation with leading federal and private institutions, is sponsoring a conference on defense reinvestment in spring of 1994, controlled by the Gorbachev Foundation in Moscow.
The conference will assemble representatives from all areas of the nation and selected international regions affected by military base closures and related defense spending reductions.
These representatives will meet with leading specialists in all facets of defense installation, conversion, and re-utilization.
Remember what I said.
Defense installation, conversion, and re-utilization.
Remember, folks, what I told you that closed military bases would be used for years ago, long before you ever believed in your wildest dreams that we would have closed, disused military bases in the United States of America?
And you called me a liar.
Remember that?
Yes, I'm talking to you, Mr. Couch Potato.
Private investment institutions will cooperate with government and non-profit organizations
in unique public-private partnerships to provide both practical opportunities for civilian
reinvestment and a new strategic vision for the continued transformation of appropriate
defense facilities into centers which will make substantial contributions to American
and global prosperity dictated by the Mikhail Gorbachev Foundation with its headquarters
in Moscow, Russia.
I'm sorry.
Children in Health Both Mr. and Mrs. Gorbachev are quite passionate about the health of our children.
Our children.
He's not talking about Russian children.
He's talking about our children.
And are committing a significant amount of personal time to aiding the children of Russia, the USA, and the needy children of the world.
Gorbachev Foundation USA and Gorbachev Foundation Moscow have already raised the funds necessary to install a clean room for the treatment of childhood leukemia and have delivered two million dollars worth of vaccines to the Republic of Georgia.
A globally broadcast concert and television special was aired this summer to raise funds for the immunization of children in the United States and the former Soviet Republics, proceeds from which are being used to assist children in emergency health crises.
Something beginning to stir in your gut?
How do you have the capacity?
Are you still alive?
Are you lost?
Do you understand what I just imparted to you?
On the board of directors of the Gorbachev Foundation are the following traitors.
Senator Alan Cranston of California, James Garrison, President.
Paul Dietrich, General Counsel.
Robert Medeiros.
Stephen Rinesmith.
And on the Advisory Board is Secretary George Shultz, Chairman.
Do you know who George Shultz is?
Duane Andreas.
Rinaldo Brutoto.
Senator Dick Clark.
Sidney Drell.
Ambassador Ralph Earl II.
Senator Gary Hart.
Father Theodore Hesburgh.
Father Theodore Hesburgh, aligned with the Gorbachev Institute, with its headquarters in Moscow.
Representative Mel Levine, Senator Charles Mathias, Thomas Minor, Representative David Nagel, John Nesbitt, Walter Shorenstein, all traitors to the United States of America, ladies and gentlemen.
And what are these military bases going to be used for?
My, my, what a question.
They're going to be used for exactly what I told you they would be used for, ladies and gentlemen.
USA Today, published by Gannett Company Incorporated, dated Friday, March 18th, 1994.
The headline New Life for Old Military Bases by Jessica Lee USA Today Once slated for mothballing, New Jersey's Fort Dix got a new life when it became landlord to the Federal Bureau of Prisons.
As the federal prison population mushrooms and the budget shrinks, officials are hunting for low-cost and quick ways to house inmates.
Fort Dix fit both needs, as do other military bases across the country.
In 1991, Burlington County, New Jersey, had plenty of low-cost land.
Every effort to reverse a 1988 decision to close Fort Dix, or find a use for it, had failed.
So county leaders jumped when the Bureau of Prisons came looking for space at the Army basic training post.
Quote, we were able to acquire two brigade areas which allowed us to house approximately 3,200 federal offenders where they had housed troops, unquote, says Kevin McMahon, Senior Site Selection Specialist at the Bureau.
Now at half capacity, the Federal Correctional Institute at Fort Dix will be the largest United States prison, once in full use.
We literally were able to add security measures and move in, McMahon says.
As a cost-cutting measure, a provision in the Crime Bill, a provision in the Crime Bill, the Crime Bill instructs federal prison officials to consider using closed military installations as alternatives to buying property or constructing new buildings.
And once more, once more, my prediction of future events has materialized.
Normally, our low-security facilities are designed for 1,600 inmates, and it costs approximately $60 million to build one.
By using dicks, we spent about a sixth of that, McMahon says.
For Burlington County, the prison was a godsend, says Representative Jane Saxon, Democrat, New Jersey.
Our fear was because of its relative remoteness, we couldn't convert it.
Listen to this, folks.
Four other military bases have been rescued from vacancy by federal prison officials.
Hospitals at Fort Devens, Massachusetts and Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, Texas are slated to be taken over by the Prison Bureau, and the Bureau is planning to take over 600 acres from Castle Air Force Base in Merced, California for two prisons.
Two or more prisons will be built on the closed George Air Force Base in San Bernardino, California.
The Bureau's plans for George Air Force Base came after a change of heart by the county government.
Does any of you out there have any idea how big George Air Force Base is?
is. Do you have any idea how big 600 acres is? San Bernardino supervisors fought for
a year to keep the California State Prison out of its midst.
So when federal prison officials came asking about taking over 800 acres at George Air Force Base, the county bought, despite nearly 16% unemployment, largely from loss of 6,000 defense industry jobs since 1988.
The county's change came after McMahon laid out plans for a 700-bed facility for women.
Now notice, he didn't say 700 cell prison, he said 700 bed facility for women.
In other words, remember I told you that abandoned military facilities would be used for mental treatment?
Remember that, ladies and gentlemen?
He explained all the good things, says County Supervisor Marsha Cherokee.
They don't use our courts.
They are federal officers.
The criminals inside are federal.
It brings jobs.
Very clean industry, said the sheeple.
Bye. Next one.
This is from the Union News.
Union News.
Military teaches jail guards riot tactics.
What is the military doing teaching jail guards riot tactics?
What is the military doing involved with the prison system of states, ladies and gentlemen?
And the next one.
New York Reservists moving to Westover.
Two New York units with 250 reservists will be moved here next year because of the downsizing of Griffiss Air Force Base.
And guess what it's going to be used for, ladies and gentlemen?
And why, on military bases across this country, have mock cities been erected resembling American cities?
And why are guardsmen, United States Army personnel, Air Force personnel, and Federal, state, and local law enforcement officials participating in military exercises taking these mock cities.
Anybody out there have the answer to that?
Well, maybe Mr. Bob Green does.
From the Union, Saturday, Saturday, October the 2nd, 1993.
Listen to this, ladies and gentlemen.
and she was there.
Headline, column by Bob Green.
Is it time for U.N.
peacekeepers to police U.S.
streets?
The United Nations currently has multinational peacekeeping troops stationed in fourteen countries around the world.
The precise missions vary, but they all have one thing in common.
The international soldiers are there to help bring tranquility and safety to places that can't do so on their own.
So perhaps there is one more place where a United Nations multinational force is desperately needed, the United States.
Preposterous?
Maybe not.
Maybe it is an issue for the 184 member nations of the United Nations to discuss, sending soldiers from around the world onto the streets of our own country.
I first heard this idea from an Ohio businessman, C.P.
Wood, 81, of Cincinnati.
I know that people won't take it seriously at first, he said, but I'm dead serious.
Really.
For God's sake, someone has to do something to stop the slaughter on our streets.
Any of you out there seen any slaughter on your streets?
His point, of course, is that the social fabric of the United States is arguably not that much stronger than in the so-called backward nations, where the United Nations often must send troops.
The supposition down through our history has been that we are the land of the good and the wise and the peace-loving, the land that values life and guarantees security.
The United Nations peacekeepers?
Here?
Absolutely, Wood said.
The first order of business should be to place an international soldier on every street corner in America, and I tell you, Mr. Wood, if you do, my first order of business will be to shoot him right between the eyes.
And he continues, the mission of the soldier should be to get awfully tough and right away.
The people of this country are so sick of being kicked around and threatened by crooks and murderers, Let the United Nations soldiers stop the mayhem, stop the mayhem, and pick up the weapons.
Do you hear me, sheeple?
The very thought of this is undoubtedly offensive to millions of Americans—the thought of soldiers from around the world under the banner of the United Nations taking over our streets.
After all, U.N.
soldiers traditionally are deployed only to nations that cannot take care of their own problems.
Correct, Wood said, that's the United States today.
We are impotent.
Absolutely impotent.
If we could control the gunfire and brutality in our own country, we would have controlled it by now.
We can't, obviously.
We need outside help.
According to the United Nations, it currently has 76,000 peacekeeping troops representing more than 70 countries deployed worldwide.
And I might add, folks, most of those troops belong to the United States of America, which are functioning as the police force of the United Nations.
He continues, cleaning up the United States might rank among the UN's toughest jobs.
I guarantee you that statement is true.
He continues, The raw figures tell the story.
If you were to announce the United States crime rate without telling anyone that these figures did indeed apply to life in our own country, there would be no question about it.
people would hear the statistics and determine that the poor nation being ripped apart by
such violence needed help, and right away.
According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 24,703 Americans were victims of murder in
1991, the last year for which complete figures are available.
That same year, 1.9 million incidents of violent crime were reported in the United States.
If you read those numbers in the paper about some other country, you would support United
Nation's troops being sent in the next morning," Wood said.
It's only when you figure out that it's our country we're talking about that you stop and wonder what we have come to.
For so long, the United States has presumed that its position in the world community is based upon some moral authority possessed by us, a moral authority that is lacking in other nations.
What moral authority would ask, we are no longer the land of the free when our own citizens don't feel free to walk the streets in safety?
What hypocrisy to think that we can send troops to other countries to pick up the guns and clean up the streets?
How are we, the way we are today, so much better than those countries?
Do you understand, sheeple?
people, you understand how the crime rate is being controlled by drugs in order to present
statistics like this, in order to scare the hell out of you, into accepting you in policing
of our streets when all of their statistics are lies.
According to these people, there are 24,000 Americans killed by guns every year.
Yet he says, according to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, 24,703 Americans were victims of murder in 1991.
Most murders are not committed with guns, ladies and gentlemen, and that is a fact.
So how Can you rectify these two statistics?
You can't, because they're lies.
Most of what these people put out are lies.
You read about the terrible crime in the streets of America, yet you walk out your front door and you don't see it, so where is this mysterious crime?
We'll get to that right after this break.
This land is my land, from south of...
That given of my fate, I thought above me That in the skyway, I saw below me
That golden valley This land is made for you and me
I promised them more, and followed my good will We fought and stranded, but died and lived
And all around me, a voice was sounding Saying this land is made for you and me
This land is your land This land is my land.
From California to the New York islands.
From the river Corvettes to the Gulf Stream waters.
This land is made for you and me.
This land.

But do it now.
1-800-289-2646. That's 1-800-289-2646.
Have you been watching the market? Have you been watching what's been happening?
Did you listen to me last Thursday night when I told you how a cooperation of several nations were propping up the
dollar, which is falling and cannot be held up much longer?
Are you smart enough to understand what you've been learning while you've been listening to this program, and
many others, I might add?
Are you perceptive enough to be able to look at world events and without even listening to this program understand that we're heading for a fall?
I hope so.
1-800-289-2646.
That's 1-800-289-2646.
Do it now.
That's 1-800-289-2646.
Do it now.
You'll be glad that you did.
My country is of thee, We the land of liberty,
And the home of the brave.
God bless you.
I'll do my best.
Land where my father died.
Land of the pilgrimage Christ.
From every mountainside let freedom ring My native country, be my home
than the burnt-low souls please thy name my love
I love thy rocks and rills thy woods and templet hills
my heart beats faster through life and love how do they fool us into believing their phony statistics
and instilling a fear into us which makes us cry out for more control
of the world.
and enables us to rationalize the loss of our Creator-endowed rights and the protection of those rights by the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.
We live in a world, ladies and gentlemen, of real dangers and imagined fears.
The dangers are often low and falling, while the fears are high and rising.
We are hounded by what I call psycho-facts.
Beliefs that, though not supported by hard evidence, are taken as real because their constant repetition changes the way we experience life.
We feel assaulted by rising crime, increasing health hazards, falling living standards in a worsening environment.
These are all psychofacts.
The underlying conditions are not true, but we feel they are, and therefore they become true.
What was it Hitler said?
If you repeat a lie long enough and often enough, it will become a fact.
Journalists, trafficking in the sensational and the simplistic, are heavily implicated in the explosion of psycho facts, but so are politicians, policy advocates and promoters of various causes and lifestyles.
Do any of you deliberately lie?
However, you do peddle incomplete or selective information that inspires misleading exaggerations or unwarranted inferences.
You see, I've changed it from we to you because that doesn't happen on the hour of the time.
Therefore, we are not guilty.
People begin to feel that something's wrong, and this new sensation becomes an irrefutable fact, or worse, the basis for a misguided policy.
And that is why we tell you here, listen to everyone, read everything, believe nothing unless you can prove it.
Crime?
Yes, there's been too much of it.
But the best surveys do not show that it's dramatically worsened.
Indeed, some victimization rates have dropped, some drastically.
The household burglary rate declined by 42% between 1973 and 1991, but that's not what they're telling you!
and 1991, but that's not what they're telling you. The number of annual murders has fluctuated
between 20,000 and 26,000 since 1980. The major increase occurred in the 1960s when
the number doubled, but that's not what they're telling you.
According to the news, it happened yesterday.
A Gallup poll reports that 86% of the respondents haven't, have not, haven't, have not been victims of violent crime.
By contrast, our consciousness of crime, fanned by local TV news, has risen, but we look around and we can't find the victims!
Where is this crime?
Are we scaring ourselves to death?
In a nation of 260 million people, 26,000 murders is nothing compared to the slaughter of history before this republic was established!
Are we scaring ourselves to death?
Well, ABC correspondent John Stoffel asked that question on a recent network special exploring these issues, probably the only time network television has ever told the truth.
The answer is yes, but psycho facts are seductive precisely because they are often plausible.
We've been told for years, for example, that our living standards are dropping, and this became a big Clinton theme in 1992.
Over any extended period, folks, our living standards have risen in the United States overall.
In the past 25 years, median family income is up by about one-fifth, but the rise is much slower than we expected, and so slow that it's often imperceptible or nonexistent in any one year.
We don't feel it.
And, ladies and gentlemen, compared to the inflation of the dollar, Those statistics are psycho facts, because they are misleading.
The truth is, the truth is, our living standards have risen, but the average salary of the American family has fallen, and the value of the dollar has fallen.
Health, safety, and environmental hazards inspire similar misconceptions.
Suppose an experiment shows that substance X causes cancer at some dosage in some animal.
We're soon worried that everything we eat or breathe is giving us cancer or heart disease.
We feel that identifiable risks should be avoidable risks.
We act as if there's a constitutional right to immortality and that anything that raises risk should be outlawed.
Our goal is a risk-free society, and this fosters many outsized fears, and the only way that you will ever experience a risk-free society, ladies and gentlemen, is if you just absolutely refuse to be born.
Lots of theoretical dangers, like asbestos, or plane crashes, or holes in the ozone layer, aren't large practical dangers, and some of them do not exist at all.
The easiest way to grasp this, folks, is to glance at the real statistics, and I'm going to give you some.
They compare relative risks of dying Listen very carefully, folks.
What's worth remembering is that roughly 2.2 million Americans die every year out of a total population of 260 million.
With about 260 million Americans, this means that in a crude arithmetic sense, the average risk of dying is about 1 in 118.
Now, obviously, the old die in much greater numbers than the young.
Still, the general risk of dying from natural causes or unavoidable accidents is much greater than the specific danger of any hazardous substances or jobs.
Listen to this.
The odds of dying in one specific year—any year—this year, for example, for everyone, is 1 in 118.
For those 35 to 44 years old, it's 1 in 437.
For a policeman on the job, which you are being told that they're being slaughtered
like flies all over the nation, and that's a lie.
For police on the job, it's one in 4,500.
Policemen are safer than you are, if you do nothing but stay home.
For women giving birth, 1 in 9,100.
From airplane crashes, 1 in 167,000.
From lightning, 1 in 2,000,000.
From asbestos in schools, 1 in 11,000,000.
And from holes in the ozone layer, the odds are so distant they are incalculable.
7,000, from lightning, 1 in 2 million, from asbestos in schools, 1 in 11 million, and
from holes in the ozone layer. The odds are so distant they are incalculable. In other
words, there's no danger at all.
Alarmists will point out that all the specific risk of dying create the overall risk of dying,
And that's true.
But no matter how much we reduce, any specific risk will still die from something, and many specific risks aren't very threatening at all, and some of them are not risks at all.
In this ABC program, Stossel tweaks Ralph Nader for seeing danger almost everywhere.
And I have warned you on this show that Ralph Nader is a socialist, and his program is to scare you into accepting control of everything, ultimately resulting in a totalitarian state.
And you think he's trying to help you.
Hot dogs have too much fat.
Airplanes aren't adequately maintained.
Coffee has caffeine.
Rugs collect dust and cause indoor pollution.
Life is preparedness.
Open the door and the flies swarm in.
Close the door and it's hot again.
Life sure gets tedious, don't it?
When you people gonna wake up?
Nader says the trouble is that if you spend all your life preparing, you may miss out on living.
Of course, he doesn't practice what he preaches, does he?
And we should take sensible personal precautions and enact prudent safety and environmental regulations.
Granted, all intelligent people know that.
But they should be sensible and prudent.
We should not overreact to every ghoulish incident or conceivable danger.
The abduction and murder of Poly Class late last year was horrifying, but so was the kidnapping of the Lindbergh child in 1932.
in 1932. Do you understand? And the same thing happened in 1611, and also in the year 153,
and in the year 500 B.C., you stupid sheeple.
Thank you.
Cloistering children in generally safe neighborhoods is not a sensible reaction.
The old, too, often senselessly barricade themselves indoors against imagined crime.
We give up some freedom, as Stossel says.
Children get hurt.
Children are in danger of being kidnapped.
Children are in danger of being abused.
That's part of life.
My daughter, Pooh, went outside today and was playing with Sugar Bear and stood up on her little blue plastic chair, lost her balance and fell over and got her first fat lip covered with blood.
She came in the house and bravely said to me, I hurt myself, Poppy.
I didn't forbid her from going outside again, for I know that is part of childhood.
However, many of you would say children must remain indoors until they're a certain age
to prevent these things from happening.
Likewise, misguided regulations based on exaggerated risk can waste lots of money.
The asbestos panic was a costly mistake, as federal judge Stephen Breyer shows in a new book.
Leaving asbestos in buildings poses almost no—that's zero—hazard.
Removing it increases the danger by putting asbestos particles into the air.
Breyer cites a toxic waste case where the company objected to the final cleanup.
The site was already so clean that children could eat some dirt seventy days a year without significant harm.
Why do more?
There were no dirt-eating children playing in the area, he writes, for it was a swamp.
The standard retort is a rich country like ours can afford absolute safety, and I say, no, we can not.
Regulatory costs raise prices or taxes.
Our incomes are lower than they might be.
That's okay if we receive lots of benefits, much cleaner air or healthier food, but it's not okay if the benefits are trivial or nonexistent or lead to control of our everyday lives on such A level that we lose our Creator-endowed rights and our protection of those rights under the Constitution, and we cease to have a benevolent government working in our interest, thus the sovereign people become subject to Big Brother.
Good judgment requires good information.
Every imagined danger or adverse social trend is not as ghastly as it seems.
Consciousness-raising can be truth-lowering.
We fall prey to our fears and fantasies.
We create synthetic truths from a blend of genuine evidence, popular prejudice, and mass anxiety.
Psycho-facts are not real facts, and we should try to tell the difference.
Now, I injected some things into this article, but I wanted to save for last where it came from.
It's called, The Triumph of the Psycho-Fact, by Robert J. Samuelson, and ladies and gentlemen, you can find it in all places where you would never think to look.
In the May 9th, 1994 issue of Newsweek.
issue of Newsweek. The May 9th, 1994 issue of Newsweek. It seems that some journalists
are finally beginning to catch on to the harm that they have done to this country.
Thank you.
And ABC's airing of that program, which put the true facts in perspective, was admirable in the face of the atmosphere of political correctness that pervades this nation today.
And the article that I just read to you is also to be commended.
Now, from the Union News, Thursday, September 9th, 1993.
Remember, I predicted this, told you that it was happening and that it would continue to happen until these forces are merged under the United Nations.
The headline, Union News, Thursday, September 9th, 1993.
United States and Russia to jointly train troops.
Peacekeeping mission targeted by Barton Selman.
In another milestone of cautious friendship between old Cold War enemies, United States and Russian defense leaders yesterday agreed to train two of their heavy combat divisions together for combined Peacekeeping operations.
Why is it you never knew about this?
Why did it only appear in a few small papers in the United States?
Why was it not on the 6 o'clock news?
Why have you not heard this from Dan Rather, Ted Koppel, or any of the other so-called news anchors?
The article continues, the training likely to be performed in Russia, Germany and the continental United States would be the first exercises of any kind involving the ground forces of the world's two most powerful armies.
A handful of previous cooperative contacts between U.S.
and Russian forces, beginning in 1988 and accelerating with the breakup of the Soviet Union in 1992, have taken place mainly in passing exercises between warships at sea.
Yesterday's Memorandum of Understanding between Defense Secretary Les Aspin and Russian Defense Minister Pavel Grachev, signed in Aspin's ceremonial Pentagon Conference Room, reflected a fundamental shift in U.S.
thinking about how Moscow's military might threaten American interests.
The old United States fear, through the four decades after World War II, was that the massive Soviet war machine might make a well-coordinated thrust into Western Europe The new fear derives from what might happen primarily inside the borders of the former Soviet Union.
One concern, according to senior U.S.
planners, is that Russian armed forces might fall apart into unstable nationalist pieces.
Another is that the Russian General Staff might turn against its country's fledgling democratic and market economic reforms.
U.S.
strategists consider the Russian military the most important domestic constituency for President Boris Yeltsin, according to one administration policymaker.
If the military doesn't participate, there's no coup, he said.
And on and on and on and on and on.
Partly for that reason, the Clinton administration is eager to foster a much broader range of contacts that would give large parts of the Russian military a stake in cooperation.
Ladies and gentlemen, another prediction that I made years and years ago.
And all this is in my book.
I'm not just picking up headlines and saying I made a prediction years ago that can't be documented.
It's on videotape.
It's on audio tape.
It's in my book that was printed, ladies and gentlemen, December of 1990.
How about that?
How about that?
Are you going to continue to sit on your couch and do nothing?
We're headed for world government.
There is no Constitution and no Bill of Rights in the world government.
There is only the United Nations Charter and the resolutions that have been passed by the UN General Assembly, none of which allow any protection of individual rights for any single human being up on the face of this earth.
It is, in fact, almost a verbatim copy of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics.
Read Mikhail Gorbachev's book called Perestroika, and you'll find out what democracy really means.
And in it, he tells you quite clearly that the Soviet Union is not dead, that it is a deception brought about by the leadership of the world to create a one-world totalitarian, and this is very important, socialist government, which they call a democracy.
Wake up.
Good night, and God bless you all.
It's a mile away, the days were gone, I've worked for all my life, and I had to start
again, because my children and my wife.
I'm a liar.
Thank my lucky stars to be living here today.
But the flag still stands for freedom and they can't take that away.
And I'm proud to be an American wearing these signs over my face.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.
And I'm glad they stand up next to you, and they take care of you today.
But there ain't no doubt I love this land Scotland, we love you and me
From the lanes of Minnesota To the hills of Tennessee
on the native side of the stream.
Across the plains of Maine to the hills of Tennessee, across the plains of Tennessee,
I'll carry it down to Houston, and New York to LA, where the pride in every American heart
said it's time we stand and say, we're proud to be an American, where it's Houston where
I'm free.
And I won't forget the men who died, who gave their lives.
I'm standing and I'd like to stand up next to you and defend her till the day
But there ain't no doubt that I'll defend God's precious little human being
you
