[00:00:53]  A programming note.
[00:00:56]  Now, who else would do this?
[00:00:59]  It will compete with my show in the Western time zones, but Nightline tonight will do a show about UFOs and life from elsewhere.
[00:01:10]  And that'll be in about a half hour from now.
[00:01:14]  Who else gives away their audience?
[00:01:17]  Those of you that are in time zones that have already seen it, I caught the last five minutes of it.
[00:01:23]  That's not awful.
[00:01:26]  We will, of course, record it here in a half hour, but I caught the last five minutes of it.
[00:01:32]  And it seemed seemed to leave the question open.
[00:01:37]  I guess they really had no choice, did they?
[00:01:40]  Since we don't know, is life frequent?
[00:01:42]  Is life infrequent?
[00:01:44]  Are we alone?
[00:01:46]  Would that be sad?
[00:01:48]  You know, that sort of thing at the very end.
[00:01:50]  But I did not catch the body of the program somebody else wrote and said basically was no good.
[00:01:58]  But I wouldn't make that judgment till I saw it, and I will depend on your judgment.
[00:02:04]  So Nightline, all about the kind of things we talk about many times.
[00:02:10]  Now, the stock market was quite remarkable today.
[00:02:15]  I watched it.
[00:02:16]  I'm very, very interested in the market.
[00:02:19]  And I don't know why, actually, because I'm not invested in the market.
[00:02:25]  I don't have any money.
[00:02:26]  I have no money in the market at all, but I am fascinated by it.
[00:02:30]  And it went down around one o'clock in the afternoon to about 167 points.
[00:02:37]  And at that point, the little talking heads were coming on CNN saying, this is it, free fall.
[00:02:43]  Everybody is selling at any price.
[00:02:45]  It's the end.
[00:02:47]  You know, and then, of course, it came back and ended up plus nine points by the end of the day.
[00:02:51]  And I told you yesterday, I've learned over a long period of time that can easily occur.
[00:02:56]  The volatility will no doubt continue tomorrow, I would imagine.
[00:03:02]  And it's hard to say where it's going to go.
[00:03:05]  But it sure is interesting to watch.
[00:03:09]  And I don't know why.
[00:03:10]  Maybe it's that end-of-the-world thing.
[00:03:14]  I don't know.
[00:03:16]  So watch the market.
[00:03:19]  Anybody have any idea why it is so interesting to watch the market?
[00:03:24]  I'm not sure myself.
[00:03:26]  Michael Irvin has apologized.
[00:03:30]  He has received four years probation as part of a plea bargain.
[00:03:35]  And I frankly, I kind of bought his apology.
[00:03:40]  I thought it was heartfelt.
[00:03:42]  And the poor guy, I kind of felt sorry for him.
[00:03:46]  I mean, it really was a good apology.
[00:03:50]  It doesn't exactly change the question.
[00:03:56]  And that is whether the one I asked yesterday, and that is whether if you or I were caught with cocaine, whether we would have the opportunity to get probation as he did.
[00:04:10]  I kind of doubt it.
[00:04:11]  So did he get this because he's Michael Irvine up?
[00:04:14]  Probably to some degree.
[00:04:16]  But his apology did seem to me to be heartfelt.
[00:04:21]  And I'm not sure what he's going to do now.
[00:04:22]  He's going to go home.
[00:04:23]  He's going to talk to his wife and he's going to think about his future, and he may or may not play football.
[00:04:31]  Boris Yeltsin's back, maybe.
[00:04:34]  The vice president, not exactly a physician, said, why, he looks good.
[00:04:40]  But everybody else seemed to observe that he didn't look good at all.
[00:04:43]  He was slow, pale, not looking good at all, in some sort of health retreat, which I think they have renamed.
[00:04:52]  It's a hospital, actually.
[00:04:54]  So I don't think Yeltsin's in very good shape, no matter what you may hear from the VP.
[00:05:01]  All have had athletes test positive for steroids.
[00:05:08]  This is kind of interesting.
[00:05:09]  One British doctor said that, in his opinion, 75% of the people competing use some kind of drugs, illegal drugs, steroids, whatever.
[00:05:24]  And that the facilities to detect these drugs are not keeping pace with the ability of the athletes to mask the use of drugs.
[00:05:36]  So I guess win at any price, eh?
[00:05:43]  Seismologists, this is rather interesting.
[00:05:46]  At Columbia University in New York, this, by the way, is Reuters tonight, are reporting what they say is a major and surprising find.
[00:05:56]  Listen to this.
[00:05:58]  The researchers say they've measured the motion of the Earth's solid inner core for the first time and found, guess what?
[00:06:07]  It rotates faster than the planet itself.
[00:06:13]  Wow.

=== Core Rotation Mystery (03:24) ===

[00:06:15]  Think about that.
[00:06:16]  They found that the inner core rotates in the same direction as the Earth, but completes its once-a-day rotation about two-thirds of a second more quickly than the entire planet.
[00:06:30]  The scientists say this discovery could lead to a greater understanding of earthquakes and knowledge about the Earth's magnetic field.
[00:06:39]  The research is published in the current issue of the journal Nature.
[00:06:44]  So the core, the solid core now they're talking about of the Earth is actually going faster than the Earth itself.
[00:06:55]  Now, isn't that something to contemplate?
[00:07:00]  Again, the latest poll politically says Mr. Dole continues to lose ground about 24 points down.
[00:07:08]  George Will, as I told you yesterday, beginning to talk about an insurrection at the convention.
[00:07:17]  I got a letter from a listener earlier today addressed to Mr. Barber, Haley Barber.
[00:07:27]  And I'll read it to you, and you see if you agree or disagree with this.
[00:07:33]  Dear Chairman Barber, the choice of Susan Molinari to be the keynote speaker at the Republican Convention is unacceptable and an insult to all pro-life Republicans.
[00:07:46]  Susan Molinari's pro-death views, his words, Are a terrible thing to contemplate to all pro-lifers, and her choice to be the keynote speaker is tantamount to a slap in the face of all pro-life Republicans.
[00:08:06]  Now, Bob Dole should immediately withdraw his name from consideration as the Republican candidate, and you, Mr. Barber, should resign.
[00:08:17]  You and your cronies in the Eastern pro-death liberal wing of the Republican Party are so totally out of touch with the mainstream Republicans that unless you resign and Bob Dole releases his delegates to an open convention, both of you will be blamed for a Democratic sweep of the House and Senate, as well as the reelection of the president in November.
[00:08:46]  We want an open convention in San Diego.
[00:08:50]  We want Bob Dole to either withdraw his candidacy or release his delegates before the first ballot.
[00:08:59]  Dreamville, he's not going to do that, of course.
[00:09:02]  And then this piece of email: Dear Art, there is no great surprise that Bill Clinton is 24 points ahead of Bob Dole, according to the latest polls, in spite of the sleazy conduct of the first couple and their cabinet over the past three years.
[00:09:18]  Simply put, women voters find Bill Clinton very vibrant and attractive.

=== 90% Amazed By Crop Circle (06:28) ===

[00:09:26]  And like JFK, whose approval ratings were rarely above 50% throughout his term, Clinton has become a political juggernaut because of the quote gender gap.
[00:09:39]  End quote.
[00:09:40]  Moreover, Dole and the Republicans face a gerital gap, that is, seniors falsely believe the Republicans want to do away with Medicare and Social Security benefits.
[00:09:52]  Now that this image is lodged firmly in the collective consciousness of American seniors, Dole and Gingrich are powerless to prevent the Democrat landslide in 96.
[00:10:07]  Now, this is a little bit of a study in human nature for you.
[00:10:13]  I came on the air very, very excited last night, as I am still tonight, about this amazing, amazing crop circle at Stonehenge.
[00:10:27]  Now, you've never seen anything like it.
[00:10:35]  Do you remember when we had a talk and I said, no matter what the evidence of anything, people would doubt?
[00:10:42]  Well, I would say 90% of you in responding by email and facts have been as amazed by it as I have been.
[00:10:52]  But I've really, after I tell you what's up there again, I've really got to read you a couple of facts that perfectly point out, illustrate my opinion about no matter the evidence, how some people will disbelieve.
[00:11:08]  Now, Linda Moulton Howe reported on the Crop Circle Sunday, a remarkable one at Stonehenge.
[00:11:15]  And it is 915 feet long, 508 feet wide, covers 10 acres, and is composed of 151 circles, ranging in size from 6 to 60 feet.
[00:11:33]  That's big.
[00:11:35]  We have a good, high-detail, color, aerial photograph of this crop circle with Stonehenge in the background.
[00:11:47]  And I would guess since yesterday, I've received no less than 300 pieces of email and faxes and so forth about this, responding to it.
[00:11:59]  I couldn't keep my mailbox clear.
[00:12:03]  So here are just two facts that will, I guess, illustrate for you the great body of everything I got.
[00:12:17]  Facts one.
[00:12:18]  Wow.
[00:12:20]  Well, to all the naysayers, look at this and weep.
[00:12:26]  If there ever was one that you could hang your hat on, this is it.
[00:12:30]  It passes the Missouri test.
[00:12:33]  I don't know who's in charge up there, but thank you for giving us such a beautiful sign.
[00:12:38]  Oh yeah.
[00:12:39]  Thank you for doing it in the crops instead of some other places.
[00:12:44]  Enough said.
[00:12:45]  So this is the Venerable Alexander in South Carolina.
[00:12:52]  Typical of about 90% of what I got.
[00:12:56]  Now remember, there have been people examining this crop circle.
[00:13:01]  Remember, a pilot has signed a piece of paper saying that crop circle was not there 15 minutes beforehand.
[00:13:09]  Other people on the ground saying the same thing.
[00:13:12]  He signed a deposition to that fact, as a matter of fact.
[00:13:17]  Then comes this facts.
[00:13:20]  Email.
[00:13:21]  All right.
[00:13:22]  I listened to all the raves about the picture on last night's show.
[00:13:27]  It's true, it is a lovely image, but I think it was created on a photo editing software.
[00:13:35]  Thus, the elaborate fractal image superimposed on an otherwise perfectly good aerial view of Stonehenge.
[00:13:45]  Somebody in England sure is having a lot of fun with this stuff.
[00:13:53]  So you see, no matter what it is, here is somebody who is convinced that they took a picture of aerial view of Stonehenge and superimposed or did a bit of computer fun and made this picture up.
[00:14:15]  So it does not matter the fact that people have been walking in it, that there's been scientific examination of it.
[00:14:23]  It does not matter that thousands have now seen it.
[00:14:28]  This person is not going to believe that what they're seeing is real.
[00:14:33]  Period.
[00:14:33]  I don't care what you say to them.
[00:14:35]  It is from somebody named Linda, and she is not going to believe that it is real, no matter what.
[00:14:44]  And I just thought that's sort of an interesting study in human nature.
[00:14:50]  Now, a couple of I promised I would do this, and if I have time, I'm going to do it.
[00:15:01]  Last night, somebody called and said, gee, you had promised to reread that vampire thing, and I had promised and did not do it last night.
[00:15:09]  I will do it tonight.
[00:15:10]  Now, don't forget, tomorrow night, the libertarian candidate for the party, Harry Brown, is going to be my guest.
[00:15:21]  And it's going to be a very, very interesting show.

=== Unwed Teens and Public Benefits (04:09) ===

[00:15:42]  And he has been remote viewing Mars as a target.
[00:15:48]  And I suspect he's going to have a lot of very interesting stuff to say.

[00:15:58]  Stay right where you are.

[00:16:20]  Unmarried teens.
[00:16:23]  Really interesting.
[00:16:25]  In 1994, here in America, there were 393,000 babies born to unwed teens.
[00:16:36]  Of that number, 300,000 are receiving public benefits.
[00:16:44]  Tax money.
[00:16:46]  In Idaho, they have exorcised a 75-year-old law and actually put on trial and convicted, well, it was a couple,
[00:17:02]  17-year-old girl and a 16-year-old boy, 17-year-old girl, Pragers, and as she's delivered now, she decided to fight the charge, and she was convicted of fornication.
[00:17:18]  Fornication.
[00:17:22]  Now, that's, of course, fornication just means unmarried sex.
[00:17:31]  It's okay when you have the license, but if you don't have the license, then it's fornication legally.
[00:17:38]  Now, the young lady fought it because she said, look, yeah, I had sex.
[00:17:44]  I got pregnant.
[00:17:45]  I've got a baby.
[00:17:47]  But why are you just arresting me?
[00:17:50]  Because the law on fornication applies to everybody.
[00:17:58]  All the adults, too.
[00:18:01]  And I've been considering that argument.
[00:18:04]  I think we certainly need to do something about this teenage sex problem or the teenage pregnancy problem.
[00:18:15]  But I'm not sure that arresting people for fornication.
[00:18:20]  And frankly, I sort of agree with her.
[00:18:23]  In other words, if they are going to arrest her for a law that applies to everybody, then they've almost, and by the way, they did not arrest her until she applied for public assistance.
[00:18:38]  Now, I realize it's a problem, and we sure need to do something about it.
[00:18:42]  But frankly, it seems to me she's got kind of a case.
[00:18:46]  If they were to, now I know Idaho's a pretty conservative state, but if they were to go around Idaho and virtually police everybody, equal enforcement of the law, in other words, and they were to begin arresting everybody who had sex without benefit of holy matrimony or license or whatever, I rather doubt any of the Idaho jails could hold them all.
[00:19:16]  Right?
[00:19:17]  I don't think they build that many jails up in Idaho.
[00:19:19]  Maybe they do.
[00:19:20]  I don't know.
[00:19:22]  But if they're going to enforce such a law, it seems to me it should be, as she argues, equally enforced.
[00:19:27]  There has got to be a better way to get stopped teens from having babies and then going on the public dole.

[00:20:33]  Several pet dogs were basically skinned, all their hair pulled out, and the reproductive organs removed and taken.
[00:20:42]  No suspects yet.
[00:20:44]  Somebody is suggesting satanic worshippers.
[00:20:47]  Great.
[00:20:49]  And that leads very nicely into this next little diddy.
[00:20:53]  You're going to love this.
[00:20:55]  It is from the state of Washington.
[00:20:58]  And I've got some response to it since I read it several nights ago.
[00:21:02]  Dear Miss Bell, please, sir, you must listen to me.
[00:21:08]  I have met a vampire on the internet.
[00:21:10]  And for the last few days now, I've been afraid to sleep because of what might happen to me in my dreams.
[00:21:15]  It appears this vampire is using the net as a way to meet its victims.
[00:21:23]  It also appears this particular vampire doesn't drink blood, but it does try to seduce you so it can steal your body for one of its demonic friends.
[00:21:35]  On the night this all happened, I was so scared that I locked up the house, got out a white bar of soap, and marked all my windows with crosses.
[00:21:46]  Here is a transcript of what occurred on the internet.
[00:21:49]  It is two pages and double typed, so I'll be able to get through it here quickly.
[00:21:55]  I was in this chat room, a kind of cyber singles bar located on the web.
[00:22:01]  I was contacted by what I believed to be a female who introduced herself as Claudia.
[00:22:08]  She told me she was a vampire.
[00:22:11]  Asked me if I wanted to chat.
[00:22:13]  First, I thought it was some kind of stupid joke, so I agreed to chat.
[00:22:17]  She sent me a description of herself.
[00:22:20]  Here we go, right?
[00:22:21]  Told me she liked to dress up in black skin tights, bandex bodysuits with black knee-high, high-heeled leather boots and black leather gloves.
[00:22:30]  She described herself as looking as if she was 17, but actually she was much older.
[00:22:38]  She said she had white, almost pale-colored skin, long dark hair, big brown eyes, long, slender legs, and a small oval face.
[00:22:46]  Sounds cute, huh?
[00:22:48]  I asked her if she was going to suck my blood or something, and she told me real vampires don't do that.
[00:22:56]  She said that if I wanted her, I mean, really wanted her, that I would give her my soul.
[00:23:05]  I said, okay.
[00:23:09]  She said that tonight she would come to me in my dreams and that tonight I would be a king.
[00:23:15]  She also told me if I wanted it, that she could come to me in any form, male or female.
[00:23:21]  I told her I loved women and that she would do just fine.
[00:23:27]  She said that tonight I would journey to the other world.
[00:23:31]  She said that tonight I would be king.
[00:23:35]  Tomorrow, I would be one of them.
[00:23:38]  She told me the land of the dead and the world of dreams are one and the same.
[00:23:46]  I was then told to remove any religious symbols or pictures and Christian Bibles from my room.
[00:23:53]  I was told that if possible, I should leave some access to my room open.
[00:23:58]  I was also told that she had some problems going through doors, windows, and walls.
[00:24:04]  I was even told that the sex could be ten times better if I would just take the time to break an egg into a small bowl and then urinate on it.
[00:24:15]  I was told I should sprinkle some urine on my feet before I went to bed at night.
[00:24:19]  Yuck.
[00:24:20]  I was told that the bowl was supposed to be placed at the foot of my bed.
[00:24:24]  The egg and urine were supposed to be some kind of offering.
[00:24:27]  I was told the offering was being made to its Tuxaman, whoever that is, Tuxaman.
[00:24:36]  She then promised me the best sex I'd ever had.
[00:24:39]  She told me my orgasm would last forever, that when I awoke, I'd be in another world, a world of magic and dreams.
[00:24:46]  She told me that this new world was also known as the etheric plane.
[00:24:52]  She told me when she came for me, my soul would leave my body.
[00:24:58]  She said that once I was in her arms, she'd break the fine silver cord attached to the top of my head, and that my body would be given to another, someone much stronger.
[00:25:10]  Finally, she said that the other name for this person, this tuxaman, was the soul sucker.
[00:25:20]  That's it.
[00:25:21]  Then I received these.
[00:25:23]  Remember a few shows ago when you read a fax on the air, said that it was from someone who said they'd met a vampire on the internet somewhere on IRC.
[00:25:31]  Well, I'll tell you, I've been hunting for her because I want to ask her some questions.
[00:25:35]  And I won't do anything to get myself, quote, in trouble, end quote, you know, right?
[00:25:39]  Believe me.
[00:25:40]  Well, that guy said her name was Claudia, and I went into a vampire room and asked someone if they'd seen her.
[00:25:46]  They have vampire rooms?
[00:25:48]  Anyway, he said he spoke to her yesterday.
[00:25:51]  Maybe it's the same Claudia or not, but I think it is, and I'll keep you posted.
[00:25:57]  By the way, that night when you read the facts, I really couldn't and didn't want to sleep.
[00:26:01]  It was kind of frightening to me.
[00:26:04]  And then this.
[00:26:05]  Your listener who sent the account of the internet vampire is indeed doomed.
[00:26:11]  This particular vampire is an incubus or succubus, a sexual predator who steals souls from unknowing individuals, draining them like the classic vampire.
[00:26:24]  Usually, they can be warded off with any religious symbol as long as the faith of the user is strong.
[00:26:31]  In other words, a cross won't work if you don't believe in God.
[00:26:34]  I hope Dominique in Washington is well.
[00:26:39]  So, there you've got it.
[00:26:42]  The old, the ancient, the occult moves to the new, the amazing, the enveloping internet.
[00:26:55]  Truly a marriage made in hell.

[00:27:10]  Well, it was kind of like that yesterday on Wall Street.
[00:27:13]  Yeah, that was exciting.
[00:27:14]  Just remember, though, about the vampires don't go toward the light.
[00:27:18]  At any rate, yesterday on Wall Street, it was awesome.
[00:27:21]  Yes.
[00:27:22]  In fact, in the 1930s, they had the same exact same thing occur on Black Thursday.
[00:27:28]  Then the volume increased over the next couple days of that week, and it finally hit 33 million shares were traded.
[00:27:37]  And guess what?
[00:27:38]  We broke an all-time record just the other day.
[00:27:40]  I think it was 680 million shares traded hands.
[00:27:44]  That was today.
[00:27:45]  That's approaching, what, two-thirds of a trillion shares.
[00:27:49]  That's right.
[00:27:50]  It was today, and so it's an exact duplicate.
[00:27:52]  And look, you see the harsh, punitive economic policy that the Republicans were instituting back then.
[00:27:58]  They want a constitutional balanced budget amendment.
[00:28:01]  They want to restrict monetary and fiscal policy.
[00:28:04]  They're trying to balance the budget on the backs of the poor.
[00:28:07]  Exactly.
[00:28:07]  Wait a minute, no, no, no.
[00:28:08]  Are you blaming this volatility and the 160-point loss the other day on the Republicans?
[00:28:15]  Yes, on the new freshman Republicans attempting to balance the budget.
[00:28:19]  They're restricting the economy to deflationary levels.
[00:28:22]  I've told you this over and over again.
[00:28:24]  I think you're having an inner ear problem.
[00:28:26]  No, I'm not sure.
[00:28:26]  Yes, you are, because yes, you are, because none of this was made into law, nor is likely to be made into law.
[00:28:34]  So the market cannot be reacting to something that's not happening.
[00:28:37]  You are out of your tree.
[00:28:39]  No, there's the rational expectations model where people believe what's happening and they know that.
[00:28:44]  Or from the north, sir, you're out of your tree.

[00:28:48]  Absolutely.

[00:28:51]  If there's a problem in the market, this is on you know who's watch.
[00:28:55]  Yeah, but it's the freshman Republicans who are restricting the monetary policy just like Herbert Hoover did.

[00:29:19]  I mean, I would even argue with you that it would be causing market troubles had they managed to get it through, but they didn't, and there's no chance they will.
[00:29:28]  So the market absolutely was not reacting to that.
[00:29:31]  And you can only have cooked that up in your ideological, narrow little mind so that you can make a call saying something nasty about the Republicans.
[00:29:39]  Look, take it easy on the Republicans.
[00:29:42]  They've got Bob Dole right now that got troubles.

[00:29:52]  I had a few comments on the night line tonight, which you said you'll be taping the West Coast.
[00:29:57]  I am taping it as we speak, and I suspect a lot of people here in the West are watching it.
[00:30:01]  What do you think?
[00:30:02]  Was it good?
[00:30:03]  Well, overall, I agree with that earlier factor or whatever that it was pretty much a waste of time.

[01:54:49]  The blood does not get digested and ejected as food does.
[01:54:54]  It becomes transformed into vampire tissue and begins to harden and strengthen the organs.
[01:55:01]  Eventually, the entire body will have been transformed, and blood is no longer necessary.
[01:55:08]  I do not know any individuals who have achieved it.
[01:55:12]  Typically, in modern times, vampires mostly feed off the willing.

[02:05:27]  And when I mentioned it to my doctor, when I saw him, he got a very weird look on his face and did not want to stay in the same room with me.
[02:05:37]  I was quite young.

[02:05:41]  But then I realized what I was driving for.

[02:05:47]  Well, I just told him that I felt great after the transfusion, and I couldn't figure out why.

[02:05:57]  What I think was in the back of my mind was to talk him into giving me another transfusion.

[02:16:43]  And he was painted as the main opposition.
[02:16:46]  He grabbed the core radical part of the party, the Republican Party, and appealed to those people.
[02:16:54]  And that gave him an early running start against Bob Dole.
[02:16:58]  But all along, there could not have been, and I told you this, and I'm telling you again now, there could not have been another result.
[02:17:06]  Bob Dole would beat Pat Buchanan.

[02:17:12]  I knew that all along.

[02:17:17]  Bob Dole was and is the presumptive nominee, indeed is going to be.
